Previously on A Half-breed's Life:

His father's screams rang through his head. Raditz's laugh as he tortured his father. Vegeta's last words before he left…

"If he can't survive, he's not worth our time."

Fine. They wanted him to toughen up? He would toughen up. Those specialists wanted him to work and train? Fine. He would do just that and he would become the strongest warrior in this camp and once those three saiyans returned…

Gohan narrowed his eyes at the wall in front of him as he leaned on the sink.

"I'm going to kill them."

"Do you really think you'll get away with attempting to kill me?" Vegeta asked. "Are you really that stupid?"

"I will succeed one day." Gohan said as he looked up.

"Hmmm." Vegeta pushed against Gohan's elbow again. "But for now you're still too weak to be capable of murder." The man smirked when Gohan let out another pained sound. "And you're too weak to overpower me." The man leaned in closer while he applied even more pressure on Gohan's arm. "If you try something like this again I will personally break both your legs and arms, got it?"

"Yes." Gohan groaned out. "I got it."

"Good." Vegeta released the boy and floated back to give Gohan more room to get up. "Go back to your cot." He ordered, watching as Gohan got up as well and got off the bed.

"Give up, boy." Raditz stated. Gohan met his eyes. "You can't escape from us. Besides, you're already in this world. Frieza knows about you. If you run back to earth you'll lead him straight to it. He will go after you."

"Maybe…" Gohan said hesitantly. He realized that Headmaster said the exact same thing. Were they all right?

"No. Not maybe. Definitely. You saw how he treated you. That asshole enjoys making other people suffer and he seems to find some sadistic pleasure in making us suffer. He won't just let you take off into the sunset. If you run, you and your planet are dead."

"Good day, lads." The man nodded to them. "I saw familiar faces and thought I'd say hi." He said cheerfully.

"Ah, Ika, Tell me." Vegeta said as he leaned back on his seat. "When I put this brat in the camp he was entirely unscathed but when I got him back he had this terrible scar on his back. It's the sign of Thunder right on his shoulder." Vegeta explained. "He told me it's a new tradition. Such a brutal tradition."

Gohan could feel his body go cold when Ika gaze landed on him. The man seemed very amused with Gohan's lies. Ika turned to the older warrior. "Sure." He started. "Only the strongest belong in our group and if they cannot endure something like that they're not right for the group, don't you agree?"

Gohan crawled on the high bar stool and looked up at Ika. "Why did you help me?" He asked. "Why didn't you tell Vegeta the truth?"

Ika looked over his shoulder at the saiyans. The man shrugged. "I can understand that you want them to think you're a regular member of Thunder." He said as he looked back at Gohan. "Besides, this means that you owe me." He continued, grinning. "I like it when people are indebted to me, especially cute ones like you." The man pinched Gohan's cheek and the half-saiyan pushed his hand away. "Ah." Ika grabbed Gohan's soda and handed it to him. "There you go. My treat." The man winked at the half-saiyan before walking off.

Frieza looked right into Gohan's eyes. The man watched the expression on his face as he held up Gohan's hand. The boy stared at his own fingers. It almost seemed like they belonged to someone else but it was really his hand with the fingers sticking out in every direction but the right one. "Well," Frieza smirked contently, "I think this is an improvement."

"I agree, master Frieza." Zarbon stated sweetly.

"So, little monkey," Frieza cupped Gohan's chin with his slick hand. "If I ask you a question, what do you do?"

"I answer truthfully." Gohan muttered in response.

"Good." Frieza released the half-saiyan. "That was all. I'll call for your squad when I need you."

Gohan stared at the tyrant for a few seconds. He then shook his head and turned around. The boy used his tail to press on the button next to the door to get out the room. "Oh, Zarbon." Gohan heard as the door opened. "Tell all the rejuvenation rooms to refuse the monkey boy for twenty-four hours." Frieza ordered.

Gohan looked down at his uncle. "Why does he hate me so much?" He asked, looking very confused.

"He doesn't hate you." Vegeta was sitting on his own bed on the other side of the room. "He fears you." The man took off his scouter.

"Fears me?" Gohan chuckled. "He doesn't fear me. I stay away from the things that I fear I don't beat them up."

"He fears what you represent. You're a young saiyan. You're stronger than most of the adult soldiers and your strength is growing fast." Vegeta elaborated. The man leaned against the wall to which his bed was connected. "He fears what you might become. He's always been afraid of our race and our strength. By doing this he's trying make you fear him. He's trying to keep you down."

"I don't want to overthrow him." Gohan said, shaking his head. "I don't even want to be here. I'll leave this army any time if he wants me to and stay far away from this horrible society. If he needs me to go I'll leave."

