Remnants of the Wild
Epona and Naydra
"Delivery for a Mr. Jaune Arc." A voice at the door got Jaune's attention and he opened the door to see a postman holding a brown horse with dark skin on her snout. Her white mane, tail, and marking around her hooves shone in the little light among the rain pouring down. She was a draft horse of some kind, built for both power and speed.
"A horse for me?" Jaune said, raising an eyebrow.
"It was sent to us with a note that it went specifically to you." The postman said, as the horse nudged him with her snout, "And it seems like she likes you." As the postman had him sign off on the horse, the others watched as the horse snorted at them, rubbing against Jaune's shoulder as she even licked his hand a few times like a dog.
"She's adorable!" Weiss squealed, before quickly composing herself. Jaune swung himself onto the horse's back and rode her out of town. As soon as he was out of the town borders, he encouraged the horse to move quicker. He nearly fell off at the sudden burst of speed from the beautiful draft mare.
Not to insult his first horse, but this one had better stamina with the same speed! She also had more power!
A bokoblin tried to attack him, but it found itself crushed under the mare's hooves as she kept moving forward at that quick speed. Within a couple hours, she had made the trip to the Dueling Peaks Stable. He paid the registration fee, and then...he saw an interesting reaction from Tasseren, the stable manager.
"OK, please enter a name for your hors-" Tasseren paused as his eyes bugged out as he took in the mare's appearance, "...Wait a minute! Isn't that Epona, the horse of legend? What are you thinking?! You can't rename a horse of legend! Pretty sure there's a law against that."
"So keep the name." Jaune said, having Epona placed into the stable after feeding her a few apples, which got a grateful lick on the cheek from the horse after she tried "grooming" his hair; only to mess it up. After she was safely in the stable's care, Jaune made an Enduring Elixir, and an Energizing Elixir. Still, before he teleported back, Jaune pondered who would give HIM of all people a horse of legend.
After reappearing in Hateno, Jaune picked up some groceries and started making dinner for the group, a nice stir-fry. Yang kept trying to sneak a taste while it was being prepared, and Pyrrha often got in the way trying to help by moving pans. Things only got more difficult when Blake decided to "help" Yang as she saw mighty porgy (a Hyrule fish species) being added to the stir-fry.
Weiss eventually came to his rescue as she summoned her lizalfos made of ice to pull Yang and Blake away so Jaune could finish cooking. Once he set down the stir-fry, it quickly vanished as everyone ate their fill...until...
"COOKIES!" Ruby shouted as she zoomed up the stairway, the smell of the desert; strawberry chocolate chip cookies, wafting through the house. The pile of cooling cookies soon vanished in a flurry of rose petals, as Jaune only managed to save enough for everyone else to have one. However...he had forgotten something.
Nora + Sugar = bad idea.
Now he had two ladies suffering from a sugar rush as they tore through the house.
The next morning, they teleported to the Central Hyrule Tower, close to where an unmarked region of the map was. As Jaune zoomed in on the tower he had marked earlier in that unknown region, he noticed Hylian lettering within the pin. He then read what it said out loud. "It's dangerous to go alone."
"What?" Blake asked while raising an eyebrow.
"The pin, it has words in Hylian. That's what it says." Jaune replied as the others took out their scopes and read it for themselves. A black hinox they came across with was easily dispatched, especially after a couple uses of Urbosa's Fury to stun it. Jaune picked up a durability enhanced royal broadsword, a damage enchanted knight's halberd, and a royal bow after the beast fell. Deer ran off in different directions as they followed the pathway. A Guardian attacked them, but Jaune perfectly deflected each laser beam back to it's eye until it finally fell over and exploded into parts, only using a Guardian shield +.
"I can see why the Deku Tree said Jaune was stronger after the trial now." Yang breathed out in awe. Not only did the Guardian take them off the path, but it inadvertently allowed them to discover the Katah Chuki Shrine. It became obvious to everyone that he faced a Test of Strength as he came out without the now broken knight's halberd and Guardian shield + after recieving his second Spirit Orb, as the laser blasts would do a lot to it's durability and each Guardian had an "outer shell" made of stone. Yet, he came out with a royal halberd. Continuing onward, they passed ruins of a few homes when the shrine sensor went off again. As they approached a rocky hill, Jaune remembered the words of the old man in Lurelin Village, activating Magnesis. A chest appeared on his scroll, in the river nearby, and it contained 100 rupees when he pulled it out.
