A Fat Chance Of Victory Part 4

What was he going to do? Jason glanced down at his stomach which now seemed larger than it was five minutes ago. In five more minutes, it would expand again and who knew how bad it would be in an hour? He'd be worse than Blubba!

Even worse . . . Jason looked up at the giant computer screen. It had turned out that Blubba had just taken over the four Zords that were toweing against their now helpless owners.

Slumping down onto a seat, Jason sighed. Eve if he could work out, either the weight loss would take ages or not work. And he didn't have a time for that.

"What AM I gonna do?"

At that moment, Dr. Sparks came out of the room, carrying Jason's Green Energy Morpher. "Jason, I-" He froze when he spotted Jason's sudden weight gain. "Can't find a solution to your Energy Morpher's malfunction . . ."

Jason blushed scarlet and clutched his stomach. "Dude, believe me, this isn't what it looks like!"

The scientist gaped at him for a second then handed the morpher. "I don't need to ask," he murmured. "I'll see if I can work on an antidote."

With that, Dr. Sparks quickly turned back into his lab, leaving Jason by himself again. Jason sighed again and glanced down at his morpher then back up at the computer screen where Blubba began to make the four Energy Zords destroy a building.

"Looks like I can't help you guys."

"Looks can be decieving, Jason."

The green ranger nearly dropped his morpher as soon as it spoke to him. He stared at it in horror, not sure how to react.

"Do I know you?"

"Not yet. But you will. For now you need to meet and help your teammates. They seriously need your help."

Jason froze and glanced down at his stomach that had grown bigger again and was now causing his jumper to snap. "I would . . . but I can't come up to them looking like this! I'll look-" He paused. "Oh yeah. You just said . . ."

"Exactly. You need to prove to them that you can push yourself when the time is right," his morpher replied. "If you can push yourself to the limits, then your strength power may just be enough to release a new energy power."

That caught Jason's attention. He sat up, never taking his eyes off his Green Energy Morpher. "What? What do I have to do? How exactly do I have to push myself?"

Silence . . .

"Hello?"

No response.

Jason stared at his morpher, more confused than ever. He just sat there, thinking the advice over in his muddled up mind.

Then he realised.

Not only would he have to push himself physically but he would have to push himself in order to overcome his frequent laziness.

It all made sense now!

Callum had overcome his fear of Paine's power and earned his Red Energy Laser Boost.

Zoe had learned to step back as a team player, earning her the Blue Energy Chill Attack and Ice Blast.

Olivia had proven herself to be just as strong as her fellow teammates, earning her the Pink Energy Air Twister.

Alex had learned to become less overprotective of his sister, earning him the Yellow Energy Enforce Strike.

And now Jason would have to learn to push himself to the limits to earn himself his new energy power!

Clutching his morpher tightly, Jason stood up and smirked slightly. "Hang on guys. I'm coming."

"If we EVER come across any other monster again, then not only will it be too soon but there won't be a 'we' to fight them!" Zoe groaned, watching on as the Blade Skater tore down a building with it's bladed arms.

"What do you mean?" Callum stared at her.

The Blue Energy Ranger groaned. "This is why I work alone! You guys have been doing nothing but holding me back throughout this journey!"

"What? Zoe, YOU'RE the one who caused this!" exclaimed Olivia, staring at her.

"I was frustrated okay!" Zoe snapped. She stepped up. "No thanks to YOU!" Groaning again, she held out her arms. "Just because Blubba took over our Zords, it doesn't mean we can't fight them! Blue Energy Ice Blast!"

She shot the icy air from her hands, up to her own Zord. The icy air blasted her arm but didn't effect it. In fact the Zord didn't even notice the blast. But the Bullet Dasher spotted Zoe striking the Blade Skater and threw a punch towards the blue ranger. Zoe growled and prepared to slash his fist with her Ice Blade but Callum shoved her out of the way and away from the Bullet Dasher's fist, knocking the red and blue rangers over in the progress.

"What the heck was that for?" Zoe yelled angrily, jumping to her feet.

"What were you thinking?!" Callum replied, climbing up too. "That fist could have flattened you!"

Zoe held up her Ice Blade. "Didn't you see I had my sword ready?"

"That thing's just a splinter to the Zords!" shouted Callum.