Vegeta ignored the heavy sigh that Gohan released after that. "Believe it or not, half-breed, in this world, we," Vegeta made a circular motion with his finger to indicate to his adult comrades and himself, "are your only allies."

Let's move on~

Chapter 13. The Second Mission.

Gohan opened his eyes after yet another rough landing with the space pod. Honestly, these things were going to be the death of him someday. The half-saiyan opened the space pod and crawled out. He glanced down, and realized there was no crater this time. The ground here must be really hard.

The half-saiyan took one step forwards and realized his limbs suddenly felt very heavy. So heavy… Gohan's knees trembled, broke down and he landed on the ground on all fours.

"What the hell?"

Vegeta tilted his head sideways, wondering why Gohan was on the ground. "Oh, you're not used to this level of gravity?" He guessed.

"Gravity?" Gohan asked as he looked up. Even lifting his head was difficult.

Vegeta crossed his arms over each other. "The gravity on this planet is about twenty times higher than the gravity on Frieza's ship and planets." He explained. The man showed a somewhat amused expression as he stepped closer to Gohan. The half-saiyan glared up at him. "Oh, the jokes I can make about you finally knowing your place."

"Just wait until I get up." Gohan snarled back at him. "I'll make a joke that will hit you right in the face. Hard."

Vegeta smirked as he turned away from the half-saiyan. Gohan assumed the others were used to encountering different levels of gravity. Gohan seemed to be the only one who was affected by it.

Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa approached each other. "You guys know the drill. This planet is a level three mission. We covered every aspect of this planet on our way here. I plan on finishing this planet as soon as possible." He explained. Meanwhile, Gohan placed his foot on the ground and leaned on his knee with his hand.

"The warriors here have electric powers but they need time to charge their attacks. Don't give them this time." Vegeta said. The man looked over his shoulder to Gohan, who was now standing, but was leaning on his knees with his hands. "Nappa, you can take the kid."

Nappa nodded in response. "I'll take good care of him." He said cheerfully. Gohan pursed his lips. He doubted that.

Vegeta seemed satisfied with this reply. "Good. That's settled then." The man turned around and noticed that Gohan was now taking slow steps. Vegeta reached out, placed his finger on Gohan's forehead, and pushed the boy over. Gohan fell back, landing on his behind and his hands.

"Getting up is the most difficult part of a higher gravity. Get it under control. Work hard. If you don't want to spend the next few weeks scrubbing the toilet every day, I suggest you do your best." Vegeta ordered. The man looked over at Nappa. "Have fun." He stated before he left. Raditz left without saying anything.

Nappa looked over at Gohan. The young warrior was still frowning at the dot that indicated Vegeta. Nappa placed his hands on his hips. "Let's go, kiddo." He called over.

Gohan pushed his body up and followed his comrade. Their first city was a large one. Nappa turned to the young warrior. "Listen up." He said, sounding serious. "You know the drill. Work with me or I'll call the others and we'll gang up on you." The man glanced down at the city. "Being all sassy and bratty might be fun in the beginning but it gets old soon and I'm not about to let you ruin our missions, got it?"

"Hey, I don't even want to be here." Gohan snarled back. "If I'm such a pain why don't you just let me go?"

Nappa held up his hand. "You will obey me." He stated. "Kill everything that moves," The man noticed how Gohan glanced up at him, "Excluding me." He added. The half-saiyan showed a small smirk as he lowered his gaze to the city once more. "Got it?"

"No."

The full-blooded saiyan ignored this response, and turned to the city. He opened his hands, and created two energy blasts. Gohan watched as Nappa sent the two ki-orbs. The explosion wasn't strong enough to push the two saiyans away from their position, but it did considerable damage to the structures down there.

Several figures appeared in front of the two Saiyans. "What is the meaning of this?" One of them asked, glaring at the two warriors. The man's blue skin was dark compared to the fair complexion of the two saiyans. This warrior had short bright red hair, but all the other warriors had very dark brown hair. It made Gohan wonder whether the red-haired man dyed his hair. They weren't all wearing the same uniform so Gohan figured they were just strong civilians. This was not the army.

Nappa put up his hands. "Sorry. Orders from the boss." He responded. The man pointed to Gohan with his thumb. "Here to teach his kid how to annihilate a pathetic race like yours."

Gohan glared at Nappa. "What the hell do you think you're…?" Gohan realized why Nappa said this. Knowing that Gohan was the child of some big boss who was in charge of the destruction of their planet, made Gohan a very important hostage. It would send all the soldiers over to the half-saiyan, who would be forced to defend his body and thus kill the aliens.

