Chapter 18: The Results of Training

Team RWBY walked out of the Fairy Tail guild hall with a flyer in their hands. "Alright, it's time for Team RWBY to start their first mission as Fairy Tail members." Ruby said happily. "LET'S DO THIS!"

Earlier that morning, Ruby was humming as she was walking towards the Fairy Tail guild hall. When she got inside the guild hall, she saw most of the gathered in a circle as she heard the sounds of swords clashing. "What's going on?" Ruby asked in confused as she walked into the crowd. When she squeezed through some of the guild members, she saw Blake clashing swords with another member that also recently joined the guild, the exceed Panther Lily, who was in his battle form.

"Yeah, take him down Blake!" Yang shouted, cheering for her partner. Blake charged towards the exceed and the two continued to exchange blows.

"I must admit your skill with a sword is impressive." Lily said with a smirk. Blake returned the smirk as she jumped back. As the two charged towards each other, two giant hands grabbed and separated the two.

"I think that's enough you two." The master said as his arm returned to normal. Then Makarov looked over at the faunus. "I see that you've been practicing more than just Take Over magic Blake. I wonder how you fair against Erza if your swords continue to improve." Blake nodded as she sheathed her weapon.

"Don't worry, I think you can kick her butt." Yang said to her partner.

"Thanks Yang."

"Hey guys, where's Weiss?" Ruby asked, walking towards Yang and Blake.

"She's with Levy in the library." Yang said. "Since we started to learn how to use our magic, we haven't focus how to get back to Vale. She thinks that there might be a book in there that could help us. Why can't we just find who brought us here and beat some answers out of him?!"

"That would be difficult considering who brought us here in the first place." Blake said. Yang looked

"Thanks for your help Levy." Weiss said, walking out of the library with the blue haired member of Shadow Gear with a pair of glasses in her hand. "Oh and thanks for letting me borrow these glasses."

"It's no problem." Levy said with a smile. "You can keep them. I have plenty at home. I just wished I could be for more help."

"Don't worry, you did all that you could do. Thanks again." Weiss said, walking to her team as Levy went to hers.

"So find anything that can help us?" Yang asked. Weiss looked at the ground in disappointment in response. "I guess not."

Ruby looked over at the request board and saw Natsu, Happy and Lucy looking over the different flyers. "Hey Natsu, Lucy!" She shouted as she ran towards them.

"Hey Ruby!" Lucy greeted the young huntress. "So how's your training with Erza coming along?"

"Well it got off to a rocky start." Ruby said, stretching the back of her head. "Erza is a very strict teacher."

"I kinda figured she would be." Natsu said, not surprised about that statement.

"That's Erza for you." Happy said.

"But I can't say that it was for nothing. I feel stronger than I was when me and my team got here. I think I can take you on now!"

That caught Natsu's attention. "Oh yeah, wanna put that to the test?!" His fist is engulfed in flames.

"Not now Natsu!" Lucy shouted. "Remember we have to go out on our job."

Ruby looked at the celestial wizard and asked, "You guys are about to leave?"

"Yeah, my rent is due at the end of the week so I need take one as soon as possible and Natsu's coming to help me." Lucy explained. Then an idea popped into her head. "Why won't you and your team take a job yourselves?"

"I think that's good idea." Erza said, walking up to the four of them. "It's about time that you four went on a job by yourself. It can also show that the past month teaching wasn't for nothing."

"Are you sure?" Ruby asked her mentor, who nodded in response. The red hooded girl walked towards the request board and looked for a job that can show off Team RWBY's new skills. Once she found one, she took the flyer off the board and ran to her sister and friends. The job was to get rid of the bandits terrorizing one Fiore's greatest tourist towns.

As Ruby went to her team to tell about their mission, Carla looked at the four girls, more specifically Ruby, and thought to that vision she saw of Ruby screaming. 'That vision…' The exceed thought worryingly as Team RWBY left the guild hall. 'I just pray that what I saw doesn't come to pass.'

After a long train ride, Team RWBY walked out of the train station into the town. When they did, they saw some buildings looked damaged, burned, or completely destroyed. This town was one of Fiore's greatest tourist spots, Wakalo Town. Blake could hear some of the citizens' whispers with her faunus ears. She could tell that they're in fear.

"Woah, what happened?" Ruby asked, looking at the damage.

"I heard that Wakalo is a great place for tourist to come to in Fiore, especially during the summer." Weiss said. "From the looks of things, it hardly lives up some of the claims I heard about it." Then a man with white hair wearing a black suit walked up to the four girls.

"Excuse me but are you members of the Fairy Tail guild?" The man asked. Ruby nodded as she showed the man her guild's emblem. "Welcome to Wakalo Town, the pride and joy of tourism here in Fiore. My name is Gideon and I'm the mayor of this town."

"You know you can cut the act now." Blake said, narrowing her eyes at the mayor. "You can't fool us with that fake smile of yours. Why don't you tell us what happened here?"

