Robin sighed heavily. "You do know if you get yourself involved in this you'll-"
"Be the one to suffer, I know the consequences. You're forgetting I was there in London." Alice said sitting down in the chair next to Robin and leaning one elbow on the table.
Mikey leant into Raph. "What happened in London…? Do-do you know what happened in London? TELL ME!" Mikey hissed under his breathe right next to Raph's face.
Raph looked un-amused before flipping his palm backwards slapping Mikey with the back of it.
"Ow…" Mikey said sternly before moving away.
Robin and Alice spared a glance to the others before looking back at each other.
"Eris got involved in some really bad shit Alice, her "Blades" cult were larger then you think. They spread to infiltrators in the military." Robin started.
"You're kidding, how did that happen? The backgrounds checks the special ops put you through how could they not have caught on a simple merc?" Alice said shocked.
"They slipped under the radar, and that's not something for me to admit lightly. But it happened; they got it, at least ten of them. We don't know if Eris just hired the unknown or we have a mole in the higher-ups." Robin shook her head.
"You could only have known about this if one of them slipped up. You got here to confront Eris didn't you?" Alice said slowly.
Robin just looked up at her with pleading eyes.
"You were to get the information out of her, no matter what…" Alice continued.
"A group of recon scouts went missing when they were out in the field. We found all five of our men, but one was missing. A few months later we tracked down someone using a special ops code to access a bunker here in New York. It wasn't cleared so-"
"But when you got there it was empty?"
Robin nodded. "All except the body."
Alice's eyes widened. "He was dead?"
Robin nodded. "A few weeks later, another one turned up dead in the same bunker. Natural we interrogated our own, but none of the scouts had the access to pull something like this off." Robin continued.
"So how does this link to Eris?" Alice asked.
Robin dug into her jacket pocket and dug out some photos. "Only I knew what these symbols meant." She said laying them out for everyone to see.
The turtles leaned forward. "That's the Archangel symbol, the symbol of the Blades cult." Leo said recognizing the symbol that had been written on the walls in blood.
"Well that's not obvious, they couldn't think of anything more creative…" Mikey whined but was shut up when slapped around the back of the head be Donnie sat next to him.
There was a moment of silence before Alice spoke up again. "So you came to see me because?"
"I know she's dead Ali-kins, but you're her sister, your parents founded the Blades. There has to be something you know or anything you can tell me to help me. I don't want to go back with nothing have you come out a suspect." Robin said urgently.
Alice placed a hand of Robin's. "I know somewhere that might help."
"The Archangel building?" Robin pressed.
Alice shook her head. "We can't go there, I've had someone clean up after…" She paused for a moment.
The four turtles looked at each other, knowing full well she was referring to the body of her sister that still lay on the top floor of the building.
"What if someone reports her missing, the mercenaries are still out there." Robin pressed.
"They weren't there, when it happened. But they will probably notice the lack of communication. All the same if they try to investigate they know they'll get caught. I don't think we have to worry about them." Alice explained.
"Apart form the one now working singularly under the name of the Blades." Robin agreed.
Alice nodded. "There's a bunker that my parents used to use. It might or might not help, either way, it might be worth having a look. Alice's voice sounded defeated and low.
"I know this is difficult for you Ali-kins, I wouldn't be here if I didn't care…" Robin tried to comfort.
"I know, they would have sent someone less understanding, I appreciate you keeping this controlled…" Alice stopped for a moment. "You'll be staying at your apartment here right, same one?" Alice asked.
"Yeah same one." Robin nodded. Her brow knitting.
"Good, we'll meet you there then we can take your truck to the bunker." Alice said standing.
"We? You mean just you right?" Robin urged.
Alice sighed looking down at her. "We'll need back up incase, besides six pair of eyes and four ninjas is better then just us two. I trust these guys with my life Robin, just trust me." Alice said sternly.
Robin frowned and stood. "Very well, meet me at midnight and we'll head out. I'll be doing some recon in the mean time." Robin said holding her hand out to Alice.
Alice nodded and handed her the mic she unhooked. Robin took it and headed for her truck, there was a loud rumble before the front of her truck disappeared and the roar of the engine echoed out of the sewers.
Alice stood there watching the hole in the wall. She felt a heavy hand on her shoulder, but didn't look away.