Making it to a side of the hill covered in thorns, Ren's keen eyes spotted a pile of rocks, and he notched a bomb arrow. The explosion not only destroyed the rocks blocking the shrine, but also lit the thorns on fire. Inside the cave, next to the shrine, were crates of food and supplies, such as blackened crab, apples, arrows, and a few rupees with three bundles of wood. After a minor Test of Strength, they found a Korok by the Carok Bridge leading to that uncharted region.
After clearing out two skull-shaped rock formations filled with blue and black bokoblins, Jaune used the cooking pot to make two Hearty Meaty Rice Balls servings, a Tough Prime Meat and Seafood Fry, and an Energizing Glazed Meat. Afterwards, they discovered a shrine in that canyon. This meant they had found half of the shrines Jaune was told about. After emerging with his Fourth Spirit Orb, Jaune teleported to Hateno Village to pray at a Goddess Statue. However, instead of unlocking another chunk of Aura, a gold and green teardrop-shaped vessel descended onto him and he glowed green as he felt his stamina slightly increase.
He nodded to himself, and teleported back to the Shrine, meeting the group there with a lopsided smile. "Stamina increase." He simply said, gazing at the tower in the distance. Eventually making their way up...they found the tower...
In the middle of a lake, with black lizalfos patrolling the outer edges, yellow lizalfos swimming in the water, and electric wizrobes prancing around it, all while it rained. To add to the danger, the black lizalfos carried bows with shock arrows. While his friends took care of the lizalfos around the lake, Jaune used Cryonis to make platforms on the lake and took out the yellow lizalfos and two electric wizrobes with most of his bomb arrows after the rain stopped.
As Jaune started climbing the tower, Nora was having a blast absorbing the electricity from the shock arrows. Plus, the look of sheer horror on the faces of the lizalfos was poetic right before her Cobble Crusher, well, crushed them.
As the Ridgeland Tower activated and downloaded the area map to their scrolls, Jaune looked at the plateau nearby, where a constant thunderstorm hovered. He felt something within him resonating with that; possibly a trial leading to a Shrine...but he did not feel ready.
Perhaps he could convince Riju to let him borrow the Thunder Helm temporarily?
Still, he wanted to find the last memory and Rito Village before he did so. They would be quick travel locations for when Revali was healed. After helping a lady traveler from a bokoblin, she gave Jaune a cooking ingredient known as Monster Extract. She mentioned it was something Kilton invented. He had to gulp down a Hearty Elixir after a Yiga swordsman ambushed the group and nearly sliced into Yang from behind as he took the blow to his Aura. Continuing along a well-worn trail, Jaune used the scope to pin the location of a nearby tower and a Shrine. The trip was dangerous, but not because of monsters.
Despite the death of Master Kohga, the Yiga Clan were becoming more and more active.
As they climbed a nearby cliff close to another uncharted region, they found a shrine hiding on the other side overlooking a stable. After Jaune emerged, they moved to the Tabantha Bridge Stable to rest for the night. A man in the stable told Jaune about a Great Fairy on the other side of the Bridge, and gave him 500 rupees to give to her. He then talked to the traveling painter, Pikango. Jaune showed him the last spot yet to be visited.
"Ah, these are...the ancient columns." Pikango said, "If you cross the Tabanth Great Bridge over there, there's a large cliff to the south. The ruins are atop that cliff." Not only that, but there was a Shrine visible in the picture. At 5 am, Jaune awoke from his place by the campfire, and saw the others waiting on him. They were all excited; there was only one memory location left AND three uncharted areas of the main land of Hyrule. The Districts of Remnant formed a "border" around the main portion.
Crossing the bridge showed that it was surprisingly run down, with places where the bridge had holes in it. What caused these holes were unknown, but they had to stick to the middle of the bridge, lest they fall through a hole to the canyon below. As they climbed the cliff to the ancient columns, a flying Guardian patrolled the pathway below them.
