"What is a Malfoy doing in here?" Walburga asked loudly.
Sirius stilled turning, looking back to Hermione. Hermione simply crossed her arms raising a brow at the portrait.
"Don't look shocked boy." Walburga spat at her son. The disgust she held for her eldest son was clear on her face until she turned her cold eyes to Hermione she looking her up and down. "That Malfoy white hair is a instant give away. You must be Lucius Malfoy's daughter."
"Sister, actually," Hermione replied coldly. "Lucius is my older brother."
Hermione hated the portrait of Walburga Black, the evil old hag had always called her a mudblood but when she found out that, Hermione was together with Sirius; she made it a point to make going past her hell for Hermione.
"Ah, you were the mysterious Malfoy daughter. The one that supposedly died at birth," Walburga sniffed haughtily, looking down at Hermione. "I knew he lied before the Dark lord."
"Who is dead," Sirius mocked stepping back. "let's not forget that."
Walburga's painted eyes locked onto her son, "Shut your mouth, blood trader scum."
"Oh, mother what are you going to do cane me?" Sirius spoke as his face darkening slightly. "Not like you could Cruico me? The only reason you didn't do it while I was a child was because if you had been caught you would have brought shame to the family." Sirius spoke has his voice steadily rose. Placing her hand on his forearm, Hermione watched his hatred erase from his face instantly as his eyes glanced over to Hermione.
Walburga's eyes narrowed at the action as well as the reaction from her eldest son. The woman had always known her eldest son to be a hot head and irrational among many other faults he had. "I see you actually have done one thing right in your miserable life."
The pair looked at the portrait in confusion.
"In finding a witch, fool, at least she is a pureblood; unlike that mudblood you were with," Walburga smiled. They both internally cringed at the sight of the woman smile.
Hermione snorted which turned into complete laughter not being able to control it. Sirius and Remus looked at Hermione amused at hilarious laughter coming from her.
"I'm sorry." Hermione laughed a little more, covering her mouth trying to stop the laughter. She cleared her throat before she began talking again. Hermione locked her eyes directly onto the portrait. "That's funny. My parents hid me from Voldemort by letting me be adopted by muggles; placing very strong glamour's that couldn't be removed. I'm the little mudblood." Hermione said with a devious smirk across her face. Walburga said nothing only her jaw dropped slightly.
"Must be a shock," Remus muttered before and unholy screamed came from the portrait.
Remus and Sirius grabbed the curtains working as fast as possible to get them closed. Remus placed a silencing charm over the portrait.
"After all of that excitement, I think I am going back downstairs." Remus shook his head walking back down the stairs to the party. "Hermione it was wonderful to see you again. We should talk soon."
"Of course, Remus," Hermione replied as Remus hugged her tightly.
"Good night both of you," Remus said walking down the stairs.
"Good night, Remus," Sirius responded watching The werewolf's figure disappear down the stairs before looked over to Hermione. He was happy seeing a true smile on her face once again. He couldn't help but for one to pass over his face as well.
"What?" Hermione asked tilting her head to the side. The cold Malfoy exterior she put off all the time was down, the woman he loved was in front of him once again.
"Your smile," Sirius replied simply. "Still just as beautiful as I remember."
"Thank you," Hermione whispered. "I think I should go back to the manor now."
"I'll walk you down the fireplace." Sirius offered.
"I am actually going to take a walk before I go home," Hermione informed him with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Are you sure that is a safe idea?" Sirius questioned.
The hint of a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, "I am not scared of what is waiting in the darkness anymore, Sirius. I can see it now."
Sirius frowned slightly not saying anything.
"If your that worried, Walk me home?" Hermione commanded playfully.
Sirius shook his head walking around her starting down the stairs, stopping momentarily glancing back up to her. "Well, are you coming or do you want to stay here?"
"That would be a resounding no," Hermione said going down the stair of Grimmauld place. Sirius grabbed his coat from by the door, quickly putting it on before he opened the door for Hermione as the left into the night.
Harry stood at the end of the hallway watching them. He could see the love growing between them once again. He wanted nothing more than them to be happy once again; together.
"Let's hope Sirius doesn't bugger it all up again," Remus said with a smirk from behind harry.
"I agree, because if he does. I think she will actually kill him."
The star shone brightly in the night sky lighting the walk. The gravel of the road leading down the manor shifted under their feet as their conversation flowed.
"You told me Snape has your memories, How did he get them from you. You weren't doing good through then?" Sirius asked curiously.
Hermione frowned slightly, "I can only remember so much as I said he has them. He told me that I was, well a mess doesn't cover it, Sirius. He comes in with many vials slowly taking the worst from me. I know most of it from what I had been told. I truly started recovering after that. I was able to be around my family and get to know them. I think I scared my father a lot. Not that he was scared of me but the fact he couldn't do anything to help me. Lucius never left my side."
Sirius began to wonder if he needed to see the memories from Snape. He was sure Severus would have no problem rubbing them into his face; to see how much could put him in pain.
"What did you do all this time?" Hermione asked
"I worked. I also took my family seat back on the wizengamot." Sirius explained. "Sounds bleeding dull now that I say that out loud."
"Yeah, actually it really does. I thought you never wanted your family seat?" she asked him sounding slightly confused.
"I needed something to do." Sirius shrugged. "I found a way to do some good."
"That's great. I am happy for you." Hermione paused before asking bluntly. "There wasn't a woman to keep you busy?"
"No," Sirius replied instantly. Hermione raised a brow not overly believing it. "Not that they didn't try. I wasn't interested."
Hermione nodded about to say something when she heard something moving quickly around them. Glancing back to Sirius he clearly hadn't heard it. They were almost to the gates, she stopped stopping Sirius in his tracks. "Thank you, Sirius, for bringing me back. I can make it the rest of the way from here, the gates are right there."
"Are you sure? I don't mind." Sirius offered.
"No, I'll be fine. Going home Sirius. It's really late." Hermione said. "Thank you for helping me tonight."
"Of course. I'll see you soon." He leaned forward placing a kiss on her cheek before disappearing from her sight.
Hermione sighed as she spoke, "Come out. Now. I know you're there."
"I was going to surprise you again," Viktor smiled walking out from the shadows.
"You're loud." Hermione grimaced at him in front of her.
Viktor nodded, his red eye almost glowed in the darkness, "I am going to kill your boyfriend."
Hermione gave no reaction to his statement.
"No reaction nothing?" Viktor shrugged. "I thought I would get something out of you. I make no idle threats, Hermione. I don't like him touching you. He will die."
Hermione stood her ground not back down as she leveled him with a glare, her eyes quickly turning red as she spoke. "Touch him and I will tear you apart and watch the pieces burn with joy."
Viktor only smirked at her threat. "If you kill me, Hermione. You will die as well, you in my line."
"Then I guess I'll be dying with you Viktor."
Hermione took great pleasure in watching the smirk fall from his face.
A/N: Okay, I know this is unbelievably short but I have been going through hell. My landlord / Great uncle, called to tell me he was raising our rent and selling the house from under us. So I have been having to such for a house. I did find one and hopefully, will be able to move shortly. meaning I will be without the internet for a minute until I can get it hooked back up.
I have been sort of stuck with this story trying to work out how I want to move this story along and it's been a true pain. I am not giving this story up don't worry but I will have to get my muse back for it. My muse has been focused on some crossovers. Which I am working on now. I apologize again. Hopefully, I can get my life back on track soon. :(