Before Gohan knew it, the first few soldiers attacked. The half-saiyan flew back to create some distance but he couldn't avoid the first punch. He stumbled back in the air, moving up his arm to defend his head from the next punch.

Gohan remembered that the aliens could charge up an electricity attack so he made sure that none of them could actually prepare that attack. The young warrior killed several different warriors, disintegrating their bodies in the process. After that he looked around. Nappa was fighting other aliens. Gohan's first instinct was to join in the fight, but suddenly he realized that Nappa was distracted.

The half-saiyan turned on his heels and flew off, away from the fight, away from those horrible saiyans. The young warrior looked over his shoulder when he heard an outraged scream from Nappa but he didn't stop flying.

Once he was sure Nappa wasn't following him, Gohan landed on the ground in the middle of a forest. There he lowered his power-level all the way down so they couldn't find his presence with their scouters.

The young warrior started running. He ran for hours and hours, jumping over bushes, tripping over rocks and tree-roots. He did not stop until his body broke down from exhaustion. Gohan decided to find a place where he could rest. A cave would be the first place they would look. He would have to stay in the forest. They wouldn't be able to see him from the sky if he stayed here.

Gohan found a small open area between three trees. He could sit in the open area and the bushes that were surrounding the trees would hide him entirely. The young warrior crawled to one of the trees and leaned against the trunk. He looked around to make sure nobody would be able to see him, but all he could see were the bushes around him and the trees above him. He figured he was safe.

He wasn't entirely sure why he ran away. He just saw an opportunity, and he took it. However, now that he was sitting here in the darkness, he realized how stupid his actions were. The chance that he would be able to leave this planet was very slim. The other saiyans would not leave this planet without him. They would search every inch of the planet if only to kill him.

Gohan let out a sigh when his stomach rumbled. He needed to find something to eat soon or his stomach would give him away. The young warrior leaned his head back and closed his eyes. For now, he would try to get some rest.

After a quick nap, Gohan was munching on some dried meat and vegetables. These were the rations they had for the journey to and from the mission. These rations didn't have to be cooked or prepared in any way. Gohan still didn't want to make a fire, and he didn't dare eat the fruits and vegetables he found on the planet.

Although it wasn't the tastiest meal, Gohan felt energized and ready to continue his journey. He felt more confident as well. During the journey to the mission, Gohan overheard a conversation in which Vegeta said that they only had to enslave this planet and thus they went from country to country, killing most of the soldiers and persuading the rulers into pledging their loyalty to Frieza. Maybe Gohan could avoid the saiyan team while they were doing their job, wait for Frieza's soldiers, who would take control of this planet, and steal one of their ships to get off this planet.

Yes. That's how he was going to do this. Gohan was confident that this was going to work. He was not that important to the other saiyans, right? They would choose to do their job first, and they would eventually give up on finding him.

The young warrior went to discover his surroundings. He found out that his little camp was pretty close to a city but not close enough to be discovered by the people who live there. The city seemed to be just fine, which bothered Gohan because that meant the saiyans still had to hit that city.

Gohan spent the rest of the day searching for things to eat. He found several different pieces of fruit which he took back to his little hideout. There he categorized them by placing them on the ground in groups. In order to find out if they were poisonous or not he rolled up his sleeves and rubbed a few different fruits on his skin.

The young warrior tried to remember what he'd been taught about this but he never really paid that much attention to the survival classes. He decided to wait twenty-four hours. If the fruits on his skin did not cause rashes he would take a small bite of some of them and wait for yet another ten hours to find out if he got sick.

During the night he tried to get some sleep but he kept jumping every time he heard something. His dreams were filled with visions of Vegeta, Raditz or Nappa standing over him, cracking their knuckles and laughing at him, ready to torture the young boy. He kept waking up with a start, looking around, shivering and cold.

After waking up from yet another bad dream, Gohan leaned forwards and placed his hands on his face. He didn't expect to be so scared. The longer he wasn't found, the more scared he became. The young warrior decided to go to a nearby pond and splash some water in his face. He knelt down next to the pond, reaching out to cup some water in his hands, when he heard something behind him.

The young warrior looked over his shoulder, but he only saw a small furry animal. Gohan let out a sigh. He was too tensed. He leaned down to splash some water in his face when something moved again. This time he felt a power-level rapidly coming closer to him.

The young warrior whirled around only to realize that he was surrounded. How did he not feel these people? Gohan counted about seven of them. They were carrying ropes, knives and bows and arrows, which made Gohan assume they had been hunting for food.

"Who are you?" One of the aliens asked. "What are you?" He asked as he looked Gohan up and down.

"I'm not looking for any trouble." Gohan responded. "I..I.. I was stranded here. I didn't mean to trespass."