After they arrived at the spot, Jaune looked at the picture, before looking back up, gasping as a memory returned.
Zelda touched a Sheikah Scroll to the pedestal of the Shrine, noting that the structure was exclusively to be used by the Sword's chosen one, and was frustrated she couldn't get in as Link and Jaune arrived with Link and Zelda's horses, and she started scolding Link for following her father's orders, and then yelled at Link to stop following her, that he was a "mindless follower" and insulted his devotion to his role. Jaune face twisted in anger as Link seemed...confused by the outburst.
"Listen here, PRINCESS." Jaune spat out the last word as if it was poison, "My brother cares for you. He WILLINGLY accepted the offer of being your knight, and takes that role seriously."
"Can't he express that himself?!" Zelda yelled, pushing Link away and missing the look of hurt that briefly crossed his face before he schooled his expression...but Jaune didn't...and it made him angry.
"Excuse me? You don't know a THING about my brother!" Jaune shouted back at her as she recoiled, "For all you know, he could have been born mute or took a vow of silence!" He took a breath and turned away from Zelda. "People always told me about the kind, benevolent Princess and how much of an honor it is to guard her...but I don't see that...I see a spoiled brat taking out her frustrations on another person for DOING HIS JOB!" He yelled, picking up a rock and throwing it so it smashed against a pillar.
Jaune came out of that memory an clenched his fist while gritting his teeth. He still didn't know why Link would still purposefully put himself in harm's way...for her...
Why he would die for Zelda?
"What did you see in her that I missed?" Jaune whispered to himself, before moving to go into the shrine. Hopefully, if it was another Test of Strength, he would be given a way to vent his anger. He grinned when he heard the declaration of a Major Test of Strength within the Shrine.
When he came out, both of his windcleavers were broken, his royal halberd was broken, and his royal guard sword was broken. He had collected a knight's halberd with an attack enchantment, a Guardian sword ++, an ancient battle axe ++ with a durability increase enchantment, and a Guardian shield ++ with his second Spirit Orb. He also seemed a lot calmer.
"I wonder if he saw Zelda saying something mean to Link, like she wrote in her diary." Yang said to the rest of the group, "Jaune obviously saw Link as part of his family, and I wouldn't be happy if someone was insulting my little sister." Using the wind to their advantage, the paraglided over the two flying Guardians patrolling the pathway before landing near the end of the canyon.
Climbing the foothill to the tower, they grimace seeing Malice all around it. Seeing the bottom of the Tabantha Tower surrounded by that substance, they scouted around it to try and figure out a way to it. Overhead, they saw a stone, metal, and mechanical eagle flying around. The Divine Beast Vah Medoh was in sight...which also left the question of how they were going to board it when the time came.
Blake spotted a Malice Eye and pulled out her hardly used Phrenic Bow, shooting it. As it exploded, the pile of Malice around a stone tower vanished, and the stone fell onto the tower, forming a bridge. She quickly and nimbly moved to the impromptu stone bridge, wincing as a chunk of her Aura was drained as her foot brushed against Malice. She threw her warm doublet over her stealth outfit as the air temperature dropped below freezing the higher up she went. She activated Tabantha Tower and watched as the tower dropped the regional map into her scroll, which sent the same information to the others' scrolls as they teleported to the newly made travel gate.
"Hey! Isn't that the bulb the Kakariko Fairy was in?" Nora said, pointing at something to the south.
"It is." Ren said calmly before Nora pulled him into a tight hug. Jaune floated over on his paraglider and collected the flowers around the bulb before approaching it; the flowers being Mighty Thistles and Silent Princess. This was the Great Fairy Kaysa, and she needed 1,000 rupees to restore her strength. Jaune handed them over, having saved up 4,400 rupees. As the others arrived, Kaysa emerged from her flower spring. Jaune had his soldier's armor (along with Nora's soldier armor) and Hylian hood enhanced, as others had their entire Hylian Tunics enhanced. He, along with Blake and Ren, enhanced their stealth chest guards and stealth tights. He also had his radiant mask and radiant armor enhanced.
