Chapter 38

"Okay, now let's talk." Nico demanded as they set foot outside the bar. Charles suddenly appeared behind them. "Get in the car." Charles ordered. Nico look confused. He turned to Percy for answer. "Please just get in the car Nico. I'll explain everything later."

Nico has no choice but to get in the backseat of the car. Charles started to drive away. No one is talking. Percy is looking outside the window deep in his thoughts. Charles glances at him several times while he is driving.

"Where exactly are we going?" Nico asked. "In our house." Charles answered as he glance Nico on the mirror. "And why are we going there?" Nico asked confusedly. "I live there." Percy butted in. "I take it you knew about him?" Nico directed to Charles. Charles nodded. "And the others don't?" Charles and Percy didn't answer. "I'll take it as a yes." Nico mumbled. He leaned back on the seat and waited until they reach their destination.

It was not long enough when they finally arrived. They went inside the house and they were met by Hestia. "You guys are early." Then she noticed Nico. "And who is this fine young man with you?" She asked. "Mom this is Nico, my cousin." Percy replied hesitantly. "Do you remember him?"

Hestia was taken aback. She put her hand in her mouth. This couldn't be happening.

"Mom, Charles can you give us a minute." Percy requested. Charles put a hand on her mother and guided them to the kitchen but before he turned his back, he takes a good one look at Nico as if saying I'm watching you.

When they were out of sight, Nico turned to Percy. "Mom?" He asked confused. "It's a long story." Percy replied. "Oh don't worry I've got all night to listen." Nico said sarcastically. "I don't know exactly where to start." Percy said frustrated. "I wasn't expecting this to happen."

"Yeah I can definitely see that." Nico said mockingly. "What the hell were you thinking? What you did was irresponsible and selfish! Gods Percy you've been gone for months with no idea where we can find you!"

Tears were streaming down on Percy's face. "I'm so sorry." He said as he tried to wipe the tears away.

"You have no idea what we've been through Percy. We've been searching for you for God knows how long and we always ended up with nothing." Nico stated. He slowly sits on the couch feeling defeated. "Kelsi blamed herself when she found out. It was so hard for her."

"Kelsi." Percy stated absentmindedly. "How is she? What about mom?"

"They are far from being okay. You need to come home Percy. Stop hiding. They deserve to know where you are. Please stop hurting them." Nico pleaded.

"I… I'm sorry. It's just that it was too much for me and I needed to run. I was so lost. I needed to figure things out on my own." Percy tried hard to explain. "I didn't mean to hurt them especially Kelsi. I can't stand seeing her in the hospital knowing that I was the one to blame."

"Percy, it was an accident. Don't blame it to yourself."

"No, it was my fault. I could have prevented it. Dad.. Dad blamed me. He won't even talk to me."

Percy buried his face in his hands trying to control his tears. Nico moved to his side. He placed his hand on Percy's back trying to calm him.

"If I have just listened to him in the first place, things should be different." Percy stated frustratingly.

"You can't change what is in the past Perce. It's not too late to set things right. You got to come home. They've been waiting for you, even your dad."

Percy slowly turned to look at Nico. Nico offered him a half smile. "He loves you Percy. He even hired an investigator to find you."

"He.. He did?" He stammered. Nico nodded.

Silence enveloped the two cousins. Nico is the first one to break it. "Tell me about them." He said pertaining to Charles and Hestia. Percy started on how they met and to why did they adopted him as their own.

"Wow. You're very lucky to meet them. Now I can understand how he is so protective of you." Nico said pertaining to Charles. "I guess we owe them for taking care of you huh?" Percy nodded. "Yeah I owe them my life."

"And back at the bar. Who are those people? And the girl?"

Percy suddenly felt like there's a lump on his throat. Nico chuckled. "Let me guess he is your girlfriend and she doesn't know who you are?"

Percy bowed his head not wanting to meet Nico's eyes. "Gods Percy, haven't you learned your lesson with Calypso?"

"I did try to stay away from her but I just can't. I love her Nico."

Nico shook his head. "You did say that when you were dating Calypso."

"It's different with Annabeth!" He replied abruptly.

Nico laughed mockingly. "And how is that different?"

"I just know. I love her so much and I don't want to lose her."

"Then tell me why haven't you told her the truth about you yet?"

Percy kept quiet not knowing to answer his cousin. "If you really love her, tell her the truth. Actually you should tell them the truth. They deserve to know. You should already know that."

Percy shook his head. "I don't know how." He said weakly.

"Of course you do. Just be honest to them. She deserves the truth. They all deserve it. Stop hiding Percy. We've been through this before and it didn't end well."

"That's what I am afraid of. What if she will hate me? What if they won't accept me? "

"You just got to try."

Percy rubs his face in his hands. "I actually wanted to tell her. I just can't find the right time." He admitted.

"There's no right time Perce. If you truly love her just tell her. Let's just hope she'll understand."

Percy groaned. "Gods I am so much in trouble."

Nico patted his back. "Do they know that you found me?" Percy suddenly asked. Nico shook his head. "No. It's just me, Allie, my secretary and her sister."

Percy looks at him confusedly. Instead of answering his question he showed him the picture and explained to him on how they found out. Percy was taken aback.

"Small world huh?" Nico stated. Percy just nodded. "I just can't believe it."

"Percy, you need to come home. I know it will be hard for you to leave them but this isn't where you belong. Your family is waiting for you."

"I..I don't know." He stammered. "I don't think I can."

"Yes you can. And it is the right thing to do. Tell them and let's see from there."

