Teacher's Pet

Chapter 46: Tsubasa Knows

"What the hell is going on here?" Tsubasa asked, stepping fully into the classroom. He'd been concerned about Kagome so he left the classroom after her since he knew for a fact that she wasn't cramping. He followed her scent and opened the door to Mr. Taisho's classroom.

Kagome quickly stepped back and pushed her tall teacher away from her. "Tsubasa!"

"'Sesshomaru'. That's what you said that night you passed out. That's his name. And you had a key to his condo. And you had a garage door opener to his garage. It's him that's the secret from your friends! You're dating our teacher!" Everything suddenly clicked, and it all made sense to Tsubasa. "Dammit I'm an idiot!"

"No, Tsubasa, you're not an idiot." Kagome tried to reassure him and took a step forward to him, and he, in return, took one back.

"You are indeed an idiot to think that you could take my miko away from me." Sesshomaru said to the bear demon, not even trying to come up with an explanation as to why he was kissing his under-aged student.

"Shutup!" Kagome hissed. "Tsubasa, please let me explain."

Tsubasa took a deep breath as he looked into Kagome's deep blue eyes. He shook his head. "Dammit! This had better be good."

While they were in Sesshomaru's classroom, the final bell rang and Inuyasha entered with both Kagome's and Tsubasa's things. He walked in and instantly felt the tension.

"What the hell is going on here?" Inuyasha asked, looking around.

"Tsubasa knows." Kagome said with a sigh and plopped down in her seat.

"Well that sucks and all, but we need to get out of here. We can discuss this at one of our homes. There are too many listening ears." Inuyasha said, handing Kagome her bag. "We need to leave. Now."

Kagome shook her head. "I can't. I have to get with Sango about the cheer routines."

"You can do that tomorrow during history." Inuyasha said, ignoring his brother's growl.

Kagome looked at Tsubasa. "Will you come to Sesshomaru's condo?"

Tsubasa paused a minute before answering. He nodded his head, gathered his things, and left the classroom. He was angry. He was beyond angry. Here he was, thinking he'd found the perfect girl and she was sleeping with their teacher! What kind of bullshit was that?! He almost didn't want to find anything out, but this was bugging him. He was bothered by this more than he wanted to be. He beat the other three to the condo and rushed to his own place.

His father wasn't home, but that was no surprise. His father was rarely home. Tsubasa shook his head and poured himself a glass of Wild Turkey. It was strong and he grit his teeth against the burn of the liquor. He smelled Kagome enter the building before he smelled Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. Tsubasa paused at the door. Was he really about to go listen to whatever bullshit came out of Kagome's pretty little mouth? Of course he was. Who was he kidding? He left out of the condo and went downstairs. He didn't even have to knock on the door; it was open when he got downstairs.

"Alright, let's hear it." Tsubasa said, entering the living room.

Kagome started from the beginning, from when she and Sesshomaru met, all the way to them breaking up. She didn't skip one single detail. She told him everything about Naraku and Kagura, she told him about Kanna and how she feared for the life of her friend. By the time Kagome finished, she had tears in her eyes and she was hoping against all hope that Tsubasa was really as sweet and forgiving as she thought he was. Tsubasa was quiet while he tried to digest all of the information. Sesshomaru was off to the side, silently seething. Inuyasha was sitting on the couch beside Kagome, her silent support.

Tsubasa just stood there for a few seconds, trying to digest all of the information he was just given. "Why should I believe you?"

"Because I don't have any reason to lie to you." Kagome's voice was quiet and honest. Tsubasa's heart broke at the look of pure and utter sadness on her face.

He was insane. That was all Tsubasa could think of himself. He had to be insane. Because with all of what he'd just been told, he still felt a squeeze in his heart when he looked into Kagome's eyes, which is why he couldn't help the next words that tumbled from his lips. "How can I help?"

Kagome's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Yes. Even though you are quite possibly the most complicated girl I have ever met, there's something about you that I really do like." Tsubasa told her, shaking his head.

"I think you're crazy. If a girl came to me telling me that shit, I'd leave." Inuyasha snorted.

"Well that's why you'll stay single for the rest of your life. You're not open." Kagome looked down her nose at him.

