"He is going to be nothing but trouble when he grows up," Sasuke declared, eyeing their six month old boy as he continued to struggle against the drawer he knew his father kept the weapons in. The shiny kunai never failed to fascinate the boy and catch the entirety of his attention, it seemed. He and Sakura had taken to the habit of putting locks on every cache of theirs, lest their curious boy find them and feel the need to open them.

"Oh, you're too negative, Sasuke," his wife chided, looking amused as she stared at their struggling baby. She lifted and hand to her mouth and giggled a bit secretively when Sasuke picked up one of Daisuke's toys and gently threw it across the room to catch his attention. Expectedly, the baby's head turned quickly towards the sound, and he wobbled a bit on his feet. She saw Sasuke tense a bit, body preparing to move in case he fell, and her heart melted warmly, awe washing over her features. He always had been hellbent on keeping those he cared most about safe from any slight harm.

She tried not to laugh when Daisuke stared at the thrown toy for a few seconds, before he turned his head in disinterest and struggled some more against the drawer, but completely lost it as she risked a glance to her husband, finding him baffled and affronted.

"I think," she said, bumping her shoulder to his own, "that his curiosity is a really good thing." When Sasuke looked at her like she was insane, she smiled and giggled, before she went on, "Think about it. He'll be the best in his class because he'll always be reading any book he can get his hands on. He won't let any tiny, seemingly insignificant detail get past him. He'll be more open-minded than most—which means he'll accept everyone and everyone will love him for it."

Sasuke looked unconvinced, unsure.

"He could stumble upon something bad and not know it," he murmured, thinking about his son, older but too naïve and curious, coming upon rogue ninjas in the training grounds, and attempting friendly chit chat because he'd too curious to find who these new ninjas are and why he hadn't met them yet. He wouldn't dare think about the slaughter that would ensue in such a case.

"He's a dreamer, Sakura," he went on. "He wants to know everything and everyone and how every little thing works, he—"

He cut himself off, swallowing the lump in his throat. He scares me, she could read on his expression. He worries me.

He smiled lightly when Daisuke turned to them both, blubbering an exclamation that sounded an awful lot like he was confused and frustrated at the same time. He was likely not understanding why the drawer wouldn't open to him.

"Da!"

Opening his arms wide, Sasuke beckoned him over, murmuring, "Come here, you little monster."

Her eyes softened as their baby gave one last look at the drawer, blinking once, twice, before he turned back and waddled over to his father in quick, almost unsteady steps, bursting into giggles when Sasuke scooped him up and kissed his chubby cheek, before settling him down on his lap and wrapping his arms loosely around him. Her heart thudded almost painfully at the conflicted frown on his lips, as he looked down at his little boy, features expressing clearly, I worry for his safety.

He would always worry the most for the well-being of his new little family, Sakura knew. The impact of the massacre would last a lifetime on him—not that they ever expected otherwise. She suspected Sasuke would need some reassurance every once in a while, some comfort and hopes that they would be alright.

Like now.

Pressing a soft kiss to his jaw, Sakura grabbed her husband's chin and thumbed it gently, before smiling and saying near-teasingly, "Sasuke, with my brains, your skills and your intimidating Uchiha looks, do you really think people are gonna want to even mess with him?" She grinned lightly, the tips of her lips tickling his skin. "He'll be the best combat-med nin this country has ever seen."

Lips quirking upwards, Sasuke raised a hand to brush a lock of pink hair out of her face, looking at her proudly, basically beaming with agreement, before he felt his son wiggle out of his lap, reaching for the colored story book laying in front of his mother. Then, he seemed to notice something further away and made a found of surprise, crawling quickly on his feet in excitement.

Slightly entertained, Sasuke made a little sound before he reached for him.

"I think we might have to chain him down someday," he joked to his wife, pulling their son back into him while he fetched dino-chan at his side. He shook his head when Daisuke pushed it away the moment he offered it, whining and scrunching his face, displeased. He tried to scramble away from his father when Sasuke put the toy away, all too interested in whatever had caught his attention across the room earlier.

"Don't be rude, Sasuke-kun," Sakura chided, looking serious and full of reprimand. Then, she grinned and playfully hit him on his shoulder. "They invented those child leashes for a reason."

Completely taken by surprise, his eyes widened, and a snort left his mouth, before he shook his head and laughed softly. His amusement and blatant happiness were so contagious that her grin grew wider, goofier, prompting her to grip his chin again so she could peck his lips, the broad smile never fading. The feel of her mouth on his quieted him a bit, but the tiny smile still maintained as he tilted his head and leaned towards her, nudging his nose to hers. Then, he drew her in for a long, chaste kiss that had her sighing in contentment, body melting under the warmth of his affection.

Sakura shifted on the carpet to push herself closer, one hand bracing on the floor while the other found his hand, reaching underneath and brushing against their boy lovingly before she intertwined their fingers together. She smiled just a little bit more as his hand squeezed hers firmly, mouth moving even more gently against hers.

The moment however broke as a tiny hand patted their chins, another tugging at Sasuke's collar, and when they looked down, they couldn't help but to be amused by the look of wonderment and curiosity on their child's face, his mouth dropped open like he had been fascinated about what they were doing.

"Da!"

His small hands were still high in the air, still reaching to try and touch their chins, and Sakura couldn't help but to giggle, as she leaned in and nuzzled her face to his.

"Oh, you're definitely too curious for your own good if you're gonna keep interrupting mommy and daddy during these precious moments!"

Daisuke giggled happily, throwing his arms around her neck, and she grinned, taking him from her husband before she looked up at the latter and winked mischievously. "We better hope he doesn't keep that habit during more… pressing times."

The stunned look Sasuke gave her in response only served to widen her grin some more, and she laughed again, laying her son down softly on the carpet before she went for a tickle attack, sending the baby in a burst of giggles and happy cries, as her husband watched on with a slight frown, as if caught up in the horrific possibility that yes, their monster of a son could very likely walk in on them some day and ruin what could have been a perfect, pleasure-hazed night.

With narrowed eyes, he growled, "He better not."
