Much to the delight of the Gryffindor House, who's spent nearly the entire night celebrating, Gryffindor won the match against Ravenclaw, greatly increasing their chances of winning the Cup, something that hadn't happened since Charlie's second year.
Even Genevieve had joined the party for a good half hour as a study break. She sipped butterbeer and enjoyed a few Honeydukes sweets, even taking some back to Hermione, who was beside herself with stress from her classes.
That night, she'd been in the midst of another dream about Charlie when -
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Startled awake, she rushed into the common room to find a horde of other students looking equally alarmed.
"Everyone back upstairs!" Percy ordered as he attached his Head Boy badge to his pajamas. Genevieve would have laughed if she wasn't so worried.
"Perce - Sirius Black!" Ron claimed. "In our dormitory! With a knife! Woke me up!"
Everyone froze.
Shocked, Percy tried to dismiss Ron's declaration, though the younger brother persisted. McGonagall intervened grumpily.
"I am delighted that Gryffindor won the match, but this is getting ridiculous! Percy, I expected better of you!"
Percy tried to distance himself from the situation. "I certainly didn't authorize this, Professor! I was just telling them all to get back to bed! My brother Ron had a nightmare - "
"IT WASN'T A NIGHTMARE!" bellowed Ron. "PROFESSOR, I WOKE UP, AND SIRIUS BLACK WAS STANDING OVER ME, HOLDING A KNIFE!"
"Don't be ridiculous, Weasley, how could he possibly have gotten through the portrait hole?"
"Ask him!" Ron shouted, pointing to where Sir Cadogan, the rather annoying temporary replacement of the Fat Lady, hung.
"Sir Cadogan, did you just let a man enter Gryffindor Tower?" McGonagall questioned doubtfully.
"Certainly, good lady!"
Genevieve was floored. How could he be so clueless?
"You - you did?" Professor McGonagall was appalled. "But - but the password!"
"He had 'em!" Sir Cadogan said, as though he'd done nothing wrong. "Had the whole week's, my lady! Read 'em off a little piece of paper!"
Neville blanched. Genevieve knew he'd written down the passwords for the week, forgetful as he was, and had misplaced them, but this was serious.
McGonagall's rage was incomparable. Sir Cadogan was fired, and Neville was banned from Hogsmeade, given detention, and not allowed to know the passwords, having to wait for someone to let him in each night. Genevieve, pitying him, tried to make sure to be there when he arrived.
One thing bothered her, though. Black had now broken into Hogwarts twice, and both times he hadn't gone after Harry. He'd been there on Halloween, when there was an empty dormitory, and outside Ron's bed. So, if Harry wasn't his target, what did he want?
