It's Almost Time

I stood in front of the mirror, and sighed as I took in my reflection, "I'm fat."

"Okay," My husband answered, as he turned the page of his magazine.

I hurried to where he was sitting, and took the magazine from his hands, "So you think I'm fat"

"No," He leaned his head back against the cushion of the chair, and looked back at me, "I think you're sexy, but you won't believe me, no matter how many times I tell you."

I just tossed the magazine back at him, before going into the nursery, which we had just finished a couple weeks ago decorated in yellow, and green. The doctor hadn't been able to see the sex, since the baby always had there back to us, whenever the doctor tried to see. I picked up the stuff giraffe, which Tim had brought home, and smiled, "Hello Mr. Giraffe."

"Mom, and Angela, did a great job decorating, didn't they?" My husband asked, coming up behind me, and wrapping his arms around my waist. "So talking to the toys again?"

"Just practicing," I smiled as I leaned against his chest, as he started to rub my stomach.

He kissed the top of my head, "Want me to pick up something from the Dingo?"

"Chili Fries," I smiled as he lead me back into the living room, and helped to make me comfortable, before walking to get a shirt from the room. I was about to reach for the blanket on the back of the chair, when I suddenly felt a gush of liquid between my thighs. "TIM!"

My husband hurried back into the sitting room, and looked at me worriedly, "What's wrong?"

"I think we need to get to the hospital," I answered.

He had me in my car, and driving towards the hospital, within five minutes. He took a hold of my hand, and reminded me to breath, "It's going to be okay, baby."

"Shut up, Timothy," I groaned, trying to make myself comfortable.

He just continued to drive, and holding my hand.

Six Hours Later

I watched as the nurse cleaned my baby, before handing her over to me, "Can't believe she's here," I wiped the tears, that began to form.

The nurse smiled at me, as my husband wrapped an arm around my shoulders, "You did great mom, you two have a beautiful little girl."

Tim kissed the side of my head, as he stroked his daughters cheek, "I am so proud of you, Baby. I can't believe I have a daughter."

The nurse took a hold of the clipboard at the foot of my bed, and looked over at me, "What is her name going to be?"

"Natalie Joanne Shepard." I answered easily.

"Hello Natalie, Daddy loves you," Tim gently removed her from my hold, and headed out of the room, "I'm going to go show mom, and Angela." He ignored as the nurse tried to protest.

"He's excited," I smiled as I heard my mother in-law yelling at my husband, for taking her grandchild away from me, instead of just asking her to come to the room.

Angela was the first in the room, and quickly hurried to were I was laying, "Hey there Sam, my niece is so beautiful," she wrapped her arms around my shoulders, before going back to where my husband was holding her niece.

Jolene smiled, as she sat beside me on the bed, and kissed my forehead, "How are you feeling sweety?"

"I am exhausted," I admitted, trying to keep my eyes open.

"Get some sleep sweety," She kissed my forehead again, before walking over to her children, wrapping her arm around Angela, "Tim, make sure you let Sam get some sleep, while you watch your daughter." She lead her daughter out of the room, leaving me alone with my new family.

My husband handed the nurse the baby, and joined me on the bed, after the nurse took the baby to the nursery. He pulled me into his arms, and held me as I fell asleep, "Goodnight, Baby."

Three Months Later

"Here I go," I took a deep breath, as I stared at my high school, prepared to start my final year. "You could do this Sam, nothing has changed."

"How is Natalie?" Pony asked, as he came up beside me.

Who was I kidding, I just had a baby.

"You look good, Samantha," Bridgette complemented, as she came up beside me, giving Pony a small smile, "I have something for you, since I couldn't make it to your shower," she rolled her eyes, "My parents could be such pains."

I smiled at the Soc, who unexpectedly became one of my good friends, and helped me out during school. She started eating lunch with me, when I sat with Pony, and Johnny, along with her other friend, "You didn't have to Bri."

She loved her nickname, when I had first called her Bri, and since than all my friends had started acknowledging her by the nick, "It's just a little something," she removed a binder looking thing, and handed it over to me, "Thought you would be taking a lot of pictures, and need a place to put them."

I looked down at the book, and saw that she had decorated the front, with girly colors with Natalie Joanne Shepard across the front. I wrapped my arms around her, as Pony removed the album, "It's beautiful, thank you so much Bri."

Johnny, and Angela, walked towards us hand in hand, and both with equal smiles. He noticed pony with the pink album in his hands, and nudged him, "Nice binder you got there, Pony."

Pony quickly handed me back the album, and lightly smacked our friends stomach, "Bri, she gave it to Sam, for holding pictures."

Angela actually smiled at the Soc, as she took my new album, and admired the cover, "This is great, Bri. I can't wait to put the pictures of my niece in here, we have a lot already." she was now showing Johnny, as they started making there way inside the classroom, "I'll put it in my locker, since I have more room."

Pony, just wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and lead the way into the building, "So we're going to the Nightly, you want to come Bri?" He was staring down at his hand, with a light blush.

I was actually speechless, and so was Bri, but managed to recover and looked at her, "How is your fiancee?"

She rolled her eyes, "He eloped with some girl he knocked up," she looked almost relieved. She had told me that it annoyed her, that her father already had her husband planned, and wished there was a way out of the unofficial engagement. She smiled at Pony, "I would like that, Pony."

