Charming Is Not so Charming

Chapter Twenty Four: The Club's Next Move

The guys all filed out of chapel after the meeting and Juliet went to walk up to her brother but he followed Opie to the back. At this point, she just wanted to scream. No one was willing to listen to her and she was the one who had valuable information.

If no one was willing to listen, she was just going to deal with it herself.

She grabbed her purse at the bar and headed out the door. She drove to her house and immediately went to the kitchen table where her laptop was. She started googling all the hotels she could find in Charming and the surrounding areas. She started calling hotels and on the 8th one, a hotel in Morada, she was successful.

"Could you connect me to Carter Malone's room please?" She asked the receptionist.

"Yes, ma'am…he's in 1430…"

Before the line began to rang, she hung up. Using his real name was a dumb move, but then again Carter wasn't hiding. He wanted it known where he was. The door opened and Juice walked in looking completely exhausted.

"Hey." Juliet said closing her laptop and standing up to walk over to him. "Have you heard anything on Chibs?"

He kissed her cheek and shrugged off his cut.

"No."

"I'm going down to the hospital first thing in the morning."

He nodded and walked past her to the kitchen and pulled open the fridge door and immediately went for the beer.

"Why didn't you tell anyone you were leaving?"

"I…"

"Damnit, Jules." He said slamming the door and opening the top of his beer. "You can't leave without letting someone know where you're going. Zobelle tried to kill two of us today."

"So, Zobelle is behind this?"

He sighed knowing he just said something he shouldn't have.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone I was leaving." She said apologizing. "I'm still not used to informing someone of my every move. I know everything is crazy around here since the cigar king come to town."

He took a gulp of his beer, clearly tensed. Juliet hadn't seen him this way, not even when the club thought Opie was a rat a few months back.

"Are things ever going to calm down and get back to normal here in Charming?' She asked numb.

"We're working on it, Jules." He said putting the beer down on the counter and walking a few steps to her and he wrapped his arms around her.

The next morning, she went straight to the hospital and Juice went to the clubhouse. Jules was sitting in the waiting room when her mom walked up and took a seat beside her.

"Any news?"

"No, they won't give me any information on him. I was waiting to catch Tara." Juliet told her. "Mom, I feel like all this that has happened in the last month is on me. What happened to you, to Otto, to Chibs…if I would have stayed in Charming in the beginning, none of this would have happened."

"Hey." Gemma said firmly looking at her daughter. "I know you think this is your fault, sweetheart but it's not. Zobelle isn't here for his nephew, even though the little shithead thinks it about you. All of this is bigger than you. Zobelle doesn't give a shit about you; this is about selling guns to gangs and about the IRA."

Juliet was about to respond when Tara walked up. She told them that Chibs was in stable but critical condition, and that he has a blood clot in his brain and it's caused it to swell. The doctors will have to relieve the pressure on Chib's skull.

"Jesus." Jules said getting up and looking at her friend. "Can I see him?"

"Not right now." Tara said. "I'll let you know when he can have visitors."

"I'm going…I'm going to head back to the garage." Juliet said suddenly nauseous.

"Juliet, are you ok?" Tara asked concerned. "You're pale."

"I'm fine." She said waving it off. "It's just been a long night."

She turned and walked away quickly as Gemma and Tara looked concerned. Jenna found the closest restroom and went to throw up. After, she felt better and went to the sink to splash some cold water on her face. She looked in the mirror and grabbed a napkin and wiped away the runny mascara and eyeliner. She took a few deep breathes and headed for the exit. She got into her car and fixed her makeup before heading to the garage.

She pulled up in the lot a few minutes later and seen Juice walked towards the crime scene with a hose, bleach and gloves. She got out as he made his way over to the yellow tape.

"Getting rid of evidence, Unser?" She asked the chief as he was watching from the office door.

"Shit." Unser said looking out in the lot.

The Lodi crime scene van had pulled up and she heard the cops ask Juice what the hell he was doing. Next thing she knew, Unser walked out and acted completely upset at Juice. She busied herself with all the garage's paperwork as Unser and Juice stressed over how they were going to destroy evidence of the car bomb before the crime scene people could collect the evidence. A few minutes later she heard yelling and tires screeching. She went to the window and scene Juice jump out of an older model sedan and the crime scene men and Unser on the ground. A few minutes later, Unser had Juice handcuffed to her desk chair.

"I wasn't trying to run you over." Juice told him.

Unser and Juice had a spat and Unser threw water in Juice's face. He spit the water out as water trickled down his face. Juliet covered her smile as Juice looked at her annoyed.

A few hours later,

Juliet seen Jax in the garage alone working and she took it as her time to speak up. She opened the side door of the office that led into the garage.

"I really need to talk to you, Jackson." She told him firmly. "Now. Right now."

He looked at her concerned and nodded. He followed her into the office and she closed the door.

"What is it?" He asked.

She sighed and told him everything that had happened over the years and who was responsible.

"What the hell, Jules?" He asked upset. "You don't think that the club needed to know this shit!"

"I'm sorry." She said apologizing. "I tried to tell you!"

He paced the small office floor and looked at her with a pissed off expression.

"Who else knows this?" He asked. "Does Mom know? Juice? I'm going to kill him."

"No one knows." She lied.

He nodded and headed for the side door to go back into the garage.

"What are you going to do, Jax?"

"I don't know." He said turning to look at her. "but when I do, I'm going to cut his goddamn heart out."

She sighed and slung herself down in the chair.

Jax follows the guys to the Morada Christian Center.
