Chapter 17: Seventeen

Hermione laid awake on her bed, looking at the ceiling, thinking. Next to her, Ron stirred in his sleep. She sighed, loudly, and he opened his eyes. He looked at her, smiling.
"Morning, love." he said.
She turned her head to him and smile lightly. "Morning, hun." She greeted him.
"You alright?" He asked.
"Belle's birthday is next week." She said, looking back at the ceiling.
"I know." He said.
"She's turning seventeen." She said. Ron nodded.
"I know. It's unbelievable. Just yesterday she was a tiny little baby and now she's coming of age." He said.
"Yeah. It's hard to believe we already have a 17-year-old daughter." She said. He nodded. "It's also been 17 years since the war ended. 17 years since all that people died fighting." She added later, her voice breaking a little. He just nodded and wrapped his arms around her. It had been 17 years since they had lost Fred, Tonks, Lupin and so many others! It was painful to think of that.
"Also, it's been 17 years since we officially got together." He said, smiling a little. She looked at him.
"Didn't we get together the night of Bill and Fleur's wedding? You know, when we...?" She asked
"Slept together and created our first beautiful daughter? Yes. For us, that's the day we got together. But we were officially a couple for the rest of the people 17 years ago that day." He explained.
"Right." She said. They stayed in silence for a while. "She'll be delighted when she can start doing magic with no restrictions." She said.
"Yeah. She'll help around the house more once she leaves Hogwarts." He said
"She probably won't live here after graduation, hun." She said. Ron's eyes got bigger.
"Why not?" He asked
"I think her and Adam are planning to move in together." She explained.
"Bloody bastard! There's no way my little girl is going to live with that git." He exclaimed
"He's not a git, Ronald. He's quite nice and decent and responsible, and he really loves Belle. And our daughter is madly in love with him. They're crazy about each other ever since their 4th year. They will be fine." She said.
"I don't like it, Hermione. Aren't they young to be living together?" He asked.
"You and I were practically living together in that tent when we were their age, remember? And we were even expecting her. And everything turned out to be fine in the end." She said.
"Still, I think she's too young." he said.
"Maybe we can talk to them about it, see what plans they really have." she said. Ron sighed.
"yeah, maybe. But there's no way my baby girl is moving in with a git like that." he said. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"We should get up. we need to do some shopping." she said as she got out of bed. Ron sighed.
"I'll buy her whatever she wants. I'll buy her a Quidditch pitch if she wants one!" he said.
"You know she's not into Quidditch, Ron. Although she flies very well and plays quite good, she's not into the sport. So, stop nagging her with it." she said as she walked to the bathroom.
"fine! I'll give her the biggest library of all regarding that she doesn't move in with that git." he said.
"Why can't I have the biggest library of all?" she asked, pretending to be offended by that.
"You don't need one. You already married a git. I don't want her to do the same thing." he said.
Hermione just laughed and shook her head. When it came to their children, Ron could be both adorable and annoying.