After that was done, they paraglided to the path below. By a rocky outcropping with a few trees, a stone talus emerged. Jaune quickly jumped onto it, dealing massive damage by swinging his iron sledgehammer in a circle followed by Urbosa's Fury, but then the beast shook itself and knocked Jaune off, before slamming it's rocky arm into Jaune and, what it seemed to everyone else, knocking him off the cliff.
However, Jaune leaped up, having landed onto a ledge just below it and climbed back up, finishing the beast by using Urbosa's Fury after swinging his sledgehammer around. The beast dropped ore as it exploded, Jaune falling to his knee from the momentum of landing after it exploded. It hadn't been too bad, the upgraded armor only allowing a single chunk of his Aura to take the blow-about the same amount of Aura he unlocked at a time. From that outcropping, they saw what looked like a town in a spiral going up a large rocky pillar. From a Lizalfos, Ren picked up a feathered edge. It was a light sword that didn't weigh down Rito warriors.
Finally arriving at Rito Stable outside of the town, Jaune gave an old man a bottle of Goron Spice who gave him 50 rupees for it. Using the cooking pot, he made a Hearty Simmered Fruit to replace the used Hearty Elixir. Afterwards, they approached a bridge with a Rito holding a feathered spear by it.
"Good day." The Rito greeted, "Did you need something?"
"Who are you?" Blake asked, an instinct to eat stirring inside at the sight of a bird-person.
"I am Gesane of the Rito. Ah the Rito of Lake Totori. Where the men are fine archers and the women better singers." Gesane said. As they approached Rito Village, a loud mechanical screech echoed through the air as Vah Medoh let out a loud screech as it circled the village. Talking to another Rito had them learning that the Rito were basically stuck close to the ground with the Divine Beast there, as it was shooting down anything that flew close to it above the village.
Farther up in the village, they entered a store called "Brazen Beak". There, they sold a special armor set known as "Snowquill Armor" which made extremely cold temperatures bearable to the user-even below 0 degrees F! After they each bought one, Jaune sold some ore and monster parts to bring his finances back to 2,184 rupees. Finally, Jaune arrived at the shrine in Rito Village. After he emerged with a third Spirit Orb, they took turns changing in private into their Snowquill armor. People in the area talked about the Hebra Mountains north of Rito Village...and how it could get so cold it could kill people.
After paragliding to the south to reach the path, they followed it as it circled north. As they fought a black hinox...
The Blood Moon rose.
Not only that, but as they just finished off the Hinox after the Blood Moon, a Yiga archer ambushed them. After dealing with him, Jaune collapsed, Aura low, in what would be called the "red zone" in tournaments.
"It will be alright, Jaune." Pyrrha said, holding him up as she prepared a teleport to Hateno Village, "Besides, Hudson needs help, remember?" She said right before teleporting to Hateno Village as she led him to his house.
"Promised...Hudson..." Jaune slurred out before collapsing on the bed of his home after Pyrrha guided him up the balcony.
The next morning, Jaune awoke refreshed with his Aura restored as he looked down to see Yang helping Pyrrha make wildberry crepes. While traditionally it was a desert, Jaune wasn't going to complain about having it for breakfast. After everyone ate, they decided to have their Snowquill armor dyed. Only one rule was placed about the dye color choices: no white.
They didn't need to lose anyone in case of a snowstorm.
Ren had his dyed green, Nora's had hers dyed pink, Pyrrha had hers died crimson, Blake had hers dyed black, Weiss (who grumbled about that color rule) had hers dyed blue. Ruby had been given one by Yang, and dyed it red. Yang and Jaune dyed theirs yellow.
After that, they went to Kakariko Village to visit the Great Fairy there. Hopefully she could enhance the Snowquill armor they got. Jaune now had the ingredients needed to enhance the soldier's greaves, and they all had their entire Snowquill armor set enhanced by a single level, had their Snowquill tunic and trousers enhanced by two more levels.
"Hudson...needed a Goron!" Jaune recalled, putting on his Flamebreaker Armor in a private location before teleporting to Goron City. After spending a few hours asking around the city and not finding anyone whose name ended in "Son", Jaune continued to the Southern Goron Mines. There, he found two Gorons whose name ended with "son". There was a young kid named Pelison, and his big brother, Greyson. However, Grayson wouldn't talk until he got a break from mining during the night.
