30. Two Roads

"Lieutenant, are you familiar with the adage about the road less travelled?"

"Yes."

"Do you ever wish we'd taken the easy one?" Mustang joked.

"No." She replied simply.

"Never?"

"Not once."

"So... If you could change anything about your life you'd choose not to?" he hesitantly pried.

Hawkeye considered the question.

"I would have quit piano sooner."

At Mustangs incredulous expression, she continued.

"After I quit piano I was finally allowed to start shooting. I would have been a better shot." She explained.

Mustang smiled, his expression relieved. As always, Hawkeye had understood his underlying question and fully supported him.
