The entire universe was in terrible shock.
On the 8 AM news right across the globe, was the exact same dramatic headline that nobody wanted to hear, it caused a lot of people and engines to plummet down into a spiral of grief and depression.
"Ladies and gentlemen, good friends of all ages, it appears with great depression that we announce that Sonic the Hedgehog, loved by all of us, is deceased."
"But, Mr. President, he can't be deceased! He can't! He's my best friend for life, he wouldn't leave!" Tails said to him in disbelief when he 1st heard the news on that 1 tragic evening.
"I'm terribly sorry, everybody, but it's the truth, Sonic's deceased, and nothing can change that." the President said to them while shedding a few tear drops from his eyes.
"That's crazy and wrong!" Knuckles snapped at them. "Whoever's responsible for his passing, I'll find him or her and make them pay for this!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible, Knuckles, that visitor was from some other place." Ronnie Anne explained painfully to him.
"Poor Sonic," Big whispered depressingly to them. "I just wish we'd done a lot more, like got the power rings he needed, got to see him a lot more, we should've done something to help him out."
"But, Big, we already have, and there was nothing more that could be done." Ronnie Anne told him gently. "We can only grieve for our dear good friend and move on."
"But why did he need to pass away? Amy began sobbing silently. he didn't deserve to pass away!"
"Nobody does, Amy," the President said to her. "It just happens very often."
"Kind sir, please tell us that this isn't true." Lincoln begged to them.
"We're terribly sorry, you guys, but it's true, now we can understand that you're all grieving, so everybody in Cartoon City can have a mourning period for Sonic's memories."
"Yes, kind sir, thanks a bunch." Ronnie Anne replied silently to them. They were all feeling depressed not only for the depressing loss and departure of their blue super fast hedgehog hero, but also the effect that it had on the rest of their fleet.
The President had telephoned Mr. Tanaka to tell him about the tragic depressing news, and of course, Mr. Tanaka was in terrible shock, but he was sympathetic, afterwards, they called all of the good friends and neighbors together as always at the Station Square campsite.
"Everybody, we got some very depressing news to tell all of you, Sonic has passed away."
The entire crowd gasped in shock. This was hard to take in, but on seeing his face, they knew that it was the cold stony truth. They were all in grief and depression and very upset about the news, for Sonic was 1 of their super good friends and had done a lot for them.
"I can't believe this." Shadow said to himself through his gritted teeth.
"We need to." Espio said depressingly to him. He sighed heavily just as Storm was the 1st 1 to begin sobbing silently. The others began shedding tear drops too, silently sobbing for their lost good friend, especially Charmy, who was overwhelmed by the passing of his partner that he immediately hid in the shrubs and began sobbing silently. He knew that it was a depressing time for everybody, but he didn't wanna be with his good friends at the minute, he just wanted to be left alone to the lonesome sprawls of darkness around the city town.
Later that evening, Ronnie Anne walked right through the night. She was determined to get to Cartoon City Hospital, despite the fact that she was very tired and keen to fall asleep.
Very soon, she saw a shining lamp ahead. Aha, Cartoon City Hospital! She knew that Lincoln and Tails would be waiting for her there.
When she arrived, she saw Lincoln and Tails speaking to Rouge, Sally and Vector.
"Are you sure about this, you guys?" Rouge asked Lincoln and Tails in concern. "It's very disturbing, we must warn you."
"Yes, boys," Sally agreed with them. "it's super difficult to think about."
"We know, Sally, but death's a complicated matter," Vector assured her. "1 can find it easier to accept death, but they can't get over what it does to anybody."
"Well I'm here to try and help Lincoln and Tails," Ronnie Anne explained to them. "is it okay if...?"
"Yes, alright, my good friend," Rouge said to him with sympathy. "You 3 can go right in there."
"Thanks a bunch, come on, you guys."
