Normal

Fitting In

That day in gym they were still playing softball, and somehow Kagome ended up as team captain along with Sharpner. Based on the piercing look he shot her, she could tell he was still humiliated about her striking him out. She rolled her eyes at his typical behavior.

She surprised everyone by picking Gohan first and placing him as their catcher. Ideally he was better suited for a spot in the outfield. However, he was terrible at controlling his strength, especially once he got caught up in the game.

Throughout the game he seemed to do pretty well. And the only slip ups he had was when he would throw her the ball with a little too much force behind it. InuYasha had, had a similar issue. Without realizing it, he would treat her more roughly than he intended usually when he was shoving her out of danger. (She honestly had gotten more bruises that way than the battle itself.)

In all it wasn't anything she couldn't handle.

Later on in class, Gohan was pleased to see that Kagome had switched seats with one of their classmates so she could sit next to him. He had caught on pretty quickly in gym, how she was subtly helping him appear more normal. And for that he was immensely grateful.

So he decided to repay the favor. Kagome had the unfortunate luck of catching their teacher's attention that day as the woman constantly asked her questions. He diligently wrote down the answers on the corner of his notebook so that Kagome would be able to read off each one.

Luckily their teacher hadn't caught on. And the smile he had gotten in thanks had helped cement their friendship.
