Okay I'm not gonna say too much cause I know that I can have MAJOR gaps between my updates. But I can guarantee that this update will be worth the long wait!

It's time to introduce Extreme Sports Mode and get it done with!

Chapter 26

Step Into The Extremes Part 2

The Vantrymans continued to shoot mercilessly at the Energy Rangers, knocking one down every time they got up. At this rate, the pain was becoming too much and their bodies were becoming too weak to support them. Finally with one blast, the Vantrymans struck altogether, causing one massive explosion, so massive it sent the Energy Rangers flying backwards and crashing down to the point where they could no longer move. They lay there helplessly as the Vantrymans crawled towards them. They were so sore and weak that none of them could hardly move.

"There closing in on us!" Callum exclaimed.

"You think we don't know that?" Zoe snapped, struggling furiously to get up without prevail.

"Guys, something tells me that this isn't the right time to argue!" groaned Jason as the Vantrymans got closer and closer.

Callum scrunched up his eyes. His arm felt like it weighed a ton. With this much pain, he was surprised none of them had demorphed. The Vantrymans were standing right over them now, pretty much like giants about to squash a beetle. One cocked its head and made a snarling noise.

Olivia winced. "Um . . . I think that's his way of asking 'Any last words?' If so . . ." She scrunched up her eyes too and muttered "Mom, I've always wanted to see what you look like so I guess now's the time! Hopefully Rachel will understand!"

"Yeah and we'll be sure to keep a good eye on her even though she was REALLY annoying!" Alex added painfully.

"Well at least we can still be a team!" Jason laughed uneasily. "Right?"

Zoe growled and tried to get up again but her body wouldn't let her. "This isn't fair! I never meant to go like this, overpowered by foot soldiers, stuck with the worst team ever!" Despite her pain, she managed to smack the ground with her fist.

"It's okay Zoe," Callum replied. Something about his tone caused the blue ranger's face to relax and turn towards his. "We tried. We fought to the end."

The Vantrymans nodded at each other. Five stepped forward, one for a Ranger each and held out their blasters.

"Zoe . . ." Even with his helmet on, Callum still glanced away from her, sweating heavily. "If this is it then I might as well say it!"

Zoe's eyes widened as he realized what he was going to say . . .

Callum took a deep breath. "Zoe, I've always really had fe-"

BOOM!

Just as the Vantrymans fired, the five Energy Morphers suddenly appeared out of nowhere, beaming with energy power so strong that it negated the Vantryman's blast attack and shot it right back at them, knocking them down to the ground like the Energy Rangers. The energy power didn't stop beaming however, most of it beginning to surround their respected Ranger.

"What's going on?" asked Jason.

"Our Energy Morphers . . . They just saved us! And now they're healing us too!" explained Olivia as they began to glow with the energy.

"You're right! I no longer feel weak!" grinned Alex. "My pain's going away!"

"Me too!" said Jason. "I actually feel STRONG!" he added with a laugh.

Slowly, the Rangers began to climb to their feet, still glowing much to the the horror of the Vantrymans who backed away in fear. The Energy Morphers were still glowing violently, all the energy fading away from the Rangers, dropping into their hands.

"Guys . . ." A wide smile spread across Callum's face. "I think we're ready to use Extreme Sports Mode!"

The others glanced at him then at their morphers in excitement.

"Well what are we waiting for?" Zoe laughed. "Let's do it then! I wanna see how 'extreme' this power can get!"

"Alright, no more nice Rangers!" the Red Energy Ranger said in a determined tone. "Time to wipe out these foot soldiers once and for all!"

The five Energy Rangers stood into position, holding their Energy Morphers tightly. The Vantrymans stood their ground, not sure what to do.

"Let's do it!" shouted Callum.

"RIGHT!" the others replied.

The Energy Rangers held out their glowing Energy Morphers and chanted out together: "Extreme Sports Mode!"

The Energy Morphers almost exploded with power but in a good way. Next thing they disappeared in the Rangers' hands and the energy power began to swirl around them. The Rangers stood their ground as the energy continued to spin and even strike them in their chests, arms and legs. It then flashed brightly, forming silver armor for the Rangers with lining of their color. A lightning bolt of their color appeared on their silver back protectors with their number at the back. But the energy wasn't finished upgrading yet- the final remains of it formed into an Extreme Energy Rifle, one for each Ranger. They caught theirs and grinned to themselves.

