Jace POV
I walked into the training room and saw all the kids immediately stop talking and lined up in front of me. There was about 12 kids in here. I walked over to them and said, "everybody split into groups of three and pick a station. I will walk around and critique you."
I saw that Will walked over to station one with Jessica and Elijah. Those three were inseparable. I walked over to station one seeing it was knife throwing. William was up first throwing knives left and right and hitting each one. I saw Elijah and Jessica were smirking at Will. Jess looked over at me and I nodded knowing what she was about to do. She walked over to Will and stood behind him. He was about to throw another knife when she blew on his ear. He released the knife and it hit the target close to the outside of the ring. He whirled around and glared at Jess and said, "what the Hell Jess."
She smiled at him and said, "not my fault you get distracted easily."
Elijah was laughing historically at the two of them. I walked up to Will and said, "you have to be more prepared and expect the unexpected. That also means making sure you don't get distracted by - your girlfriend." I looked over and saw Will glaring at me and Jessica blushing like crazy. This made Elijah crack up even more.
Clary POV
I saw Jace and Will getting into it again. I heard some of there conversation about Will getting distracted by Jess. I sat in the corner watching the rest of the students and making sure they were all being safe and doing everything correctly.
"Clary" I looked up to see Alec had said my name. He stood at the door and gestured for me to follow him. I nodded and followed him out the door.
We walked in silence all the way to the hospital room. I walked in and saw that Izy was also in there along with Simon. There was someone laying in on of the beds. I walked over and saw Magnus laying there with a few cuts and bruises.
I ran over to him and said, "Oh my God Magnus, are you okay? What happened Alec?"
Magnus looked up at me and said, "I was attacked by demons who wanted me to send a message to you."
"To me? Why?"
Alec stepped forward, "that's what we don't know. The demon told Magnus that they were coming for you. That an old friend of yours was back for revenge."
I looked confused at them and said, "I have no demon friends. I don't know anyone who would want to get revenge on me."
Izy stepped forward and placed something in her hands. "They gave Magnus this. Clary, does this mean anything to you?"
I looked at what she placed into my hand. It was a small bag with something inside. I opened it and dropped the contents into my hand. I gasped and dropped the contents onto the floor.
Simon rushed over to me and grabbed me. "Clary what's wrong?" He asked with so much concern into his voice.
"Simon look" I said to him point at the discarded pieces on the floor. He walked over and picked up the pieces on the floor and took a closer look.
He shrugged his shoulders and said, "it looks like a broken ring."
I shook my head and said, "Not just a normal ring Simon. Look at it better."
He looked again and it finally dawned on him because he said, "It looks like the ring we used to communicate when you went after Jace and Sebastian."
I began to shake and breathe harder I shook my head, "no it can't be."
Magnus looked confused with everyone else and said, "what does the ring mean Clary?"
I looked at all of them and took a deep breathe. "The last time I had that ring I was stomping on it and destroying it in front of Sebastian. We were the last people in that house before I destroyed it. He had the ring last."
Jace POV
I was finally done training the students for the day when I dismissed them for dinner. I realized Clary disappeared at the beginning of the session with Alec and hadn't returned since. I left the training room and walked towards our room to get washed off and ready for dinner. I walked in to find Clary laying in bed asleep. I decided not to wake her so I walked over to the shower and washed off.
Clary POV
I heard Jace come into the room and pretended to be asleep. I couldn't tell him just yet what we found out today. Sebastian was alive and somewhere out there coming for me. I heard the door open from the bathroom and I closed my eyes. I heard footsteps walking over to me and felt a hand stroke my cheek. I pretend to stir and wake up.
"Jace?" I said in a questioning tone.
"Hey Clary. You feeling okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow and said, "you sure? Because you left early and never came back."
I let out a small sigh and looked down. "Magnus had a run in with a demon."
"Is he okay?" Jace asked with panic laced in his voice.
I nodded and continued, "the demon had a message for Magnus to give to me."
Jace looked shocked and asked, "what message?"
"Pretty much said 'they are coming for you' and gave me a broken ring."
He grabbed my hands and said, "do you know who?"
I nodded and said, "Jace the ring is something I wore 17 years ago. It was the ring I used to communicate with Simon when we were in that house with Sebastian and you were under his control." Jace looked a little confused so I carried on, "I last had the ring when I destroyed it and the house with Sebastian. Sebastian is the last one to have it."
Jace POV
"So this demon who attacked Magnus brought a message to you to give to Clary from Sebastian? Sebastian who we killed seventeen years ago?" I said this while standing in the conference room we had in front of Izy, Simon, Alec, Magnus, Luke, Jocelyn, and Clary.
"It has to be a prank we saw him die!" Izy said and I couldn't help but agree with her.
Clary looked frustrated and said, "Yes, but the ring Izy. I'm telling you all, Sebastian had that ring last. No way could someone else have it."
"He could have grabbed it and dropped it in the demon realm we were in and someone else could be black mailing you."
This time it was Luke who spoke up, "That could be a possibility."
Magnus stepped forward after being so quiet and said, "demons aren't that smart. Unless it was a higher demon, but something about this tells me they weren't completely lying. That realm was my fathers home. He is the prince of that realm. He can easily decide what demons live and die in that realm. What if Sebastian was brought back?"
We all stared at Magnus in shock about what was unwinding right in front of us. I was about to say something when the alarms sounded off for a demon attack in the area.
I quickly grabbed my gear and said, "let's go!"
