Sirius stood there frozen. He had always promised that he would never hurt her and that is exactly what he had done. Pain tightened in his chest as he remembered the promise he had made her.
"I'll never break your heart."
"Hermione, everyone's downstairs. Are you coming to the meeting?" Narcissa asked, standing at the door of the library. "You need to be down there when Marcus arrives since he is meeting with the full order."
"Yes, I am coming," Hermione spoke before taking a drink of whiskey.
"Have you decided what to do with Sirius yet? It's been nearly two months." Narcissa inquired, taking the tumbler from Hermione's hands and placing it on the desk. "I know you have been avoiding it by working for Dumbledore."
"I don't know, Narcissa," Hermione confessed.
"You still love him, don't you?" Narcissa asked sitting down beside her.
"Yes, and that's the problem." Hermione sighed. "How do I accept him back into my life? How do I act like nothing happen?"
"Don't act like nothing happened. Listen to your heart, Hermione. I don't want you to be lonely for the rest of your time," Narcissa said, taking Hermione's hand into her own.
"Is that what you did with Lucius?" Hermione asked desperately.
"Yes," she answered honestly. "Your brother did many things that put Draco and I in danger, but I forgave him. He is a better man now. Come let's go down."
Hermione silently stood and followed Narcissa downstairs to where the Order was waiting. She could hear the voices. "Narcissa?" Hermione asked, stopping her sister in law.
"Yes?"
"Thank you," Hermione said.
"You're welcome." She smiled. "Would you like me to ask him to stay?"
Hermione nodded.
Hermione stepped into the room, finding that Marcus had already arrived. He looked slightly alarmed. His red eyes found hers.
"Take that off," he whispered, pointing to the Malfoy family crest resting on her necklace. "Put this on. You will understand why soon." Marcus pulled a necklace with a pendent resting on it bearing his signet.
Hermione pulled the necklace from her neck handing it to Draco, quickly placing Marcus's around her neck.
"Why?" Hermione's question was answered as the fireplace flared to life. Out stepped two people: an older man with shoulder length gray hair combed back, with a well groomed bred across his face. He was tall with broad shoulders evening out his frame. Dressed in black clothing with a long black coat the inside line was a dark wine color, being the only other color he wore.
The woman by his side was breath taking. A Younger woman with porcelain skin, long red wavy hair falling over her shoulders. She was much shorter than the man with her. Dressed in a emerald green dress hugging her frame perfectly.
They both had the red eyes of a vampire. Hermione's eyes widened and she quickly looked to Marcus, who nodded, answering her unspoken question. This was Alexander and Ophelia.
They pair stopped before Hermione and Marcus. Hermione turned her gaze to the floor, not looking them in the eyes. "My Lord."
"No, child. I have heard very many things about you in the time I have been awake. Marcus has spoken very highly of you. You owe us nothing." Cool fingertips tilted her head up. Alexander watched her intently.
"I don't understand," Hermione spoke with a shaky voice. This man was known throughout vampire history as one of the most vicious vampires that has ever lived.
"We will end Viktor's reign of terror," he said sadly. "We will give you the peace you were meant to have."
"Thank you, Alexander and Ophelia," Hermione said quietly.
"You're most welcome. We all must speak with you privately." Ophelia's soft voice spoke from Alexander's side. "It will not take long."
Hermione now understood why she was bearing Marcus's signet. Quickly looking at Marcus to speak, he silenced her with a headshake.
"We must meet this Albus Dumbledore. I have heard a lot about him." Marcus took Alexander over to Albus, who had begun talking.
"You're not going with them?" Hermione asked Ophelia.
"No, I meet Albus long ago before I slept," she answered with a smile. "You have eyes on you."
Hermione looked up and found Sirius looking at her before he turned away.
Sirius leaned quietly on the wall in the library of Malfoy Manor. Remus was with him. He had waited for Hermione to call but she never did. Then again, why would she? When it was announced that the Order would be meeting once again at Malfoy Manor, Sirius had to admit he was happy. He could at least see her.