"His outfit." One of the aliens said to the others. This man was easily the youngest of the group. He had bright blue eyes. "He's wearing the same clothes as those planet brokers who have been terrorizing the other countries." He stated. "We saw them on TV."

"You're right." Another alien stated.

Blue-eyes turned to Gohan, who was shaking his head. "You're working with them, aren't you?"

"No."

"You came here to terrorize our city but you got cold feet and are afraid to tell your boss!"

"No!"

"He looks too young." A man with a white beard observed. "Maybe he just travelled along with them and got lost?"

"Whatever happened." An alien with short dark brown hair stated. "I'd say we take this one. If we have him, we could trade him for the safety of our country."

Gohan could feel his body growing cold. He could not power up to defend himself or the others would notice him. He could not afford to cause a scene, but he was not supposed to get caught by these people either.

"Please. I don't mean to cause trouble." Gohan tried. "Just let me be."

"Too bad, kiddo. You ran into the wrong people." Blue-eyes nodded to something behind Gohan and the young warrior turned around. He widened his eyes when something white was shot right at him. The electricity beam hit him with full force. He screamed out and fell to his hands and knees. More electricity beams were charged up but Gohan flew up to avoid them.

The young warrior powered up when he realized the others were following him. Another electricity beam hit him before he could react. The young warrior made a pained face. He noticed another beam was shot in his direction and he tried to deflect it but it only latched onto his arm and shot through his body once more.

"Auch…" Gohan gasped out. Okay. He could not deflect these attacks. He would just have to avoid them or not let these warriors charge the attacks up. The problem was that they were experienced with fighting. Several soldiers attacked Gohan at the same time, fighting him and keeping him occupied while others charged up electricity beams so they could hit Gohan at the same time.

After getting hit by three beams at the same time, Gohan nearly fell out of the sky. Hands grabbed his arms and pulled him up. The aliens made sure he stayed up in the air.

Blue-eyes looked at his comrades. "Let's weaken him by sending a few more beams." He stated. "Then we'll lock him up somewhere in sight so his friends can see him clearly."

The half-saiyan opened his eyes and winced when he realized several warriors were charging up electricity attacks, all directed to him. He weakly attempted to pull his arms free but he was damaged greatly. His body would not respond.

Gohan closed his eyes when the aliens all called that they were ready. Blue-eyes ordered to send the beams, and Gohan braced his body, waiting for impact, but nothing happened. The beams never hit their target. Gohan opened his eyes and gasped out loud.

The beams never came because the aliens who were about to shoot them were all dead, their bodies falling from the sky. Gohan had to keep his body floating when the aliens around him all released him at the same time. They were pushed away from the young warrior, attacked by dark figures.

Several aliens tried to take Gohan again but the half-saiyan used the last bit of his energy to fight back, killing the aliens easily. While he was fighting, he realized exactly what happened. He felt the familiar power levels. He recognized the playful laughs and comments as the three saiyans fought the aliens.

Gohan finished off his most recent opponent. They were easier to fight one-on-one, especially since they couldn't charge their electricity beams. Gohan looked around for another opponent but noticed they weren't any left.

The young warrior powered up and tried to flee, racing away. His only warning was a peak of energy from Vegeta, and suddenly the warrior was floating in front of the half-saiyan, crossing his path, forcing the half-saiyan to stop.

"Well well." Vegeta stated, smirking at the young warrior. "Look what we found. This planet is full of surprises and secret treasures."

Gohan clenched his fists and powered up. He prepared his body to fight the three warriors but Vegeta was already shaking his head.

"Don't even think about it." The saiyan prince warned. "We are already behind on schedule. We do not have enough time to fight you."

"That's not my problem." Gohan snarled back.

Vegeta looked over at the other adults. "Nappa." He stated before he reached down in his armour. Gohan gasped when Nappa's bulky arms wrapped around his frame. The man tightened his grip painfully, forcing Gohan to let out a whimper.

"That was for leaving me alone back there." Nappa growled in his ear.

Gohan looked up when Vegeta appeared in front of Gohan. The man was holding a small syringe and he forcibly pushed Gohan's head sideways, exposing his neck. Gohan's body tensed when Vegeta brought the needle closer to his neck. The man pushed the needle into Gohan's skin.

The young warrior tried not to move while Vegeta injected something in his body. He knew that it couldn't be good but he did not want to risk ripping open his own neck either. Vegeta pulled away and Nappa released him. Gohan sent them a confused glance.

His body tightened up and he screamed out when every part of his skin, bones, muscles and even organs started to burn painfully. The young warrior trembled heavily. He squirmed to get rid of the pain but it was still there. Everywhere.