So, he took his sledgehammer and collected ore and rock salt, along with fireproof lizards. Come nightfall, Jaune talked to Grayson...who was sick of repeatedly digging in the mines for ore. Thus, Jaune told him about Tarrey Town in Akkala. With a huge grin, Grayson and Pelison left to head straight to Akkala. Smiling to himself, Jaune teleported back to Hateno Village, changing into his usual hood and armor before he gathered the rest of the group besides Revali and teleported to Kakariko Village to report to Impa. Rain was pouring down upon Kakariko Village when they arrived.
"There are those who hate the rain." Paya said as she stared at the door from inside Impa's house as they went inside, "I don't get that. It nourishes all plant life, and its sound is soothing to the hearts of all. I am thankful, even for the rain. It is truly a blessing."
"Well, well. You've returned." Impa said, lifting her head up as Jaune approached, "What is it?"
"I visited all the locations." Jaune said, and her eyes widened in shock.
"No...All twelve pictures already? You've visited every place?! Hmm...The I suppose it's time. I will reveal the location of the final memory. Here is what happened. Advisor Ozpin gave me specific instructions on waiting to show this one until the other ones were seen." Impa said as she hopped down and stood by a painting. "Here is the final picture." Jaune gazed at the scene, showing a field with the decayed remains of Guardians.
"Does it look familiar? From this village, you should be able to get there in a half day's time. Now go, child. Seek out what Advisor Ozpin has shown you." Impa said.
"It...It looks like the field between Kakariko and Fort Hateno." Jaune said, snapping a picture of the painting on his scroll as a reference. He went to the shop and sold a bit of his ore to bring his finances up, and then left in the middle of the night to head towards that field...eager to find that "final memory" as Impa called it. He ended up saving a traveling merchant, who gave him a Tough Nutcake...and then a staminoka bass after stalboklins emerged next to him.
As Jaune made it to the field at 5 am, Blake caught a black stallion with a white stripe down his face. Blake registered him as "Shadow". At 9:15 am, Jaune stood at the spot, overlooking a wet meadow as remains of Guardians were scattered around him. He fidgeted with his Sheikah Scroll nervously, as Pyrrha placed a hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring nod. He pulled up the scroll, looked up, and gasped as a memory came back.
A Guardian lay burning as a swarm of others moved around them. Zelda pleaded Link to save himself, but as he stood up, stumbling slightly, with Jaune facing another Guardian, one blasted Link from the side, shattering his Aura as one blasted Zelda from behind, shattering her Aura as well. "NO!" Zelda shouted, barely breathing as Link collapsed.
"LINK!" Jaune shouted, as he was sent flying by a Guardian beam shattering his armor and shield, but he paid no attention to that or the scars and burns on his body; running to his brother's side, and Link grabbed Jaune's hand before a blue glow went from Link to Jaune as Link gave a shuddering breath and stopped breathing. Jaune stood up, unable to look at his failure, and grabbed the damaged Master Sword. He charged forward as he heard the dying Zelda sobbing into Link's chest. "A NEW HYLIAN CHAMPION RISES! THE HEIR OF THE SWORD CONTINUES TO FIGHT!" A soldier screamed to the others fighting to rally them.
"LINK!" Zelda screamed, and then she lifted her right hand, a symbol of the Triforce lighting up as an explosion of golden light filled the area. The Malice was driven from the Guardians as they shuddered and collapsed where they had been patrolling. Jaune felt his body protesting as he tried to keep standing. "Was that...the sealing power?" Zelda whispered, hardly able to speak.
"PRINCESS!" Three Shiekah led by Advisor Ozpin said as they ran over.
"It's...too late for me..." Zelda said, grabbing Ozpin's hand. Two golden beams flew from her body into the air towards the Great Plateau. "I'm splitting my sealing power apart. That way we can ensure that no matter what Calamity Ganon does...we will be able to seal him away." Zelda said, reaching to brush Jaune's hand where a Triforce symbol had appeared as he picked up the damaged Master Sword. Unbeknownst to him, after she did so, the symbol of the Triforce of Courage started glowing. A golden glow surrounded Zelda's body and went into Ozpin's, who dropped to his knees at the immense power.