He saw Hermione enter the library and go straight to Marcus, the vampire that had hurt her in Hogwarts. What confused him was seeing her speak calmly with him and not trying to kill him. The roar of the fireplace drew his attention away and he saw a man and women step through. Their red eyes gave them away—more Vampires. The slight fear that crossed Hermione's face concerned him.
"Remus, what are they saying?" Sirius asked quickly.
"If you would hush, I could hear," Remus said uneasy about the vampires in the room. Remus quickly listened intently to what was being said. "The two vampires that just entered the room are Alexander and Ophelia. They have been awakened."
"She looks nervous," Sirius said when Hermione looked up right into his eyes. He still obeyed her wishes of leaving her alone. He looked away.
"He loves you but he's not your conduit," Ophelia spoke, looking between Sirius and Hermione. Hermione looked up surprised at her words. "Forgive me. I let my empathic abilities get the best of me sometimes."
"You can feel what he's feeling?" Hermione asked curiously, looking intently at Sirius.
"Yes." She smiled. "He loves you, but I can feel pain and regret so thick around him, it could suffocate someone."
Hermione's shoulders sagged, not knowing what to say. "It's the same from you just with pain and hurt. Your conduit is in the room now as well," she said, pointing to Severus who was entered the room and went straight to Lucius. "He is protective over you the way a conduit should be, but lacks the passionate love. His love for you is protective."
"He is a good man." Hermione smiled slightly looking at Severus. He gave her a look of concern as if he was wondering if he needed to come to her. Hermione shook her head with a small smile. Severus gave her a nod.
"I see that." Ophelia smiled. "Marcus is coming this way; he wants to speak with you. It was a pleasure to meet you, Hermione Malfoy."
"You as well, Ophelia." The elder vampire left, returning to Alexander's side.
"You continue to amaze me," Marcus said with a smirk, looking her over.
"How is that?"
"Well, I see you don't have my special dagger sitting in you anymore. This must mean you have a werewolf somewhere," Marcus stated as if it was obvious.
"I have many tricks up my sleeves." Hermione gave a devious smirk, looking up to Marcus.
"You always have." Marcus laughed, his red eyes watching her closely.
"Do you think Viktor knows they have been awoken?" Hermione asked, turning serious.
"No," he said firmly. "I can't simply find them and wake them. It took quite a lot to get to them. They were not happy when I showed them what happened. Viktor fears Alexander and for a good reason."
"I lost too much that night, Marcus," she said looking up sadly.
"I know, and that why my signet is now resting upon your neck."
Hermione's brow furrowed. "You know this is against vampire laws, right?"
"Of course I do," Marcus admitted. "I made the law. I am the one breaking it for you."
"Why?" Hermione questioned. She wondered why an elder vampire would break a sacred law for her.
"Like I said before, I like you. No one must know what we are about to do, understood? You will be my secondary plan something he doesn't see coming. I cannot let someone as powerful as you, be lost when he is killed." Marcus stated seriously. "Have you let go of your control lately?"
"Marcus, don't go there. This is why we disagreed the last time I saw you." Hermione sighed. "I don't want to be a murderer.
"Hermione, living like a vampire does not make you a monster. Now, in my younger years, I will admit I was a monster. I learned how to control myself just as you have but I only hunt to feed the kill has lost the thrill for me. You cannot live off one person forever, Hermione. If the vampire comes out, it will be unable to resist new blood," Marcus explained. "You may kill someone you love, Trust me you never want to feel that guilt."
Hermione looked in his eyes seeing true pain in them.
Before Hermione could ask a question, the Weasleys entered the room. Ron entered with Harry, closing the door behind him. Ron's eyes turned to her and he sneered.
Hermione rolled her eyes knowing tonight would not end well.
This is what I picture the elders looking like. Somewhat like this anyways.
Marcus-Tony Curran (underworld: Evolution)
Viktor- well he hasn't really showed up yet...but he will. :)
Ophelia- Emma Stone.
Alexander- Sean Connery (league of extraordinary gentlemen) with long hair
A/N: I know Ron's an pain but he gets his...Don't worry! sorry its short!
