The next morning, I woke up at my usual time of 6 a.m. so that I could train before the dual at 9:30. I got dressed quietly since Nico was still asleep. I dressed in a black top, black jeans and my black combat boots. (Last night my father had my clothes appear at the end of my bed.) When I finished getting dressed, I brushed my wings to make sure that all the feathers were going in the right direction, I always do this the morning of a fight so that my flight isn't messed up.
When I was done, I walked to the arena and began my training. I started by jumping straight up in the air and then drop back to the ground. I repeat that and start flying up to a certain height until eventually I reach 250 feet to fall from. After, I head to the chariot track to run. I run for 15 minutes at a Sprint with my wings tucked tightly to my back. When I finish, I find a move private area, so that I can start doing push-ups with my wings completely spread out. It makes it harder to exercise if my wings are spread out, also I don't want anyone to run into my wings as I exercise. As I finish the horn blows for breakfast, so I run back to the cabin to take a quick shower and to get my armor.
When I finally finished taking my shower and got dressed, I tapped the center of my necklace. My armor unfolded, but left off my helmet so that I can eat.
I woke up Nico and dragged him to breakfast with me.
As we walked he asked " Why is there armor plating at the base of your wings?"
"The armor is there to keep people from touching them, that area is very sensitive. The last person who touched that area, Thanatos had a black eye for 2 weeks. Hades laughed the first time father walked into the palace with his new black eye." I reply, smiling.
"What would happen if a camper were to try the same thing?" He asks
"Nothing good, though if someone where to try it, it would be best to do it as close to high noon as possible, though I still would recommend trying that" I really
"Why high noon?" He questions
"Not enough shadows for me to use on the person." I reply
"Hey Clarisse, better be ready for the dual in 45 minutes!" I shout at her as I enter the dinning pavilion.
I quickly get a plate of pancakes, sacrifice some to my father and Hades, and quickly start eating.
"What's the rush?" The girl, Annabeth, asks
"I want to finish my morning training in the forest. I've never been able to practice in a forest"I reply excited
"You realize that the forest is dangerous to be in? You shouldn't walk in there" Percy says.
"Then it's a good thing I won't be walking in the forest, right?" I reply.
"What will you be doing in the forest then?" Asks 2 boys from the Hermes table
"Flying between the trees," I get up to throw away my breakfast, " If anyone needs me I'll be in the forest, bye see you at the training grounds in 30 minutes!" As I leave I tap my necklace to have my helmet unfold. As soon as my helmet is on I take a running start and leap into the air. I circle once around the dinning pavilion, before I dive to gain speed and race down to the forest.
I weaved in and out of the trees, sometimes blending with the shadows do that I appeared to be little more than a ghost. I kept weaving between the shadows and trees until I realized that I was almost time for the dual to start. So I shot into the air above the training grounds, I see the entire camp there with Clarisse and her second in the middle of the ring. I decide to make an awesome entrance. I snap my wings shut 100 feet above the ring, so that I'll fall and land next to Clarisse. I hear gasps from the campers as I fall.
When I land next to Clarisse I ask, " So when do we start? I have patrol in 15 minutes and I'm hoping it will be interesting at least."
"You just fell from the sky" Clarisse's second said
"Yeah so? I usually practice at about 250 feet in the air. Anyways when are we starting? And are we able to use our powers or should I not since I don't think Ares kids have any powers?" I ask wanting to make her mad.
"No powers, and we start now" she and her second rushed forward and drew their swords.
I drew my sword and blocked the strike coming at my head. I feinted, parried, blocked and spun as we fought. It was fun. Father always said that I played with my opponent to much, but it's fun.
"Okay I'm bored now." I say after blocking another strike. I dance my way around them and bring the handle down on their heads, knocking them out.
"I'm bored so I'll be at my post at the entrance of the camp. You might want to take these 2 to the infirmary, they have mild concussions." I say emotionless as I shot into the air once more.
Travis Stoll POV
So ever since the new girl came, Conner and I have been trying to think of a good prank to pull on her. Though she's kind of terrifing when she's always wearing her black armor and her black wings.
"Hey Conner, remember what we did to Phoebe, from the hunters? With the centaur's blood?" I ask Conner
"Yeah...?"
"Well what if we were to mix it with pink paint and put it in water balloons to throw at her as she walks to dinner tonight?" I ask
"Oooooh, I'll go get the paint and balloons!" Conner replies excited.
-time skip to dinner-
We watch as she walks into the dinning pavilion after her patrol ends, this time she doesn't have her armor on so she's just in her tank top, black jeans, and boots. Everyone else is already seated, so Conner and I decide this is the best time to prank her. I aim for the spot between her wings as it's the only part of her back visible. I throw the pink paint ball mixed with centaur's blood, and hit her perfectly. Just as it hits her she stops walking and turns around to face us.
"We pranked the new girl!" I shout, smirking.
She starts walking towards me just as the centaur's blood takes affect. Her face changes to a look of complete agony. Her step falters and she falls to the ground, her wings crumpling underneath her. I rush towards her just as she reaches toward a shadow in the corner. As we reach her, she disappears into the shadows and we see her dark form fall from the sky into the lake in the distance.
She doesn't resurface.
