The road started to slip down into the underground car park beneath the Archangel building. The roar of the truck echoed in the massive empty space the headlights leading the way to a large exit at the end of the car park.
When the car shut off they were in complete darkness, Robin was the first to turn her flash light on. She turned to Alice seeing her heading for the door, her hand reached out and stopped her gently by her arm.
"Alice, you've gone through a lot this evening, you don't have to go in. We can take car of it…" She tried to explain, her words failing her.
There was a sudden silence in the car, the turtles in the back sat very still so they didn't break it.
Alice looked up at Robin for a moment and just smiled warmly. "I got your back Robin." She chirped.
Robin's eyes widened, her memory taking her back to the last time she had said those words.
…
The sound of gunfire was deafening her; there were no intervals between the spray of bullets firing towards her. She looked over to Alice reloading her gun with some speed; Robin ground her teeth and leaned around the corner to fire down the hallway.
"Damn!" Robin heard Alice curse behind her; she leaned back into cover and looked to her. She had been hit some time ago in her left thigh; she was clutching it trying to stop the bleeding.
Robin couldn't take her eyes off the blood pouring from her wound. She was even more shocked to watch her stand up against the wall and cock her gun once. Looking p at her, Alice had the most determined face on it almost scared her didn't look like her at all.
Alice nodded down at Robin and signalled with the butt of her gun that was ready to go. Robin could help but noticed the blood was still trickling from her wound on her leg. She reached out and took her wrist not so gently.
"Alice, you're seriously injured, you don't have to go out there. I can…" Robin's words were failing her, squeezing her eyes shut she bit back a curse and the urge to jump out in front of the fire.
Her eyes widened when she felt a hand on hers, looking up a stray tear flew off her cheek when she saw Alice face. She had the warmest smile tugging at her lips her face glowing with kindness.
"I've got your back Robin." She all but chirped as if she was saying thank you…
…
"Robin? You ok?" Alice placed both of her hands on hers leaning slightly closer, she had her eyes wide and hadn't moved in a while.
Robin focused on Alice's concerned face before softening with a warm smile. "Only you could ask someone else that in a situation like this…" She said shaking her head.
There was another silence whilst Robin and Alice smiled at each other, saying words that didn't need to be spoken.
Mikey leaned closer to Leo. "Dude…Robin's smiling…should we be scared?" He whispered under his breath.
Leo just rolled his eyes and smacked his hand over Mikey's mouth to shut him up. "You're your own worst enemy Mikey…"
Raph felt a pang of jealousy that Robin and Alice had so much history. He knew it was ridiculous, but he wanted to know her as well as she did. He couldn't help but let it piss him off.
"AUm, guys I hate you break this up, but it's getting lighter, we'd better get this done now before someone finds us." Donnie interrupted.
Robin closed her eyes and sighed. "Alight then, let's get going."
"There's an elevator just through the door we'll start from the top and work our way down. Her head office was at the top so I can only imagine whatever we're looking for is up there." Alice explained as everyone got out of the car.
As the headed for the door, Alice took out her phone reading a message Raph had sent earlier.
'Remind me to find out just how far da zip on the front goes down when we get back…
P.S I not very good at this but I know this is difficult for ya and everythin, just ya know…am here for ya.'
Alice smiled and closed her phone joining the others in the elevator before pressing the button for the top floor.
She squeezed in next to Raph and whilst they went up, she reached for his hand gently slipping her fingers through his and holding tightly. The small touch made her feel a little more relaxed knowing she had so many people who cared for her with her.
Raph was a little surprised when he felt her hand tightly squeeze his. He looked down at their hands before looking up at her; he was even more surprised to see her looking at him with a soft smile. The sight all but forced the corners of his mouth to tug into a smile back at her. He squeezed her hand in return and gently stroked his thumb along her knuckles.
When the doors opened they were snapped out of the small moment of bliss and empties the elevator into the top floor.
They all stopped just inside the large room, the wall of glass they had broken through before was now fixed and Eris's body had been cleaned up after and removed.