Zoe responded by smacking Callum's head, harder than usual because he had his helmet on.

"Thing?! I'll give you a THINK to think about!" The Blue Energy Ranger raised her sword and things probably would have gotten nasty if Olivia hadn't interrupted them.

"Guys, seriously! We need to think about THAT situation!" she cried, pointing up at Blubba who was dissolving a large sign with acid from his warts.

"Livvy's right!" Alex agreed. "Without our Zords, we're going have to plan this attack scheme out carefully before Blubba destroys the city. And if he destroys THIS city, who knows where he'll go next? With our Zords!"

"I've got an idea!" said the Pink Energy Ranger, pulling out her Energy Vault. "Try to work something out!" With that, she used her pole to leap into the air and land on the arm of the Tumble Glider who didn't notice her commander beginning to work her way up her arm and onto her shoulder while the others watched on.

"Livvy! What are you doing!" Alex called out, worried for the safety of his sister.

"I get it!" said Callum.

The Yellow Energy Ranger gave Callum a look. "What is it?"

"She's going to try and get INSIDE the Tumble Glider and see if she can control it from there," explained Callum.

Behind his helmet, Alex raised his eyebrows. "Ohhh! Clever!"

"Your sister's smart like that," said Zoe. "Now all we need to do is find a way to get inside our Zords too! Olivia had her Energy Vault to give her a lift. We didn't!"

"And I can't use my Red Energy Laser Boost. The Zords would notice," said Callum. "But maybe the three of us would combine our Energy Powers to attack Blubba. It's worth a shot."

Alex nodded. "Right."

The Red and Yellow Energy Rangers glanced at the Blue Energy Ranger. Zoe frowned and then sighed. "Fine. Let's do it."

"Laser Boost!"

"Chill Attack!"

"Enforce Strike!"

Alex shot out a beam of yellow energy and shaped it into the shape of a puc. Zoe shot icy air from her hands which began to swirl around the puc. Callum shot red lasers from his hands that zapped around the puc like lightning.

"Looks good!" he grinned. "FIRE!"

The three remaining Rangers thrust out their hands and the energy puc shot out and into Blubba's face before he could react. The explosion caused him to yelp and stagger backwards.

"It worked!" exclaimed Zoe, surprised.

"Let's try it again!" suggested Alex.

But before they could charge up more energy, Blubba roared and shot slime from a wart. This slime was orange and it covered the three Rangers completely, causing their costumes to spark.

"What did he do?" asked Alex, staring at his hands in horror.

"I don't believe it," Zoe muttered. "HE DEACTIVATED OUR ENERGY POWERS!"

Callum said nothing but glanced up at Blubba, feeling rather helpless. Blubba laughed and stomped towards the the three Rangers who backed away uneasily.

Meanwhile, Olivia had found a way to get inside the Tumble Glider and was now commanding the Zord to charge towards Blubba, leap into the air, flip over and pummel her feet into Blubba before he could harm them. Blubba yelped and stumbled backwards again before staring in horror at the Tumble Glider who landed gracefully onto her fear.

"How did you-"

"It's the INSIDE that counts sometimes!" Olivia grinned inside the Zord. "Take THIS! Cartwheel Attack!"

Like it's name, the Tumble Glider began to perform a cartwheel, but unlike normal cartwheels, the Tumble Glider didn't stop spinning. In fact it became almost like a pink wheel that glided towards Blubba and began striking him multiple times with her hands and feet.

"OWWOO!" Sparks flew from Blubba's costume and he fell to his knees as the Tumble Glider stopped spinning.

"Had enough?" taunted Olivia.

Blubba groaned, climbing to his feet before chuckling mischievously. Olivia stared at him, wondering what was up. But by the time she realised, it was too late.

The Bullet Dasher, Blade Skater and Fisticuff Knight grabbed hold of the Tumble Glider and began to shake her violently. Olivia screamed and stumbled as she was thrown around helplessly inside.

"Livvy! Get outta there!" Alex yelled from the ground.

"Right!" Olivia cried. Stumbling to her feet, trying not to get thrown around, she threw herself out of the cockpit and out onto the Tumble Glider's shoulder. Seeing this, the Fisticuff Knight made a grab for the Pink Energy Ranger who quickly jumped off without a moment's hesitation.

