Chapter 13 - Origin

I am in a room that I do not recognize. It looks like a bedroom. The walls are made of wood and the floor is carpeted. I am lying on a bed. I touch my forehead and I realize that it is warm. I look in the mirror across the room. The face of a nine years old boy looks back at me. There is medicine on the drawer next to my bed. A syrup for fever.

A knock at the door. The voice of a woman comes through. She says, "I am coming in the room." The door handle turns and the door opens. A woman enters the room. She looks to be around 40 years or so. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her face carries a sense of calm.

I instinctively say, "Mom..."

The woman says, "Shh. Don't waste your strength Rayce. You need it to recover. Your fever hasn't gone down in 9 days. If it doesn't break tonight, the doctor shall bring you to the hospital."

I turn my head around a little. Hospitals are not a big thing to me. Ever since I was a child, I have been very sickly. Going to the hospital was almost a monthly ritual ever since I can remember. Ever since I can remember, I have had memories of injections, tablets, syrups, doctors' examinations and even an operation. Fever is not a big thing to me. But this one has been extremely tiring. The doctor has been coming to my home everyday. She is almost a family member. I have known her forever.

Mom lays a bowl full of soup in front of me and gives it to me, spoonful by spoonful. After the soup has been finished, she gives me a spoonful of medicine which tasted really bitter and then she left. I went back to sleep.

After a few hours, I woke up. On the chair, at the foot of my bed, was a man. He was looking at me through his brown, spectacled eyes. As soon as he saw me wake up, he asked, "How are you feeling son? Better than last night?"

I reply, "Dad... A little better, but not much."

My father replied, "Alright son, get some rest. Your mom and I get very worried when you suddenly fall ill like that."

After that, dad got up to get out of the room. As he opened the door, I asked him, "Are you gonna leave again? Last time you left, you didn't come back for 6 months. Where do you go to?"

Dad didn't answer the question. He simply said, "You'll know when you're older. For now, just rest and have fun."

I closed my eyes...

I wake up. I am now in a different room. I am looking at a window. It is open. I can see that it is a city. In the mirror on the wall, I see that I am no longer nine, but 15. Dad comes in the room. He says, "Well, Lumiose is a beautiful city. Come on, let's go."

Dad leads me out of the room and into the lobby of the hotel. He takes me to the south side of the city. There, in an alley, he takes me to his lab. He says, "Be careful. I know that I have taken you here twice already, but still, you know nothing about how stuff works here, alright. So, today, I shall introduce you to someone. He is an errand boy that helps me with my work sometimes. Mundane stuff, like bringing parts over and all that. He is the son of a colleague of mine, and he has been under my apprenticeship ever since he has been orphaned. The government takes care of him, I am just a name that they filled on the papers."

Dad takes me to his office, where a boy is doing his mathematics homework. He is blonde, with blue eyes, light skin, wears black full rimmed spectacles and is tall. He introduces himself, "Hello Rayce, my name is Jakob. It's a pleasure to meet you." He puts his hand in front of me. I shake his hand and he smiles.

Suddenly, my vision blurs and when it clears, I am on a street. It is raining. Through the puddles of water that reflect my face, I see that I am 19. I have gotten completely soaked. I am looking at the street in shock. My dad lays bloodief. He pushed me off the street to stop me from getting hit with a truck. A crowd is gathering slowly. I scream.

Suddenly, I am at graveyard. A crowd is around me. I see my mother, Jakob, my cousins, my aunts and uncles, alongside a bunch of people who I do not recognize. I also see a coffin. It is my father's funeral. I cry in silence. Jakob puts a hand on my shoulder. I look at him and I try to smile, or even to stop crying but am unable to do either.

I am in an office. It's a lawyer's office. He gives me a will, my father's will. I got all of the family property in my name, including the lab and all of his pokemons, the last few pokemon in Kalos.

I am in the lab. I can tell that I am 21 years old, as Jakob, who is of my age, is 21. He is talking to me, "You can't do this, Rayce. Who knows what'll happen? It might have unintended consequences."

I say, "I have to. It's what my dad was trying to do. It's what our government was trying to do. If it'll restore stability to our world, I will stop that Primal Dialga."

Suddenly my vision darkens and I am overcome by a headache. I open my eyes. I am lying on a sofa in the living quarters. I rub my face and get up. I am covered by a sheet of cloth only. I go to the bedroom and wear a change of clothes from the drawers.

I remember everything...

My childhood full of sickness.

My mother.

My dad working for the government as an innovator.

Jakob.

My life...

I think about myself. I am Rayce Blue of Kalos. Born and raised in Kiloude City. Moved to Lumiose when I was 16. Took over my father's investigation of the River of Time, sanctioned by the government of Kalos. Left for Treasure Town to kill or save Primal Dialga to prevent the destruction of The River of Time. All of the universes take Time from the same river as river distributories. I am human.

I... I have to get out of this lab. I want to see the world again. I get out of the bedroom. Upstairs, in the office, I see Grovyle waiting for me. A Poke Ball is in his hands. Now that I am human again, I won't be able to talk to pokemon again. He gives me the Poke Ball. I press the button on it and it takes Grovyle inside the ball. As is the law, whenever one goes out of his house to a crowded area, he or she must keep his or her pokemon in their Poke Balls.

As soon as I head for the door, a mist materializes in front of me. It is Amber. He tries to say something to me, but I cannot understand it. I just say, "Stay here.", and I leave.

I leave for the apartment in front of my eyes. I go up to the second floor and knock on the door. The door opens, and a handsome, blonde boy with blue eyes answers. Jakob says, "You're back! I was so worried the whole day."

He grabs me by the shoulders and kisses me for a long time, passionately. I reciprocate the feeling. Jakob Ewans, who was my constant partner in Lumiose, after my dad died, after I left home to live here. He pulls his face away after a whole 5 minutes. He slowly walks backwards and lets me enter our house.

Jakob Ewans, who has let me stay in his apartment for all these years. I instantly had a crush on him as soon as I saw him. And he got a crush on me when he saw me.

I enter the beautiful home, that looks just as I remember it. The white walls, decorated with plants that hang from the ceiling, illuminated by light from the windows. Our photos that adorn the wall. I see us kissing, holding hands, looking at each other and doing all kinds of things. Even though it has been 2 years of amnesia for me, the memories that come flooding in, make it all seem like yesterday. It's ironic, since it WAS literally yesterday.

Jakob looks at me, and asks, "So, is it done? All of it?"

I reply, "Yes. I saved Dialga... but there was a catch. I did it 3 years ago." I explain all of the things that happened to me in the other universe. Jakob listens patiently. After I stop, he says, "4 years, huh. I can't even imagine that. I am so glad that you were able to come back to home, to me. If I lost you, I... I wouldn't be able to go on."

I say, "Hey, but you didn't. I'm back home. I back with you. I am back with the love of my life. I love you. I will never leave you alone."

Jakob replies, "I love you too." and smiles. God, that smile is so irresistible. I kiss Jakob on the lips and he gives off a grin. He takes my hand and leads me to the bed. He takes off my clothes and I take off his. I embrace him and feel his whole body. I feel every single muscle on his body. He moves in sync with me, and I feel the happiest in 4 years.

A few hours later, we lay asleep on the bed, holding hands.

Now that Rayce is human and has all of his memories back, what will he do next. Find out in the next chapter.
