Why carry on without me

Party over, she was tired. Slowly making her way to her room, with her small boxes of treasure. She put them all away but the one box. She sat on her bed and opened the box and pulled out the sashes again.

She knew, she just knew it was a link. But who? Why? Why would they do this? Did someone have family who knew about her, about her past?

Tears formed in her eyes, God how she missed the all.

She ran down from her room outside to the well house with the sashed tucked against her chest.

"Inuyahsa!" She yelled

Tears flowed hard down her face in an uncontrollable river. She slipped down to the ground, there was no power here, it was gone, like them.

"Sango, Miroku" She sniffled, "Rin, Sesshomaru, Shippo" Maybe they could hear her?

After a good long cry, she made her way back up. She stood at the door and let them wind from a up and coming storm blow her tears away. She inhaled trying to get a grip.

She missed everything.

She looked down at them again, wishing that she knew, who, why. it was unfair, almost cruel.

Where they happy? Where they missing her? Tears formed again. Did they fall in love, have children, move on?

They were gone, maybe this all meant nothing?

"Kagome my girl, come inside," Her grandfather said coming to hold her shoulders. He helped her inside.

He stood afar but could still smell her tears, her sadness, she still missed them. He had not meant to make her cry, of course, he knew she would, but still, he hoped she wouldn't leave it to her to think of them right away.

As much as he wanted to let her know, now was not that time, not yet. He wasn't ready, she wasn't ready.

He had kept away till now, he wanted her to finish her schooling. Life had been cruel, life would be cruel and even though time changes all things, he was not ready to be known, no matter how it would make her feel.

She would be happy for a moment anyways when she found out.

He inhaled, her tears faded, but her sadness still came in waves. She was still a mess, older and more mature, but still a mess.

He never did feel her power, she had no use for it here.

It had been hard for him not to show up the very day she returned, but unlike her, he had much control, though now, it was slipping. He had many questions, but he knew he was not ready for hers. She may be angry to, no, she would be, he was prepared for that.

"Let's go" He said as he stepped back into his limo.

5oo years was a long time, even for him, he had waited this long, he would wait a bit longer.

Sleep came for neither of them, life that night seem to stand still. Time was not a friend of hers and it was a pain to him, but this night they both felt like they were floating. She ended up crying herself to sleep and he never blinked at eye as the morning sun rose high in the sky.

It was the longest night in both their lives, both greeted a new day, with thoughts of the past, wondering how one could live on, being so alone.

How did she carry on, why had he?
