WHAT UP!
Well, this is just a filler chapter for the party to come next, but I thought that it might be kind of cute. Ally will be looking at maternity clothes, while Austin…well, just wait and see.

Chapter 4
Ally & Austin Go Shopping
Ally's POV:
I got out bed that morning a little slower than I usually do. It wasn't my fault; I blame this baby growing inside me. Ever since I got pregnant, it seems like I've been sleeping a lot more than I usually do. It's also becoming a lot harder to disguise my baby bump for the last few weeks.
"You know if you could stay small for just a little longer, mommy would really appreciate it." I said to my stomach as I sat up in bed. All I really wanted today was to stay in bed for a little longer, but I had to get up and get dressed to work at Sonic Boom for a couple of hours.
I, despite my drowsiness, managed to get a shower and got dressed in a somewhat tight black pencil skirt that had a bit of an elastic waist band to it to allow my bump to breath. I also put on a long blue and white print tank top underneath a long, loose fitting violet baby doll shirt with bejeweled sleeves on my shoulders.
Baby doll tees and shirts have become my go-to staple in my wardrobe now a day. They were the easiest things to hide my baby bump, but they also flattered my figure without being too obvious. Plus, they are really adorable.
I curled my chestnut hair, put on my makeup and proceeded to walk downstairs for breakfast. When I got downstairs Elliot was already waiting with a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal. I guess mom had to head for work early.
"So, didn't want to try and cook breakfast or have you finally come to your senses about your inability to cook?" I teased him. He simply shrugged me off and resumed eating his breakfast.
I moved to the refrigerator and grabbed the carton of orange juice, a glass and an apple. I didn't want to over eat; lest Elliot begin to suspect anything, but when you're eating for two it's not easy. I'll grab something at the food court before I start work. As I was eating I could feel Elliot staring at me. I turned to look at him,
"What? Do I have something on my face?" I asked.
"No, it's just something about you seems… I don't know…off." He said. Oh God.
"What do you mean, I'm still the same me; same, old, dorky little sister Ally, nothing really different or changed, no not at all!" I said with that same nervous laugh. Can I be any more obvious?
"Well, it's just, one minute you can't eat anything and you're throwing up, the next you can't help but stuff your face." He stopped eating and placed a hand over mine. I looked at his face as he said, "Ally, I want you to be completely and totally honesty with me when I ask you this." Oh boy, here it comes, "Are you developing an eating disorder?"
Wait, what?
"An eating disorder, you think I've developed an eating disorder?" I asked.
"Well, you've had all the signs and you're tired more than you usually are, so I figured that was what happened." I couldn't hold back what happened next, I burst out laughing. Through my bleary eyes, I could see the incredulous look on Elliot's face, "Ally, this is a serious matter, how can you be laughing at this?!" He yelled. I finally calmed down enough to answer back.
"Because, Elli, I don't have an eating disorder, I've just been sick for the past couple of weeks." I said wiping the tears from my eyes. His face somewhat softened.
"Are you sure? As your brother, I just want to make sure you're okay. You know I worry about you." He said.
"Elli, I'm fine, it was just the stress of the new school year, looking at colleges that I let it all get to me. I promise I'm fine." That seemed to calm him down a little, thankfully. We both resumed eating our breakfast until my phone buzzed.
I picked it up and saw it was a text from Trish.
Hey, I'll meet you at Sonic Boom around noon. I've decided to surprise you!
A surprise, okay now that does not sound like Trish. She knows I hate surprises, but I guess I'll go along with it. I typed back a simple 'OK', threw my trash away, and proceeded to walk out the door. I bid farewell to Elliot and walked to my car.
The drive to the mall was a long one and by the time I got inside I was dying for a drink. So, I walked over to the coffee shop and grabbed a large bottle of water. Normally I would a grab a Frappuccino, but with a baby, caffeine is a definite no-no.
"Ally, is that you?" I heard someone say. I turned around and saw Elliot's friend, Dallas, standing there with a coffee in his hand.
"Oh hey Dallas, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"I work at the cell phone accessory cart, at least until I can find a better job. College students aren't exactly rich." He said, a light chuckle escaping his lips.
"Yeah, I guess so. Oh, you're coming to my parent's party right?" I asked. I was just trying to nice and then I realized that if he didn't know, I'd probably be looking like a real jerk. However,
"Yeah, Elliot told me about me and I can't wait to come." He smiled at me and I smiled back. "Speaking of the party, I was kind of wondering if you would, maybe, like to go with me to the party."
