SCREAMING AND CRYING
This one takes place during the first season episode 'Voodoo Something To Me' an hour after the encounter with the porcupine
July 2, 1964
It was an hour after the Skipper stepped on Pumpernickel the porcupine and while everyone went back into the hut to sleep Gilligan stood guard by the fire. He was just taking a sip of water when all of a sudden a woman's blood curdling scream could be heard in the forest.
Gilligan spit out his water and once again pulled the flashlight out of his pocket and pointed it and the gun in front of him.
"Ginger, Mary Ann, Mrs. Howell are you all right?" The Skipper yelled from inside the hut.
"Yes!" They all grumbled as everyone filed out of the hut once again as the screaming continued.
"Egads it sounds like someone is being murdered!" Mr. Howell replied holding his wife closer to him.
"We better look for a cave to hide in!" The Professor replied looking into the woods. "It could be headhunters on the hunt!"
"Wait a minute!" Mary Ann replied suddenly as she tilted her head to the side. "Now that I'm listening closely to it it kind of sounds like. . ."
"A fisher cat!" Gilligan interrupted as he shined his flashlight a few yards away from them.
"A what?" The others asked.
Gilligan shined his flashlight on a dark brown weasel-like creature with a long thin body just as a porcupine was hitting it with its tail. The fisher cat let out another blood curdling scream and scurried back into the woods.
"Oooh that must've really hurt!" Ginger replied yawning.
"Yeah I can relate!" The Skipper replied rubbing his foot as he watched Gilligan run into the woods then come back a few seconds later with the fisher cat. "Gilligan!"
"We have to get the quills out!" Gilligan whispered as he rocked it back and forth. "Shhh it's okay Martin!"
"I'll help him Skipper you can go back to bed!" The Professor replied as everyone else went back into the hut.
Gilligan sat down by the fire with Martin while the Professor held the flashlight pulled out the quills. Luckily there was only a few on his shoulder. When they were all out Martin squeaked, jumped out of Gilligan's arms and ran back into the forest.
This one takes place after their encounter with the storks
July 5, 1964
They had just past the storks and just got out of the mud and into ankle deep water. They were passing a giant cave when all of a sudden they heard a child crying inside the cave. The Professor and Gilligan looked at each other then slowly approached the cave.
"HELLO WHO'S IN THERE?" The Professor yelled as Gilligan shined the flashlight in the cave. Something white streaked across the light.
"Look at that!" Gilligan exclaimed as he shined the flashlight on a 6 foot long giant white salamander that climbed up on a rock just outside the cave. It opened its wide mouth and let out a child like cry.
"I don't believe it!" The Professor replied. "It's a Chinese Giant Salamander!"
As they watched a black giant salamander climbed up on the rock next to the white one and barked. Gilligan fumbled around in his sack and got out a couple of fish. He tossed them in the air and the salamanders caught them in their mouths. They swallowed them whole and barked.
"Great job Yin and Yang!" Gilligan replied as he and the Professor started walking again.
A/N: The Fisher Cat is a member of the weasel family. They live in the forests from the Northern United States to Canada. They have long thin bodies and have deep brown to black fur which changes with the season. They have been known to have calls that sound like someone being murdered.
The Chinese Giant Salamander is the largest salamander/amphibian in the world. They are mainly found in the streams and lakes of China's mountains. They can get up to 6 ft in length. They can bark, whine, hiss, and cry like a child. They are considered to be a living fossil and due to over hunting and habitat destruction they are critically endangered.
