Chapter 26

Sean's/Percy's POV

I was in the hospital for three days now. Ugh I hate it here. I was constantly complaining to Mom and Charles that I am feeling better and that I can go home but to my dismay they won't let me. The doctor, named Will, who is a friend of my brother won't discharge me. The only good thing about it is that I got to see Annabeth and we are in good terms again. She visited me again yesterday after her work and we constantly texted each other.

I was so engrossed with my phone that I haven't noticed Charles who is peaking on my phone. "Is that Annabeth?" He asked grinning. "Would you mind?" I snarled. He just chuckled. "So what did she say?" "She's just checking in." I replied dryly and glared at him. He raises his hands in surrender.

"Anyway, I went to the station a while ago, the four bastards that hurt you already confessed." He informed me. "Really, that easy?" I asked. He just nodded. "It turns out that they were already on the lists of the most wanted. We just have to be there during the hearing." I let out a deep sigh. "At least we don't have to worry about it anymore. How's mom dealing with everything? "

"She's fine. She's just a little upset about finding out the truth but she's fine." He replied. "Anyways I have good news for you." I looked at him. "What?" "I talked to Will and he said you can go home this afternoon." He said grinning. "Finally!" I muttered. "Gods I thought I am never getting out of here." Charles just rolled his eyes on me.

My phone vibrated and I looked it up. It was a text from Annabeth. I told her the good news and she was happy about it. Although she said that she can't come to see me. I texted her back saying that it was okay. "Can you be more obvious?" Charles teased. I just glared at him.

Finally it is time to go home. After Charles helped me to get changed, a nurse came in with a wheelchair. I looked at Charles confusedly and he smirked at me. "What is that for?" I asked. "For you." He teased. "What? Are you kidding?" I exclaimed. "No sir, it is for your own good and precaution. You're not that strong enough. So I suggest you better take things seriously." Dr. Will said who suddenly appear out of nowhere.

I saw them fist bump. Charles raised his eyebrow at me and I know better not to argue. So even it was against my will I sat on the wheelchair. But honestly Dr. Will is right. I'm not that strong enough. "So be back by Saturday for your follow up check up and to take off your cast." He said. "Okay." I just simply said. "Thanks again Will." Charles said. "Just doing my job, take care Sean and stay out of trouble." He teased and walks away.

"Hey!" Someone called and it was the nurse who tried to flirt with me, I think her name was Suzanne. "Hey!" I replied back. "So you are finally going home huh?" She asked. "Yeah finally." I said and smiled. She leaned down and kissed me on the cheek. She put something on the left pocket of my shirt. "Call me." She said and walks away. I was too stunned to react. "Wow!" Charles commented which startled me. "What did just happen?" I asked. Charles just laughs and pushes the wheelchair.

On our way home my phone vibrated, it was a text from Annabeth, she was just checking in. I told her that we are on our way home. "So are you finally going to tell her?" Charles asked. "What?" I asked confusedly. "To Annabeth? I guess you didn't have the time to tell her last time." He reminded me. I let out a deep sigh. "I don't know. After everything that happened, maybe it wasn't meant to be."

"Are you serious?" He asked. "Look what happened when I tried telling her." I tried to reason out. "God you're hopeless." He exasperated. "Are we going to go through it all again? Sean what happened has nothing to do with you admitting your feelings to her. It was just a coincidence."

"Maybe, I don't really know." I replied dryly. "Was that the effect of getting hit by the head?" He teased. "Hey!" I complained. "You know for someone like you, you can be an idiot sometimes. Can you not sense it?" He asked incredulously. "Sense what?" I asked annoyed. "That she likes you too."

"Stop making my hopes up Charles." I stated. Charles let out a deep sigh. "You're hopeless indeed." I eyed him curiously. "She's already with someone else. What do you want me to do? Just spill it out to her?"

"Why not?" He asked. "Because I respect their relationship." I said firmly. He stop the car and I noticed we were already home. "What if I tell you that they are not really together?" He whispered. I only catch bits of what he said. "What did you just said?" I asked but he was already out of the car. I waited for him until he opened my door and help me to get out of the car.

"What were you saying?" I asked again. "Nothing." He said dryly. "It doesn't sound like it is nothing." I demanded. He doesn't reply. I turn to look at the house and it was dark. "I thought mom was home?" I asked him. But instead of answering me he opens the door and guides me inside. He turns the lights on.

"Happy Birthday!" They all exclaimed. I was too shocked to react. I looked at them one by one and I was too speechless. Charles was grinning beside me. All of my friends are here. Mom was the first one to come up to me and hug me. "Welcome back son and happy birthday." She said and kissed me on the cheek.

"I.. How? What day is it?" I stammered. "Oh my God don't tell me you forgot your own birthday?" Thalia asked. I was still processing what just happened when Annabeth came up to me. "Happy Birthday!" She said and kisses me on the cheek. I was too stunned to react. I just stared at her. But the others came up to me and greeted me.

