As Kai, Ame and Dawn went about their early morning routines, cursing the early hour, the cats were sulking around the kitchen. They had made a mistake the night before by showing themselves to the three girls who had taken them in.
"Stupid Cats. Stupid Robbers. Stupid time, stupid fish face!" Dawn yelled as she pulled on her shoes three hours after she had been woken up. She should have had at least two more hours to sleep, but no. Those stupid felines that Ame had all but adopted decided to be people who were dicks to sleep. "I am so going to have all of those little bastards neutered," she added as she grabbed her keys and yelled that she was leaving. Amelia had yelled back telling her to grab some food on her way home. They were running low on eatable stuff.
The cats who had heard Dawns threat cowered and retreated to under the couch for safety. Kai 2 and Dash, however wondered over to Ame and tried to get her attention. Ame only glanced at them and moved to make herself something for breakfast. She had to remember to go shopping for food soon. Kai had been the only one smart enough to go back to bed and sleep. Several cats had hidden, after Dawn tried to drown them in the shower and Amelia hadn't seen them since. Dash had continued to follow Ame around as she cleaned up after the mess Dawn had made. The two sisters would be leaving in a few days to meet up with their extended family and Amelia would be alone, if she didn't count the cats that were human at night.
"Look cat," Ame said after the thousandth time of tripping over the blond-haired menace. "I get that I gave you food and shelter, and that you're a human and all, but can you not try and kill me for like five minutes." Dash looked down at his paws and his ears drooped. He meowed meekly and gave her the kitty eyes but she didn't budge. Eventually he had gone to lay on the carpet in the living room and fell asleep in the sun spot he had found.
Kai had gotten up at eleven and found a note telling her to feed the not-cats and to clean up the guest room while Ame and Dawn were at work. Reluctantly she fed the little devils and restrained herself from putting rocks in the dish. Several cats refused the food but Dash and Pumpkin had no problem finishing off their share. Kai smirked at the two as they licked their chops and bounded off in different directions to be cats. They were the only ones that even acted remotely like felines as far as Kai was concerned.
The day drew on and Kai found herself bored and lonely. She had watched the cats as they moved and fought but she got bored when Kai 2 kept breaking it up and then wondering off to do something else.
By the time Dawn returned from her shift Kai had made several paper hats and placed them on the cat's heads and had placed them in the box, which she had drawn on to make it look like a ship. Dawn watched as he little sister acted like a child with the cats mewing and hissing as she rocked their box-boat. Dash was jumping all over the place in the box and pouncing on the others. Dawn watched as Kai laughed and picked up the yellow kitten. She couldn't help but wonder if the yellow one was actually a cat or just a very good actor. Or maybe he enjoyed the freedom of being tiny and furry instead of being human with responsibility for stuff.
Dawn grinned when she saw Kai 2 had scaled the box and was about to jump to freedom.
"Oh no you don't!" she yelled as she grabbed the red cat and raised it high into the air. "No cat escapes Kai and Dawn the evil cat smugglers!" Kai laughed as Dawn twirled Kai 2 around before placing him back in the box beside Dash, who jumped up to reach the outstretched hand.
"MWAHAHAHAHA, NO CATS CAN ESCAPE US!" Kai exclaimed as she broke down into tears of laughter. Dawn laughed along as she lifted the box into the air and ran around the room with it making aeroplane noises.
The cats screeched and hissed as the two continued to jostle them around but Dash loved it. Or he did until he flew out of the box and hit the wall above the couch. Being a cat was fun but dealing with hyperactive crazy people wasn't. He missed the calm one who fed him and petted him and smiled at him. Kai and Dawn were just evil demons. They were worse than the Konoha ninja that kept trying to hunt them down.
'Hitting walls as a tiny cat sucks, yeah.'