"Stop it!" Gohan screamed at his comrades. He wrapped his arms around his torso, rubbed his hands over his skin, and he even pushed his fingers so deep into his skin that bruises started to form, but nothing changed. The pain was still there. Everywhere.

"Don't worry." Vegeta stated as he tossed the syringe away. "It will wear off. In about thirty minutes."

Vegeta ignored the trembling half-saiyan and turned to his comrades. "Raditz. Take the boy. We'll let the effects wear off while we prepare something to eat." He stated.

Raditz grabbed Gohan's arm to pull him along and he released the young warrior once they were safely on the ground. There, Gohan sank through his knees and squirmed on the ground.

Vegeta rolled his eyes. "Shut him up." He called over to Raditz.

The uncle nodded and knelt down next to Gohan. The man pulled off Gohan's own glove. After this he reached behind Gohan and untied the thin rope Gohan used to tie his hair together.

The man was somewhat surprised when Gohan resisted, turning away and biting at the man's fingers, but Raditz managed to push the glove into Gohan's mouth and tie the rope around his head, gagging the young warrior. The man created a ki-bond to tie Gohan's hands together behind his back.

Raditz got up and turned away from the half-saiyan. "Unbelievable." He muttered to himself as he walked to the others. "He still put up a fight while under the influence of the serum." He felt the effects once. It was horrible. His entire body hurt constantly and it was hard to move or even breathe or think.

About thirty minutes later, Gohan slowly sat up. His body was still throbbing painfully but he could think clearly now. He broke the ki-bond and reached up to untie the rope around his mouth and neck. After this he spit out the glove and some saliva that had been gathering in his mouth.

"Half-breed." Vegeta called over. "Come here and eat something. You'll need it."

Gohan didn't say anything as he walked closer and sat down. He accepted the plate from Vegeta and ate silently. He continued to stay silent as the others prepared to take a nap.

Even when the four warriors left together, he was still silent. They decided that splitting up wouldn't work while they were still taming Gohan, so they would work as a team from now on.

Vegeta ordered Gohan to do the city alone since he had two days of work to catch up on. Gohan did not refuse. He did as Vegeta told him. Raditz and Nappa sent their squad leader surprised and somewhat celebratory glances but the saiyans prince shook his head.

"This is only temporary. I'm sure of it." Vegeta stated. Gohan would get his fight back in no-time.

Gohan looked up when the door to their room opened. The half-saiyan leaned back against the wall and lowered his gaze, ignoring the people who walked inside the room.

Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa did the exact same thing. They passed the beds next to the doorway and walked over to the couch on the other side of the small room. Frieza's ship was the closest to their previous planet so they stayed in their room there.

The first thing Vegeta did when they arrived was order Gohan to sit down on the bed and stay there. Raditz opened one of the lockers and pulled out two metal chains with metal shackles. At the time, Gohan decided to be obedient and allow them to chain him up.

Two days later, it was getting rather annoying. The half-saiyan was allowed to join the others on their training sessions but he spent the rest of the days chained to his bed.

The half-saiyan watched as the others sat down on the couch. Gohan crawled over to the foot end of the bed. "Vegeta?"

"Hmm?"

"I have to go to the bathroom."

"You have your bucket."

Gohan glanced over to the bucket that was hanging onto the corner of the bed. "I don't want to use the bucket."

"Should have thought of that before you went on your little camping trip."

Gohan let out a sigh. "Come on, Vegeta. What did you expect?" He sounded so angry that Vegeta actually looked up at him. "I'm a saiyan and saiyans do what they have to do in order to get what they want. All I want right now is to be as far away from this company as I possibly can. Nappa was busy. I wasn't. I saw an opportunity and I took it." He snarled. "You cannot blame me for doing what I had to do."

Vegeta held Gohan's gaze for a moment before he got up. "Interesting." He stated as he stepped closer. Gohan tensed his body. "This is the first time you admitted out loud that you have saiyan blood in you."

Gohan did not respond. Vegeta smirked as he floated up. The man opened the shackles around Gohan's wrists. "Go ahead, little saiyan."

The young warrior rubbed over his wrists with his hands. They were a little itchy after being locked behind metal all this time. Gohan jumped off his bed and almost ran into the bathroom. He'd been sitting on his bed all day and stubbornly hadn't used the bucket. Relief was not a strong enough word right now.

He hoped that he wouldn't have to be chained up again after this but when he emerged from the bathroom, Vegeta was sitting on Gohan's bed. The man beckoned for Gohan to get back on there. Gohan allowed Vegeta to chain up his wrists again.

After this, the young warrior moved back on the bed to create some distance. Vegeta was in no hurry to get back to the couch. The man continued his conversation with the others while sitting on the bed. Gohan let his body fall back onto the bed. He briefly considered kicking Vegeta off with his foot but decided against it. He didn't want to visit the rejuvenation tank again today.

