So sorry that the chapter is shorter than the others, fortunately, I do plan on keeping up this pace up uploads, and the next chapter will be a longer one. (Not as long as the third chapter though)

Coco once again got back to her apartment late, with Velvet asleep on the couch. She felt so bad that she had waited for her.

"Sorry Vel," she whispered before giving her a kiss on the forehead and gently carrying her to the bed. Coco crawled in with her, more than ready to get some sleep.

In the morning, Velvet was the first to wake up, she had barely seen Coco over the last two days, so she was happy that she would be able to spend the day with her. After deciding to let Coco sleep for a couple more hours, she decided to make some breakfast for them.

"Morning Vel…" Coco said groggily as she rolled out of bed, "Ooh what smells so good?"

"Morning Coco!" Velvet said cheerfully, "I got up before you, so I figured I'd cook up some bacon and eggs!"

"This is why I love you Vel," Coco told her while she walked over to the kitchen, got behind Velvet, and wrapped her arms around her.

"I'm so sorry about the last couple of nights, work's been really busy with the fall lineup." She said before giving her a gentle kiss on the neck.

"It's okay Coco, I understand," Velvet replied with a sad look on her face.

"Vel? Is everything okay?" She asked picking up on it immediately.

"Oh… uh… Yeah, everything's fine," Velvet replied with a half-hearted smile. In truth Velvet was upset, but not at Coco. She understood why Coco would want to stay later at work, especially if being at the apartment meant having to deal with her downer girlfriend. If Coco heard she was thinking like this she was sure that Coco would force herself to go to the apartment more often even if she didn't want to, so Velvet figured lying was the best course of action. These thoughts clouded her mind a lot ever since Yatsu died. Of course, none of these thoughts were true, but to Velvet they were.

"Velvet," Coco gently turned Velvet around, so they were facing each other, and she made sure to look right in her eyes, "Is everything okay?"

Velvet looked down at the ground for a moment before putting on her best smile, looking back up at Coco, and saying, "Yeah, everything is fine."

It was obvious to Coco that Velvet was lying, but she didn't want to push the matter further if Velvet wanted to talk about it she figured that she would've brought it up.

After a little while, Velvet finished making breakfast and brought it out to the dining room.

"So Vel, is there anything you'd like to do on my day off? I'm taking requests," Coco told her with a grin.

"No…"

"Nothing at all? I'll do whatever you want."

"Can we just watch some tv?" Velvet asked gingerly.

Coco was surprised by her answer, she figured it'd be something a little more fun, but a day of cuddling on the couch, and watching tv with Velvet did sound incredibly nice. "That sounds great," Coco told her with a warm smile.

With that, the two of them started their breakfast, though it was simple they both enjoyed it, half because of the food and half because they were eating it together. After they finished, Velvet got up to start doing the dishes, but Coco would not allow it.

"Vel, sit back down. You cooked, so I clean up," she said, smiling at her.

In response, Velvet simply did as she was told, "Thank you."

It didn't take too long for Coco to scoop up the dishes and bring them into the kitchen, "So Vel, what did you want to watch?" she asked while she started to fill up the sink.

"I don't really know…"

"Oh, so watching tv was just an excuse to cuddle?" Coco teased as she actually started washing the dishes.

"No… I just wanted to spend some time with you…"

"Vel… I really am sorry for being gone when you needed me over the last two days. I… I should've been more considerate." Coco told her while she looked down at the sink feeling incredibly guilty.

"Coco… It's okay…"

"Damnit Vel!" Coco exclaimed putting the dishes in the sink and heading back to the dining room, "Talk to me! Tell me what's wrong!"

Velvet was taken aback by her sudden outburst, "I-I already said nothing was wrong."

"Vel, why won't you tell me what's wrong? I just want to help…"

"I know, but… Everything's fine…"

Coco sighed and gave Velvet a tight hug, "Okay… just remember I love you," she said quietly into her ear.

"I love you too…"

Coco gave her a peck on the cheek and quickly lifted her out of her chair, "I'll do the dishes later."

She clung to Coco making sure she wouldn't fall, despite being picked up by her in a similar fashion many times before, she still was nervous about being dropped. Carefully, Coco walked her into the living room and dropped her onto the couch.

"It's tv time," Coco told her while she grabbed the remote and hopped over Velvet, laying behind her on the couch. She gently put her arms around her, pulled her in close, and turned on the tv. It currently was on the news, but after a couple clicks it was turned to a show that the two of them watched together, 'X-Ray and Vav' a live-action adaptation to the popular comic book series, and it was getting quite popular. The new season was coming out in a couple days, so there currently was a marathon of the first two seasons going on.

"Does X-ray and Vav sound good?"

Velvet quietly nodded and held Coco's hands tightly. They quietly watched the show, but the silence was comfortable, the two of them enjoying each other's company. That peaceful silence was broken only a couple hours in when Coco's phone buzzed.

"Damnit," Coco said under her breath.

Velvet sighed, "Just answer it."

Coco looked at her phone, "It's work, I'm really sorry…" she said while she answered the phone, "Hello?"

Weiss was on the other end of the call, "Sorry to call on your day off, but we need you to get through your training as soon as possible. Last night you were almost severely wounded."

"Can't I do it tomorrow? It's my day off."

"Sorry, but Ruby and Fox can only train you today, otherwise you won't be able to get your training until next month." Weiss explained, "And I will not let you go out without your training being completed."

"Goddamnit, you better pay me for coming in today."

"You will be paid, but not as much as you would for going out on patrol. It'll be about a third of the pay."

"Fine. I'll head over." Coco said frustrated that her day was interrupted.

"Will you be home tonight?" Velvet asked with a sigh.

"I don't know Vel… I'm really sorry about this…"

"It's fine… It's work…"

Coco gave her a kiss on the cheek and headed out. When she was out of the door Velvet grabbed one of the pillows and held it close to her chest, she was promised the whole day, but only hours into it Coco left. It just felt like Coco was drifting away, but it had only been a couple days, so she promised herself that it was just a temporary thing.
