Chapter 46

Percy is currently on their music room back in their house. They built this room years ago when his dad finally embraced his career choice. He's in front of a piano getting lost by playing a song that he wrote months ago. He's so lost in it that he didn't noticed that his family is watching him with their smiles on their faces. He still hasn't lost his touch despite the fact that he didn't play in almost a year.

Once he finished playing the song he closed his eyes and reminisce all the memories behind that song. He bowed his head as a pang of hurt engulfed him. He was startled when he heard clapping of hands. He turned to see his whole family watching him.

"How long have you guys been here?" He asked.

"A couple of minutes ago." Poseidon replied. "That's a beautiful song. Is it new?"

"I don't think I heard it before." Kelsi added while they approached him.

"Yeah it is." He replied shyly.

Sally kissed his cheek and ruffled his hair. "You're still good." She praised him.

"Thanks mom. I actually missed doing this. I haven't had a chance when I was in Greece. And it felt good to actually play again."

His family smiled at him.

Kelsi grabbed the copy of the song and read it. "A love song." She commented. "Wow this is a beautiful song Percy. Can you sing it for us?" She requested.

"I..umm" Percy hesitated. "Maybe some other time."

"Why not now? Come on so that mom and dad can hear it too." Kelsi demanded.

Percy rubs the back of his head. Sally can feel Percy's hesitation. She wonders why? Maybe the song has a deep connection with him that he still not comfortable enough to share.

"Come on Kelsi let's go and prepare dinner. Percy can sing the song for us some other time." She smiled at Percy and he smiled at her silently thanking her.

Kelsi pouted but followed her mom anyways. When they were out of the room, Poseidon turned to his son.

"So how did it go? Did Hades give you a hard time?" Poseidon asked.

"Not really. At first he yelled at me but that was expected of course." He smiled. "It's not Uncle Hades when he doesn't yell at you. But then at the end he said that he was glad that I'm back."

Poseidon chuckled. "Yeah it does sounds like him. You know him inside he's a little softy when it comes to family not like your Uncle Zeus."

"Yeah definitely not." Percy smiled.

"So how about your career? What did he say about it?"

"About that.." Percy paused. "They're giving me another chance Dad."

Percy glanced at his father. Poseidon just nodded his head as if he is expecting that. "I thought so."

"What can you say about it?" Percy asked his opinion.

Poseidon turned to his son. "I think it is okay."

Percy scrunched his eyebrows. "Why? You are suppose to tell me that it isn't a good idea based from what happened it the past."

Poseidon laughs. "Son it happened in the past besides that comes with your career. A little drama won't hurt I guess just not too much. Besides you love singing, right?"

"I do." Percy replied curtly. "But I don't think it is a good idea anymore."

"Why not?"

"While I'm in Greece, I experienced to be normal again and I've kind of missed it. Not caring about what you're doing in public. No looking at your shoulders to be sure that the paparazzi is not following you. I guess I just kind of miss it."

Poseidon sits beside his son in front of the piano. "I get what you mean. But it doesn't mean that the moment you quit the paparazzi will leave you alone especially now that they know that you are my son."

"I thought of that too but it will be bearable I guess once I step out of the limelight. Can I ask you something?"

"What is it?" Poseidon asked.

"How come you're cool with it if I decided to go back?"

"Because I'm going to support your decision, I just want to support you for whatever decision that you make as long as your happy about it. So my question is what do you want?"

Percy thought for a moment. "Honestly I still don't know. I am not sure if I wanted to go back and I'm thinking about joining our company, I can work and study at the same time. I think it's time for me to learn what goes around our business."

"Are you sure about that?"

Percy didn't reply. Poseidon chuckled. "Listen son, I know you promised that you're going to be working at our company but we agreed that it will happen when you are sure that you are ready."

"I know." Percy cut him off. "But you've already let me do what I want and it didn't end well."

"It didn't end well because it started wrong, you kept your identity. Just think about it. I'm not rushing you. You're 22 and still young. I'm not planning on retiring any time soon. How long did they give you to think about it?"