"Sir...What do we do now..." A Sheikah asked, watching Zelda lay her hand on Link's cheek before her eyes closed and her breathing ceased. Jaune clenched his fist...and then dropped to his knees as the adrenaline wore off and the severity of his wounds caught up to him, and he collapsed face-first into the mud.
"No..." Ozpin said, slamming a fist into the ground. Then, he heard a whispering, humming sound, as the Master Sword; still in Jaune's hands, shone light blue in a pattern similar to a heartbeat. "He can still be saved with the others!"
"Sir?" The Sheikah asked.
"Take Jaune to the Shrine of Resurrection immediately. If we don't hurry we will lose him forever!" Ozpin said, as everything went black.
Jaune emerged from the memory, moving over a few steps and dropping to his knees and starting to sob uncontrollably. "Jaune?" Yang asked as tears gathered in her own eyes seeing him cry. He turned, showing his blood-shot eyes to the group. "They died here. Link...Zelda..." Then, his hand brushed against something. He ripped away tall grasses wildly until what he felt was revealed. There was a stone plaque laying flat against the ground with a few flowers trying to sprout around it.
"Here lies Sir Link and Princess Zelda. United in love that transcends time in the next life. May their light shine down upon this land." Jaune read as he sobbed, "A sword wields no strength unless the hand who holds it has Courage." With that, Jaune pressed his head against the ground and prayed.
He stayed there for hours and, as the clock reached 2pm, a wind picked up in the area as clouds gathered. Then, there was a ray of light piercing the clouds shining upon the group.
"My, how you've all grown." A male voice said as the spirit of Jaune's father appeared with his wife, Jaune's seven sisters...
And Link, who walked over and placed a hand on Jaune's shoulder.
"My precious daughters." A melodic voice said as what appeared to be an older version of Ruby wearing an apron and white cloak appeared besides Taiyang and Qrow.
"Mom! Dad! Uncle Qrow!" Ruby shouted as Yang teared up at the sight.
"You've all become so strong." Taiyang said, wiping the tears from Yang's face, "My little dragon has grown up and my little rose has blossomed."
"We do not blame you for our deaths, Sir Arc." A refined voice said as Princess Zelda, wearing a white dress, appeared on the opposite side of Jaune than Link was, "You fought honorably."
"I failed. I couldn't protect you." Jaune said, turning with tears in his eyes at the sight of the Princess and Link.
"One alone cannot do everything." Zelda said, "Let go of your regrets. They will only tear you down."
"Besides." Link spoke in a quiet voice, surprising everyone, "I have developed several skills that will be used by the one who bears the Spirit of the Hero Chosen by the Master Sword in the next life. I...regret not developing them sooner, but once Calamity Gannon is killed, I will appear within your dreams, my brother, and pass down these skills."
"Link..." Jaune said, amazed as Zelda grabbed Link's hand and rested her head on his shoulder.
"These skills are the Ending Blow, Shield Attack, Jump Strike, and Great Spin. These are a few skills that my ancestor once used." Link said, before Zelda faded. As Link started to fade, he said "Remember: A sword wields no strength unless the hand who holds it has Courage!"
"My baby boy..." Jaune's mother said as she pulled him into a hug, "We're so proud of you...We will always love you...whether or not you succeed, we will always be proud of you. With that, his father patted his back "I see that you've gotten quite some...admirers." His dad said, and his mom and sisters shot the elder Arc a nasty look.
"Do you really have to say this?" Taiyang groaned out, and Summer pulled his ear.
"Just let her do it." Qrow said, vanishing into the air with Taiyang and Jaune's dad and sisters following.
"Listen...to miss Rose Xiao-Long." Jaune's mom said before she vanished.
"Love..." Summer said, "True love comes in many forms, and may be shared by many. Of course, it isn't always a fairy tale, you must put work into it...but...no matter how odd the situation...it can overcome the protests of others." Jaune was confused at those words, but Yang, Pyrrha, and Ruby were blushing.
"That's all I really had to say...and we can't stay too long so..." With that, Summer gave a wink to the girls, "Thus kindly I scatter." With that, Summer Rose vanished into thin air.
