Chapter Eight
The bright sun over head was dreadfully annoying to the one who laid underneath the bright blue sky. Little shade from the bright sun over head, caused the golden eyes it was shinning in to narrow. Though for anyone else, at any given moment, if something they would get up and move to stop the irritation right? Well fortune seemed to not favor this person as the moment, as moving was near impossible, well not fully. Movement was doable, but it would be at a great risk this person had refused to take. Sustaining such a great wound would mean death if not given time of rest to heal. Though the wound its self should have been healed by now, it was odd that it had taken such a long time, even if that given time had only been a handful of hours, a handful of hours tracked mindlessly of the sun moving across the vast sky above. Letting out an irritated growl, the person who was gravely injured, and rather annoyed at the moment with everything possible decided that rest was needed, and was a good escape from the annoying situation he had found himself in. Closing his golden eyes he let his mind rest, and let his body go back to healing itself.
Little feet padded against soft moss covered ground. The one pale feet where covered lightly brown as its owner ran through mud and dirt, not giving a care to the dirt that coated its feet as it ran, ran as fast as it could, as if it stopped running it would die.
Dodging yet another low branch, the owner of the small feet, a young girl with dirt colored hair, and a torn pink kimono, ran through the never ending forest. Her little feet pounding out a rhythm against the moss covered ground, as she jumped and danced around fallen trees and thorn bushes. The hear beat in rhythm to the running, keeping in beat, though the lungs strained to catch air as the girl ran, her chocolate eyes darting around her every once in a while, as if on the look out for something or someone.
it was during this moment of looking around, that the girl was not looking down, when her foot snagged on an upturned root, and with the speed of which she was running, sent her flying forward and down into the ground. Her hands reached out to catch her, but did very little as she slid along the dirt and mud, her hands, front and face getting covered in the wet earth. It took a long heartbeat of a moment before she would move again, her body going through the shock of the fall, as she slowly sat up, wincing when her knees stung, and her ankle felt stiff, but she knew she could not stay down long. If she did, she would be caught, and being caught would mean her death.
With fear pounding in her chest, she looked around her, surveying around. Nothing, not a thing made a sound around her, till all she could hear was the blood pounding in her ears. Gulping, she quickly stood to her feet, wincing with the movement. She took in her self, and tried wiping off the mud fro her hands, arms, face and kimono, but it did little good. Checking her arms for bad cuts, she was glad to find only minor scrapes, as well as with both of her knees. Her ankle felt a little painful to put weight on at first, but after a few tentative steps, she begun jogging once more. This time being more mindful of where she was jogging and going, an other fall might mean she wont be getting up again.
After quiet a few more minutes of jogging and fast walking, she pushed through a thicker bunch of trees grouped together, and came to a small clearing. Though it was only where a few trees sat farther apart from the others, and the sun was able to shine through the lose branches, lighting up the area around her rather brightly. Sighing she stopped to gather her breath, and looked around. When her eyes fell on a cloth of white laying on the gound around a bend of a tree. her heart jumped in the throat. Someone was lying under the tree, but she could not tell who or what it was. She just hoped it was not someone who was chasing her. Holding her breath, she took one slow step, and another till she was up to the back of the tree, and slowly inched her way around it till she could see to the other side to see what was there.
At the sight her throat closed around a scream. What she found was a demon laying under the tree, his long silver hair sprawled out around his head, his eyes closed, his chest rising and falling in slow movements that indicated he was asleep, or so she hoped. To his side laid two swords, as well as a pieces of stone or metal armor. His white clothing was spotted red with blood, his left side seemed to be the worst. Dark red and black in color, in what appeared to be dried blood. he must have been greatly injured as the bottom of the top was almost completely covered in dried blood. She gasped at this thought, the simple thought of 'poor man' ran through her mind for a split moment, before she realized that he could be a danger to her, and the thought was gone. Taking one step back she froze when she heard a stick snap in the woods behind her, she gasped aloud and turned to face that direction, looking for the source as she backed up, one step at a time, till she stumbled over the root of the tree and landed backwards.
She squeaked in fear when she realized she had landed near the demon and his eyes where open and glaring at her. "Sor..Sorry!" She squeaked out getting up, and backing away. "Please don't hurt me!" She bowed, and froze to afraid to go backwards, for those who where chasing her, and to afraid to go forward where the demo blocked her path.
"Go." Was the only simple thing she heard from the demon as he glared her down. She gulped. "You... You will not harm me?" She asked slightly curious, though more outta fear. The demons only response was to close his eyes once more. Taking a moment to see what happened, she inched her way slowly past the demon, keeping her eyes on him and far enough out of reach. When she reached the other side of the clearing she darted into the forest and ran once more like she was before. The only thing on her mind was finding a safe, outta of sight, hiding spot.