"A week. Nico and I are flying to LA next week."

"Okay, you still have a couple of days so just think about it. Do what makes you happy and we will support you."

"Thank you so much dad, it means a lot to me." Percy smiled.

"Hey that's what I'm here for. Now come on let's go get something to eat." Poseidon clapped his back and together they went out of the room.

"Get your lazy butt out of bed!" Kelsi hit him another pillow.

"What do you want? It's too early! Get out of my room!" Percy yelled.

"News flash Popstar, it's already 11 in the morning so better get up!"

"You did not just call me that!" Percy spat. He grabs one of his pillows and throws hard on Kelsi.

"Ouch! Damn it Percy!"

"Language!" Percy scolded sitting up. "What do you want?"

"Come on get up. Let's go eat." Kelsi declared.

Percy groaned. "I'll eat when I wanted to."

"Oh come on Perce." Kelsi did the puppy dog eyes. "Mom and Dad are out early and I don't want to eat alone."

"Urgh stop doing that." He scolded. Kelsi knows that whenever she did that Percy can't say no to her. Silently Kelsi is celebrating when Percy lazily get up from his bed."

"Get out and I'll change. I'll meet you downstairs."

"Okay." Kelsi smiled.

Percy rolled his eyes and went to go change.

"Where did mom go?" Percy asked while they are eating.

"She said she has a meeting to attend to." Kelsi explained.

Percy nodded his head and continued to eat his cereal.

"Oh by the way, we are going out later." Kelsi declared.

"Where?"

"To the mall."

"What?" Percy asked. "Are you serious?"

"Of course I am."

"Go ask your friends because I am not going with you." Percy declared.

"Oh come on. You need to come with me." Kelsi insisted.

"Why?" Percy asked irritated. "Do you know what you are asking me?"

"Of course I know. I will not ask you if it is not important anyway." Kelsi pouted.

"Why? What so important that I have to accompany you to the freaking mall?"

"Because Mom's birthday is next week and we still haven't got a gift for her and I want you to help me look for something."

Percy pursed his lips. He almost forgot about that. When he didn't say anything Kelsi took the moment to emotionally black mail him.

"Besides it's been a while since we went out with just the two of us. I miss hanging out with you."

"It's too risky Kelsi. They didn't know that I'm back and going out to the mall is not safe."

Kelsi keep quiet for a while. She let out a deep sigh. "Okay maybe you're right. It's too risky. I'll just ask one of my friends."

Percy mentally debated with himself. He didn't like making Kelsi sad. "Fine, I'm going with you. I'm just going to keep it low so that they won't notice me."

Kelsi squealed and jump from her chair to hug and kiss her brother. "You're really are the best brother in the world."

"Stop no need for flattery." Percy chuckled.

Kelsi crossed her arms. "What? It's the truth. And don't worry someone is going with us."

"Who?"

"My bodyguard." Kelsi chuckled. "I am going to get ready." With that she went out of the kitchen.

"Bodyguard?" Percy called after her. "Since when did you have one?"

Kesli didn't answer. Percy finished his food and went back to his room to get changed. An hour later, Percy is waiting Kelsi in the living room when someone arrived.

"Percy?"

Percy raised his chin to look at who called him. "Eric?"

"Oh my God Percy it is really you!" Eric went to hug him. "It's good to see you."

"Hey man! Good to see you too. What are you doing here?"

"He's my bodyguard." Kelsi declared while descending from the stairs.

"Bodyguard?" And since when did you need a bodyguard?" Percy asked confused.

"Okay I'll explain." Kelsi chuckled. "But first I need to know how do you know each other?"

"Eric here is a good friend of mine." Percy explained. "How did you end up being her bodyguard?"

"How come you didn't tell me you are friends with my brother?" She asked Eric.

"I thought you knew? Nico didn't tell you?" Eric replied. Kelsi shook her head.