"Alice, you ok?" Raph said softly standing close behind her.
"She's holding something back. This whole situation just got out of hand." She turned to the other's Raph's hand fell from her shoulder.
"Listen, I'm not expecting you to want to get involved. You need to protect your family, and the further from me you get the safer you'll be. My family has dragged me down deep enough, I don't want you all to get dragged down with me." Alice explained.
"But just now you wanted-" Raph objected.
"I wasn't thinking, I'm expecting too much from you, there's a chance you could all be exposed for what you are, there are no secrets when it comes to the military. Your family is more important then the history of mine…" Alice continued.
"You're right." A proud voice came from behind them. Everyone turned to see Master splinter appear from the Dojo.
"Master Splinter, you can't expect us to sit by whilst Alice goes into this alone!?" Leo argued.
"No I do not, I meant she is right about protecting our family." Master Splinter walked up to Alice, towering over her; he placed a hand on her shoulder.
"You are a part of our family, and we protect our own." Splinter said warmly smiling softly down at her.
Alice bit back tears and looked down. "Thank you…" She all but whispered.
Splinter smiled and nodded. "Now my sons, you must be careful, remember your best weapon is the shadows. With these mercenaries walking around no one is safe. I know you will do your best."
"I won't let anything happen to them, and I won't let anyone find out about any of you. I promise." Alice said softly, her head still hanging.
…
Later on the evening the ninjas plus one were running through the sewers making their way to Robin's apartment block.
"It's straight ahead, this should bring us up in the alley just down the side with the fire escape." Alice said looking up at the manhole cover above them.
"Right then." Leo climbed up the ladder and pushed the cover up looking around outside before moving the heavy metal plate across and jumping out of the hole into the shadows.
"Looks clear." He confirmed before everyone else climbed out.
"Which floor is it?" Leo asked looking up at the tall building beside them.
"Uh, top floor…" She huffed.
"It's time like this I wish we could take the elevator…" Donnie sighed.
"Dude! You could totally build one! Like a portable evaluator! Made of impenetrable glass and has rockets! And slot of pizza deliveries!" Mikey started to ramble excitedly.
"Wow…Just wow…" Donnie looked at Mikey shocked.
"Wow" as in good idea Mikey?" Mikey pleaded.
"No I'm just surprised you know what the word impenetrable means…" Donnie said flatly before climbing up the fire escape following the others who had already started climbing when Mikey was ranting.
When they reached the top floor all be it exhausted Alice knocked on the window lightly.
The curtain was swished back revealing Robin in her full leather armour. She leaned down to slide the window up letting them all in. She looked down seeing they had climbed all the way up the fire escape.
"For ninjas you're not all that creative…" Robin said flatly.
"Hey!" Raph snapped.
"Now, now children. Lets just all get along shall we?" Alice said patting Robin and Raph's back whilst they stare each other down.
"Robin, I'm going to need my stuff." Alice said taking her jacket off.
"Aw yeah! Do we get to watch Alice strip again!?" Mikey cheered. It only took a moment for Raph to tackle him to the floor.
"Uh, again?" Robin said looking shocked at Alice.
"They didn't see anything I was invisi- never mind! Where are my leathers?" Alice grumbled.
Robin just smirked and nodded in the direction of the metal cabinet in the corner of the room.
"Have to say I was expecting something…larger…" Leo admitted walking behind Alice.
"This is just the cover room." Alice said.
""Cover room?" Leo repeated.
Alice smirked and opened the metal cabinet revealing a large space lined with weaponry and armour and a workbench in the center and a training room at the far end.
"Woah…" All four turtles said simultaneously.
"This place hasn't changed…" Alice said casually.
"That's not entirely true…there's a coffee machine in the back now…" Robin shrugged leaning against the wall next to Alice.
"Soo! When you said you had learnt a little martial arts…you meant…" Raph started.
"Robin taught me everything I know and I was in the special ops for a couple years…but it wasn't for me." Alice explained.
Robin laughed. "Which means she got a little trigger happy." Robin continued.
"Hey I was not trigger happy…I just got a little OP that's all…" Alice said defensively.
"OP?" Leo repeated.
"Dude, it means over-powered. Learn the lingo bro!" Mikey rubbed in smirking.
