When Velvet awoke, Coco had already left for work leaving a small note behind.

Dear Velvet,

Sorry for leaving you alone this morning, I got called in early. I made you some breakfast, it's just sitting in the oven for you.

Love,

Coco

Velvet sighed, unhappy that she still hadn't seen Coco since yesterday morning, but she felt a little bit better when she saw that Coco had taken the time to make her some pancakes.

The rest of the workday was pretty uneventful for Coco, it was just her having to work with another set of fall designs one of her coworkers had whipped up. Before long it was the end of the day, and Coco headed back over to the warehouse to go out on patrol with Blake. She was nervous, excited, and a bit scared about what would happen that night.

"Glad you could make it," Blake told her from outside the warehouse.

Coco looked at her and commented on her attire, "Wow they really do need a designer here."

"Well, Weiss was the one who made these outfits and she was more worried about function over fashion. Honestly, we should just be happy we got to have two colours and that they don't have the Schnee logo on them."

"That is a fair point," Coco told her before they both descended into the hideout.

"So, we'll have to hang out here for a couple hours so that Weiss can watch over us on her computer," Blake informed her.

"Wait, you mean she doesn't live down here?" Coco joked.

"Nah, it isn't fancy enough for her. I've told her she should fix the place up style wise, but she told me it was costing enough money as it is."

"Well she does have a point, I can't imagine how much this all costs."

"Trust me you don't want to know. She went over it with me before she made all this and I almost had a heart attack."

"Anyways I should probably get suited up," Coco told her before she went off into the other room.

Blake sat there for a while, and eventually, Coco returned in a suit that was more than a little snug on her.

"Remind me to make Weiss make me a larger suit…" Coco said mostly to herself.

"Next time pick a suit based on size rather than the colour," Blake said with a judgemental look.

"Hey, I'd rather look good than be comfortable."

Blake gave Coco a very obvious eye roll, "Anyways, let's get you your equipment." She said before walking across the room with her.

At the end of the room, there was a large steel door with a biometric scanner on the side of it.

"Coco, why don't we try your fingerprints?"

Coco stepped forward, placed her hand on the scanner, and stared into the lens that was a couple inches above it. After a couple seconds, it said, "User Coco Adel recognized, opening door," in a female robotic voice.

"It is way too creepy that Weiss got my fingerprints…" Coco told her as the door opened.

"She has your retinas on file too."

That sent a bit of a chill down Coco's spine, but she decided that she should talk to Weiss about this stuff another time.

When they stepped inside, rows of lights along the ceiling flicked on, revealing rows and rows of shelves. The first set of shelves had many sets of grappling hooks, rope, climbing kits, a gun to fire the hook, and com sets. The rest of the shelves, save for the last one, contained many different types of weapons, ranging from a basic combat knife to a high-tech railgun. The last row of shelves was spray painted black and red and contained experimental tech.

"Holy crap," Coco said as she took it all in.

"Yeah, she wanted to make sure any hero she recruited could work to the best of their ability."

"Still this is a stupid amount of weaponry like someone could take over a small country with this armoury."

"Yeah… She was a little overzealous…"

Coco continued looking at the vast array of weapons, but eventually, she started to smile and gave Blake a knowing look.

"What are you thinking about?" Blake asked nervously.

"Well if this is the variety of weaponry Weiss buys, I can only imagine what your closet looks like." Coco joked.

Blake paused for a moment thinking she meant clothes, but when it hit her, her face lit up red from embarrassment, especially since she knew she was right, "What she has in there is none of your business!" She replied immediately.

Coco laughed it off and started to grab herself some equipment. She started with grabbing the grappling hook and then she moved on to the weaponry. She grabbed a pair of basic brass knuckles and placed them on her belt. Then, she saw something that struck her fancy. It didn't look like anything special, it was just a metal bat, but when she read the description cleanly put next to it she saw that yes it was a bat, but it was made from a special material allowing it to be strong enough to stop a bullet, but light enough for it to be swung around with ease.

Blake looked at Coco's choice in weaponry and laughed, "Out of everything here you picked those?"

"Hey, when I was a teenager I hung around some bad crowds and these guys kept me on top," Coco explained resting the bat on her shoulder.

Blake sighed, "I'd say it's hard to imagine you as a thug, but it suits you well."

"So, what do you use?"

