He pushed Rubie away and closed his bubble. He took deap breaths. He watched as eyeball floated away.

He was safe, at least for now. He floated alone for what seemed forever. He was not scared of being alone. He did spend most of his childhood waiting for the gems to come back from missions. Steven looked at the time. He has been floating for three hours. His phone was fully charged, so he decided to play some games for some time. But he wasn't in the mood for games. He did record a couple of episodes of Crying Breakfast Friends. But Steven was not in the mood for cartoons. He was not hungry and even though he was very tired, he couldn't fall asleep.

Thoughts swirrled in his head, all negative. His stomach growled. Steven just ignored it. He had a couple of Connie's protoean bars in his back pocket. He floated for a while and then checked his phone. Another three hours went by.

Finally sleep and tiredness won and he drifted to sleep. Nothing in his dreams.

When he woke up, he checked the time. He had slept for 15 hours and still no gems?! Steven looked out of his bubble; he was still flying fast through space. Now he was exiting the solar system.

Where were they? Steven began to loose hope. Eating usually made him feel better, so he ate one of the three protein bars. It tasted so good and yet, he still felt alone and empty.

Steven did everything he could to entertain himself; playing games, funny photo filters. Nothing worked. Then finally he looked at photos. He and the gems having fun, him and Connie reading, all the good stuff. He began to sniffle and then started crying.

"Where are you guys?"