"ENERGY VAULT!"

Just in time, Olivia pulled out her pole and used it to soften her landing as her three teammates ran up to her.

"You okay?" Alex asked, obviously concerned.

Olivia nodded. "Yeah," she panted. "But remind me never to try THAT again!"

"You don't need to ask me twice," replied Alex.

"Forget that! Now what?! We're completely powerless!" shrieked Zoe.

They watched on as the Bullet Dasher, Blade Skater and Fisticuff Knight continued to shake the now helpless Tumble Glider around while Blubba watched on in delight, eyeing the Rangers, preparing to lash out.

"Hey guys! What did I miss?"

The four Rangers jumped when they heard Jason's voice. They got an even bigger shock when they caught sight of the extra pounds that he had gained in the last half hour. His stomach was now sticking out of his jumper and his belt had fallen off.

For a moment there was a very awkward silence. Even Blubba stopped to stare at Jason . . . before letting out a roar of laughter, making Jason blush scarlet.

"What happened to you?" Zoe stared at her teammate.

Olivia sighed and ran up to Jason. "I thought so. It's the slime!" She examined Jason closely. "And it's getting worse! Didn't Dr. Sparks make an antidote for you?"

"Yeah but . . . but . . ." Jason looked up. "Is he gonna make it in TIME?!"

Olivia thought for a moment. "That is true." She looked up. "We don't have-"

She was interrupted when the Tumble Glider lost her balance and toppled over in Jason and Olivia's direction. Without thinking, the Pink Energy Ranger cartwheeled out of the way, leaving Jason standng in the way of the falling Zord.

"Oh no!" Olivia cried, realising what she had just happened. She jumped to her feet and attempted to run towards the green ranger but Alex caught her by the arms and yanked her back, just as Jason held up his hands at the Tumble Glider . . .

CRASH!

"JASOOOOON!" screamed Olivia as the Zord landed hard on top of Jason. Alex had to hold onto her tight to keep her from escaping.

"Get back! It's too dangerous!"

Olivia didn't reply, just stared in horror at the fallen Zord that covered Jason completely. The air was filled with a dark silence. Even Zoe couldn't open her mouth to say something offensive.

The silence was suddenly broken by a rustling sound.

Then the Tumble Glider shifted slightly.

Next thing, her upper body began to rise . . .

And Jason appeared underneath the Zord, pushing it upright.

"Jason!" Olivia didn't know whether to feel relieved or not. "Get outta there!"

"No!" Jason grunted. "I gotta get upright!"

"Didn't you hear her?" yelled Zoe. "GET OUT!"

Jason ignored her and continued to push the exteremly heavy Zord upwards. "I . . . *gasp* . . . need to push myself if I'm gonna . . . *wheeze* help you guys!"

"I'm not gonna let that happen!" yelled Blubba, shooting yet more slime at the Zord. This slime caused the Tumble Glider to spark, most of the electricity shocking Jason in the progress. But he still continued to push the Tumble Glider upwards. The Zord was now in a sitting position but that wasn't the only thing Jason was pushing.

As he continued to push the Tumble Glider upwards, his large stomach began glowing bluish-purple and with every inch he pushed the Tumble Glider upwards, the more fat began to disappear from Jason's stomach.

"NO!" Blubba screeched, shooting more of the electrical slime at the Tumble Glider. But Olivia leapt in the way and knocked it away with her Energy Vault before turning around.

"Keep going, Jason! It's reversing the effect of the slime!" she cheered.

Jason nodded and, biting his lip, gave the Tumble Glider one last huge shove. It was enough to sent the Zord almost flipping over. Fortunately, she was able to land neatly on her feet. Panting hard, Jason looked down at himself as his stomach gave one last flash before it reduced back to it's normal size.

"Whoa!" Callum exclaimed as he, Zoe, Alex and Olivia ran up to their teammate. "Nice going!"

"It's just like Dr. Sparks said. I simply had to push myself," Jason grinned. "Or at least push myself to keep Olivia's Zord from getting smashed to pieces," he added, giving Olivia a slightly flirty look.

The Pink Energy Ranger smirked behind her helmet and playfully smacked Jason on the shoulder. "Thanks for saving the Tumble Glider, Jason. And it's nice to see you back in shape too."

