(Hello there guys, here's another chapter for my story. I'm not sure of what the pairing would be right now, I think I won't have any pairing until the shippudden story of mine. So on to the story!)
Chapter Five: Mission to the Wave
Three weeks has passed since Team 7 had passed the bell test. Since they became genin, they started doing missions and their sensei also started teaching them, but it was mostly team exercises. Naruto was annoyed with his sensei and with Sasuke. He was annoyed with his sensei because he wasn't really teaching them anything that will be useful, Naruto was annoyed with Sasuke because of superiority complex. After the team meeting Naruto and Sakura trains whenever the later has time, Naruto mostly worked with physical training so Sakura could be in shape. Soon he also started working to build up Sakura's chakra pool.
-Present Time-
Naruto was walking slowly towards the team's training ground with his hands in his pockets deep in thought. "I still don't see the point in these useless missions. They're more like chores" he thought. He muttered under his breaths that suspiciously sounded like "Stupid lazy civilians and their chores". He arrived to the training ground and saw that Sakura and Sasuke was there but still no sign of their sensei. He walked towards Sakura and stood by her.
Sakura was deep in thought about her training with her teammates, unaware that said teammate was next to her until he spoke up. "I take it that sensei hasn't arrived yet?" he asked, Sakura yelped in fright and jumped in fright and fell on her butt. She stood up, nursing her behind and glared at Naruto, who watched with an amusing smile on his face with a chuckled. "Damn it Naruto! You didn't have to scare me like that!" she yelled angrily, Naruto waved his hands defensively. "Don't be so angry Sakura-chan; you know I didn't mean anything by it." He said nervously, Sakura expressions soften a little before she sighed. "It's fine, sorry I snapped." She said sheepishly, Naruto chuckled and gave her a small smile. "It's alright Sakura-chan; you could say it could be my fault for scaring you which I didn't mean to happen." He replied sincerely, Sakura nodded with a small smile and both went into a comfortable silence. After a few more minutes their sensei had finally arrived. "Yo!" he waved lazily to them ignoring Sakura's accusation of him being late.
He eye smiled at them. "Sorry I'm late, I helped an old lady with her groceries and also I had another bad luck when a black cat crossed my path." He explained everyone sweat dropped at his antics. Naruto just sighed and massaged his temples. "Dammit sensei, when are you going to ever arrive early?" he asked exasperated, Kakashi nursed his chin and hummed in thought. "Well…" everyone, besides Naruto, payed attention to him. "I don't know." He replied with his infamous eye smile. Naruto had a tick mark. He grunted and looked away and stuffed his hand his pockets. Sasuke also grunted and walked away from the group. Sakura just sighed exasperate. "You never change sensei." She stated and started walking next to Naruto, Kakashi sweat dropped. "Am I really that bad?" He thought to himself and started following his students.
It took them a couple minutes to arrive at the Hokage Tower but they arrived and started heading towards the mission hall where they found the elder Hokage and their Academy sensei sitting besides the Hokage handing out missions out. "Hello Lord Hokage, Team 7 reporting for a mission." Kakashi said with his book put away, Iruka took out several mission scrolls that were labeled D-rank. "Right, let's see what we have here." The elder Hokage said, looking through the scrolls. "We have several of them, capturing Tora." he ignored the groan of displeasure from the team 7, which he ignored, and continued reading. "Babysitting my grandson Konohamaru, and…" he would've continued on, but was interrupted by Naruto, who had stepped forward to say something to their village leader. Sarutobi motioned him to speak. "I'm sorry Lord Hokage, but these pointless mission won't really help us in the experience we've need." Naruto stated. Hiruzen nodded. "I do see you're point Naruto-kun." Iruka spoke up. "You can't be serious Naruto-kun. You and your team are genin that had graduated the Academy so you can't really start doing C-rank mission start away." He reason, Naruto gazed towards Iruka. "I know that we did just graduate from the Ninja Academy. We are ninjas now; we can't always be shelter by anyone. The moment we receive these headband, we became shinobi for our village. We fight, we kill and we die for our home so it could be a safe place for the next generation of ninja. Sooner or later we too, will face the true horror of the ninja world." He stated with little to no emotion. Iruka was shocked of what Naruto had just said. Hiruzen stayed silent and listened to Naruto's speech. "Every since the kidnapping of Hinata he became who he is today, such sharp mind for someone from the Hyuga clan. He could give any Nara a run for their money in the intelligence department." He thought to himself, smoking his pipe.
