Genevieve sat in McGonagall's office, surprisingly calm. The time for her career consultation had come, and she pondered over what she could possibly want to do with the rest of her life.

"Welcome, Miss Snow. As you know, this meeting is to discuss any career ideas you might have, and to help you decide which subjects you should continue into your sixth and seventh years." Professor McGonagall said briskly. She pressed on more gently. "Have you had any thought about what you would like to do after you leave Hogwarts?"

"Well," Genevieve began uncertainly. She decided to speak from her heart. "A long time ago, a close friend of mine resolved to help me overcome my fear of animals, especially Magical Creatures. And, with his help, this subject has become something that I am not only no longer apprehensive of, but also passionate about. So, I was thinking . . ."

McGonagall looked extremely interested in what she had to say.

"That, maybe, I could become a Magizoologist, with an interest in dragons. A Dragonologist, I believe?"

"Yes, well, the field of Magizoology does not require one to have graduated, but I would suggest Charms, Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and perhaps Potions. Study of Ancient Runes as well, if you want to be thorough. As you excel in all of these classes," McGonagall flashed her a small smile. "I see no reason why you cannot pursue a career in this field. In fact, I believe the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary would be ideal for what you are considering. Anything else?"

"Er - yes," Genevieve replied hesitantly. "I don't think I would want to go immediately after graduation. Actually, and I know this sounds completely barmy," McGonagall gave her a look that clearly stated nothing Genevieve could say would make her think she was crazy. "I was hoping I could stick around here for a while, as a sort of teacher's assistant, perhaps. I could tutor struggling students and even help whatever teacher needs it. Of course, if that is completely unnecessary and uncalled for, I understand - "

McGonagall cut her off, a strange sort of expression on her face, as though she was trying to hide her emotions. Genevieve didn't know if this was a bad or a good thing.

"Miss Snow, this is a highly unusual request."

"I know, and I understand. I shouldn't have asked -"

She was interrupted again. "And I will do everything I can to ensure you have a spot here at Hogwarts, should you choose to remain." McGonagall smiled again, and there was a proud sort of glimmer in her slightly wet eyes.

"Thank you, Professor." Genevieve was unable to keep from beaming.

"You are very welcome. This concludes our career consultation."

Genevieve made to leave.

"Oh, and Miss Snow?" She turned back, curious. "I expect no less than an Oustanding on your Transfiguration O.W.L."

"Yes, Professor." And with that, Genevieve left the room triumphantly.