"Well, mostly my hands, but I keep these guys on hand as well." Blake pulled out two pistols from their holsters on her belt. One was a basic 9mm, but the other was a little more powerful a desert eagle.

Coco gave them a little whistle, "Do they let you bring those guys to work too?"

"Well, they let me use my 9mm."

The two of them chatted for a while longer before they heard the elevator descend into the hideout announcing Weiss's arrival. When she stepped out of the elevator she was still wearing her grey pinstriped suit, clearly just have gotten off from work.

"Sorry about taking so long, hopefully, you guys weren't waiting too long," Weiss told them as she walked over to the computer.

"Don't worry about it Weiss," Blake told her while she gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Anyways, we should get going we've been waiting long enough," Blake told everyone.

Before they made it to the elevator, Coco's scroll started to ring, and after a couple of rings she picked up, "Hey Vel, everything okay?"

"…"

"Vel?"

"When are you coming home?"

"I don't know… There's a lot of designs this season."

"Oh… Okay…"

"Vel, I'm sorry I'll make it up to you tomorrow on my day off. We'll have the whole day together."

"Okay…"

"I love you Vel."

"I love you too Coco…" Velvet finally hung up and curled up on the couch.

As Coco went up the elevator she debated whether or not she should head home right now to comfort Velvet. I mean she was going through a hard time right now, but Coco had to go on this patrol if she wanted to keep her safe.

Blake noticed Coco's unrest, and decided to ask about it, "Everything okay?"

"Yeah… Velvet just misses me," Coco replied.

"Well, you don't need to go on patrol every night, so once you get into the swing of things you can see her more often. The only reason I'm out almost every night is that Weiss is here with me." Blake explained.

After their short conversation, the elevator hit the top floor and Coco felt a little bit better. The pair of them left the elevator and Blake led Coco to another 'wooden' crate across the warehouse. As they got closer, Coco figured that it was another secret crate just like the elevator, "How many of these crates do you have?"

"What do you mean?"

"How many of the crates in here open up and reveal some secret room?"

"Well, including the elevator and the garage…" Blake started trying to think about it, "Ten."

"Ten! How could you possibly need ten?"

"Well, holding cells, garage, elevator, stairs, fuse box, an operating room, there's a couple of them that have living quarters in case we need to lay low, and we have one that's an escape route. Plus a good amount of those can be accessed through the main area," Blake explained.

"How does she have enough money to build all of this!?" Coco exclaimed in disbelief.

"Well, Weiss's family does own one of the largest dust companies in the world, plus since she took charge their unethical business practices have ceased, and that has drawn in more customers."

"Touché," Coco replied ending the conversation.

Blake tapped the side of the crate causing a small panel to appear with a couple biometric scanners on it, and just like the other ones she put her hand on one and looked into the other. After a couple of beeps, the door slid open making a gap large enough for a couple tankers to roll through. It leads to a decently steep ramp that led down to a room that looked almost identical to a floor in a parking garage, except it was very brightly lit and the walls were carved into bedrock. There were several vehicles parked in the spaces, ranging from high-speed motorcycles to a literal tank.

"So… are you guys preparing to fight an army?"

"Well, not specifically, but we want to be able to fight anything that comes our way."

"And as a police officer are you okay with one person owning this much firepower?"

"Well, yes and no. If I went into a crime boss's hideout and found out they had this much firepower then it'd scare the hell out of me, but knowing it's Weiss I have faith that she'll use it well." Blake explained to her.

"It still is too much, even for someone you trust," Coco told her with a stern look that lasted a couple seconds, but afterward she changed the subject, "So, what're we taking out?"

"Well, I normally take a motorcycle. Do you know how to ride one?"

Coco just looked at her not believing that Blake didn't think she had ever ridden a motorcycle.

"Sorry I asked," Blake replied very shortly after.

Blake and Coco walked over to the bikes, both of which were sports bikes painted matte black and had helmets hanging off of the handlebars of the same colour. They each mounted the bikes closest to them, and drove out the door they came in through, which closed after Blake pressed a button next to her handlebar.

Blake spoke into her com to get details from Weiss, "So, where are we patrolling tonight?"

"Well there have been a lot of reports of suspicious individuals near the east end for the last couple days, so you two should start there. I'll send you to the location where they seem to be sighted the most."