"Whoa! It actually worked!" giggled Olivia, staring at her rifle in awe.

"I am liking this new mode!" laughed Jason, admiring at his silver armor.

"Am I the only one who feels this really strong power surge bursting through me?" asked Alex.

"Nope!" Callum answered happily. "I feel it too!"

"And me!" Olivia added.

Zoe put on a confident and determined smile. "This is just what we need. Let's do it!"

The Extreme Energy Rangers nodded and sprung into action. The Vantrymans blasted at them but the Rangers ignored the explosion that occurred behind them and began to fight big.

Callum flipped into the Vantrymans and swung his foot up, knocking one to the ground. He dodged another Vantryman's attack and tried to kick another Vantryman but this one grabbed his ankle and held on tight. Callum just grinned at this and the Vantryman soon found out why- his boots suddenly caught fire, burning everything except himself. The Vantryman let out a squeal and let go of his foot, allowing Callum to swing it around, creating a ring of fire and striking any Vantryman that got close to it.

The Extreme Energy Red Ranger then sprinted his way through the Vantrymans, much faster than usual, thanks to his new powers, incinerating any Vantryman that touched him. Despite the speed he was running in, he was able to skid to a perfect halt, like brakes on a motorcycle.

"Time to see what this baby can do!" he grinned, charging up his Extreme Energy Rifle. "FIRE!"

A small but powerful flaming tyre shot out of his rifle and began to strike Vantrymans, bouncing off one to strike another one. Sparks and flames shot out of them and they collapsed to the ground.

The Extreme Energy Blue Ranger jumped up and whammed her feet against the stomach of a Vantryman, using it as a springboard to backflip over and onto the lake. Thanks to her powers, she simple landed on it like it was solid ground, without getting a drop wet.

"Come get me boys!" she yelled, sprinting across the lake without a bother as the Vantrymans ran over to the side of the lake but not into the water. Not finished yet, they fired at Zoe who used her new powers to dive down under the water. The Vantrymans backed away, not sure whether to run in after her or not. Just as they stepped forward, Zoe shot out like a rocket, perfectly dry.

"Extreme Energy Rifle- FIRE!"

Her rifle shot out blue liquid at the Vantrymans, soaking all of them. At first both of them make laughing noises since it hadn't harmed them- yet.

The liquid was actually liquid nitrogen and it didn't take long for them to freeze completely. And one final blast from Zoe's Extreme Energy Rifle was enough to smash them into smithereens.

"Extreme Energy Rifle- FIRE!"

The Extreme Energy Pink Ranger wasted no time in striking the Vantrymans with her rifle beam. This beam shot out like a laser streak and began to flash back and forth, striking the Vantrymans like a ninja. Olivia grinned and attached her rifle to her belt. "Bring it on!"

The Vantrymans charged at her but Olivia's reflexes were too quick and she blocked off their attacks one by one. A Vantryman tried to grab her from behind but Olivia's powers allowed her to sense this attack and grab it's wrist without bothering to turn around. Before the Vantryman could react she then whipped around and began to combat punch it in the stomach at a lightning pace. Olivia finally finished it off by giving it one belt of a kick that exploded pink energy into it and sent it flying back.

The Extreme Energy Yellow Ranger swung his rifle around, knocking Vantymans in his path. A fallen Vantryman tried to swipe him from underneath but Alex leapt into the air, backflipping super fast. If it weren't for his new powers, he would have crashed into the tree behind him that he simply phased through like a cloud.

"Extreme Energy Rifle- FIRE!"

Alex's beam was like an explosion, it was so powerful. The gust of yellow energy sent the Vantrymans flying back helplessly, some crashing into trees, other falling into the lake.

The Extreme Energy Green Ranger tumbled through the Vantrymans and grinned mischievously before pressing himself against a tree and camouflaging himself to fit in with it. The Vantrymans sprinted past him and exchanged confused glances, wondering where he'd gone.

"Surprise!"