He would just have to be patient.

Gohan was floating in the air, staring down at the destroyed city. He wiped over his mouth and noticed there was a smear of blood on his lower arm. The boy made an annoyed face. He still got hurt during these things. The others tended to get out of the fights without a scratch on them.

The young warrior extended an arm to the city and sent a couple ki-blasts. He ignored the screams and crying down there. All he had to do was destroy signs of civilization and the inhabitants. Animals were allowed to stay alive and the natural environment of the planet was supposed to stay intact.

"Half-breed!"

Gohan lowered his arm and glanced sideways when he heard Vegeta's shout. The older saiyan studied the destroyed city. "Someone is in the right mood." He observed before looking over at Gohan.

"What's up?"

"You're too far away." Vegeta stated. "If you go any further I'll count it as an attempt to run away."

"I'm not attempting anything." Gohan snarled in response.

"Good. Stay here." Vegeta extended his arms to the city and started sending ki-blasts as well. His beams were a little more precise, targeting people rather than the buildings. Gohan crossed his arms and watched. He didn't look to the city, he was looking at the expression on Vegeta's face. The man showed an almost peaceful gaze. Gohan often studied the expressions of his comrades, and he always saw the same smug glances. Never remorse. No guilt. Nothing.

"If you want to eat today you'd better start earning your keep." Vegeta snarled at the half-saiyan.

Gohan nodded slowly before turning to the city. The two saiyans continued to level the city with the ground.

Nappa and Raditz joined them so they could move on to the next city. There, Gohan noticed a strange-looking building. The young warrior made a curious face. "Look at that." He pointed as he looked over at Raditz.

His uncle extended his hand to the building but Gohan appeared in front of his uncle. "Don't destroy it!"

Raditz lowered his hand. "In case you didn't know, that's exactly what we have to do." He responded before moving his hand up again. "Now get out of the way or you'll get a hole in your chest."

Gohan crossed his arms over each other. "Go ahead."

Raditz narrowed his eyes and a ki-orb appeared in his hand. "Don't think I won't do it."

The half-saiyan raised both his eyebrows at the man. "I still don't have a hole in my chest."

The two held each other's gaze while Raditz's ki-orb floated in front of his hand. Nappa appeared next to Raditz. The man extended his hand to the beautiful building and destroyed it with one massive ki-blast.

Gohan turned sideways to watch the building explode. He glared at Nappa. "Hey!"

"Oops."

"Yeah right!" Gohan snarled at the tall man. "I wanted to keep that building."

Nappa ignored him and continued his work. Gohan moved aside when Raditz waved him away. The half-saiyan made a sad face as he studied the destroyed building.

"You guys are boring." Gohan complained. "All work. No play."

"Do you know what happens when we play all day during a mission?" Raditz asked as he lowered his arm again. "We don't get anything done and guess who will have to answer to Vegeta then, huh?"

Gohan shrugged. "Unlike you I'm not afraid of Vegeta." He responded coolly.

The young warrior flinched when a tail casually landed on his shoulder. "Oh really?" Vegeta sounded amused. "That means I'm doing something very wrong."

Gohan used his own tail to push Vegeta's limb tail off his shoulder. He didn't like it when they did that. He knew it was strange but whenever one of them placed their tail on his shoulder like that he felt like they were putting some sort of mark on him. As if they were trying to relay a message to him or the others. He wasn't going to ask them if that was true though. They would probably consider him crazy.

Vegeta looked the damage over. There was nothing left. Only rubble. "Good." He stated as he turned to the others. "I think we've done enough here. Let's find a place where we can get some rest."

As they were searching for a place to stay, Gohan studied the landscape. "Amazing. No wonder we had to keep the natural environment intact. It's beautiful."

Vegeta motioned for them to follow him and they landed near a lake. Gohan glanced sideways and noticed a strange animal. The creature was almost as tall as Gohan. Its fur was dark brown with several pink-ish spots covering its body. The young warrior watched as the creature yawned, showing off its massive teeth. Gohan could have sworn those teeth were the same size as his lower arm.

"Half-breed? … Half-breed!" Vegeta looked around when he noticed Gohan was not responding to him. "Where is that ru…" The man stopped when he caught sight of Gohan. The boy was still studying the animal.

"Tssk." Vegeta appeared in front of Gohan and grabbed the animal. He cruelly snapped the beast's neck right in front of the half-saiyan. Gohan gasped at this bizarre display of violence, and his gaze moved up to meet Vegeta's eyes. "That's what happens to things that annoy me. Now, if you could spare a minute of your precious time, go catch some fish!"

