Disappointment
Kagome yawned sleepily as she looked over to Yamcah, his gaze steadily focused on the road ahead of them. She had, had trouble falling asleep the night before. But she was excited now to be spending the day with her father.
As if sensing her gaze he turned to her and smiled. He nervously asked, "You excited for today?"
She returned the smile ten fold and nodded her head.
"Great," he replied, her reaction easing the tension out of him. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to spend the day with you yesterday."
"It's okay, I had fun with Gohan and the others," she said. After the Ferrris Wheel, they had only been able to go on one more ride. Despite their protests, Trunks and Goten were worn out so they called it a night.
"I'm glad," he spoke as he pulled into a nearby parking spot. They had stopped in front of a small café, which Kagome was eager to try. And as they stepped inside there was already someone waiting for them, well Yamcha at least.
A blond woman with glasses pulled her dad into a tight hug. Annoyed, Kagome folded her arms and watched the scene unfold.
"I didn't expect to see you today," Yamcha nervously chuckled as he pulled back from the hug. He kept one arm wrapped around the other woman's waist.
"Oh, was today the day you were going to spend with your daughter," the women replied with fake surprise.
Yamcha fell for it though and introduced the two. "This is my daughter, Kagome. Kagome this is a friend of mine, Camellia."
She was tempted to roll her eyes at the word friend, but Kagome plastered on her best smile and shook the woman's hand. She vaguely remembered her as the woman she had seen Yamcha with on one of her first nights in town. But she couldn't help but feel as if she had met her somewhere else before.
"It's nice to finally meet you. Your dad talks about you all the time," Camellia spoke.
Kagome bit her cheek to keep from saying something rude. "It's nice to meet you as well."
"Well, I'll just leave you two then," she said as she moved out of Yamcha's grasp.
"Why don't you join us," Yamcaha obliviously offered.
Camellia looked up at him and asked, "Are you sure? I wouldn't want to intrude."
"Of course you wouldn't be intruding, right Kagome," he laughed, looking at his daughter expectantly.
"Yeah, sure," she disappointedly replied.