"Any time."

Jason's Green Energy Morpher suddenly bleeped. He took it out of his pocket only to see it was glowing violently.

"Whoa! What's going on?"

"You've got a new energy power!" said Callum. "Wait, that must mean that you've got your Ranger powers back too!"

Jason's grin grew wider. "Well it's about time!" He looked up at the horrified Blubba. "Time to get rid of this unecessary weight monster once and for all!"

"I'm with you!" Olivia beamed.

"Let's do it!" cheered Alex.

Jason nodded and stepped forwards, holding out his Green Energy Morpher. "Alright, here goes something! Sports Energy, Suit Up!"

As Jason morphed into the Green Energy Ranger, Blubba laughed.

"So what if you DO have a new power? I still have tons of deadly slime left in me ready to strike!"

"Well good luck hitting me!" Jason replied cockiy. "Time to test out this new Energy Power. Green Energy Rack Attack!"

With that, the Green Energy Ranger became surrounded by fiery green energy that slowly charged around him. Blubba stepped back, not sure how to react. Even the other four Rangers stepped back, knowing this was going to get interesting.

Even if Blubba could react, it would have been too late. Jason shot up towards him like a bullet before bouncing off his face like a tennis ball. He then did the same with the Bullet Dasher and then the Blade Skater, next the Fisticuff Knight and back to Blubba . . . It was like the way a tennis ball would bounch in different directions only much faster and much more powerful.

Sparks and slime shot out from both Blubba and Zords. Slowly but sureley, the Zords stopped causing havoc in the city. As Blubba fell to his knees, Jason landed in front of his teammates on two feet.

"That was amazing!" Olivia beamed.

Jason smirked. "It was nothing. Now lets get our Zords back!"

"Right," the others replied.

"Zord Energy Unleash!"

The Green Energy Ranger turned into the Overspin Striker while the Red, Blue, Pink and Yellow Energy Rangers disappeared. Their Zords flashed as their minds took over.

"Now this is more like it!" the Blade Skater said as they were turned back to their Zords.

"It'll get better if we use the MegaZord!" the Overspin Striker replied.

"Alright then," said the Bullet Dasher. "Let's do it! MegaZord Formation NOW!"

The Overspin Striker shifted into the legs of the MegaZord, the Tumble Glider and Fistucuff Knight formed the right and left arms, the Bullet Dasher morphed into the torso and the Blade Skater created armour for the MegaZord. As the pieces clicked together, the remaining pieces of the Zords changed into the Energy Rangers who jumped inside.

"Need a few extra pounds?" Blubba taunted, charging at the MegaZord.

"How about you lose some?" Jason answered back, making the MegaZord leap over Blubba and land behind him causing Blubba to lose his footing and stumble over.

"Let's see if your can carry THIS weight on your shoulders!" Olivia shouted, placing her Pink Energy Morpher into a slot infront of her. A new weapon appeared in the MegaZord's hands.

"Hammer Ball Mace!"

The MegaZord held up the huge hammer and chain as Blubba stumbled to his feet. As he turned around, spikes appeared from the hammer ball, turning it into a mace. The MegaZord began to swing the hammer around. As Blubba roared and charged, the MegaZord swung the hammer mace into his stomach, causing him to stumble backwards again, more sparks flying out of him.

"Do you realise how long it took me to gain this?" he yelled, clutching his huge stomach.

"Well it won't be like that for much longer!" said Jason. He placed his Green Energy morpher into the slot in front of him. "Spinning Ring of Fire!"

The MegaZord responded by beginning to run around the fallen Blubba who realised what was happening.

"Wait! You already did this to me!"

"That was just the warm up!" said Callum as the MegaZord picked up the pace, fire beginning to spark around Blubba. "Now THIS is the real workout!"

"And the last of you!" added Zoe as the fire grew stronger before it finally struck Blubba in all directions, much stronger than Callum's attack than earlier.

"NOOOOO! I CAN'T TAKE IT!"

"Then how about this!" Jason grinned. "Mega Energy Blaster!"

The giant laser gun appeared in the MegaZord's hands. It pointed it in Blubba's direction, leaving him in quite a helpless position.

"FIRE!" Jason yelled.