Jason leapt into the air and flipped over the Vantrymans who were too surprised to react in time. The green ranger cheered as he landed neatly in front of them.

"Extreme Energy Rifle- FIRE!"

His rifle splatted the Vantrymans with green blobs, like paintballs- only these ones were much more painful and sparked the second they struck their target.

Jason laughed and rushed to join his teammates as they gathered together. "I LOVE THIS!"

"I know, right!" Alex agreed. "These powers feel incredible!"

Olivia looked up. "Aaaand, they're back up again!"

She was right. The Vantrymans weren't quite finished yet and were charging at them at full speed.

"Oh great!" Zoe groaned. "Don't these guys know how to quit?"

"Hey guys, look!"

Everyone glanced at Callum. He was examining their Extreme Energy Rifles very closely.

"These look like they might fit together! Like our signature weapons! I bet if we combined our rifles to make one big rifle, it might finish off these Vantrymans for good!"

"Ohhh, now you're talking!" Jason laughed. "Let's do it!"

"Right!" the others nodded.

Alex and Jason attached their rifles together. Zoe and Olivia attached their rifles together and attached them to the front of Alex and Jason's. Callum finally attached his Extreme Energy Rifle to the front of the massive new weapon.

"It worked!" he gasped happily. "It actually worked!"

"Extreme Energy Sports Striker!" the Rangers chanted as Callum, Zoe and Olivia took hold of the back of the weapon while Alex and Jason knelt down to support the front.

The Vantrymans were still charging . . .

"FIRE!" the Extreme Energy Red Ranger yelled, pulling the trigger.

The Extreme Energy Sports Striker began to charge up, one rifle by one before reaching Callum's. A colorful energy beam bolted out, shooting towards the Vantrymans, exploding into all of them before they could even flinch. They sparked violently and began to collapse.

The Extreme Energy Rangers stood up, Callum holding the Extreme Energy Sports Striker tight and turned their backs on the foot soldiers as they finally exploded.

They were gone for good.

The Energy Rangers exchanged excited glances.

"WE DID IT!" Jason cheered as he and Alex jumped up and chest bumped each other whooping like crazy men, making Olivia laugh. Zoe folded her arms but couldn't help but smirk. Callum sighed happily and glanced up- when suddenly something caught his attention.

A black and purple monster was standing on the hill above them. He had just seen the entire thing.

Callum backed away, not sure what to do. But the monster just scoffed and sauntered away.

"Callum? You okay?"

Zoe placed a concerned hand on his shoulder, wondering what was distracting him. He looked down quickly and stuttered even quicker "Y- yeah, I'm fine! I just thought I saw something."

"Right . . ." Zoe pulled her hand away from his shoulder and glanced away from him. "So . . . um . . . what were you gonna say to me earlier?"

"Huh?"

"When we were about to get blasted by those Vantrymans, what were you about to say to me?" asked Zoe in an odd tone.

Callum froze. "Oh, that, um . . . Well I, um . . . I was gonna say that I had a feeling if they DID blast us, maybe Dr. Sparks would bring us back to life or something! Yeah, that's it!" he stuttered, laughing uneasily.

Zoe's face dropped behind her helmet. "Oh . . ."

"Yeah . . ." Callum murmured, just as the Olympian Warrior sprinted into the scene.

"Are you okay?"

"Never been better!" Jason shouted in joy.

Finian raised his eyebrows. "I see you've unlocked Extreme Sports Mode. Congratulations."

The teens grinned and clenched their fists happily, nudging each other with pride.

"Just one thing," said Callum, stepping forward. "That black and purple guy . . . Who was he?"

Finian gave him a look. "I believe his name is Vladimir. I fought him earlier. He seems extremely powerful. It's a good thing you've unlocked Extreme Sports Mode. We'll need it if we're going to defeat him and Paine. But for now, you need your rest after such an intense fight."

"Yeah, let's go," said Alex. "Rest comes first, right?"

Finian nodded. "Exactly."

With that the six Rangers began to head back to the lab, Zoe tagging behind. She waited until she was about a metre behind her teammates before letting out a huge sigh.

"Why, Callum?"

THERE! I DID IT!

And just to save you the trouble, I'll say it for you:

"CALLUM! YOU BLEW IT!"