"As your date or friend because if as a date I have to say that I'm flattered, but as one of the hosts I don't think it would be proper." Oh god, I'm rambling again, "Do you understand?" I watched him try to take all I said in until he finally smiled back at me and shook his head.
"Yeah, you're right, so I guess I'll see you then?" I nodded my head and we departed ways. I had to hurry or I would be late to start my shift and I'am never late for anything.
When I did arrive at the store, I was met with a somewhat full day of customers; selling guitars, violins and telling people not to touch anything or eat in the store. Honestly, don't people listen to the rules anymore? I also managed to get in a couple of piano lessons, flute lessons, violin lessons etc. until my feet felt like they were about to fall off. Towards noon I finally managed to sit down and take my shoes off for a while. My feet began to look like Baymax hands and my back hurts so thank you pregnancy.
"Guess who got a job at Two Peas in a Pod?" I knew only one person who says that. I looked up from rubbing my feet and saw Trish dressed in a pair of khaki pants rolled up to above the ankle with a white collared shirt and a blue smock over it. Her white slip on shoes looked a little washed out compared to the headband with baby bottles, onesies, and…is that a Mardi Gras baby? What job did she get this time?
I walked, barefoot over to her and looked over her outfit once more.
"Where are you working this week, Trish?"
"Well that is actually a part of my surprise for you." She said walking to the counter. I raised an eyebrow at that.
"What surprise are you planning?" I asked folding my arms in front of my chest.
"Ally, you're almost three months pregnant and starting to show, so it's time to go shopping for maternity clothes!" She yelled. I ducked when she did, moving my head back and forth looking for my dad. I pulled her upstairs to the practice room and closed the door behind us.
"First of all, mind your voice next time. You never know where my dad could be and this is not how I want to tell him." I took a breath in to calm myself; stress is another thing that is not good for a baby and continued. "Second of all, what makes you think I need maternity clothes? All of my clothes fit fine right now."
"That's the thing, Ally, all your clothes fit now. That bump is gonna get bigger and bigger and the clothes you have right now are not made for that." I got to give it to her there. "Besides the clothes aren't really that bad, in fact some of them are really cute. There was this wrap dress with Asian Cheetah print on it and, trust me, if I was pregnant that would be the first thing in my shopping cart." Oh Trish and her love of all things print. "There's even some lingerie for when you and Austin start to get frisky." I shook my head at her. Of course she would bring that up.
I really wish she hadn't of walked in on me and Austin when he was just at that one spot where he drove me wild. Then Trish had to come in and ruin all of it.
"So, will you come with me? I get a 10% employee discount on everything in the store, so it would be somewhat cheaper than buying full price." She seemed to be dead set on getting me go, so I caved.
"Alright, but only for a little while, I have to be back before we close." She jumped up and down and told me she would be waiting by the door.
I grabbed a sticky note and left a note for dad to find, telling him that I was taking my lunch break and that I would be back in an hour or two. After that we set forth for Two Peas in a Pod.
The shop was pretty amazing to say the least. It had everything from pants to dresses to skirts and everything else a pregnant lady may need. Trish immediately pulled me over to the dress rack as I needed a dress for tomorrow. Almost immediately Trish pulled out the wrap dress she was taking about before, but I shot it down before she could hand it to me. Prints like that were more her style than mine.
In the end I decided to buy a cute pink sequent dress that kind of hanged in the front and was tighter in the back. I also bought a several skirts, a few pairs of pants, baby dolls tees and several dresses. I also, reluctantly, bought a few pairs of lingerie because Trish wouldn't shut up about it until I did.
"Well, I think that's enough for now. We can come back another time and buy more when you can't fit into them." Trish said. I looked back at her with a smug look.
"Are you actually thinking about keeping this job longer than a day? Why, Trish-Kabob, I think I'am astounded." I said with a mocking tone towards the end.
"Please, I was supposed to be back from my break like an hour ago, I stacked the pile of 8 month blouses in an actual pile and I might have mouthed off to my boss a couple of minutes ago. So, I suggest we buy all of this before we don't have that discount anymore." We made our way to the cash register and handed the horde to the cashier. She looked at us for a moment and then shook her head. That's a little odd.
"So, a relative or older sister having a baby or are you here for a friend?" She asked as she scanned and folded the clothes we had handed her.