"How about Annabeth? I just can't leave her." Percy said miserably.

"Tell her." Nico demanded. "What if she won't forgive me? I love her so much Nico."

"Let's just hope she'll understand." Nico reassured him.

Percy kept quiet for a while. "Give me one week." He then said.

"What?" Nico asked. "Give me one week to tell them and then I'll come home." Percy suggested. "You can go home and I'll promise I'll follow after I tell them the truth."

Nico shook his head. "No, I'm staying. I won't come back to New York unless you are with me." He pointed out.

"I promise I will come home." Percy insisted. Nico shook his head. "That's my decision Percy."

"How about your work?" Percy asked. "I got it covered. Allie can take care of it while I'm gone."

Percy let out a deep sigh. "Okay."

"Sorry about hitting you." Nico then apologized. Percy smiled at him. "It's okay I deserve it."

Percy was just glad on how things easily went back to normal for both of them. Nico was his brother that he never had, but of course there's also Charles.

"I'm sorry. I know it was been hard for you too. I know what I did cause a lot of trouble and I'm willing to take responsibility of it once I get back."

"You have no idea. My father wanted to kill both of us." Nico chuckled.

Percy paled upon hearing it. He knows how scary Hades is when he was mad.

"Don't worry about it. We'll handle it once we get back." Nico said reassuringly.

"Please don't tell them yet that you found me." Percy requested.

Nico thinks for a moment. "Okay."

"So what's up with you and Thalia? How did you meet her?" Percy then asked curiously.

Nico blushed from hearing her name. Percy noticed it and raised his eyebrow at his cousin. "I met her at the airport." He stated.

"Oh really?" Percy said suppressing a smile. "Oh shut it." Nico snarled.

"So how did you two meet?" Percy asked not wanting to drop the matter. He missed teasing Nico.

Nico grudgingly tell Percy on how they met. Percy grinned at him. "Wow, I can't believe you have the balls to ask her. Wow just wow. I am proud of you. Thalia huh."

Nico punched him in the arm. "That's not funny you know." He complained.

Percy smiled at him. He put his arms around his shoulder. "I'm just teasing you. I've missed you, you know."

Nico smiled. "Yeah me too."

Both were startled when Percy's phone started ringing. He grabs it from his pocket and saw that it was Annabeth who's calling him. He excused himself and went outside.

"Hey." He answered.

"Where are you? Are you okay?" Annabeth demanded.

He can't help but smile. "Yeah I'm fine Wise Girl. We are at home now. How about you? Are you still at the bar?"

"No where home now too. Leo took us home."

"Good." He said.

"Is everything okay? Is he really your cousin? How come you never told me about him? And why did he hit you?" Annabeth fired questions at him.

Percy let out a deep sigh. This is what he is afraid of. "I'll tell you everything when I see you."

"Why not now?" She asked. He can feel her annoyance in her tone. He knows she hated not knowing things but he just can't tell her right away.

"I'm sorry Wise Girl but I promise I'll tell you. It's already late you need to sleep you still have work tomorrow." He suggested.

"Fine." She grumbled. "Hey it was sweet of you to do that to Travis and Katie."

He smiled even though she can't see him. "Just trying to help."

"Okay then. I'm going to bed. And go to sleep too. Did you put some ice on your bruise?" She asked.

"Oh yeah I will later. Don't worry about it. It's just one punch." He said trying to lighten the mood.

"Seaweed Brain." She muttered. He can feel her rolling her eyes.

"Go to sleep baby. I'll see you soon okay."

"Okay."

"Annabeth?" He called.

"Yes?"

"Good night. I love you."

"I love you too. Good night."

He ended the call. He stared at the sea even though it's so dark he can barely see the water. He let out a deep sigh and walks back inside. He saw his mom offered a cup of coffee to Nico.

"You want some coffee?" Hestia asked upon seeing him. He nodded. She went back to the kitchen. Charles handed him an ice pack. He smiled at him and said his thanks. He put the ice on his jaw and sits beside Charles. Nico smiled at him apologetically. He dismissed it.

"So how long are you staying?" Charles asked Nico. "A week or so, it depends on Percy." He replied.

Charles looked at Percy confusedly. "I'm going back home Charles." Just in time Hestia walks in. "What?"

"I'm sorry Mom but I need to go back home." He said frustratingly. "I'm going to tell the others about me and then I'm going back home."

Hestia places the cup in the table and sits besides Percy. She half smiled at him. She hugs Percy and he hugs her back. "I know this time will come. As much as I like you to stay with us but I know it won't be right. You have a family to come home to."

She felt Percy crying at her shoulder. "Thank you for everything." He mumbled. Hestia pulled away from him. She smiled at him and wiped the tears in his face.

"When are you planning to tell them?" Charles asked. "I don't know yet. I'll them as soon as I can. I just hope that they will not hate me especially Annabeth." He said sadly.

Charles patted his back. "Whatever decisions you have and whatever happens we will be right by your side."

Percy smiled at his brother. "It may not end so well but I needed to do this." He said trying to convince himself.

"Whatever happen son, we will be here for you." Hestia offered.

Percy smiled at them. He just hopes everything will turn out to be just fine or not.

What do you think about this chapter guys? I am not quite happy about it, you see I'm going through a painful stage right now and it is affecting my writing. I'm broken hearted. Yeah it sucks but that's life anyways. I don't want you to feel sorry for me. I'm fine really.

It will be nice if you tell me what you think of this chapter. Do I need to rewrite it? Just let me know okay.