"Those are some eyes you have there." Gideon said. "It all started three weeks ago when a group of bandits came into our town and started raiding it. They made quick work of our guards and destroyed most of our home and established. They threatened to reduce this town to a pile of ash if we don't give the amount of money they ask. Soon after, people stopped coming to our town in fear of these bandits and money stopped coming in. Since we couldn't pay them, they started to kidnap the citizens." The mayor balled his fist as tears started to flow from his eyes. "Among those they took were my wife and son. They said if anyone would come to save them, they would kill them one by one starting with the one foolish enough to save them."

"Don't worry…" Ruby said to the mayor. "I promise that we will save them and bring them all back safe and sound along the money they took from you."

"Where are they now?" Yang asked.

"Their base isn't too far from here. It's just a little off the road into a forest that's east from the town."

"In that case, we'll have everyone back in no time!" Ruby said, running in the direction the mayor said. "Come on, let's go!" Yang smirked, following her sister.

"Hold on, we need to come up with a plan first!" Weiss shouted.

"I already got one!"

A sweat drop appeared on Weiss's head. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" She asked Blake.

Blake sighed and said, "We should follow them at least." Weiss nodded and the two quickly ran after their teammates.

"Thank you…" Gideon said as the four left. "Please bring them back."

Team RWBY walked the dirt road into a forest east of Wakalo like the mayor told them, looking for the bandits' base. The four walked through the forest until they saw large opening of trees with tents covered some of the area and a large group of people looking at them. One of them shouted, "Hey what are you girls doing here?! If you're looking a shop, the town's the other way." The others started to laugh.

"We're not here for shopping." Ruby started, causing the leader to look at them confused.

"Then what are you here for?" The bandit leader questioned.

"We're here to take back everything you creeps stole from Wakalo Town!" That caused the laughing to stop as the bandits started to take out their weapons.

"So that idiot of a mayor actually hired wizards to do his dirty work, did he?" The leader said. "In that case, get 'em boys!" The other bandits as their leader ordered and charged towards Team RWBY. Ruby gave a nod to her team and they charged towards the bandits.

"Alright let's go!" Yang shouted as her fists are engulfed in golden flames. "Ember Shower!" She fired several golden fire balls at the bandits in front of her, pushing them away. Then she looked behind her shoulder and saw more bandits trying to ambush her. "Ember Fang!" A claw made of golden flames formed in Yang's hand as she fired a blast of golden flames at the bandits, pushing them back and scorching them.

Some of the bandits surrounded Blake, trying to gang up on her and attack from all directions. Blake closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Take Over: Lion Soul!" Black fur covered Blake's arms and legs as hands were replaced with claws with pieces of Gambol Shroud's blade as her nails. Blake's eye became more like a feline as a black tail appeared on her back and her canines grew in her mouth. Her hair grew longer as the cat ears she hid under her bow spouted out.

"What the…" one of the bandits shouted in shock. "She can use Take Over magic?!"

"It doesn't matter!" Another bandit shouted. "We still outnumber her! Take her down!" In an instant, Blake appeared in front of the bandits and punched in the face, knocking him out. The other bandits tried to hit the transformed faunus but Blake easily dodged them and slashed the bandits with her bladed claws.

More bandits charged towards Weiss, who drew her rapier, Myrtenaster. She created a glyph under her feet and speed past some of them, slashing them with weapons. The ones that weren't hit by Weiss's attack turned around and charged at the heiress again. Weiss quickly stabbed her weapon on the ground and put her right fist on her left palm. "Ice Make: Floor!" The ground started to freeze underneath Weiss, not by the ice dust in her weapon but by her magic. The bandits slipped on the ice and fell on it. Then black snow and ice circle around Weiss's right arm. "Ice God's White Veil!" She swiped her arm horizontally, hitting the bandit with a wave of black snow and ice.

The remaining bandits charged towards Ruby but stopped when her body started to glow. "Requip: Rose Knight Armor!" Ruby shouted as the light faded. She's now wearing armor almost similar to Erza's Heaven Wheel Armor but the breastplate is made from rose petals like plates with Ruby's logo imprinted in the middle and her usual red hood in the back. She's also wearing a long shirt over her legs and metal gauntlets made from rose petal plates. She is still holding her Crescent Rose in her hands. A silver magic circle appeared under her feet as she disappeared from the bandits' sight and left several behind. She appeared behind the bandits and swung her scythe, sending them flying.

The leader backed up in fear as he saw his men get beaten so easily. He fell to the ground as Ruby pointed her scythe at the leader. "Now, you'll give back everyone and everything you stole and never come back to Wakalo ever again!" Not wanting to end up like his associates, the man ran to where the hostages were and take off their binds as he handed them over to Team RWBY.

A smile appeared Gideon's face as he saw his son and wife run towards him and gave him a hug. The other hostages ran towards their loved ones as Team RWBY looked on, happy about what they did. "I couldn't thank you enough." Gideon said.

"It's no problem." Ruby said as Blake and Yang put down several bags filled with money. "Here's the money they took you. Alright, we should head back to the guild."

"What about the reward money?"

"Keep it. Seeing everyone happy is enough for a reward for us."

"Again, thank you very much." Team RWBY smiled as they headed to the train station catch the next train to Magnolia.

Ruby: Oh yeah, Team RWBY was awesome as always. But still why do I have a feeling that something bad is about to happen? We haven't heard from those Nightwing guys in a while. Is it just me? Or are they planning something big? Next time: Countdown to Despair.