Station Square Hospital was very dark at night time, and tonight there was a certain chilling atmosphere, the powerful air felt just as cold as ice crystals, Ronnie Anne tried hard not to react to the freezing workshop and instead thought about helping Lincoln and Tails.
Eventually, she found a peculiar glass storage case which held what they were looking for.
"Lincoln, Tails, I found him..." Ronnie Anne whispered silently to them by drawing closer to her 2 good friends.
Lincoln was in deep grief and depression and tried harder not to faint on the hospital floor, but Tails began sobbing silently right after seeing his best friend for life in the glass storage case no longer smiling, no longer laughing, no longer fighting, no longer speaking, no longer eating, no longer drinking, no longer racing around, no longer breathing and no longer alive and Ronnie Anne had to console him to calm him down while he was sobbing silently on her chest.
"Tails, listen to me, it's gonna be alright, I know it's very disturbing, but you and Lincoln wanted to come here and I'm here to help you guys out and say goodbye as well too."
"But it's super hard to see him like this."
"I know that." Ronnie Anne said to them. She gave a depressed but kind smiling face at Sonic and Tails, who managed a brave and small smile back.
"Hi there, Sonic, it's us, Lincoln and Tails."
There was no response. Lincoln and Tails had been told that they wouldn't get 1, but they couldn't help but hope that it was the wrong idea for them to grieve over Sonic all the time.
"We know we haven't been here ever since you passed away earlier this evening, and we're terribly sorry that you had to pass away, Sonic, you were like a god-brother to all of us, the 1 who would play with me and Lincoln in your spare time and the 1 who always came right through for us even though we would shout and argue sometimes and you trusted me with everything, remember that? we promise we'll protect the universe for you, Sonic." Lincoln and Tails trailed off. "Goodbye, Sonic, my best friend for life." Tails added depressingly to Sonic's motionless body just as he and Lincoln backed away in grief and depression.
"Are you guys alright?" Ronnie Anne asked her 2 good friends.
"Yes and no, Ronnie Anne, we're feeling better that we spoke to him, but we still can't accept that he's gone for good right now, but don't worry about me, say goodbye when you feel like it."
"Alright, but I suggest you go and wait with Sally, Rouge and Vector, we don't like the idea of leaving you with your emotions alone, even though it's for a few minutes, they'll be able to help in some other ways you know."
Without another word, Lincoln and Tails walked right off to meet up with Rouge, Sally and Vector, leaving Ronnie Anne alone with the deceased blue super fast hedgehog.
"Hi there, Sonic, it's me, Ronnie Anne, I know you can't hear me physically, but I sure do miss you a lot more, my good friend, I enjoyed having your company in this neighborhood town when you came here, even though you were a bit wise to Knuckles, Tails and Shadow at first, you know, I do wish I told you more often, but I'm proud of everything you did around here, you changed a lot of lives and you were a brave, heroic and fearless hedgehog, I'm super proud of you, Sonic the Hedgehog."
She smiled at their now deceased good friend and reflected on everything that the blue super fast hedgehog had done in his entire life and of his other memories of Sonic laughing, fighting against Dr. Eggman and his evil army, racing against Shadow, Silver, Lightning and Jet and even meeting Chris Thorndyke for the very 1st time.
Super slowly, Ronnie Anne reversed to join the others downtown.
The very next day, young kids, teens and grownups young and old were allowed the day off from school and work and they helped to contribute for a memorial service, they made tissue paper flowers, gathered a bunch of daisies, buttercups and dandelions, drew pictures of Sonic, and also cried a bit about how Sonic was deceased to their neighbors who shared the mourning as well.
Lincoln and Tails, as his number 1 fan and the other being his best friend for life, were told that they would be responsible for the funeral ceremony beginning from Fisher-Reynolds Memorial Church. Tails was already taking the X Plane with Lincoln as his passenger just like always while Vector, Knuckles, Espio, Shadow, Silver, Lightning and Manic were carrying the red casket (with Sonic's motionless body inside of it) to Fisher-Reynolds Memorial Church. They had agreed that they didn't want him to be left to the likes of Dr. Eggman and his evil army who would make things even worse for the grieving citizens and that was their ultimate decision.
