WHAT UP!
Hey everyone, Happy Thanksgiving! Now, usually eating a lot of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy would make me beyond sleepy, but it made me a burst of energy and creativity. These next couple of chapters will be holiday themed in preparation for the holidays. This is my Thanksgiving one followed by a Christmas one, so I hope it will help to get in the holiday spirit.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to Austin & Ally
Chapter 15
The Turkey Day
Waking up at 7:00 on a Thursday was not exactly Austin's, even at 22 years old, thing to do. Usually he would wake up at 9:00 to get ready for his classes at 11:00, but there were no classes today.
It was Thanksgiving today and he and Ally were expected to attend dinner with both of their families at the Moon's. To say Austin and Ally were excited for it would be telling the truth while lying at the same time. They both loved this holiday, Ally more so now considering she was pregnant, but it also meant the possibility of running into Austin's grandparents who were not Ally's biggest fans.
"C'mon, Ally, it's not gonna be that bad." Austin said as he straightened his black tie on his white button down. He was getting ready in the bathroom while Ally was situated in their bedroom where her vanity was set up.
"Austin, the last time I saw them, your grandmother called me a knocked up harlot and your grandfather kept asking me to meet him in the hall closet." Ally said as she pulled her red wrap dress with cap sleeves on, tying the sash over her baby bump. You could tell she was pregnant as her belly had become rounder and began to stick out.
She had pulled her hair up into a tight bun with a few pieces of hair hanging in the front and sat down in front of vanity to apply her makeup. She wasn't really a fan of wearing makeup too often, but today was special, so she kept it simple, yet still a little elegant. Shimmery brown eyeshadow, light red lip and mascara were enough for tonight.
"You know he was just joking." Austin said as he finished combing his hair. "Besides, my mom said that they're both stuck in New York due to some freak snow storm, so you have nothing to worry about."
"Well," Ally said as she finished applying her makeup and jewelry. "That's one thing I can be thankful for." She stood up from her vanity and grabbed her black military style jacket from the closet. Austin gave a small smile as he pulled on his dress jacket and then moved over to help Ally put on hers.
They may live in Miami, but it can still get a little chilly and Austin didn't want Ally or Aria to get cold.
"That's not the only thing, right?" Austin asked as he hugged Ally from behind. She gave a little giggle as he placed a few kisses on her neck and turned her head to face him.
"It's one of many things I'm thankful for this year." She said. They shared a quit kiss before Ally grabbed her black ballet flats, her ankles had begun to swell a little making it hard to wear anything with a heel, and they both headed out the door.
After the ride from their apartment, Austin and Ally had arrived at Mike and Mimi's. Ally's parents were already there and her brother had been let out of his rehab facility to come and celebrate the holidays. However, there would be no alcohol as no one wanted Elliot to face any temptation of a relapse. Ally was just happy that Elliot was finally warming up her and Austin again. He had even gone so far as to give them a baby gift for Aria.
"By the way," Ally asked as they walked up the yard to the front door. "When are you going to show me Aria's nursery?"
"That, my dear, is to remain a secret until we bring our baby girl home." Austin said.
Let me catch you up, after Elliot's episode at the hospital, Austin's music video had dropped onto his YouTube and VEVO channel, changing the flow of his career. The video had gotten more than 10,000 views in under an hour and now people had begun to talk about him and his upcoming album. Due to the video and press, Jimmy had given Austin a little bonus money, if around $5,000 is considered little. When he came home that night, Ally was surprised to see Austin had returned with cardboard boxes that were filled with paint, decals, a crib, changing table, and much more. Ally had asked him what it was for and Austin had said that he wanted to do Aria's nursery. Ally, knowing Austin's mechanical skills were zero to none, was a little afraid, but Austin just reassured her that everything would be okay. However,
"Come on," Ally whined. "I'm the mother of your child; you have to at least tell me what the theme is?" Austin gave a face, as if trying to actually contemplate it, before he sighed and gave in.
"Alright," He said as he leaned down to whisper in her ear. "The theme is…" Ally waited with baited breath as Austin continued to talk. "Not telling." And then he took off for the door. Ally gave a surprised face as she saw Austin running up the yard and shook her head in annoyance as she walked up the rest of the way.
Austin was actually waiting for her at the door and when she got to him, he opened the door and they walked into the entrance way of the house. Austin took his jacket off, hung it up and then proceeded to help Ally take hers off and then hang it up as well. Ally stopped and lifted her head up to smell the air around her as she smelled all of the holiday flavors.
Pumpkin spice, buttery tang of the turkey in the oven, the rich and herby scent of the gravy made with pan drippings, were what she had been waiting for since before she became pregnant. She knew Mimi was a good cook, but she seemed to have outdone herself by the smells alone.
Austin and Ally, after hanging up their jackets, walked through the front entrance way and towards the sound of voices coming from the living room.
"Hey everyone!" Austin said when they walked through into the living room. Everyone included Ally's parents and brother plus Trish, Dez and Dez's new girlfriend, Carrie. Ally had only heard about her and now that she actually met her, she could see the attraction between her and Dez.
They had been enveloped by hugs from everyone in the room followed by Mimi and Mike, who had been in the kitchen.
