Hey guys! It's me pixeltrix!
Since my most loyal reader, Valkyrie-Synthe complained that the chapters take too long to be written, I tried my best to speed up the process (Just a tiny bit though, also I hope the overall quality didn't suffer)
TheDemonKing99: Thanks for the nice Review & Fav, I really appreciate that. Now here you can have a cookie from my cookie jar *offers cookie*
Now without anymore stuff…here we go!
Jungle Triangle (Part 2)
Merrick's words ringed a lot more through Mila's mind than she would have admitted, though there was not denial that he might be right; after all Elias, Keegan and Merrick together the rest had been on Rorke's kill list ever since their former Captain reemerged from the dead out of that pit as somebody else; it was as if someone took all of the person he used to be away and deleted everything he stood for, replacing it with this revenge driven evil. Was evil even the right word to describe Rorke? Would it be fair to wonder if anything of the light hearted dork he used to be was left?
Mila shook her head, answering her own question, while Merrick just kept his gaze upon the screen. A small knit built up on his forehead, not to mention the way his hazel eyes grew colder with every passing breath his lungs reached for.
"This…what…makes you-" Mila stood up tall though her voice everything else than strong, not conveying the same message as her body. The syllables were made to be stuck inside her throat, when Merrick's glance shifted sideways then to the ground, a warmer hue came alive in his eyes;
"-What makes me…believe that Rorke didn't kill them!?" Merrick leaned a little forward towards Mila, emphasizing with the twitching of his eyebrows how much anger there saved up deeply inside him; it was like a never ending fire which would never end to burn, until Rorke was finally silenced by his own hands.
"Do you even have any idea…any idea, what it…was like to watch Rorke torture…those of us who already lost their lifes?!" Merrick gripped banister tight, clenching even; Mila could spot his arm muscles twitch under the force his hands had to handle. His teeth could be heard grinding over each other;
"Ajax…Elias…" He mumbled with a softer voice as his body seemed to ease up; a tear jet so small build up in his eyes. Mila's face was as blank as a fresh sheet of paper. As Merrick's look hit her, she backed away and also faced the floor.
"Rorke." Merrick started again while taking a deep breath, sucking in enough air to finish his sentence. His heart rate dropped again, enabling him to think clearly;
"He kills to make us lose our minds; if he wanted to scare us, he would have used a more subtle method. This…this has nothing to do with that; in the past, he only used a hand gun to kill with a clean shot." Merrick turned around and rubbed his eyes while Mila nodded to a soldier to type along.
"Only a clean kill, is a good kill." Mila followed along Merrick's thoughts.
"Exactly." Merrick nodded his voice accompanied along by the typing in the background.
"This was the work of somebody else."
"Show me David Walker's helmet cam." Mila dictated with a sense of bitterness in her voice. A few seconds later the feed had loaded and everything they saw was how Hesh ruffles Riley's fur followed by petting the dog. Hesh titled his head left and right to check his surroundings, then his glance fell back onto his weapon. Gazing towards a wall of bushes and trees, only with difficulty he could separate a white silhouette between the leaf curtains and wooden pillars. His furry companion's ears just winced by every sound that originated from the silhouette; one glimpse back at the team to see if anyone would miss him; Hesh decided to make sure that the warmth signal wasn't a jaguar or even worse a patrol of the Feds. Should he have asked Stephen for permission? Was there even time? If he was right about his assumption he might just be the one who killed them all.
Hesh leaned close to Riley and whispered into the dogs ear, commanding him to stay at the very same spot Hesh left him. The dog lowered his head and whimpered as he nudged Hesh's leg;
"What is it, Riley? I will be back asap." Hesh reassured his canine but the dog would stop whimpering and wiggling his tail, claws scratching across the dirt from Riley's nervous pacing. Hesh's hand rested on the dog's head before rising to his feet again, turning his back on Riley, who still wouldn't stay calm, but he had to obey; Hesh was the alpha and what the alpha ordered stood above everything his instincts alerted the dog about. His nostrils sniffed the ground nervously while he rested his head between his paws. The dog's brown eyes fixed on Hesh who disappeared behind the bushes;
"We lost the signal!" A technician announced while her fingers brushed over the keyboard, trying to find the source of the problem; he wouldn't switch of his helmet camera, would he? Merrick and Mila starred at the pitch black main screen.