"Anyways, since the day I went back to school after the accident the paparazzi and your fans won't leave me alone. They were following me wherever I go and it got to a point that it got kind of scary that's why dad and mom decided to get me one."

"Nico offered me the job. He went to the bar and explained it to me. They wanted someone who can they trust with Kelsi's life and Nico thought I was up for the job." Eric butted in. "And I accepted it. I've been her body guard for months now."

"I'm glad you are looking out for my sister. But how come I only see you now? Aren't you supposed to be with her when she goes to school?"

"I've taken off for a couple of days of for the wedding." Eric smiled.

"Oh crap you're married? Congratulations man. I believe it is with Sarah?" Percy asked.

"Yeah." Eric answered. "I didn't give her a chance to find somebody new." He chuckled.

"Congratulations man." Percy shook his hand. "I wish I was there to attend the wedding."

"It's okay man. We're just glad you're back, Sarah will be thrilled to know that you came back."

"Okay you two continue your chit chat on the car because we need to go." Kelsi stated.

"Are we using my car?" Percy asked.

"Nope." Eric replied. "I don't think it is a good idea. It will attract attention and we don't want that."

Percy pouted. "Fine."

The four of them, including their driver went to the mall. Percy wore just a simple plain white shirt, a jeans and a white converse. He wears a baseball cap to hide his identity. Like Percy, Kelsi just wore a simple red top, a short and a white converse. She too wears a baseball cap so that no one will notice them since Percy is with her. Eric just wore the typical dress code for bodyguards.

Once they were inside the mall Percy and Kelsi tried to keep it low and avoid possible interaction with fellow shoppers. Eric just watches them few feet away so that it won't be too obvious.

Percy and Kelsi look around for their mom's gift. After some time on the isle of jewelries, a simple white gold necklace caught Kelsi's eyes.

"P!" She called. It was her name to Percy when they were out in the public so not to caught attention and to hide his identity. "What do you think about this one?" She asked his opinion.

Percy went over to her side to look at where she is pointing. "I think it's perfect."

Kelsi called one of the salesladies and pointed the necklace to her. She asked for it to inspect it. Once she is holding the necklace, Percy absentmindedly adjust his cap wearing it backwards as to look at the said jewelry. He got used doing that while he was in Greece when he was out with Annabeth doing some shopping. Annabeth used to ask him why he chose to wear caps while they were out shopping.

"I think we should buy it." He said to Kelsi. Kelsi agreed. He turned to the saleslady only to find out that she was staring at him with wide eyes.

"Miss." He called. "Are you okay?"

The saleslady pointed at him with wide eyes and then suddenly she burst out, "Oh my God! You're Percy Jackson!"

Percy and Kelsi were so shocked and then they both realized what just happened. Percy tried to calm her down but she just squealed so loud earning some attentions. Eric immediately approached them. "It's time to go." He demanded.

Percy drops the necklace and drags Kelsi with him. What they didn't expect is the saleslady yelled his name so loud again and this time a great number of people noticed them and started chasing after them. Who could have known that he does have a great number of fans inside that mall.

Eric encouraged them to run faster as a great number of fans chase them and calling out his name. Eric called their driver to wait for them at the entrance. "Hurry up!" He called to them. "The car is waiting in the entrance."

At some point, Percy tripped on his foot which causes the fans to catch him. He was surrounded by his fans but luckily Eric managed to get him out of there and they both ran so quickly until they reach the car. Once they were inside, his fans tried to run after their car but they were already too fast to catch.

The three were both panting frantically. Percy's shirt was torn and he has a few scratches.

"Are you okay man?" Eric asked.

"Yeah I'm fine."

Once Kelsi regained her breathing, she turned to look at her brother who is sitting beside her. She can't help but smile when she noticed Percy's condition.

"What are you smiling at?" Percy snapped at her. She can't help but burst into laughter. "Just look at yourself. You look ridiculous."

"Ha ha ha very funny." Percy snorted. He saw Eric in front trying his best to fight back the smile. He shook his head and smile.

