Chapter nine
Kagome woke with a start, her heart racing in her chest. She sat up quickly, only to wince as sharp pain shot up her left side, and straight to her head, making everything go black around her once again. The second time Kagome woke it was only for a short time of tossing and turning, only to calm moments after into another world of slumber. This time she dreamt, she felt as if she was floating on a cloud, as the dream turned into a night mare. What was once a simple dream of her laying in a pool on a hot summer day, enjoying the bright sun above her. With her family and friends and the other people who lived in her town around her. turned into a burning terror, as the sun begun to get to to warm, the water started to become to hot, it felt like her skin was burning from the hot sun and the hot water around her, and no matter which way she swam she could not escape the never ending agonizing heat, she struggled and struggled to swim away, but became to tired as her arms first gave out and she had to rely on her legs to keep her afloat and even those gave out on her as the water became nearly unbearable temperature and she began to sink, to tired and to hot to swim any more. No matter how little or how much she struggled she kept sinking and sinking, taking more and more water into her mouth and lungs till she could no longer breath, and her world begun to turn black.
Kagome woke again, this time sitting up, ignoring the pain as she was hacking and coughing up what ever liquid that was in her mouth and throat. She looked around her wearily and into the dim lighting of the setting sun. Sango sat next to her with a worried look upon her face, in front of her sat shippo, in his hand was a small cup, and his shirt seemed to be soaked with what ever was in it. "..ome.. You need to drink the water, or the fever wont go away." Shippo was saying, though it took a few minutes before she even realized he was talking. She blinked confused, then took the now newly filled cup shippo gave her, and drank it quickly. Only to have Sango lay her back down once more, the water seemed to clear her head, but her body still felt to oddly warm under the blanket she was under... wait.. Blanket..Sango? She looked around her. Trees, and a fire? This is not where she remembered she had last been, she looked to Shippo with a fearful look. "Shippo!? What happened? How are we out here? Where is here?" She glanced to Sango. "How did you get here, too?"
Shippo and Sango looked to each other, and gave a nod in silent understanding. "After the jewel split.." Shippo started. "You passed out, you where gravely injured, and would not stop bleeding. Inuyasha tried going after the strange man in the purple smoke, but could not reach him. The man in the purple smoke was gravely injured as well, but still very strong. He tried killing off you and Master Inuyasha, Lord Sesshomaru and Yuliana, but Lord Sesshomaru put up a strong fight, though he too got gravely hurt, before the man finally ran away." He paused, as if trying to find the right words to say. "After he fled, it's really hard to say what happened. Some how the wall kind of jut crumbled and fell away, and outside the wall was Sango and her troops, your troops of men. They came towards us swords ready to fight. By then Lord Sesshomaru was gone, Master Inuyasha was trying to figure out what to do, but was attacked and ran. Yuliana was still unconscious, so they thought her dead and left her alone. I.." Shippo frowned. "I tired explaining to them that i meant no harm, but they tied me up and threw into the back of a wagon, and Sango took you off somewhere." Shippo frowned then looked to Sango.
"When we realized the castle had been attacked, I set out to find you with a group of others." Sango begun, knowing Kagome wanted to know everything, the hows and whys clear in her eyes. "It took at least three days till we found a sign of a wall surrounding something, it was to tall for us to get over it, but we tried our best. We only camp there for a day before we heard the fighting start. It was a surprise when the wall dropped and the demons where there. We did scare most of them off.." she looked to shippo then. "Sorry for being so rude to you earlier." Shippo nodded "It's okay" he perked up a little.
"Anyways. After we found you passed out, got the story from Shippo, we set him free to come help heal you and take care of you." Sango finished.
"Where is here? How long have we been here?" Kagome asked, wincing when she moved to get more comfortable which seemed to be a problem, as the pain and warmth where hard to ignore, as sleep made her eyes begin to droop.
"A camp site on the outskirts of our lands. you where to injured to move any farther, and you broke into really bad fevers. We also been here at least four... or five days?" Sango said with a shrug as if the matter of time was no priority that she had to keep track of. Kagome sighed. "Sorry for keeping you guys back" she said softly on a verge of sleep.
"Its no problem, your health comes first!" Shippo chimed in making Kagome smile. As she drifted off, a thought rang in her sleepy mind. "Where is the ca.." she paused.. "Yuliana.. What happened to her?" Kagome asked through half open eyes, enough so that she did not miss the look of fear and sorrow pass through his eyes. "I'm not sure.." Shippo frowned.
"Yuliana?" Sango asked. "The canine that was there, with us. She was hurt too." Shippo explained sadly. "Oh yea.. She was there when we arrived, we thought her dead, so we left alone, but when Shippo was freed and demanded that we go find her, we went to look and she was gone. She left a trail of blood, but we couldn't find anything." Sango trailed off, as she stood saying "I'll get more water," and walked off.
"I'm so sorry Shippo.." Kagome yawned. "I have a feeling she is okay. She is healing and we will see her again." She smiled sleepy when she noted hope appear in his eyes, as he sat near her head and played gently with her long hair. "Thank you, Kagome. Please get rest." With that Kagome was once again