"Roger that." After a couple of seconds the visor on their helmets lit up showing a small map of the city on the bottom left-hand corner that contained a yellow line showing them the fastest route to their destination, but more impressively the helmet put the same line on the road in front of them.

"So Weiss, how much would it cost for you to install one of these into my car?" Coco asked.

"A lot more than it should," Weiss replied sounding a little sour about it.

Coco and Blake quickly drove down the Vale streets late at night barely obeying traffic laws, though they both knew that they immediately go out the window if there's an emergency. Eventually, they made it to downtown Vale along Luna Avenue.

"Blake, Coco, the sightings seem to be focussed around Luna Avenue, and Shawcross Street, so keep an eye out," Weiss told them over the coms.

"So, is there anyone else on patrol tonight, or is it just us?"

"Currently there is only one other operative in the field," Weiss reported.

"Wait, so there are only three people out and two of them are looking into some reports of 'suspicious individuals'?"

"Well, it's a trial night for you, so I gave you an easy assignment. Blake's with you because she needs to make sure you don't get hurt and judge how well you do in the field." Weiss explained to her.

Coco nodded and turned to Blake, "So how do we do this? Look for a building with a gargoyle and sit there until we see something?"

"Normally on a patrol, we'd go to a vantage point and keep watch over a designated sector, but since we're going after something more specific tonight we'll be watching more specific targets," Blake informed her sounding very professional, "Weiss, what businesses are along these streets?"

"Give me a sec," Weiss quickly did a couple searches on her computer and reported back, "Well, there are some restaurants, a bank, a dust shop, and a couple pawn shops."

"Okay, it's too late for a bank robbery, the restaurants aren't a good target, so either there's something very valuable in the pawn shops, or the dust shop is the target," Blake deducted.

"It's at 174 Shawcross Street," Weiss informed her before she could even ask for an address.

A waypoint appeared on both Coco's and Blake's visors and they quickly drove down to the building across the street from the dust shop. They walked into the alleyway and Blake sized up the wall in front of them.

"Okay, we should be able to use the grapples here."

"Yeah about that, how do I use this thing?" Coco asked while she held out the grapple gun Ruby had made.

Blake pulled out her grapple gun and started to walk Coco through how to use it, "Okay, first of all, you have to twist the dial near the base of the gun to set the distance, then you have to hit the button next to it," as Blake hit the button a quiet tsh came out of the gun while it stored up some compressed air, "When the sound stops you aim and pull the trigger." With that Blake shot her hook up and it sailed only a couple feet higher than the roof of the building.

"That's a good shot," Coco said, impressed. Now it was her turn, she set up the dial, hit the button, and fired, but unlike Blake's, it clanged off of the fire escape and landed next to her.

"Maybe you should do it…" Blake nodded and quickly shot Coco's grappling hook a couple feet away from her own.

"Okay, now tug on the rope to make sure it's secure, clip your belt onto it, grab the small device in your rightmost pocket, connect it to the rope, and finally hit the button on the side." Blake pressed the button and shot up the rope, very quickly reaching the top of the six-story building. At the top, she let go of the motor and got launched just over ledge landing cleanly on the roof. After a couple of seconds, Coco followed Blake's steps and followed suit, however her dismount wasn't as graceful. Instead of landing cleanly on the roof she was thrown over the ledge and tumbled to a stop on the roof. Coco laid there for a moment, but her rest was interrupted by the sound of laughter coming through her com system.

"Excuse me for not being perfect first try."

"Don't worry about it, you'll get the hang of it quickly, but you will have to put up with some laughter. Oh, and you should probably know that Weiss has cameras in the helmets."

"And I'm guessing that blunder is going to be saved?"

"Come on, you know you would save a clip like that if it was someone else," Weiss said in her defense over the coms.

"Anyways, what are we looking for here?" Coco asked getting back on her feet.

"Well, since there have been multiple reports of suspicious individuals near here I'm guessing someone is planning a robbery and wanted to do some recon."

Coco walked up to the ledge and simply watched the street with Blake. For an hour they sat in silence, but then Coco decided to break it.

"So, as a police officer are you really okay with all of this?"

Blake turned to her and paused for a moment, this clearly was something that did bother her, "Yes and no. If we lived in a less corrupt city I would say that this should be done by the police, but since that's not going to happen in our city this stuff might just be necessary."

"So, when all of this is over and you clean up the city do you turn yourself in?"