"Such an intelligent mind he has." Thought Kakashi, surprised by Naruto's speech about the ninja world and the Shinobi. "He has a good grasp about how the world works and he hasn't been outside the village." Until one memory clicked, it was memory that had happened when he was five years of age. "Never mind he knows how the village are when bloodline. I'm surprised he still remembers and doesn't hold a grudge." He thought looking to where Naruto was standing. "He has a pure heart, he will be a splendid ninja, he might pass you one day… Minato-sensei…" He thought looking at the picture of the Fourth Hokage that was inside the office. Hiruzen had finally finished the explanation for having D-rank missions, to which Kakashi, Sasuke, the later of the two think it's a waste of them while the other had known about it. Naruto and Sakura were the only one that had listened to the explanation. "Kakashi-kun, do you think that your team is ready for a higher ranked mission?" asked the elder Hokage, who had turned towards the jonin in the room. Kakashi nursed his chin in thought. "Well I know that my team is ready for a higher mission Lord Hokage." Kakashi stated lazily, also taking out his book making the other people gain a huge sweat drop. Naruto sighed before looking back at the Hokage, trying his best to ignore Kakashi perverted giggles. "Lord Hokage." He started, gaining the attention of the elder man. "Is there anyone beside Kakashi-sensei that could teach my kenjutsu?" he asked curiously. The elder man toke a puff of smoke from his pipe, putting his thoughts together. "Hmm… there is someone that could teach you kenjutsu, but may I ask why you want to learn something beside the Gentle Fist taijutsu?" Sarutobi asked curiously. "Well I want to be a well rounded ninja, specialize in everything, since the Hyuga clans specialize in taijutsu. I want to be an expert in ninjutsu, since you know about "it"…" he said the last part in a voice barely above a whisper. The Hokage said nothing. After a few moments of silence, he spoke up. "I will see when you come back from your C-rank mission." Naruto nodded and stepped back standing next to Sakura, who had remained silent.
Sarutobi turned his gaze towards Iruka. "Bring Mr. Tazuna in." he said in a commanding tone. Iruka nodded and told the receptionist to bring the client in. the door opened and a strong scent of sake filled the room and the noses of the genin teams wrinkled in disgust. An elder man walked inside the office and stared in disbelief at team in front of them. "You're kidding me right? I asked for ninjas not a team of bunch of wet-behind-the-ears brats!" he said angrily. Suddenly the room was filled with killer intent so strong that even the Hokage gulped and scooted away from his desk.
"You think that we're not capable enough for this mission? All we really are doing is just escorting you and protecting you from bandits, am I right?" he asked innocently, maybe too innocent. Tazuna chuckled nervously slightly afraid of the blonde of the group, waving his hand in front. "Yeah of course…" He replied nervously, Naruto narrowed his eyes before nodded and looked away crossing his arms over his chest. "I have a very bad feeling about this." He thought to himself. "Right, head on home and pack for a few week trip for the mission and meet me and the client at the west gate in one hour." Kakashi said before teleporting away. Naruto sighed and started walking out the office, and started heading home. When he arrived at the compound he went straight towards his room and started packing a few pairs of clothes and some ninja equipment.
After he was done packing he went towards Hiashi's office to let him know that he will be gone for quite a while. He knocked the door and was given permission to enter. Hiashi looked up from his paperwork and gave a small smile when he saw it was Naruto. "Hello Naruto-kun, what can I do for you at the moment?" Hiashi asked curiously. Naruto bowed before replying. "Lord Hokage had given me and my team a C-rank mission, so I might be gone for a few weeks or so." Naruto explained. Hiashi nodded. "I wish you luck Naruto-kun." He said looking at Naruto who is now standing. "Thank you, Lord Hiashi…" he replied with a small smile before he bowed and left the office.