Pony actually looked surprised, as he looked back at our newest friend, "Really?"

The two of them continued on there way, as I turned into my classroom, obviously forgetting me as they talked. This should be real interesting...

I threw my bag on the floor by the door, as I hurried to where my mother in-law was holding Natalie, forgetting that Bri, and Angela, were behind me. "I missed you, baby."

My mother in-law laughed, as she walked to the door, that I somehow managed to lock as I entered, "Hello Ladies, Bridgette, how are you doing these days?"

"I'm doing good, Mrs, Shepard, and yourself?" The Soc asked, taking a seat on my couch, as Angela brought out cookies, which I had baked last night, "Mom, Bri, she gave Sam a photo album, decorated for Natalie." She set the plate in front of the Soc, before going to her own bag, and taking out the photo album, "I put the pictures I had in it already," she hurried to my room, and came back with the camera, that Jolene had bought for us when Nat was born, "Let Bridgette hold Nat."

I had just finished changing her diaper, when my sister in-law swept her niece up, and started towards our other friend. I leaned against my mother in-law, as we watched Angela place my daughter in Bri's arm, and set the album on the coffee table in front of the two. "How was Nat today, Mom?"

"She was a perfect little angel," My mother in-law answered, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, smiling as she watched her own daughter, "She is quieter than Angela was, boy can my girl throw a tantrum, when she wanted something. She had her brothers wrapped around her fingers."

"Nat, she has her dad wrapped around her finger already, which could be frustrating sometimes," I watched as Bri, and Angela cooed over my daughter, before looking back at my mother in-law, "He insist on picking her up anytime she cries, when I know she doesn't need anything."

Mom just smiled as she reached for her granddaughter, and handed her over to me after kissing her cheeks, "Has she started sleeping through the night?"

"She falls asleep around eleven, and wakes up at six, which is nice since I am already up making breakfast during the week, letting me spend time with her before school," I walked over to her play pen, and laid her down on the way to the kitchen, "Would you like to stay for dinner?"

"I actually have to work tonight dear, but maybe I will get some, when I pick up Angela later tonight. I am only working five hours tonight," Jolene explained, as she grabbed her purse, as she headed towards the door, "I will see you later girls, and nice seeing you again Bridgett."

I waved from the kitchen as I started preparing dinner, calling out towards the other girls, "Bri, would you care to stay for dinner, I am making tacos. Since you'll be going to the nightly with Pony tonight," I smiled at the thought of the two, and couldn't help but be happy for my friends. "You can call him, and invite the boys over for dinner, if you would like."

Angela was already in the kitchen, and taking the phone off the hook, before I finished the sentence, "Hey Pony, is Johnny at you're house?" she was leaning against the counter, wrapping the cord around her finger, "Johnny, why don't you and Pony come over to Sam's, she is making dinner before we go to the Nightly. Okay see you soon, love you." She hanged up the phone, and turned to Bri, who had joined us in the kitchen, and smiled, "They'll be here in five minutes."

I heard the screen door slam, and my daughter giggle, and sighed knowing who it was, "Hey Dally, you staying for dinner, or do you have a date."

"Tim asked me to babysit, while he takes you to the Nightly, so I will be hanging out with my number one girl tonight," He answered coming into the kitchen, holding his niece in his arms. He looked over at Bri, and than back at me, "Whose your friend?"

"That is Bri, she's going on a date with Pony, so she will be staying for dinner," I answered, smiling at my brother, as he tried to ungrip his nieces fist from his hair. "You may be an asshole sometimes brother, but Natalie sure does go crazy whenever you come, that's how I know it's you when you are here. She giggles for you, and Tim, and since my husband isn't due home for another thirty minutes, I knew it was you."

"Well I am the best uncle in the world, how many other uncles do you know, who will give up there Friday Night to watch there niece," He asked while sitting at the table, with his niece on his lap, "I am glad that I stayed around, otherwise this little girl would be stuck hearing bad stories about me, and I couldn't allow that to happen."

I wrapped my arms around my brother, and kissed his cheek, which still seemed to surprise him to this day, "I am glad you didn't go back to Texas, you have been helpful with her."

The screen door slammed again, and I could hear Johnny teasing Pony, as they entered the kitchen.

Pony walked over to Bri, and stood behind her chair, both of them blushing with a smile, "So how is everyone?"

Bri looked up at the youngest Curtis, and smiled at him, "I am doing good, called my mom from school, and told her I was spending the night at a girlfriends house. So I won't have to worry about going home, until tomorrow afternoon."

"Hey we get to have a slumber party," Angela exclaimed, as she wrapped her arms around her boyfriend, and allowed him to lead her out the back door, "Going for a walk, we'll be back in a few."

"Hey I am going to take Natalie for a stroll, is her stroller in the closet?" My brother asked standing to his own feet, he looked over at the other couple, "Want to go to the park with us?"

Pony looked down at Bri, who looked right back up at him, before taking her hand and helping her to her feet, "Sure, sounds like a plan."

I walked to the closet, and pulled out the stroller, and helped place my daughter inside, "Thank you for taking her to the park," I smiled as I watched the three of them head across the street to the park, just as my husband pulled into the driveway on his bike.

Glad we got a few minutes to ourselves.