The half-saiyan nodded slowly before turning to the lake. Vegeta took the creature back to the fire pit and started to prepare it for their supper. Gohan caught a decent amount of fish before returning to the other three warriors. They all worked together to produce a feast and enjoyed their personal buffet afterwards.

Vegeta ordered Gohan to catch some more fish, but the half-saiyan refused, saying that he already caught fish today and that someone else could do the job now. Vegeta proceeded to suggest that they could eat Gohan instead, something the half-saiyan anticipated, and the young warrior dismissed this easily by saying that would be such a waste of his talent.

When Nappa got up to teach Gohan a lesson, the young warrior ran to the water, where he challenged Nappa to come and get him.

Now, Vegeta and Raditz were watching with amazement as Nappa was floating above the water, trying to catch Gohan without being dragged into the water himself.

Vegeta sighed. "That boy is getting more annoying by the day." He complained.

Raditz slowly shook his head. "He thinks he got us all figured out."

Vegeta got up. "But we have something he doesn't have."

"What's that?"

Vegeta clenched his fists. "Strength in numbers." He responded before he started for the lake. Raditz got the hint and hastily followed Vegeta. The two joined Nappa in his attempt to get Gohan out of the lake. The half-saiyan was good, but not good enough to avoid all three saiyans. Not long later, Vegeta was dragging Gohan onto dry land, ranting about proper behaviour during the missions and how Gohan was failing at that. The usual rant.

A few hours later, the group was flying across the planet, searching for a proper place to depart from this planet. Gohan looked at the destroyed area and tilted his head sideways.

"Hey…" He stated. "The ground is white."

"It wasn't when we destroyed this area." Vegeta muttered in response. "But that was at least twenty hours ago."

The group looked up when the air around them was suddenly invaded by white sparkly objects. Gohan stopped flying. He looked around. "It's snow." He stated, amazed. The young warrior held out his hands and caught the snowflakes with his hands, watching them melt as they made contact with his high temperature. They flew right into the snowfall.

"Fascinating." Raditz muttered sarcastically. Gohan ignored this comment and he flew down to the ground.

"Half-breed!" Vegeta yelled after him. "Come back here!" The man let out an annoyed sound when Gohan ignored him. "Children!" He exclaimed before he flew after the young warrior.

Gohan let his body fall back, spreading his arms and legs. He started moving his legs and arms in the snow to create a snow angel. This was something he read about in books about snow and its traditions on most planets.

"Look." Gohan was just getting up when the three warriors landed. "I made an angel."

Vegeta reached Gohan first and he grabbed hold of the half-saiyan's ear, pinching harshly. He ignored the half-saiyan's whimpers. "Oh really?" He pulled Gohan closer, forcing the half-saiyan to make a pained face as he stepped closer to the man. "Well, I will be tempted to send you to all the others angels if you keep running off like this, got it?"

"Okay. Okay." Gohan responded. "I won't do it again." Vegeta released him and Gohan stepped back, rubbing over his ear.

"We're leaving." Vegeta stated as he turned away from Gohan. Before he could take a step, something slammed into his shoulder. The man heard a snicker and he turned around again.

Gohan was already creating his second snowball. Vegeta's hands balled into fists. "Half-breed." He stated, trying to stay calm. "What did I tell you about the proper time to play and the proper time to…" Another snowball landed against his chest. Gohan grinned at him.

"That's it!" Vegeta snarled before he launched at the half-saiyan. Gohan stumbled back, barely avoiding the massive snowballs Vegeta was throwing at him. The half-saiyan threw a couple back, hitting Vegeta every time because the man was seething and therefore not focused.

Gohan ran in a big circle to avoid his comrade and ran behind Raditz. "Help me." He stated cheerfully.

Raditz opened his mouth to reply in a negative manner but a snowball landed against his head, covering the entire side of his face and hair.

Vegeta opened and closed his mouth, looking shocked. "I was aiming for the brat." He stated. "You were in the way."

Gohan laughed loudly at Raditz's misfortune but he stopped laughing when Raditz turned on him as well.

Nappa watched for a second as Gohan stepped back while Raditz and Vegeta leaned down to gather a bunch of snow. The bulky warrior approached Gohan and he leaned down to grab some snow as well.

"Come on, kiddo." Nappa stated. "Two against two. This should make an interesting war."

Gohan grinned and nodded. "Alright!" He leaned down to grab snow as well and got ready for the battle. The battle of strength, precision, and a lot of fun.

The tension in the room was almost unbearable for the half-saiyan. He had been in this situation many times but in a way it was more difficult to bear than usual.