Naruto was walking outside the compound when he ran into Hinata, who was heading home after team training. "Hello Hinata-chan." Greeted Naruto, Hinata gave a tired wave. "Hello Naru-kun." She replied tiredly, she walked towards him before she stopped in front of him. "Where are you heading Naru-kun?" she asked curiously, titling her head to side slightly. "I received a C-rank mission today." He replied. He looked up towards the sky before looking up towards Hinata. "It will be a few weeks that I'll be gone, say good-bye to Hanabi-chan for me, alright." He said softly before walking past Hinata, who hasn't moved yet. Her body trembled slightly before she spun around and wrapped her arms around Naruto, who eyes widen in surprise. He turned around and embraced her. "What's wrong Hinata-chan?" he asked softly, stroking her hair. "Please come back to me, I don't want you to leave me alone." She said in a voice that barely above a whisper. Naruto broke the hugged and grabbed Hinata's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "You don't need to worry about it, I'm not dying yet, I'll come back, I promise." He said tenderly to her, before he pulled her into another hug and broke after a few seconds. "I will see you later Hinata-chan." He said before heading towards the west gate where his team and the client were.
Naruto arrived in a rather amusing sight; Sakura was trying to dispel Kakashi as he was an illusion, who was reading his perverted book. "Hey Sakura-chan!" He called out to her; Sakura stopped what she was doing and looked towards Naruto, who was arrived near her. "What is it Naruto-kun?" she asked confused.
"Kakashi-sensei isn't an illusion Sakura-chan; he had finally decided to arrive early for once." He explained while chuckling a little at the face of Sakura, who stared in disbelief at Kakashi. Naruto and Sakura started walking to their sensei, who was giggling like a school girl. He suddenly felt great pain for having the wind knocked out of his lungs, he grunted in pain and look to see who was responsible; he saw it was Naruto. "Don't you ever learn sensei?" he asked. "Next time you read that damn book in front of me I will crush what makes you a man." He threatens, with a dark aura surrounding him. Kakashi chuckled nervously, involuntarily covering his manhood.
After the little display they hit the road, the trip is a quite one, Sasuke was brooding about different ways is he going to kill his older brother, Kakashi was reading his pervert book again, sense Naruto isn't really looking because he is a little ahead of the group. Naruto tensed up and stopped walking and looked around. "What is it Naruto?" asked Kakashi. Naruto didn't replied, he did one-hand seals and whispered. "Byaguka…" and scanned the area until he saw the genjutsu. "I felt a sudden chakra usage and when I scanned the area I found a genjutsu." He replied to his sensei's question without looking back. Kakashi just nodded and kept walking. Soon they passed the "puddle" and suddenly two ninja appeared from the puddles and wrapped the chains around Kakashi, who was "surprised" about the sudden attack. They suddenly pulled the chains and "Kakashi" was ripped apart. Sakura gasped in horror at seeing her sensei being ripped apart "Sensei!" she cried out. Naruto had an emotionless face, and Sasuke was surprised.
Sasuke quickly got out of shock and pulled out a kunai knife and threw it was perfect accurse and pined the enemies' chains on a tree. He quickly took out a shuriken and threw it hitting the kunai, embedding the kunai deeper. He smirked at his handiwork, but the smirk faltered when they detached their chains and bypassed him and went straight towards Tazuna, who was shaking with fear, before they came near them Naruto appeared in front of them and quickly sent and palm thrust charged with chakra and crushed one of the enemy's lungs and kicked the other away.
Sasuke quickly engaged the one that Naruto kicked away. He quickly to out two shuriken and threw it. The Mist ninja dodged the shuriken; Sasuke smirked and pulled in hand back, also bring the shuriken back, it hit the missing-nin shoulder. Suddenly Sasuke saw that Kakashi appeared and had the enemy in a choke hold. He looked back at Sasuke and eye smiled. "Sorry Sasuke, but we need him alive to see who they were after." He said, Sasuke scowled and simply stayed silent. Naruto looked at everyone one seeing if anyone was okay, Sasuke was brooding again, Tazuna is sweating bullets, Kakashi was tying up the two missing Nin, and Sakura, and she was standing still and shaking like a leaf. Naruto grew concerned about her. He walked neared and noticed she was crying, instantly he pulled her into a hug. "Shh… it's alright Sakura-chan." He whispered softly, rubbing her back to calm her down. She finally calmed down and just embraced him. "Is this the life of a ninja? A life filled with bloodshed and death?" she asked. Naruto just nodded.
They finally broke apart from each other, Sakura looked towards where Kakashi, Sasuke and Tazuna were waiting and faced Naruto again, and she smiled. "Thank you, Naruto…" she said. Naruto gave her a smile. "It's no problem Sakura-chan. We got to start moving again cause Tazuna is getting greatly irritated with us." He said chuckling and started heading towards the team followed by Sakura who stifled a giggle.