"See even you think it is funny." Kelsi noticed. "But it was kind of scary and thrilling at the same time. My gosh Percy your fans are crazy."

By this time Percy laughs for real and the three joined him. "Yeah actually it does. I almost forgot the feeling of being chase by hundreds of girls. I thought I will die back there." He said jokingly which they all laugh at.

"Just next time be more careful. We never know when things like this happen again. I got lucky pulling you out there." Eric stated.

"I will." Percy said. "I wasn't careful back there. It slips my mind. I thought I was still in Greece." He said and turned to look outside the window. He has this far away look into his eyes. Kelsi noticed it but let it go.

"We should just head back into the house. I'm sure we will find mom's gift some other time." Kelsi suggested.

Percy lay in his bed staring at the ceiling. He was currently thinking about what happened earlier. They were right. His fans still loves him based from what happened. The news that he was back in New York went crazy. He and Kelsi were in the news everywhere but mostly it was about him.

Nico even called him earlier giving him the news that there were lots of TV programs that are so interested. They want him to guess on their shows. He's currently the man of the hour. It's like everybody wants him.

He ponders on the situation. Nico even gave him advice about it because he knows that he is still on the process of deciding which one he'll choose. He admitted that he sure misses the feeling of being in front of his fans doing what he loves but he is still not sure if he is ready to do it again. He did miss the feeling of being chase around by his fans. Being recognized everywhere. He let out a deep sigh. He still has a couple of days to decide and hope by that time he already has the right decision.

He shifted from his position. He rolled into his side and grabs his phone. He unlocked it. He found himself looking at the pictures on his phone. A particular photo captures his attention. It's not surprising that that certain photo has a girl with curly blonde hair and gray eyes. He took that photo while they were out on a date by the beach. He managed to capture her perfect smile.

Every night before he goes to sleep, he finds himself staring at her picture. And every single night he can't help his tears to fall down. He is so in love with this girl and it hurts him so much that they broke apart. He wipes his tears and put the phone away.

And every single night before sleep takes over him, he prayed that he will have the chance to get her back, to be with her again. Deep inside of him was still hoping that at the end they will still be together no matter how far they are from each other. He is even willing to give up everything just to be with her. He knows that right now it is far from happening but he can't help but hope. He still remembers his promise that he will be back for her and when that day comes he hopes that she still loves him.

With all of these thoughts Percy drifted to sleep with full of hope and worries.

Somewhere in Athens, Greece

Annabeth just came back from her work and she was exhausted. It's been 3 days since she get back from Patras. Her work there was done and so she was now back in her own apartment in Athens. She slumps herself on her bed. These past few days were exhausting for her with all the work and drama that has happened.

She internally groaned. She felt so lost and weak. A broken romance can do that to you. How she managed to finish her work despite the hurt that she was feeling was unknown. For some reason she can forget her personal life during work but at the end of the day when she was alone it will all come crushing down. Thalia and Silena were there for her and she was so thankful for them. They were always there to support her.

Her thoughts drifted to Percy. She glanced back at the letter that was placed on her bedside table. It was from him. She learned that he gave that to Leo the day before he fly back to New York with his cousin. He never had the chance to say goodbye to her because she didn't let him. She was so hurt that she doesn't want to see him. It was hard for her not to say goodbye to him but she knows it was for the best.

The letter, it was all about asking for forgiveness and declaring how much he still loves her no matter what. She knows that Percy meant every word on that letter. She found herself reaching for that letter and opening it once more.

"I'll be back for you once I fixed everything. I hope that when that day comes you are still willing to take me back. I love you Wise Girl. And I will always think about you."

Those were bits of words on the letter that she can't get out of her mind. She wonders if that is even possible to happen. They were miles away with different lives. Of course she knew that she loves him there's no doubt about that but can she moved on from the betrayal? She loves him and he loves her but will that enough to move on. Can she totally forgive him from what he has done? These were the things that hanging on her mind before she finally drifted off to sleep.
