Chapter 12: Hugo

The high-pitched cry woke them up for the 5th time that day. Ron moaned and Hermione rolled over, still with her eyes shut.
"Your turn. I fed him 15 minutes ago." she said. And as Ron was sitting on the bed, it happened. There was silence again. Hermione's eyes popped open and she sat up. Her and Ron looked at each other, worried. Something must have happened, they thought. The baby never got that quiet so quickly. They both grabbed their wands and walked to the next bedroom where their 3-week-old baby Hugo was. What they saw when they walked in surprised them. Their 9-year-old daughter was sat in the rocking chair next to the crib, baby Hugo in one arm and a book opened on her lap. 2-year-old Rose was sat on the floor in front of them, looking at her big sister attentively. At the sound of steps, Belle interrupted her activity. She upped her head and looked at her parents, smiling.
"He woke up and didn't want to be alone, so Rosie and I decided to keep him company and read to him one of our favourite stories." she said nearly in a whisper. Hermione and Ron just nodded. Hugo looked quite pleased and comfortable in his sister's arms.
"Belle, stowy! Bweast mean!" Rose said. Belle looked at her and smiled.
"Right, there we were. The Beast pushed Maurice into a cell..." she said. She kept on reading the story. Hermione and Ron just stayed there, looking at their children enjoying some quality time together, bonding with each other.