When they were prepared, they set off from Varney-Rickles Memorial Avenue. Many good friends and neighbors all came to pay their respects as well as many other people who wanted to say goodbye to their blue super fast hedgehog friend.
And with that, Lincoln and Tails set off, but Cream couldn't bear it.
"Oh, Lincoln, Tails, I'm terribly upset." Cream said to them and she was indeed sobbing silently and the impact of her good friend's passing had caused her to have insomnia.
"We need to be super strong for them," Lincoln reminded her. "we agree that this should never have happened to Sonic, but we wanna send him off respectively with dignity."
"You're absolutely right, Lincoln," Cream said to them. "Sonic would've preferred us to be bright and cheerful somehow."
"Yes, of course, we'll do it for Sonic." Tails said bravely to them.
Lincoln and Tails took condolences in their good friends and they agreed to remain in a much better mood. Just as they watched the scenery move by, they all took the opportunity to remember their blue super fast hedgehog friend who was never terrified to live life and be who he really was. Lincoln and Tails were super thrilled that they had known Sonic as their best friend for life and idol and even the accident that robbed their best friend for life and idol of his entire life couldn't stop Lincoln and Tails from remembering that Sonic had lived for a lot of years, even though the entire life span for them was increasing, it was still a super good age for a super fast hedgehog to live by.
Sonia felt the exact same. She knew that she would never see hers and Manic's brother smile at everything or hear him laugh in excitement again, but she also knew that she appreciated having him as a brother and she made 1 silent promise to never forget about him and all of the super good times they had shared in this neighborhood town.
At last they all arrived at Fisher-Reynolds Memorial Church. Timothy Lovejoy Waited 'til Sonic's red casket was brought inside to the funeral service room respectively.
Right after the red casket was brought inside and closed, Timothy made a speech and they spoke about how Sonic was always a brave, heroic and fearless hedgehog and about how he would always do everything for them. He mused on his early days in Cartoon City and his bravery on saving the entire town and saving the Space Colony ARK. This caused Amy, Cream, Cosmo, Sally, Bunnie, Rouge, Blaze, Marine, Sticks and Zooey to sob silently just as Sonic was given his best choice following his selfless deeds and this made them miss him more than anything, Lincoln and Tails began sobbing silently and remembering their best friend for life and idol and they felt inadequate to offer them their condolences.
A few days later, the evil man responsible for Sonic's fatal accident at the Cartoon City bridge was revealed to be Dr. Eggman and when they collided with Sonic going the other way with some dynamite, the results had been dangerous.
Lincoln and Tails didn't care about getting paybacks on the evil scientist for taking Sonic away, their best friend for life and idol was gone for good and it haunted them day in and day out, so all day long, whenever they passed Sonic's most favorite places, they did depressing and mournful heavy sighs and the breeze listened to their depressing requiem for Sonic the Hedgehog, beloved by all good friends and killed by 1 evil scientist.
"No! It can't be..."
Chris began sobbing silently. Sonic was deceased? How was this possible? He didn't know what to think at 1st, and he certainly didn't wanna believe that such a good blue super fast hedgehog was deceased. According to the newspaper headlines, it read that Sonic had been killed off in a battle fight at the Cartoon City Bridge, and that his funeral ceremony had been only 2 days before and he had been with them at the time and he hadn't heard about the news 'til now.
Chris knew that he was too late to attend the funeral ceremony, but he heard that there was gonna be a super special memorial service for him near the end of the month which had no mention of him attending.
Well, he would need to change that, wouldn't he?
He made a telephone call to the President of Station Square to let him know about his attendance.
...
Sometime right after Sonic's funeral ceremony, much later in the month, the President got them prepared to prepare for the memorial service. Mr. Tanaka was to take some people from the main city town, Ella was driving the Cartoon City Choir and the Brass Band, and the other citizens were all working together as always to take the golden memorial statue to Sonic's place. There was a lot to be finished and they had to work hard in order to ensure that everything was prepared.