"I don't know what to say." I said after they all done greeting me. "How about thanks." Connor smirked. Katie smacked him on the head. He just scowled at her. I cleared my throat. "Um I guess I should thank you for making this possible. Well you definitely surprised me. I admit I really forgot that it's my birthday to day. Well these past few days have been tough and I want to thank you for being there for me."

"Thank your brother. It was his idea." Silena informed. I look at my side to where Charles is. I smiled at him and gave him a hug. "Awww that was so sweet." Leo commented. Clarisse punched him in the arm. "What the hell Clarisse!" He cursed. "Language Leo!" Mom scolded. "Sorry." He apologized.

"Come on guys the food is waiting." Mom invited. They hurriedly went to the table to dig in the food. I just chuckled at them. "Looks like someone is hungry." I commented. Charles and Annabeth guided me to the table. I shook my head. I gestured them to the couch. "Don't you like to eat?" Annabeth asked. "Later." I said. She looked at me questioningly. "Later I promised. I just need to rest from the travel." I explained.

"You are feeling alright?" Charles asked. I nodded. Once I was seated I rested my head. "Go and eat." I said to them. Mom sat next to me. "Are you alright son?" she asked. "Yes mom, just need to rest a bit but I'm fine. No need to worry okay. Go and eat."

They all looked at me questioningly. I rolled my eyes. "Trust me I'm fine. Jeez give me a break will you." I teased. "Are you not hungry?" Charles asked. I shook my head. Annabeth eyed me curiously. "I'll eat later okay because I have to drink my meds." I smirked.

"Go on. It's not like I'm going anywhere." I said. "Okay then I'll go eat because I'm starving." Charles said and head towards the others. "You sure you're okay?" Mom asked again. "Mom." I complained. She just laughs at me. "Just tell me if you need anything, okay?" I just nodded. Mom grabs Annabeth's hand before she can even protest. I just chuckled when I look at Annabeth's reaction. She just glared at me but she let my mom drag her.

I've been flicking the remote of the TV and found nothing interesting. The others left me to take a rest. I slowly stand up. I am having a difficulty to stand up since my left hand is still on cast but I managed to do it. I turned the lights outside and slowly I step outside. I closed my eyes feeling the breeze. I let out a deep sigh.

I groaned when I realized I have forgotten my own birthday. I really am stupid I scolded myself. I look up and see the stars. I thought of Mom, Dad and Kelsi. I closed my eyes. I needed to be strong. Oh gods how I miss them so much. I remembered when we celebrated my last birthday, we were on the beach. My thoughts were interrupted when someone spoke behind me.

"A penny for your thoughts." She said. I looked over my shoulder and saw Annabeth. "I thought you said you needed to rest?" I smiled at her. "I tried to but I can't." "You shouldn't move a lot you know that. Don't push yourself. You haven't fully recovered." She scolded. I just grinned at her.

She rolled her eyes on me. "Will you please stop doing that?" She demanded. I scrunched my eyebrows. "What?" I asked. "I am not doing anything." "Never mind." She replied and crossed her arms over her chest. "You better get back inside mister before you hurt yourself."

I stared at her. Oh gods she's so beautiful even when she's so serious. I studied her. Her hair, her eyes, her lips… I could go on forever admiring her but she cut me off. "What?" She asked. "Huh?" I replied dumbly. "Is there something wrong with me?" She asked. I shook my head and blushed. I felt like a teenager. I am not supposed to feel embarrassed. For Hades sake I'm Perseus Jackson. Where did all my confidence go?

She walk towards me and gestured me to go back inside. Before I can even lose my courage, I stop from walking and turn towards her. "I need to tell you something." I said. She turned to look at me. "What about?" She asked. I grab her hand. I let out a deep sigh before starting.

"Remember the night when I was about to tell you something?" I asked. She nodded. "Well… It's about…Umm.." I stammered. She rolled her eyes on me. "What is it?" She asked with a small grin in her face. "Umm.." I scratch the back of my head. I can't seem to get the words out of my mouth. I felt like my tongue has been tied up.

Annabeth tap her foot impatiently. I let out a deep sigh. "Thank you for being a good friend to me." I mentally slap my face. What the hell did I just say? I saw her expression turned into disappointment. "Is that all you've got to say?" She asked a bit annoyed. I slowly nodded. Oh gods I'm such a loser.

She let go of my hand and started to walk away without even waiting for me. I know I needed to do something before I ruin it all over again. I immediately run after her not minding the sharp pain. I grab her hand. She was startled for a second before facing me once again. Her eyes narrowed on me. Before she can even ask me, I reach for her face and kissed her.

Once I tasted her lips I was instantly lost. All I can think about her lips tasted so sweet. Before I knew it she was kissing me back. I felt her hands went on the back of my head pulling me closer. I deepened the kiss by placing my hand on her waist. It was amazing. Nothing matters to us. Eventually we needed to pull back for air.

