It hurt. He missed him. He missed her. He just wanted to try to do everything over again. It felt different without him, completely different. Why did he let go? Why? Odin had explained everything afterwards, but it had only made Thor feel worse. He felt like it was his fault that his little brother was dead. Why didn't he pay more attention to him?
He was now without a brother and Jane. Thor sighed and closed his eyes as he passed Loki's room like he always did. He didn't want to look over and mourn on his brother's possessions.
Thor reached his room and collapsed on his bed, looking up at the ceiling. He had been exhausted all day. Even with the Frost Giants at bay and without too much war chaos he was still busy nonstop. It felt good to just relax, but at the same time it gave Thor more time to think about his fallen brother and Jane.
"My prince!" a voice boomed from Thor's doorway, making him jump. "You have been called upon. Heimdall said it's urgent!" Thor sat up straight away looking at the guard who had been sent to him. He was short and a lot smaller than Thor would have expected from his booming voice. Thor furrowed his brow and nodded at the guard, sending him scurrying off through the halls.
What could Heimdall need Thor for so quickly? He had just begun to relax and now there was another threat in Yggdrasil? It never ended!
Thor pushed himself off of his bed regardless and bounded the door, but as soon as he took his first step in the hallway, he turned on his heel back into his room. Mjolnir was sitting by his curtains on the far side of the room. He might as well take it just in case. Thor held out his hand, and his hammer came rushing at him. He closed his hand around the cool handle of the weapon and turned to run down the hallway once again.

"… of all the nine realms?" Thor heard his father saying as he reached the end of the rainbow bridge. The splintered edge where Thor had broken off the bifrost was still there, the colorful currents no longer running through the bridge. He was unaware that Odin was going to be there as well, but there he stood next to the mighty gatekeeper gazing into the dark skies.
"That, I don't know yet." Heimdall was saying as Thor approached them.
"Father, Heimdall… What is the meaning of this?" Thor asked.
They both turned to glance at Thor as he stepped up between them, joining in looking over the edge into the endless depths of space. The nebulas and stars were shining brightly in the late evening of Asgard.
"There's a disturbance on Earth." Heimdall said softly. His voice still rumbled through the air like a lion.
"What kind of disturbance?" Thor asked. He wasn't sure whether to feel disappointed that another disturbance erupted or slightly excited at the chance that he may get to see Jane again.
"A visitor showed up down in a S.H.I.E.L.D base… I'm sure you remember S.H.I.E.L.D." Heimdall said turning to Thor. Thor smirked and gave a small nod. He would never forget that time he went down to Midgard.
"I thought at first that it was just another person seeking chaos from some unknown realm. It was… worse and better in a way." Heimdall said.
"Heimdall, please… enough talking in riddles." Odin said although not in a harsh way. Heimdall nodded and turned to face the royal son and father. Thor watched him intently, trying to find any trace of emotion or uneasiness. As always, Heimdall showed none. His golden eyes that reflected all around him stared back at him and his father.
"It was Loki… Loki's alive." Heimdall said. Thor's heart seemed to stop. No… That's impossible. He fell off the edge of the bridge into space! Thor felt a rush of different emotions flood into him… Anger, confusion, and relief all at the same time.
"No… It can't be…" Thor heard his father whisper from besides him. "You are sure he is alive?" Odin asked. Heimdall nodded gravely.
"Positive. He is planning something though. He has intentions that are not good for Midgard. It is best recommended that you go down there, Thor." Heimdall said.
"But… the bifrost was destroyed." Thor said. They were standing at the broken edge where the bifrost used to be that very moment! How else would he get to Earth? Heimdall looked over at Odin and Odin looked back. They seemed to have a silent understanding of something that Thor didn't.
Finally, Odin broke his gaze and looked to Thor. "I will see what I can do. Dark magic is tricky business that only should be used in dire situations. I think now is one of those times." Thor looked down at the ground thinking. Dark Magic? He didn't know how practiced his father was in the art but he did know that too much of it could be dangerous.
"Where is Loki?" Odin asked. The sentence sounded strange to Thor. He was set on the idea that no one would ever use it again. He thought he'd never see his brother for the rest of his life, his best friend… or who used to be his best friend. Nothing would erase what Loki did, but maybe… just maybe Loki would realize his mistakes.
"He is being taken hostage on a flying aircraft. S.H.I.E.L.D is responsible." Heimdall said. Thor gulped and nodded. He knew he was getting into something bigger than he thought he would be getting into. He set his mind to Loki and only Loki. Anger and betrayal built up inside of him.
Thor looked at his father. "I'm ready when you are."
