"Can I take this blindfold off?" I asked, as I sat slouched in the backseat of my brother's car. "I look like a dumb ass. Besides, you'd get pulled over if you passed a cop car."
We had just finished a gig in Clovis. Dean met up with Dad's buddy Caleb, because of a series of deaths surrounding Clovis Avenue Sanitarium. I wasn't allowed on this hunt. Too dangerous, but mostly because I had been acting like a punk at school again.
"Why would that happen?" asked Dean.
I scoffed.
"Doi, you've got a kid wearing a blindfold in the backseat of your car" I replied.
Dean went quiet for a moment, before clearing his throat.
"It's important that you keep the blindfold on, where not that far away from our destination anyway" he said.
I sighed heavily.
"What are you planning?" I asked. "You've been acting weird with me for days."
Dean went quiet again.
"Have I done something wrong?" I questioned. "Besides that crap at school, which I've explained a hundred times."
I slouched back, my arms folded.
"It'll all be clear soon" answered Dean.
He's been planning something. I know he is. He's been on his phone a lot too. I hate being left in the dark about stuff.
"It's Disneyland isn't it?" I said.
"Nope," replied Dean. "I would think it's better than Disneyland."
Several moments went by, and I had to put up with Dean humming along to Led Zeppelin. The music suddenly stopped. The car stopped too.
"Oh no, did your old as hell cassette tape die?" I said, sarcastically. "About time. I don't have to listen to you trying to sing."
I then heard the door next to me open. The blindfold came away.
"Finally" I said, relieved.
A hand tapped me on the shoulder. I craned my head around and gasped.
"Surprise!"
It was Sam. Within seconds, I dived into his arms, with tears of happiness falling down my cheeks.