I rested my forehead on hers. "What was that all about?" She asked with her eyes closed. I lifted her chin so that I can see her beautiful face. She opened her eyes. "I've been meaning to do that for god knows how long." I confessed. "I like you Annabeth. I was just so stupid not to admit it to you. "

Her eyes soften. "I really like you. Like a lot. Hope you feel the same way too." I said. She smiled at me and closed the gap between us. This time our kiss is more intense. It's like we poured all our emotions into it. I've missed her so much that I don't want to let her go. We could have stayed like that forever when someone cleared their throat. We broke apart and saw Clarisse grinning at us.

"Finally!" She exclaimed. "Gods Sean, what took you so long?" She teased. I turned to look back at Annabeth. She smiled at me. I can't help myself but to kiss her once again.

"So finally it all paid off." Chris said. I instantly turned to look at them, I was about to explain myself when I noticed Chris hugging Clarisse from behind. "What?" I asked. "What is going on?" I asked confusedly. "Why are you hugging Clarisse?"

"Because she's my girlfriend." Chris said sarcastically. "What? What exactly is going on? Are you guys playing games on me?" I asked a bit annoyed. The three of them laugh at me. "What's so funny?" I snarled. Annabeth took my hand. "We needed to tell you something." She said. I urge her to continue. "Chris and I never really dated."

"What?" I asked a bit confused. "We never really dated. Clarisse is my real girlfriend." Chris explained. I turned to look at them. "Then why did you guys pretended to be a couple?" Clarisse looked at with disbelief in her face. "Really Sean?"

That is when I realized everything. I groaned and face palm my face. "Oh gods." I muttered. "I've been so stupid. Why haven't I seen it?" I asked myself. "Because you're such a Seaweed Brain sometimes." Annabeth commented. I looked at her. "Seaweed Brain?" She just chuckled.

"I hate to break your little bubble but they want the birthday boy inside. It's time for the cake." Clarisse said. "Cake?" I raised my eyebrow. Annabeth chuckled and guided me back inside. Before we step inside I sneak another kiss from her. She glared at me playfully and smacked me in the arm. I winced from the pain. She realized what she has done and apologized and gave me a peck on the lips.

"What took you so long?" Leo asked. Clarisse and Chris just laugh. Annabeth guide me to where the cake is. They all sang Happy Birthday. They urge me to make a wish and blow the candle. I just chuckled but gave in. I closed my eyes and blow the candles.

"So what was your wish?" Connor asked. "He's not supposed to tell you stupid." Thalia scolded. Connor just pouted. "Where's the fun in that?" All the others groaned on Connor antics. "I didn't need to make a wish." I said and smiled at them. "What do you mean?" Charles asked. I looked at Annabeth and take her hand and intertwined them with mine.

All of them gasped, well except for Chris and Clarisse who were grinning like idiot. Silena suddenly squealed and run towards Annabeth and hug her. "Oh my gods Annabeth! I am so happy for you." Annabeth just rolled her eyes at her. "Gods Silena, please stop." Silena just pouted. She turned to me and before I can even stop her she crushed me with her hug. I winced in pain. "Oh god." I groaned.

Charles and Annabeth pulled Silena away from me. "Are you trying to kill my boyfriend?" Annabeth scolded. "Wow I like the sound of that." I commented in between pain. Annabeth blushed a deep red. "You alright?" Mom asked. I just nodded. She smiled at me and hugs me. "Finally, I'm so happy for you." Then she turned to Annabeth and hugs her also. "Forgive my son for being so slow." She chuckled. "Mom." I grumbled but she just laughs at me.

Thalia hug Annabeth and then she turned to me. "You hurt her and I will personally hunt you down." She threatened. "Wow!" I just exclaimed. Annabeth hug me. Thalia smirked t me. "Well I am just happy that she is happy. So you better take care of her." I simply nodded and kissed Annabeth's forehead. The others take turns in congratulating us.

For the rest of the night, we just stayed outside in the veranda, chatting, eating and drinking. It was bliss. Annabeth is beside me all the time. I never let her go out of my sight. When it was getting late they decided to go home since they still have to go to work tomorrow.

"You better go inside and rest." Annabeth said to me. "I'll do that as soon as you go home." I replied. She narrowed her eyes on me. "I would like to be a real gentleman and walk my girlfriend to her car." I simply said. She smiled at me. "Cheesy." She teased. I smiled back and kissed her on the cheek.

"Okay lovebirds, time to go home Annabeth." Thalia called. Annabeth slowly guided me into Thalia's car. I waved goodbye to the others and thanked them. I was about to reach for her door when she stopped me. "What?" I asked. "I can definitely opened my own door Sean." She scolded. "But.." I was cut by her. "I know you just wanted to be a real gentleman but for gods sake Sean you're hurt. Don't try to push it okay. You're lucky I even let you walk me into the car." She grumbled.

"Fine." I surrendered. "Call me when you got home, okay?" I said. She smiled and kissed me on the lips. "Thanks for coming guys." I waved to Thalia and Silena. "Go inside." Ananbeth demanded. I just rolled my eyes on her.

When they were gone Charles guided me back to the house. "Thank You Charles." I said. He just grinned at me.

Those who guessed that Charles will tell them about Percy/Sean, I hate to disappoint you guys but that was not the case. In due time they will learn the truth about him, but not yet this time. =)