"Then you better get it back!" Mila unintentionally barks at the technician, while pinching the bridge of her nose. She spun around to look another one, nearly bumping into Merrick during the process. Merrick blinks at her then an annoyed sigh comes across his lips, his index finger and thumb also move to pinch the bridge of his nose.
"I am afraid…ermmm…Walker's helmet cam is offline, though I am not sure if it was his own doing or something else.; It takes me some time to hack into it and bring it back online. " A technician explains, her hands moving swiftly above the keyboard. She didn't blink, the numbers and strings of code gripped all of her attention.
"What the hell is he doing!" Merrick spat leaning over the railing and Mila pressed her earpiece;
"Hesh?! Do you read me?!" She radioed in her calm and clear voice; starting to walk up and down the room. Every second was killing her even more; what the hell was happening. A grimace came over her when the hall only got filled with static; she shook her head to Merrick. The other Ghost looked at her as if he was about to blame her about this; though he stayed silent. His cold stare was already enough for Mila to look down and clench her fists in frustration.
"Charlie-Hotel, this is Red-Fox." Mila cabled stepping forward the feed of Stephen's helmet cam popped up, who seemed to already be aware that one of his Ghosts went astray. Riley still was on the very spot, Hesh had left him, sinking into the mud. Even someone like Stephen, who had no connection to dogs at all, knew something was up; the way Riley's pupils got smaller and smaller, his teeth blocking away a growl or even a bark.
"Copy. " Stephen replied. He crouched down besides Riley and petted the dog on the only spot where no mud was; his head. Riley threw a glance at Stephen, nudged him and growled towards the part of the forest Hesh disappeared into;
"Walker's gone; you better find him fast; we don't have conformation how much Feds are hiding around the island." Mila speaks fast and turned to Merrick who reached out to Keegan.
"Alpha-Hotel, collect simples of the dead bodies, then proceed as planned." He commanded the tension wasn't evident in his voice, but Keegan hesitated before he responded, motioning the team to split up to secure the compound, some more shots feel and defeated grunts could be heard.
"Copy that."
Stephen looked towards the forest with his thermal goggles; he snapped, there was none, though he could be wrong; the goggles didn't have that much of a scope, especially at these oppressive conditions after a monsoon rain
fall. The other team members where busy securing the area and hiding the bodies, before marking the LZ with heat sticks which couldn't be seen with the bare eye, though it was a enormous help for the pilot's to find an ideal place to land; especially when someone was WIA (Wounded In Action).
"Requesting suggestions on how to further proceed." Stephen simply said; he couldn't risk endangering the mission more than necessary , Walker wouldn't have left the team without a reason; the boy was a skilled Ghost from what he had witnessed back in Mexico; though he lagged the ability to keep his feet still; sometimes the best method was to just sit tight and wait it all out.
"Secure LZ then start searching for Walker." Mila suggested and Stephen nodded;
"Copy that." Mila knew they only had one shot at this mission; an it was a precious one; the intel that they would be able to gather was priceless; it would give them insight on the way the Federation develops it's weapons and who is behind it; it was an easy game. If you take out the source; the problems would just disappear without a trace.
The forest around him started to get thinner with every obstacle he left behind him; he crawled out beneath a fallen tree, which must have been hit by a lightning; none could miss the smell of burned wood in the air. As he got out from beneath the tree, he shook the mud of his hands the best he could; Who was this silhouette, which set him even up on this trip?