The silence didn't last long before Alice spoke up with a certain tone of confidence. "There maybe a door around here somewhere, I'll check the desk for a key or anything." Alice said walking across the large room to the far desk.
As Alice walked off the others spanned out to look for anything. A small cough caught Robin's attention and she turned round to see Leo standing awkwardly behind her.
"Uh…I just wanted to apologise for earlier. We've not really worked with anyone else before and I'm very protective of my family. That includes Alice." Leo said calmly looking down as his fiddled his fingers together.
Robin was a little taken back by his willingness to apologise. She smirked and placed a heavy hand on his shoulder.
"You've got nothing to apologise for, you're a good leader and I appreciate you looking out for my Ali-ki-I mean Alice." Robin said honestly.
Leo gave a pleased smiled standing a little straighter. "But I'm better…" Robin continued with a smirked.
Leo felt a competitive grin on his face. "We'll just see about that." Leo said proudly folding his arms over his chest.
Robin cocked her hip rest in her on it. "I love a good competition. I'd watch your back there Blue." Robin said smugly before walking away.
Leo smirked watching her walk away for a second before going I a different direction. She said watch your own back not watch hers as she walks away…perv…He scorned himself.
Alice started to rustle through the many draws of the desk looking through the papers. She jumped when Mikey suddenly appeared at her side with a wide grin on his face.
"Hey Look! It's another one of those giggly things!" Mikey cheered poking at the hula dancer on the desk.
Alice looked at the most unusual thing she would find on Eris' desk and tilted her head. "What the…?"
"Look! look! There was another one at the secret bunker we were just at!" Mikey said taking out the one he had taken earlier.
Alice looked between the too as they moved still thinking is odd there would be something like this in either locations.
"Hey Alice! We found a door!" Donnie's voice called form the far left of the room.
Everyone looked up to see Donnie waving an arm from behind a pillar signalling them over. Walking over to him they saw a door hidden behind a curtain between the pillar.
"Well, I'll give her a ten for décor, but a zero for originality." Robin commented when she approached.
"Looks like it needs a key…" Donnie said looking at the lock.
"You can't just pick the lock?" Robin said shrugging.
"I'm a genius not a criminal…" Donnie said flatly.
"Just asking..." Robin said putting her hands up in defence. "Did you find anything at the desk?" Robin said looking at Alice. "Alice?"
Alice was looking at the lock then looked to Mikey. "Mikey can I see that for a second?" Alice said holding her hand out to him.
Mikey looked down at the hula dancer he had in his hand from the desk and gripped it tighter. "Will I get baaaack?" He said cautiously.
Alice rolled her eyes. "Yes Mikey, please?"
"You prooomise?" Mikey said again.
"MIKEY!" Everyone yelled together.
"Ok, ok!" Mikey whined handing the hula dancer to Alice.
She smiled. "Thank you, I'll do your favourite pizza when we get back alright?" Alice said as she inspected the hula dancer over in her hand.
Mikey's eyes gleamed. "PIZZA! Oh yeah! Hear that? You guys don't got my woman cooking your favourite meals for ya!" Mikey said smugly pointing at the others.
"Who's woman!?" Raph fumed from behind him flames bursting from his eyes.
"Eep! Your woman! YOUR WOMAN!" Mikey yelled shrinking into his shell protecting himself from Raph's threatening fists.
Alice ignored what was going on and turned the hula dance upside down. She smiled when she saw a key was attached to the inside of the hula dancers skirt. She took it off and put it into the lock turning it until the door beeped and swung open.
"Ha!" Alice said triumphantly.
"Nice! How the hell did you figure that one out?" Robin said cocking an eyebrow at Alice.
"Mikey's "specialness" comes in hand from time to time…" Alice said smugly air-quoting the word special.
Mikey's head popped out the top of his shell. "You think I'm special!?" He beamed at her.
Alice smiled and patted his head. "Yes, Mikey, in many ways…" She said before walking through the door. "Not all of them good…" she continued under her breathe.
The others stifled a chuckle, when Mikey bounded through the door proudly.