Before Blake could answer, a van pulled up into the alleyway next to the dust shop, so she pulled out a pair of binoculars.

"What are you doing? Shouldn't we head over there?" Coco asked.

"And do what? Attack someone for parking in an alleyway? We don't know if these guys are the robbers yet."

After a couple of minutes, Blake saw the robbery in progress, using the camera inside of the binoculars she took a couple of pictures that quickly got printed out the side.

"Let's go." She said before prepping her grapple gun for another shot. Once she got Coco's gun ready as well, Blake launched her grappling hook all the way across the street and onto the roof of the dust building. She hooked up the small motor to the rope and got ready to slide down to the building. Directly afterward, Coco did the same and they quickly slid down the ropes. The two of them gained a lot of speed from the combination of the small motor and the angle of the rope. On the way down Blake lifted her legs so they were at a right angle with her body and told Coco to do the same. They gained more speed getting closer, and closer to the building until the two of them smashed through the large window on the front of the store, triggering the alarm.

There were three armed robbers in the middle of the store who reeled back in surprise of the sudden intrusion, but none of them were close enough to have been taken out by it. Blake and Coco rolled when they hit the floor and quickly ran towards the robbers trying to close the distance before they started shooting. The middle robber, the largest of the group, was the first to regain his senses, he quickly turned his rifle at Blake, but before he could fire off a single shot Coco had leaped over the display case in front of him and tackled him to the ground. She rolled off of him landing back on her feet already holding her bat.

Blake had gotten to her feet, but she had a gun trained on her. The leftmost robber shot of a burst of three rounds narrowly missing Blake's torso, and Blake quickly returned fire landing a shot into the robber's shoulder, and another into her upper arm. While the robber reeled from the shots, Blake closed the distance between them and kicked her into a display case.

The last robber fired some shots at Coco, but they clanged harmlessly off of her bat just before she slammed it into the gun knocking it from his hands. Before the gun even hit the floor, the robber threw a kick into Coco's abdomen knocking her back, causing her to trip over the man she had knocked down just a couple seconds ago. The robber quickly pulled out his sidearm and fired three shots into Coco's chest. Believing he had taken care of Coco, he changed his focus to Blake, who quickly got behind the counter for cover.

He fired a couple more shots while he walked closer to the counter, making sure Blake would stay in cover. Before he could get too close, he received a hard brass-knuckled punch to the back of the head, knocking him out cold.

After he dropped Coco followed suit trying to catch her breath and calm down a bit. Blake on the other hand quickly dragged the robbers into the center of the shop, tied them together with a thick rope, and attached the photos she took earlier to it.

"Come on Coco, we need to get out of here," Blake told her while she extended her hand.

She took a couple more breaths, and accepted Blake's help to get back on her feet, "That… That was a thing…" Coco said as the two of them walked back to their motorcycles. After the first successful mission, the two of them drove back to the base and dropped off their equipment. Weiss had a look at Coco's chest making sure nothing was too damaged, in the end, she found nothing was broken, and the only marks were three dark bruises.

"So, is this something you want to do again?" Blake asked her.

"Honestly, I'd rather stay out of the way of gunfire, but I need the money," Coco replied.

"Well, we'll make sure you're well paid, though I wish you decided to sign on for a reason more than just money."

"It's a dangerous line of work, and I don't think Vel would be too happy with Swiss Coco." She replied before going into the elevator.

"So, Weiss are we sure about Coco being an operative?" Blake asked after Coco was gone.

"Well, she performed relatively well for her first night, I think she could be useful. But that's just from what I could see on the monitors."

"She needs training, especially with the grapple gun. Also, I think she could use some more combat training, I mean she survived today, but that was because the robber didn't go for a headshot."

"Well, we can get her that training. I will need to see when Ruby and Fox are going to be available though. So, you get the final say, should we take her on as an operative?"

Blake paused for a moment making sure to really think about the decision to put a friend into danger, "I think we should."

"Okay…" Weiss replied before rushing towards Blake and giving her a tight hug, "I was so worried about you. Those robbers had rifles…"

Blake gave her a squeeze before gently pushing her away so she could look her in the eye, "I had things under control. I've been doing this for a long time now."

"I know… I just get worried…" Weiss replied with a weak smile.

"Anyways, after the other operative gets back why don't I make you a nice dinner at the apartment?" Blake suggested.

"That really sounds nice."