"Alright everyone," Mimi said as she turned back for the kitchen. "Please enjoy the appetizers and dinner will be served in just 10 minutes." And then she disappeared into the kitchen again. The room gave a collective laugh because at some point each one of them had tried to help her, but each of them had been thrown out with her saying, 'Get the hell out of my kitchen before I stuff you with this cranberry sauce.' Needless to say, everyone had stopped trying after that.
Austin, Ally, Trish, Dez and Carrie had taken to sitting on the couch and then being bombarded with questions from Carrie. She would ask things like how did Ally and Austin get together, how far along was she and then she would go off on little tangents of her own. She seemed to be a little scatter brained with a weird sense of style, being dressed in basically all of the colors of the rainbow from head to toe, but then she looked at Dez. They were basically each other, just opposite genders.
Lester, Penny and Elliot had gotten their time with the young couple after their friends. Ally had of course asked Elliot how he was doing after his stay in the hospital. He explained that he's been going to all of his AA meetings and therapy sessions and he seemed to be making some progress in his favor. He no longer went to a beer to coup with his anxieties or frustrations and their parents had made it known that they stood behind him 100%, which helped immensely. He had also managed to catch up in his classes, but his admission to his fraternity had been postponed until he got better. However, they had reassured him that he would be welcomed back once he was stable. She was glad to hear that everything was looking up for everyone so far and hopefully it would stay that way.
Everyone turned their heads when Mimi came back into the room, her apron gone and a smile on her face.
"Alright, Thanksgiving dinner is now served." And everyone got up from their seats, Austin helping Ally to stand as they did, and made their way into the dining room.
The long dining table was decorated with a dark red table cloth that had cornucopias filled with fall leaves, small pumpkins and those little turkeys with the pilgrim hats and neck ties. Two candle holders with white candles stood in the middle and all of the food had been placed on the buffet next to the table. The turkey had already been cut up and separated into white and dark meat which made it easier to choose.
Ally didn't really have a preference, all she cared about was filling her pregnant belly with turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, all covered in Mimi's homemade gravy. They all lined up at the buffet with their plates and began filling up their plates. They then found their spots to sit which had been marked by their own little cornucopias with their own name tags. Ally and Austin had been sat together on the right side of the table near the head with Elliot sitting next to Ally followed by their parents; Mike and Mimi were sat at the head while Trish, Dez and Carrie were sat on the other side. They said a short prayer before tucking into their food.
"Alright," Penny said as she finished a bite of turkey. "Seeing as it's the season of being thankful, I want all of us to go around the table and say what were thankful for. For me, I'm thankful for my loving husband, my handsome son and, of course, my beautiful daughter, future son-in-law, and soon to be granddaughter. Lester?" He gave a slight cough before saying what he was thankful for.
"I'm thankful as well for my lovely wife, my strong son and my loving daughter, her fiancé and their daughter, as well as my business, which does not have a Black Friday sale by the way." The table erupted in a small bout of laughter at that, knowing how cheap and stingy Lester was. Austin could feel a slight blush at what they said and then realized that it was his turn.
"I'm thankful for my parents, my friends, my career and most of all, my beautiful fiancé and our baby girl." They shared a smile before leaning in for a quick peck on the lips.
"I'm thankful for my parents, my brother, my friends, my loving fiancé and our beautiful little girl." And again, another smile and then a quick peck on the lips.
"I'm thankful for my parents, my sister, my soon to be brother-in-law and my soon to be born niece." Elliot said. "But, mostly I'm thankful for all the support from everyone while I was in the hospital."
"Well," Mike said as he finished chewing and then wiped his mouth. "Like Lester, I'm thankful for my wife, my son, my future daughter-in-law and our soon to be born granddaughter."
"I'm thankful for meeting my Dezziekins," Carrie said as she and Dez shared a nose kissed. "And for my health and my family, but mostly for my Dezziekins." And then they shared another nose kiss.
"I'm thankful for my family, friends and my budding career as Austin's music video director." Dez said. "And also for my sweet girlfriend Carrie." And again, another nose kisses between the couple.
"I'm thankful for my gag reflex being strong enough to stand this." Trish said as she pointed to Dez and Carrie.
The rest of the evening had been filled with more laughter, eating delicious food and talking about other things that they were thankful for. By the end of the night, Austin had to carry Ally to the car as she had fallen asleep, probably from eating a lot of food. She had woken up just as they were getting home and went to remove her makeup, jewelry, undo her hair and pull her dress off to prepare for bed. Once she got her pajamas on and crawled into bed, she was out like a light.
All Austin could think about was how hectic their lives had been so far and to have this one day of rest was just awesome. He was happy to see Ally fall asleep without a worried look on her face and even happier to have a full belly to help make him fall asleep. He kissed Ally's forehead, pulled her closer to him and feel sound asleep that night.
Just a short filler chapter for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I hoped you enjoyed it. A Christmas one is to follow this one and then a New Year's one as well. Also, as I write this, I realize that there are only three episodes of Austin & Ally left… I'M NOT EMOTIONALLY PREPARED!
Thanks and remember, STAY ROSSOME!