…
Everyone made their way into the secret room, a bright blue light lit up at the end. When they got a little closer they came to a large monitor screen with several communication links open across the board.
"What is this?" Robin asked looking up at the forever-stretching screen.
"It looks like a communication hub, maybe this is how Eris get in contact with all of her assets." Donnie said analysing the different com links.
"Including the ones that infiltrated the military?" Alice said looking to Donnie.
"Maybe so…hmm. Looks like there's a voice muffler too. Eris was more then just a criminal, she was an information broker." Donnie confirmed.
"An information broker?" Robin repeated.
"Yes, look at all the different contacts, there's thousands, hundreds of thousands!" Donnie said excitedly.
There was a silence before everyone jumped at the sound of someone voice coming through the monitor. One of the communication hubs lit green on the screen.
"Archangel. Come in Archangel, the boards gone dark we need our instruction."
Everyone looked to Alice, she hesitated before leaning in and pressing the screen to activate her mic.
Leo had his hand round Mikey's mouth for safety reasons.
"Archangel. Come in Archangel. Are we still ago?"
Alice gulped before speaking into the mic.
"This is Archangel, our communications went dark but we are back online. Relay status report." Alice's voice was muffled with an almost robotic tone.
They waited for an answer. It seemed like forever before the hub lit up again.
"We're currently reporting from a military base in New York. Everyone is in position and ready to go. Just waiting for orders."
Alice paused before speaking again.
"Negative, circumstances have changed. All agents are to report to Archangel tower. Repeat that's negative. Pull out."
"Confirmed Archangel. Orders received and understood, all agents will report to Archangel tower in 24 hours. Over and out."
When the com channel went clue she let out a breathe she hadn't realised she was holding. She felt a hand on her back as she hunched over the monitor desk.
"What do you want to do with this?" Robin asked softly from behind her.
Alice took a moment before looking up. She reached for the power cord and took out a knife from her boot. Folding the wire over the blade she torn it through the heavy wiring, spark burst for a moment before the whole room went dark.
"No one should have this kind of power…" Alice said sternly before turning to leave the room.
Everyone followed her out; when they emerged they shielded their eye from the rising sun out of the glass wall over looking the city.
"You did the right thing Alice. I'll call up my scouts and have them here for an ambush. We'll take care of all of this." Robin said rubbing Alice's back in comfort.
"Thanks Robin…And my…parents Bunker?" she asked looking up at her.
"As far as the military and myself are concerned, it doesn't exist." Robin conformed smiling.
Alice nodded. "It's a good thing my sister was the clever kind of stupid, I can't imagine what would have happened if Shredder had got his hands on that hub." Alice turned to the others.
"Yeah, that would have been bad…" Leo agreed.
"Who's to say he didn't?" Raph asked.
"He would at least tried to break back in or take the key if he had known…it's not like he could have taken it with him." Donnie explained.
"Well at least this is over…for now." Leo said.
"Who's Shredder?" Robin asked looking at the others in confusion.
Alice smiled and shook her head. "I'll tell you in the car, let's get the hell out of here, I'm starving…" Alice said stretching her arms above her head.
"Pizza?" Mikey asked innocently.
"Pizza." Alice confirmed.
…
"Sir, we just received confirmation to pull out of operation Archangel. The orders were received from the tower."
A voice explained from a monitor in a dark room.
"Hmm, ignore that order. I will take care of the intruders at the tower. The Operation is still ago." Shredder's voice sounded.
"Yes Sir. Over and out."
Shredder watched the com turn blue and turned around in his chair to regard the scientist behind him.
"You have done well to transmit all the communication channels remotely." Shredder said darkly as he stood from the chair.
"Th-thank you sir." The male scout said on his knees bowing his head to the large man in front of him.
"We will have greater need for you." Shredder said walking up to him and landing a heavy hand on the scouts shoulder.
"And you confirm that your, friend is in New York?" shredder asked.
"Y-yes Sir. She got here a few days ago with a few others and myself, as you know Master. She can got you into Area 0, she has access to all the files and codes." The scout whimpered.
"Good, then she is our next target. Take me to her." Shredder confirmed.