"Be careful Clary" Jocelyn whispered to Clary giving her a tight hug just as I was leaving.
I was followed out by Clary, Izy, Alec, and Magnus. Magnus sometimes helped us now days fighting against any demons that dare come near us or our children. I was about to open the doors of the institute when Will, Jess, and Elijah joined us.
"What do you think your doing?" I asked when the my walked up to me.
"Joining" will said in a 'duh' voice. I was about to say No when he interrupted me and said, "dad. We are old enough to hunt now. And you have a large group going already. We will be fine. Just please let us join you."
"Fine" I said and we took off to the streets.
Clary POV
We were running down the streets of New York following the mass of destruction this demon was leaving behind. We were all together when we heard a scream come from an abandoned building. We all took off towards the building and decided to split up.
"Will, Jace, Clary, and Jessica go right. Izy, Magnus, Alec, and Elijah go left" Jace said and we all took off. I was leading the way into this grand ballroom when I was grabbed and thrown across the room into the left wall.
"Mom!" Will yelled and took off after me.
"I'm okay" I said to him sitting up. I looked over to see Jess and Jace were fighting off three demons. They were all Ravener demons, made since because they usually travel in packs. They aren't very intelligent, but they can be bad news.
I was now on my feet and William and I were running towards them to help kill these demons. Jace was able to take out one of them when we go to them. We all were fighting the other two when we heard a loud whistle sound and the demons ran to the front of the room where a figure in a large blood red robe was standing.
"What is that?" Jessica asked from beside me.
I looked over at her briefly and said, "I have no clue."
Jace stepped forward and yelled, "Who are you and what do you want?" The figure laughed and my stomach dropped. I've heard that laugh before. I saw Jace had the look of a ghost etched on his face and I knew he was thinking the same thing as me.
"Sebastian" Jace growled.
The hooded figure lowered his hood so we could finally see his face. It was indeed Sebastian. He looked the same, but older. He looked to be around Jace's age.
He laughed more and stared at us straight in the eyes. He turned his glance to me and said, "Sister, it's so good to see you again."
"Wait, Mom, you have a brother?" Will asked clearly confused from beside me.
I looked over at him and said, "No, This creature has never been my brother."
Sebastian laughed again and said, "ouch Clarissa, that actually stung a little." He faked holding a head over his heart and pretended to look hurt.
"How is this even possible?" Jace asked stepping in front of the kids.
Sebastian took his eyes off me and looked at Jace. "Well you see - I did die, but I was brought back by Asmodeus and have been living in that wrecked dimension of Hell for 17 years. I finally was able to make a deal with Asmodeus to re open the entrances and exits of Edom."
He was about to say something else, but I chimed in and said, "what deal did you make?"
He grinned at me and said, "One that you don't want to find out." He then gave a loud whistle and more Ravener demons charged at us. There was about five of them in total. I began my attack on one of the demons while Jace fought off two of them and Will and Jess teamed up to take on the other two. I was nocked to the ground to find it was another cloaked figure, but this one was wearing a full black robe and I couldn't see his face. The figure easily took out the Ravener demon and turned to me. I was about to take the out stretch hand when the figure was yanked back by Sebastian.
Sebastian threw the figure to the floor and said, "How the Hell did you get here?"
The figure laughed and I couldn't help, but think the laugh sounded vaguely familiar. The figure then spoke, "your security detail sucks." It was a mans voice and sounded so familiar, but I couldn't pin point exactly who.
I got to my feet when Sebastian leaned over the figure and he kicked him off. Sebastian growled and said, "I swear Johnathan you are more annoying then your Bitch of a sister."
He just said Johnathan, but that can't be right. How?
Johnathan's hood came off and it was my brother. He looked exactly like Sebastian, but where Sebastian had black hair and black eyes, Johnathan had white/ blonde hair and those piercing green eyes.
Sebastian ran away to the front of the room and let out a loud whistle. Johnathan ran over to me and asked, "Clarissa - are you okay?"
I just nodded at him and ran over to help Jace, William, and Jessica fight off the remaining two demons left. When I got there Jace was stabling one while I took down the other with William distracting it.
"Is everyone okay" I asked in a panic.
"Oh everyone is just fine - for now." It was Sebastian who stepped forward and spoke. He had obviously knocked out Johnathan and was grinning from ear to ear.
"What the Hell do you want Sebastian" Jace asked walking towards him getting ready to attack.
Sebastian laughed and said, "you see I don't require anything. My one and only soul purpose is to do what I should have done seventeen years ago."
"And what's that?"
Sebastian smiled at Jace and laughed, "to destroy you all. Make you pay for what you did to me."
I spoke up and asked, "how come you and Johnathan are split?"
He looked annoyed, but answered "when Jace was brought back all those years ago it allowed another to be reborn as well. This" he gestured between him and Johnathan "is the balance so I could be raised from the dead."
"So this man is my real brother?" I asked looking down at Johnathan.
"Sadly yes, but so am I." He said this and lunged for me, but Jace was there knocking him out of the way of my reach. They were on the ground and both darted up in a flash. Jace was about to advance when Sebastian said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Jace rolled his eyes and said, "why not? Your out numbered Sebastian. Your all alone."
Sebastian grinned and began to back up, "who ever said I was alone?"
Just then the glass window right above me shattered and a figure in a navy blue cloak fell to the floor. The figure rolled and landed on its knees and slowly rose up from the ground with its back towards us.