Disappointment. The specialists had been disappointed in him many times. Pretty much every time he tried to escape from the camp with his friends, the specialists made no attempt to hide their disappointment.

Right now, he realized that the three saiyans were not really trying to hide their disappointment but they also didn't seem to want to show how disappointed they really were.

Last night, Gohan noticed that Vegeta stupidly left the keys to the front door on the table of the apartment. The young warrior sneaked out during the night and tried to leave the apartment. The young warrior made it all the way downstairs but he didn't know that Vegeta bribed the receptionists into calling Vegeta up every time they saw Gohan alone.

The half-saiyan wondered what to do while he was in the elevator and he decided to casually walk out the door, hoping that they would think he was doing nothing wrong. This façade disappeared when Gohan heard one of the receptionists say Vegeta's name and he ran for it.

It took Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa about three hours to find the half-saiyan, but only because a group of Nappa's friends saw the boy and kept him occupied.

One fight that eventually lead to a beating later, Gohan crawled back into his bed under Raditz's supervision. The young warrior was allowed to spend the night in his own bed but after that the three warriors chained him to one of the chairs in the common room.

Gohan watched as the three warriors went about their day, grabbing their own drinks, sitting down on the couch and studying their charts and reports. They hadn't spoken to him all day. Even during the training session, Vegeta placed Gohan somewhere in a corner and created a ki-cage around the boy so the half-saiyan had to stay there for the entirety of the training. He was not allowed to join them. It was the first time Vegeta kicked him out of the training.

The half-saiyan spent the rest of the day in this horrid chair. Usually, Vegeta would have a ton of chores for Gohan to do but there was nothing today. Not a word.

Gohan shifted on the chair so he could look at Vegeta. "Vegeta?"

Silence.

"Can I help with the reports? I know you've been writing mine for me."

"Nope."

"Nope, I can't help, or nope, you haven't been writing the reports for me."

"If you don't stop talking now I will cut off your tongue."

Gohan closed his mouth, rubbing his tongue against his palate. He liked having his tongue there. The young warrior let out a sigh.

Raditz studied the half-saiyan curiously. He found it fascinating that Gohan was bothered by the silent treatment. The man leaned forwards. "Do you know what day it is, nephew?" He asked.

Gohan's dark eyes met his gaze and the young warrior slowly shook his head. "Today is your six month anniversary." Raditz explained. "You've been living with us for six months now."

Gohan lowered his gaze. "Really?" He muttered.

"You chose the perfect day to try to run." Vegeta muttered.

"You were the one who left the keys on the table."

"I know." Vegeta met Gohan's eyes. "I made a mistake and I paid for it. That's how it goes around here."

"No! You do not get to be mad at me for this." Gohan snarled as he got up. "I didn't do anything wrong. You three are holding me here against my will, remember?"

"So what?" Vegeta responded in a raised voice. "Look around you, brat. Do you think you're the only person here who's had it bad? Nappa was promised that he would only have to look after me for six months, and then he would be able to see his family again. While Nappa and I were on Frieza's ship, Frieza destroyed our entire planet. His family included. Raditz was excited to hear the news of his new-born baby brother. He came back expecting to meet his new family member but all he found was an empty space in the universe." The man got up. "Our stories are just a couple of many in this world. Do you want compassion? Do you expect a shoulder to cry on? Grow up."

Raditz and Nappa were silent while Vegeta spoke. Gohan helplessly listened to the rant. "You are a soldier of the Planet Trade Organization and you are part of my squad. All I see when I look at you is extra points for getting a mission done faster and a decent sparring partner to grow my own strength. I refuse to let you ruin our profits. I expect you to do your job and obey my orders or I'll make sure you spend the last hours of your life in pure agony. Now," The man sat down again and grabbed his reports, "if you don't have anything useful to say then sit down and be quiet."

Gohan's mouth was slightly open. He slowly lowered his gaze and sat down on the chair. There he pulled his legs on the chair as well.

The silence went on. Not because they wanted it. The four warriors just didn't really know what to say. So they were silent. Raditz, Vegeta and Nappa continued to work on their reports while Gohan curled up in the chair and closed his eyes to take a nap.

Next time on A Half-breed's Life Rewrite:

Raditz floated closer to Vegeta. "You're going to let the prisoner take care of the prisoner?"

"Half-breed, she has to get back unharmed. If she runs away or gets hurt, you will have to answer to Frieza." Vegeta stated.

The young woman showed him a small smile. "You're different." Her expression softened as she studied him.

"I can't have her talking you into something. She doesn't want to go back to her family." Vegeta stepped closer. "You have to understand. She cannot free you. Frieza won't let you go with her. Once we've brought her to her family, we will part ways. She will go with her family and you will stay with us. Forever."

Until next time!