The MegaZord pulled the trigger and the beams of red, blue, pink, yellow and green shot out of the gun and into Blubba. They exploded into him and he began to collapse, screaming in pain.

"AND THIS IS WHY I NEVER LIKED DIETS!"

Finally Blubba landed hard on his back and bursted into flames. The MegaZord nodded and turned his back on the fire.

With Blubba defeated, the Rangers finally had some breathing space. Well . . . most of them. Some of the Rangers had more "important" things on their mind.

Jason took a deep breath and stepped into the training room where Olivia was practicing her gymnastics.

"Hey . . . Li- Olivia?"

Olivia landed neatly on her two feet and turned to the green ranger. "Yeah, Jason?" she smiled.

Jason blushed a little. "About earlier . . . thanks for pointing out the whole weight thing and that."

"No problem," Olivia replied, lowering her eyebrows a little which caused Jason to blush a little more.

"Sorry. It's just that I really feel I owe you one, ya know?" he murmured.

"You saved the Tumble Glider. Isn't that enough?" asked Olivia, frowning slightly.

Jason shook his head. "No, that was for all of us. If I hadn't saved the Tumble Glider, I wouldn't have pushed myself and broken Blubba's slime spell."

"Oh . . ." Olivia relaxed a little. "Okay then. So what were you going to do?"

Jason inhaled deeply again. "Well I- I was wondering . . . maybe I could take you out, to the movies or some nice restaraunt or something . . . y- you know like a da-"

"Whoa! Time out," Olivia interrupted. She sighed and gave Jason a look. "Jason, I think you're a great guy but I think this whole 'date' thing is a little sudden. We've only been teammates for about a month now and considering how unpredictable Paine is . . . I still like you but I think we need to slow down a little. I think weshould just be friends . . . for now. You okay with that?"

Jason raised his eyebrows. "Wow . . . I was expecting a much worse reaction like that!"

Olivia laughed. "So you're cool?"

"Yeah I'm cool!" smiled Jason. "As long as we can take things a little more slow, I'm cool with it!"

The pink ranger beamed. "We can still go out you know. What about the pool?"

"That would be perfect . . ."

Dr. Sparks sat quietly in his lab, checking to see if no one was looking. Then he looked up.

"They've overcome their weaknesses, Finian. What must they do now?"

"They must find me, Gavin. The stronger they get, the more determined Paine gets and he will get just as strong, maybe stronger than your Rangers. They'll need more energy power than they do now."

"More?" Dr. Sparks exclaimed. "What do you mean? Even I don't know what you're talking about."

"You will all understand . . . eventually. It's not just in power, it's in spirit and teamwork too. Don't worry, Gavin. It'll all piece together."

Dr. Sparks sighed. "Hopefully."

"Hey Livvy! Check this out!"

Jason sprinted up to the edge of the pool and front flipped in. Olivia laughed and dived in after him. The two Rangers had the pool to themselves so they weren't afraid to do what they wanted . . . as long as they were allowed of course.

As the two of them resurfaced, Jason looked up at the seven metre diving board and grinned. "Watch this!"

He climbed out of the pool and made his way to the ladder while Olivia watched him, smirking slightly. As Jason made it to the top of the diving board he gulped slightly.

"Alright . . . Olivia Flinstone, I am about to show you the greatest dive you have ever seen . . . Performed by *gulp* Jason Nadal." He looked down from the large height.

Olivia giggled. "What are you waiting for?"

Jason bit his lip. "N- nothing. Um . . ."

As he looked down, Olivia smirked and climbed out of the pool, making her way over the diving board ladder. But Jason was too uneasy to notice this.

"Okay . . . I can do this . . ." he scrunched up his eyes.

"ARGH! IT'S SO HIGH!"

"BOO!"

Olivia grabbed Jason's shoulders, making him scream and jump. He whipped around, shaking a little. "You scared me!"

"I thought you were scared enough up on this diving board!"

"I- I wasn't scared!" Jason lied.

Olivia rolled her eyes. "Sure you weren't," she teased before diving off the board without a moment's hesitation.

"I wasn't scared!" shouted Jason as she performed a triple front flip before diving into the water in a perfect position.

Then he jumped off too . . . screaming like a girl as he did so.

The Green and Pink Rangers spent the next hour messing around in the pool.

Both of them had a great day.

Until Alex found out.
