"Whoa. What is this?"

"What is what?" said Kit, peaking his head into the room. Emma held up a crumpled, slightly torn receipt.

Kit and Ty were moving into a larger room in the institute since they were now officially engaged and neither of their previous rooms were large enough for the both of them to live comfortably. Naturally, when it came to helping Kit move out, Emma could not pass up the opportunity to go through all his stuff. Sometimes Kit wondered if she went through everyone's stuff even when they weren't moving out, just because she was so curious.

"Were you buying a secret getaway car from this Jarred guy?" Emma questioned, referring to the name of the jewelry store. "Cause this is a butt load of money!"

Kit walked over and looked at the paper in her hand. He laughed. "wow. I kept that."

"What is it?"

"That's the receipt for Ty's engagement ring." Kit explained.

"Oh." Emma looked down at the paper and then frowned again, "No… Are you sure? The date on this says it was bought more than four years ago. You guys weren't even together till two years ago."

Kit smiled softly and took the receipt from Emma, "Yea, I know." The love for his fiancée was evident in his voice. "When we went back to my house to get my things after all that mess with Anabelle and Malcom was over and I found my dad's stash I wanted to take everything from my old life and transform it into something for my future that would sort of bind the two together. Also, it was after I talked to Tessa and she told me about the way that most Herondales fall in love. Ya know, the love-at-first-sight-only-they-will-do kind of thing that seems to happen to us, and I already kind of knew that the second I meat Ty even without her telling me, so… Yea. I was a really hopeful sixteen-year-old I guess."

Kit put the receipt back onto his pocked. "Either that, or really angsty and thinking about how tragically romantic it would be for me to spend the rest of my life next to the man I loved without him ever knowing or returning my feelings and me carrying that ring with me everywhere." He smiled and turned back to the boxes scattered about the room. "So where did you pack my comic books again?"

"Right over there." Emma pointed, trying discretely to wipe the tears away from her eyes. Love was beautiful, and she was debating how exactly she was going to announce to the rest of the institute just how much of a sappy teenager Kit had been.