That afternoon, they had a super special announcement to make.
"Chris is attending the memorial service." He announced to them. "He told us that he couldn't make the funeral ceremony just as he had been with Danny, Helen and Frances when Sonic's funeral ceremony happened, so we want you all to be respective."
"Yes, kind sir." they agreed with him depressingly.
"Good, very good." the President said to them and they walked away and things still hadn't been any easier following Sonic's passing.
The President thanked the choir and the brass band right before he stood up to speak.
"We're aware that Sonic had become a symbol of hope and true friendship when he was still alive and that he had been around for a lot of years," He began. "which is always an impressive achievement, Sonic was also a hard and trusty worker and always prepared to help his good friends in their time of need, he was a devoted and caring hedgehog and always looking out for danger and he was also, above by everybody, a brave, heroic and fearless hedgehog."
Everybody nodded in agreement about hearing this.
"Now we'd like to welcome Chris Thorndyke to the front to give a few words about Sonic." They stepped aside and waited just as Chris made his way onstage.
"Thanks a bunch, kind sir," he said to them in a depressed voice. "I truly agree with your heartfelt sentiments, I should also like to share mine, I remember Sonic's good journey quests, Sonic was a remarkable hedgehog, I'm pretty sure Ronnie Anne will remember how Sonic had wanted to protect the universe when he 1st came here."
"So do I." Ronnie Anne said to herself still thinking about their good friend.
"Sonic had meant a lot to all of us all over the past years, and although I can't say, I valued him more than anybody, he became somebody that I valued very dearly, a good friend had always been there to keep me smiling at everything even though hope wasn't there."
"He had also made a lot of good friends who he valued dearly and who he wants them to keep smiling at everything despite this depressing time." he added. "I should remember Sonic not just as a blue super fast hedgehog who changed many other people's entire lives, but also as a true good friend who changed mine, thanks a bunch."
Many other people silently applauded at this speech and they could relate only too well.
...
Later on, Chris spoke to the citizens.
"I'm terribly sorry about everything," he said depressingly to them. "I know that Sonic meant a lot to all of you."
"Yes, right, and we're also terribly sorry," Lincoln added to him. "you showed how much Sonic had meant to you and everybody."
"Yes, of course," Ronnie Anne agreed with them. "it was super emotional."
"Thanks a bunch, Lincoln, Tails and Ronnie Anne, I appreciate it." He saw Sally and smiled at her.
"And who might you be?"
"Sally, kind sir, I was a good friend of Sonic's."
"I see." he nodded. "Well, Sally, I do appreciate you being here as well as the rest of you."
They were silent just like Chris was.
"I can't believe Sonic's deceased," Lightning said to himself in disbelief. "He was such a super good hedgehog, he didn't deserve his kill off."
"No, of course not." Chris replied to them.
"Thanks a bunch for all of your effort," he added. "I've heard from Mr. Stewart, Uncle Sam and their good friends that you all worked very hard, as did Knuckles, Shadow, Silver and the others to make today happen."
"Thanks a bunch, Chris." they said to him.
"I'm terribly sorry about Sonic's passing, he'll be missed by everybody." Chris continued and he went on his way, except Lincoln and Tails stopped her.
"Excuse us, Chris, would you like us to take you anyplace?"
Chris was touched, come to think about it, he wanted to see the sights, so he knew he would need to go to the Cartoon City mansion.
"Well, actually, if you guys wouldn't mind, I would like a lift to the Cartoon City mansion."
Tails walked right up to him. "I'll take you, Chris."
"How kind of you, Tails, thanks a bunch, it's just like old times."
Just as Chris climbed aboard in the X Plane, he allowed his memories of Sonic to watch over him.
Wherever they were, maybe now, they could reunite once again, just like in the old days.