"Actually they're for me." I said. Most girls were afraid to admit that they're pregnant when they're my age, but I wasn't ashamed of my baby. She was born out of love not a drunken one stand.
"Oh, well that's a surprise; you certainly don't look the 'type' to be pregnant at such a young age." She said as she bagged the clothes and handed them to us. I was taken aback by what she said.
"Is it because of my age or is it-"Before I could finish, I felt Trish hand the woman the money and begin pushing me out towards the door. I could feel the stares of the other woman in the store and it made me feel very uncomfortable.
Since I had stepped foot in that into the store, any other pregnant woman that walked past me would look at me and shake their heads or give me a disappointed look. I felt so furious by all of that. Yes, I got pregnant, but at least my boyfriend is there for me and our baby. Trish was able to calm me down and we decided to get some lunch in before returning to the store. After ordering and receiving our food, we sat down to talk and catch up.
"So, how are you and Jace doing?" I asked, eating a forkful of salad. Her face dropped all of sudden to sadness.
"Actually, Jace and I decided to take a break for a while." I felt my eyes widen in disbelief. Jace and Trish were perfect for each other; he didn't mind the fact that she was loud and disrespectful, in fact, he said that was what he really liked about her. I thought they would never break up.
"What happened, did you break up with him or did he break up with you?" I said, trying my best to comfort my best friend.
"No, no nothing like that at all. We both decided that this long-distance relationship was just too hard for either of us, so we decided to end it." She said. I could tell that the decision really must have hurt her because she really did like Jace a lot, but I guess long-distance really can hurt if you're not prepared for it.
We finished our lunch so I decided to head back to Sonic Boom to finish my shift. I hid my shopping bags in the practice room and went back to work. By the time my dad came back to relieve me of my shift, I felt like I was ready to pass out. Being on your feet and being pregnant is no picnic, let me tell you. I headed back to my Prius when my phone began to ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey Ally, it's Dez, Austin's friend. Listen, I just wanted to ask you, what size ring do you wear?"
Excuse me? Why would Dez want to know what size ring I wear?
"Um, why would you need to know that?"
"Well, you see I'm doing this scene for a new short film I'm directing and I need to get a good idea of what a-"
Oh boy, this is last thing I need to hear right now.
"Okay, okay I'm a size 6! I got to go, call me later!"
And I hung up the phone. I then realized that how mean that sounded, but all I wanted to do right now was get home and put my feet up. If he asked me about it, I'll just say it was a pregnancy mood swing.
I got in the car, started it and drove off.
Austin's POV:
"Well that was rude." Dez said as he hung up his phone. "But I did manage to get her ring size and I did it without revealing what we're doing." Yeah, great job with that.
"Well at least I can get this done." I turned around and went back to what I was originally doing.
"Do you see anything you like, sir or are you looking for one kind of ring in particular?" The sales man asked me. I looked into the display case at the multitude of rings they have, but each one was either really over decorated or too under decorated.
I looked back at the salesman and asked,
"I want something simple, something that says 'I love you' without being garish and really out there." He nodded and walked away from the display case. I heaved a sigh and leaned against the display case.
"What if I don't find the right one?" I said a little discouraged. Dez placed a hand on my shoulder and said,
"Don't worry man; Ally will love whatever you decide to get her. You two love each other and that's all that should matter." I felt a little better, "Unless of course you propose and then she shoots you down, decides that you're moving too fast and leaves you because of it. Boy would that be rough."
"Dez, remember how we said to think about what you say before you say it?" I asked. He shook his head in agreement. "Well, use it sometime, okay?"
"Sir," I heard the salesman behind me say. I turned back around and saw him holding a black velvet box in his hands. "I think you'll find this one to your liking." I took the box in my hands and opened it. This is the one.
It was simple, which is what I wanted, but I could see Ally's face in it. The band on each side made an infinity symbol that met in the middle where a half carat diamond was held in by much smaller ones. I felt a smile etched onto my face as I held it in my hand. I shook my head to the salesman and placed the opened box on the glass display case.
"I'll take it." He smiled at me and went off to ring it up for me.
"So, this is really going to happen?" I heard Dez ask as I paid for the ring. I smiled as I turned back to him.
"Yep, it is going to happen. I'm going to ask Ally to marry me." It was a big decision to make, but I knew it's the right one. I can't imagine my life without Ally and now, hopefully, I'll never have to.
Again, this is just a filler chapter for the next, but hopefully you enjoyed it. Remember to review for the next one.
Thanks.