The next step he set on the ground would seal his demise; I sharp pain went through his ankle, while feeling his heart bump inside his ear drums, blood rushing from his feet inside his head; through his blurry vision another heat signal got visible; this way of walking, the way the persons fingers twitched by Hesh's sight; it couldn't be…no…it just couldn't be;
"Logan…" Hesh gasped as he felt his blood drip from his nose. "Logan!" Hesh calls out his eyes wide; it was him…it was him. The person who Hesh took for Logan moved forward out of the shadows, while Hesh put away the goggles.
"David?" His voice just oozed of defeat, hopelessness and most of all pain; but…this was his baby brother; chocolate brown eyes, messy blonde mane, those two features where the most present and the only ones making it possible for Hesh to define his baby brother. Logan rushed towards Hesh who still hung upside down from a branch, the rope around his ankle tightening with every second, it started to eat away his skin though his pants. The pain didn't matter, as Hesh forced a smile on his face as Logan stepped closer.
"It's really you…!" Hesh found tears streaming down his face; while his hands tried to reach out for Logan, just to touch him, tell him everything would be going to be okay, that Rorke would never be able to separate them again. Logan forced also a smile across his face, as he pulled a knife from his pants and cut through the rope, releasing Hesh from his trap; the older brother could barely keep himself on his feet; this was too much, he just couldn't take it anymore.
"Logan…" Hesh gasped while dropping to his knees; he had been tired for a long time, but for the first in months he felt whole and alive again; words couldn't express they way he felt; Hesh forced himself towards his brother; his arm extended to his full length; fingers desirably spread out to further extent his reach; nothing would stop him from uniting with his baby brother. Inches away from Logan who had out of the sudden plastered a grin across his face Hesh experienced, how a blow from above caused his elbow to break; the lower part just catapulted upwards, then crashing into the ground. The burning pain of his sinews ripping from the tips of his fingers; made him scream so hard his voice cracked down at the last note. He lay there face pressed into the mud; the pain paralyzed him, muscles twitching unable to bare the pain. Broken gasps accompanied the twitching of his muscles; not even the kicking in adrenalin bust could ease the agony;
"Lo…ga-" The only word Hesh's brain enabled him to gasp got cut off when another blow to his sternum violently deflated his lungs; harsh breaths broken down by more gasps, the last time he opened his mouth to breathe, instead of doing so, he coughed blood.
"I am happy to see you too, brother." Logan grinned his features darkened from the shadow of the tree, the wind flared up the movement of the tree and leaves. A single beam of light fell on Logan's left eye, which was dull and only had the brown ring of his iris left, the rest of it appeared in a pitch black. Logan pressed his boot onto Hesh's chest, pinning down like a bug. The movement and thrashing of the Ghosts limbs, made him look even more broken and defeated;
"Argh…Lo-" Hesh reached out with his other hand, but Logan just gripped him the collar of his jacked , pushing Hesh against the next tree.
"I am disappointed…" Logan sharply punched Hesh before crouching in front of his now against a tree sitting half passed out brother.
"How could a Ghost, trained by the great Elias Walker run into a trap like this?" Logan asked rubbing his chin, while his wide maddish eyes fixed on Hesh's bloodied face, who's eye lids just switched between closing and opening; Was this…this…his baby brother?
"I guess, Walkers training didn't have the wanted effect on you." Logan moved closer whispering into Hesh's ear with his hot breath. Blood from Hesh's coughing sprays onto Logan's face, who just smirks. He gripped Hesh's broken, or more like destroyed arm or what is left of it, which he had ravaged like that. Hesh grunted in pain as he buries his agony filled with tears plastered face in the mud.
"I promise I will find a nice blooming tree to hang you onto…so you can dry and reflect as to why you just forgot me; how you never came to save me; I screamed louder and louder, hoping my pleads would be heard." Logan chuckles dragging Hesh across the mud towards a large tree.
"I died and you never showed up to bury me."
There you have it! There is he, our cute cinamonroll Logan! More like a spicy chilli (UwU)