"Wow! Is this a Colt 1873 Single Action Army issue! Aka the 'Peacemaker'!?" Donnie started to drool over one of the guns on the table. Mikey zipped over knocking Donnie away from it, his eyes beamed over it.
"Wow! I real gun!" Mikey picked it up accidently pulling the trigger and firing a bullet. It shot towards Donnie causing him to duck his head into his shell dodging the bullet.
"MIKEY!" Everyone yelled. Robin walked over and snatched the gun from his hands putting it back in it's place.
"Why don't you guys set you the truck, though I'd stay out of the driver seat…unless you want a quick death…" Robin threatened.
All four turtles gulped and walked towards the metal doors Robin was pointing too. When they approached the doors they slid open revealing an elevator.
"Oh, now there's an elevator, could have used this fifteen minutes ago…" Mikey whined.
Alice looked over to Raph, their eyes meeting with a fragment of a tender smile before the doors slid closed and the elevator went down to the private basement.
Alice felt a painful tug at her heart before she was snapped back into reality.
"Alice, really? Why are you bringing these guys, you know we can handle it alone." Robin said defensively. "Don't you trust me anymore?"
"What? Robin, you know that's not it. They were with me through everything; saved my life…they're like family to me."
Robin stood there for a moment. "And that…Red one? Raph-whatever, what's the deal with him?"
"What do you want to hear Robin? I love him. I love em' all but Raph is…" Alice started.
Robin put her hand up. "Alright! Alright! I don't need to know the mutant details…" Robin grumbled.
"What's the big deal anyway? You wanna catch these guys we need as much help as possible." Alice slammed the metal cabinet door closed once she had dragged out her leathers and looked at Robin, leaning against the metal door.
"It's nothing! I just, don't trust them, but you know. Can you blame me?" Robin said motioning to the elevator.
Alice shook her head. "Not, I don't blame you, I know what you're like, but you can trust me. They've got your back just like me." Alice smiled.
Robin looked up at her leaving towards one of the changing rooms. "Things just got difficult…" Robin sighed heavily.
…
"Uuuugh! How long are they gunna be! I'm bored! Wanna do some Ninja stuffs!" Mikey whined in the driver seat of the truck pretending to drive when it was in park.
"Heh! Girls always take so long to get ready…" Raph grumbled.
"So, what do we think about Robin?" Leo finally asked.
"I think if Alice trusts her then we should trust her…" Raph started.
"But…?" Leo pressed.
"But I think Alice knows she's hiding something so I say we keep our guard up." Raph confirmed.
"Good idea, I don't know about you guys, but getting involved with a special ops isn't exactly settling for me…" Donnie chirped up.
"I know what you mean, look we'll just watch her carefully but not make her aware that we're weary of her, it could raise complications…" Leo ordered.
"Got it!" The others said together.
At that moment the elevator started to hum and the doors slid open revealing Robin first. When she stepped out she glared at Mikey sat in the driver seat touching the steering wheel.
Mikey 'eeped' before rolling up in his shell and whizzed into the back seat. Robin kept glaring at him. Mikey gulped feeling her gaze boring into him, he kept crawling back until he was in the boot. Robin finally eased her glare and smirked before walking to the driver seat.
Mikey sulked whilst the others tried to stifle a laugh. When robin Moved Alice walked out of the elevator behind her. That caught Raph's attention.
She had similar leathers to Robin, snuggly fit and covered her body, held together with a long zip under the front. There were a few gaps in hers, at her hips and elbows and underarms, clearly for more free movement. Her large belt held a large amount of ammo and a handgun along with a large sniper rifle poking out the top of her head.
Raph had to gulp to moisten his throat again. "Woah, you look…badass." Raph smirked.
Alice laughed. "You have no idea…" She purred and walked over to the car sitting next to Robin in the passenger side.
"Hold on to your shells kids!" Robin exclaimed before starting up the engine. The car roared and shook making everyone bounce in their seats.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow ,ow…" Mikey repeated every time his head hit the ceiling of the truck.
Alice pressed a button opening the shutter to a tunnel that lead up to the surface from the basement.
"It's been too long…" Alice grinned with excitement.
Robin put the truck in gear. "Way too long Ali-kins…" Robin said with a dark smirked before the truck lurched forward up the tunnel towards the surface.
The shutter closed behind them leaving the echo of turtles screaming in their wake.
