A.N. So, for anyone who read the first rendition of this, I intend to update all chapters and upload a new one. Thank you to everyone who has kept reviewing and favoriting it has sincerely meant a lot. It is the reason I've decided to continue this story!

O.G. A.N. This is set in the Netflix show Anne with an E this is set after Anne went back to school after she broke the slate over Gilbert's head

On her way to school, Anne met the one person who she absolutely loathed the idea of seeing "Carrots, hey carrots, wait up!" He yelled after her as he jogged to try to catch up with Anne, who was trying to walk as fast as she could to ignore him.

"Come on, Anne, slow down a second! I'm sorry about the other day. I shouldn't have done that! I'm glad to see you're back!" Gilbert had now started to catch up to her and grabbed her arm to stop her

Anne whips around and begins to shout at him, "Go away. I don't like you, and I am not allowed to talk to you, so just go away!"

Gilbert stares at her first in shock, then his face softens, and he lets out a low light chuckle.

"what?! What could it possibly be?" she shouts in his face.

He smirks and says, "you know you use a lot less big words when you're upset, although I've never seen your big words anything less than- well...uh, they certainly making catching up to you in school harder."

It made Anne's blood BOIL that Gilbert Blythe could POSSIBLY make her feel anything, let alone upset and, and... Well flustered, was she? No, she couldn't possibly be. Oh, how dare he! "Just go away! Please!" she cried.

Gilbert stared at her for a moment as they walked in silence. he eventually broke the silence and said, "fine, I will leave you alone but… on one condition."

She scoffed and turned away; she thought about just taking off and ignoring him forever, but she turned to him. "Fine, what is it" she responded curtly.

"Give me a good reason why and I will go away at once, ignore you forever if that's what you want," Gilbert said with hope in his eyes, his eyebrows knit together, and his jaw tightened.

"Fine," Anne snapped. "I'm not supposed to talk to you!"

Gilbert paused for a moment before responding, "And who is it that forbids you speaking to me?"

Anne tightened up her entire face. She had just gained the girl's trust and didn't want to lose it, but something deep inside her wanted to tell gilbert; she couldn't understand why but it called out to her; she loosened her body. She said: "The girls at school they said that we aren't supposed to talk to any of the boys and rub- people don't like the idea of me talking to you and even if I was allowed why would I want to your- well I simply wouldn't!"

His face faltered, the hope in his eyes that was there a moment ago was dimmer. Still, he held his head up and began, "well, if you did want to, maybe we could not talk at school so you wouldn't be breaking promises, and I understand you're upset I would be too if I were treated the I did to you I didn't mean to offend you so deeply I am truly sorry" he shifted his hand that he had been holding in his pocket and took something out "I um got you something as a token of my apologies" he held out his hand with a small bouquet of forget-me-nots.

Anne stopped dead in her tracks. She stared at him, making eye contact for perhaps a little too long before taking the flowers from his hand, accidentally brushing his hand as she took them. "Why they are absolutely splendid. No one has ever done something so- thank you."

Gilbert soaked up every moment she looked at him like that. If he could have her look at him like that forever, he would set the world on fire to get it, "they used to be my mom's favorites. She had a bed of them right outside the house, and every spring, they bloom like a sea. I do hope you can forgive me and we could become friends."

She didn't understand the way he looked at her. It wasn't something she was familiar with. Perhaps that's what it looks like when someone actually wants to be friends with you. She wouldn't know she never had real friends before she arrived in Avonlea. Anne Stared at him wide-eyed and spoke in a soft tone that was uncommon for her "well, perhaps it's something worth considering b-but, I really do need to get to school, so I um really ought to be going now." She took off. She didn't quite realize she was running until she hit the school and was out of breath. She took one last look at the quaint ragged bouquet in her hand and shoved it in her pocket.

A.N. I mostly kept the theme the same. But, I gave Gil and Anne more chemistry and re-wrote the parts I thought were clunky and made me want to light myself on fire. Also, I'm sorry if this feels a little out of place for them; I was more inspired by how they interact in the books, also Anne is hot-headed and stubborn I needed to add some reason for her to forgive him. anyway, I hope you enjoyed it and keep reading!
