This one takes place after their encounter with the giant salamanders
GIANT HOPSCOTCH
July 5, 1964
"Whoa Professor look at this!" Gilligan replied a minute after leaving the salamanders.
"Good heavens!" The Professor replied as he spotted a foot long snail with a cone shaped shell on a fallen tree feeding on a leaf.
"I've never seen snails that big before!" Gilligan replied about to approach it.
"I wouldn't touch that Gilligan!" The Professor replied stopping him. "I've read that they carry diseases and parasites!"
"Oooh look at that over there!" Gilligan suddenly replied pointing to something on the ground.
In the mud by the fallen tree were a bunch of 3 inch long tadpole-like fish. They were grayish green with blue spots. They had eyes on the top of their heads and looked like they had pursed lips. They were using their front fins to walk around in the mud. As they watched some of them raised their dorsal fins, opened their mouths wide and began hopping around in the mud. A couple of them jumped so high that they nearly hit both Gilligan and the Professor in the faces. They caught them and held them in their hands. The mudskippers starred back at them, opened their mouths wide and hopped out of their hands.
"Catch you later Hopper and Jumper!" Gilligan replied as he and the Professor began walking again.
A/N: The snail I described is the Giant African Land Snail. They are native to East Africa and introduced to various parts of the world through the pet trade. They can grow up to 8 inches in length. They are considered a pest and carries diseases and parasites.
The mudskipper is an amphibious fish. There are about 32 species of them. They can be found in mangroves and mudflats and they use their front and back fins to walk on land.