"Don't think that I'm ok with all of this." Tsubasa said. "You still dated our teacher." He looked at Sesshomaru, who completely ignored him.

"Miko, do you really think this bear could be of any help?" Sesshomaru asked.

Kagome didn't look at Sesshomaru when she answered, she simply stared at Tsubasa. "I do." She smiled. "You didn't run."

Tsubasa sighed. "I know. Call me crazy, but I really like you Kagome. And Kanna is a really great friend to you. And Naraku and Kagura need to be stopped."

Kagome nodded. "But the question is, how do we stop them?"

"You said something about Naraku locking Kanna up sometimes. What happens when she's locked up?" Tsubasa asked, remembering that Kagome had said that Kanna told her Naraku would lock her up so she wouldn't 'forget who's the boss'.

Kagome frowned. "He has control issues. People with control issues…rape people. Naraku and…and dammit what's that other demon's name…Hakudoshi! When Kan gets locked up, Naraku puts her in with someone named Hakudoshi. He's supposed to be some ruthless demon that hurts Kanna." She paused. "But how can we find him?"

"Naraku seemed pretty bent on making us read A Feudal Fairytale. Kanna's in the book. Maybe Hakudoshi is too." Tsubasa said.

"You're a genius!" Kagome cheered.

Sesshomaru barely resisted the urge to snort, but he did glare at his younger brother. Wasn't he supposed to be helping instead of just sitting there?

Inuyasha caught his brother's glare and the meaning behind it. He would find a way to help his brother, but not that second. There were other things they had to find.

Kagome grabbed her laptop, deciding that instead of reading the book, she would look up the synopsis of it online.

"Do you do this all the time?" Inuyasha asked.

"Nope. This is my first time not reading a book I've been assigned." Kagome was busily reading on her laptop.

Tsubasa was still standing by the door until Inuyasha stood up and went to the kitchen. The bear demon hesitantly took a seat beside Kagome. But instead of looking at the screen that she was focused on, he looked at her face. He stared at the beautiful girl beside him. She was so strong, yet he knew that she was close to her breaking point. "Kagome?"

"Hmm?" Kagome never took her eyes off the screen in front of her. She was chewing her bottom lip trying to speed read through the incredibly long synopsis.

"Are you hungry? I could run and get you something to eat." Tsubasa asked.

"Uh…no, not really. Thank you, though." Kagome wasn't too focused on what Tsubasa was saying. There were too many distractions around her so Kagome stood up from the couch and sat on the floor, placing herself in a barrier where no sound could enter. She sat cross-legged on the floor for about an hour, first finishing the synopsis on the book, then doing some research on the book itself. And what she found was interesting, to say the least.

But while she wasn't paying attention, the males in her life were having a conversation.

"Have you told her what you told me?" Inuyasha asked his brother.

"Of course I haven't. But I do not know if she will believe me or not. He walked in before I had the chance to explain myself." Sesshomaru glared at Tsubasa.

"It didn't look like you were doing any explaining when I walked in. Your tongue was halfway down her throat. What the hell kind of explanation is that?!" Tsubasa fumed.

"How I explain things to my miko is of no concern to you." Sesshomaru growled.

"Your miko? Does Kagome know she's yours?" Tsubasa smirked.

"Of course she knows that she is mine." Sesshomaru snorted. How foolish could this bear be? He was obviously dense to think that he could actually hold his miko's attention. "Do you so foolishly believe that you are truly a competitor for my miko's affections?"

"Do you so foolishly believe that I'm not?"

Inuyasha wished that he'd never asked a question at all. He really had no idea why Tsubasa was still there, so hell, why not ask him? "Hey, with all of this shit that you just heard, why are you not running for the exit? You have a lot of information and could do a lot of damage."

"Because that would hurt Kagome. And that's the last thing that I want to do. I want to help her." Tsubasa gazed at the focused young lady on the floor. "She's intrigued me from the start, and nothing about that has changed."

