Old Grudges
Her head was pounding and she wished the ringing in her ears would just go away. She attempted to fight through the pain to recall what happened. She had been walking to school when she had been attacked from behind. She had sensed it coming, but hadn't quite been quick enough to stop it. She didn't even catch a glimpse of her attacker, and had immediately blacked out.
Groaning, she opened her eyes. Nothing was familiar. Though it seemed like she was in some abandoned old shrine. Her hands and feet were bound as well. (She really thought these days were over for her.) She could smell incense burning.
"Well, well, well," a familiar, silky voice said. Out from the shadows stepped Camellia. "Look who is finally awake."
Kagome narrowed her eyes and glared at the woman. She knew there had been something off about her, but to actually kidnap her. The woman was seriously unhinged. And that's when she felt it. It was so obvious, and she was inwardly berating herself for missing it. The woman was demonic. She knew what this was about now. "You're wasting your time. The jewel is gone."
Camellia laughed in the young miko's face. Approaching her, she grabbed Kagome's chin, and forced her to look her in the eye. "You naïve, little girl, this isn't about that silly little trinket. At least, not this time around."
"Then what do you want with me," Kagome demanded, confused by the woman's words. She struggled to free her hands on the binds.
"Maybe this will help jog your memory," Camellia said, letting Kagome's face go and taking a step back. Kagome felt a pulse of power as she watched in apprehension as Camellia's face changed. A familiar, snake like scar appeared over her right eye.
"Tsubaki," Kagome whispered, as her eyes widened with disbelief.
AN: Fun fact, Tsubaki was never actually killed in the manga.