This was all bad in Inuyasha's eyes. He could clearly see that Tsubasa had feelings for Kagome and wasn't going to back down from Sesshomaru until Kagome herself told him to do so. And from what Inuyasha knew of his best friend, she wasn't going to tell him to do that any time soon. It would take a lot of convincing on Sesshomaru's part to prove that he really did love her. But how long would that take? And then what? Inuyasha knew that Kagome had feelings for Tsubasa, so would she just toss him to the side and go running back to Sesshomaru? That wasn't Kagome. She wouldn't hurt anyone like that, so just what the hell was she going to do? He knew that everyone was going to get hurt in all of this, and he felt like it was going to be his kind-hearted best friend that got hurt the most.

Kagome finally emerged from her barrier with a frown on her face. "It's worse than we thought."

"What'd you find?" Inuyasha asked.

"This book was written under the alias Kumo. That's it. It's obviously Naraku, since 'kumo' means 'spider'. But there's more to it. This is history. Historical fiction. It's the story of you defeating him, Sesshomaru but he's altered it to suit him. He still gets defeated, but he's added characters like me, Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku. I have no idea why he added Sango and Miroku, maybe because she's my best friend and they're a couple." Kagome shrugged and shook her head. "We succeed, but only because he lets us think we do, just like he let you think that you'd ended him. In the end, it's supposed to be understood by the reader that the vile demon got his way and eventually took over the world."

"That's a shitty ending." Inuyasha frowned.

"People get tired of the protagonist winning all the time, Yash. There are some people that root for the bad guy." Kagome said sadly.

"There's no way anybody would root for someone as vile as him." Tsubasa said. "And if Kanna is in the book, is Kagura there too?"

"Yes. But she's changed, too. Just like me, Yash, Sang, and Roku. Sesshomaru is even changed. In the book, my eyes are brown. My name is changed, just like everyone else's. I'm young and ditzy. I get pulled back into the past by a well on my family's shrine. I fall in love with Inuyasha, who's stuck to a tree when I get to the past. But he's a total asshole. We meet Sango and Miroku along the way and they eventually fall in love. There's a long journey but I leave my feelings for Inuyasha alone and I fall in love with Sesshomaru." Kagome rolled her eyes. "That doesn't really make any sense, but ok. We hunt for Naraku for years, almost killing him but he slips away just in the knick of time every time. Kanna's name is the only name that's used in the entire story. Anyone reading the story and not knowing us wouldn't realize that this is what Naraku has planned for us. He knew this was what he wanted." Kagome shivered.

"What's wrong?" Tsubasa asked.

"This book was published eleven years ago. Before any of us knew that this was going to happen. Naraku took over the body of a seer and that's why he was able to see all of this. But the seer wasn't powerful, so their eyes of the future have long faded. That's the advantage we have over Naraku. Eleven years ago when he saw this future, he saw himself winning. But that was a long time ago." Kagome explained to them.

"And a lot can change in eleven years." Inuyasha said.

"Exactly."

"So what do we do with the information we have?" Tsubasa was confused.

This was where Kagome smiled. "Nothing. We do absolutely nothing. See, Naraku is cocky. He doesn't know that I know he saw a seer before he wrote this book under his alias. He thinks that because we think we're gonna die in the end, that we're gonna act rashly and mess up. But that's where he's wrong. We're gonna do the same thing we were doing. Which is trying to find Kanna and trying to destroy him. Once and for all."

"That smile is really creepy." Inuyasha told his best friend.

"It's supposed to be. Kami! Naraku's stupid!" Kagome wanted to pat herself on the back for figuring out Naraku's plan.

"How did you know that the spider took over the body of a seer?" Sesshomaru asked.

"I saw it a while ago. In one of his dreams. He relives his 'conquests' in his dreams. It's sickening." Kagome ground her teeth together at the memory of one of Naraku's dreams when he raped Kanna. That one had pissed Kagome off severely, and it still did.

The males in the room felt Kagome's anger spike and they were confused.

"Uh Kags?" Inuyasha was gentle.

"Huh?" She asked, still angry and thinking about Kanna, the sweetest person she knew.

"What's wrong?"

Kagome shook her head and stood up from her place on the floor. "I'm going to bed. G'night guys." She walked up the stairs and headed to Inuyasha's room. Kagome flopped on the bed and willed herself not to cry. She would find Kanna. If that was the last thing she did, she would find her friend.