The rest of the day was spent in Hateno Village. No one wanted to continue their journey that day, as the appearance of the deceased Rose Xiao-Long and Arc families emotionally drained them. Jaune did some work at a desk as he wrote out plans and...his will, just in case.
After heading in bed early, waking up to see Ruby, Yang, and Pyrrha snuggled up to him, he really didn't want to move, especially after seeing the tracks of tears on their faces. Ruby then awoke and gave him a somber smile before a determined expression crossed her face as Pyrrha woke up. Ruby then zoomed down the stairway and came back with a wrapped item.
"I finished Milo!" Ruby announced happily, and Pyrrha tore the paper away to reveal the weapon. It held the basic shape of a Gerudo spear, with the side prongs shaped like that of the ceremonial spear's. The right prong also had a short blade going back towards the end with what looked like a windcleaver design. There was an opening with a notch with the curves of the golden bow's "arms" on either side of the arm.
"It's kinda basic, so I added technology from the golden bow that allows you to zoom in with your arrow launcher. It also allows you to infuse your Aura into your arrows so you could have an easier time with using your Semblance if it hits something metallic." Ruby said, and Pyrrha gave it an experimental spin and sheathed it on her back.
"I love it!" Pyrrha said.
"Jaune..." Ruby said, "If you wait here, I'll have your Protector's Shield done tomorrow."
"I don't mind...we could use a chance to unwind." Jaune said, as Yang ruffled Ruby's hair playfully.
The day passed quickly...too quickly for some. However, the next morning, Ruby emerged with the sheathe of the Master Sword with a little lever on it.
"Try it out!" Ruby said, and Jaune flipped the lever, and the sheathe expanded into a shield. It was shaped like the Hylian Shield with a similar design, but the once gray metal was now a golden color matching the coloration of the sheathe with the two metal designs bordering the Triforce replaced by the Arc family crescents. "I managed to make it near unbreakable...well...except for Lava." Ruby bragged, poking her fingers together at the last part, "I managed to improve the Hylian Shield's durability, with the Aura and Guardian reflecting ability of the ancient shield, and impressive stopping power of the Royal Guard's shield."
"I love it!" Jaune said, moving it around on his left arm before having it collapse into a sheathe, which he put back on his belt and slid the Master Sword into, "A shield truly befitting the Sword that Seals the Darkness. I'll have to bake a dozen of those strawberry chocolate chip cookies for you once we destroy Ganon!" Those words had Ruby rush over and hug him with a squeal in a flurry of rose petals. After a few minutes (and a quiet whimper of "my spine!" from Jaune), Ruby let go and looked at Ren.
"I like your idea of a zooming in bow with a fast rate of fire that has blades attacked to the bottom for your Stormflower weapon design." She said, "However, I can only have it connect to one type of arrow, and I'll need to look at the Falcon Bow you told me about, so until you get one, it's on the back burner."
"Oh! I almost forgot!" Jaune said, moving to an empty bow display. "I got a maximum durability enchanted Falcon Bow from a Shrine." He said, putting it on the display before Ruby took it into her hands.
"Okay! So...what arrow type?" Ruby asked Ren.
"Ice. Letting my close combat focused teammates get some breathing room." Ren said calmly, sipping on a cup of tea. Jaune also looked at an empty weapons display and put up a long throw enchanted Great Frostblade onto it, making Ruby squeal as she also pulled it down.
"A kind of Frostblade!" Ruby said, "Weiss wanted Myrnaster to have the shape of a Zora sword, be unbreakable in combat, and the ability to freeze foes!"
"But...isn't every weapon you make unbreakable in combat?" Pyrrha asked, and Ruby posed proudly.
"Of course! Excluding lava...the bane of my weapon-making existence...Ruby Rose doesn't make knockoff weapons that break in battle! Of course you have to maintain them to keep them at 100%, but that's a minor price to pay." Ruby said, before Jaune went to the bathroom and came out in his Snowquill armor.
"I'm going to check out the Spring of Wisdom." Jaune said, "I was told by a traveler it was at Mount Lanayru." With Revali still recovering, Ruby staying behind to make more weapons, Weiss staying to "ensure she constructs Myrnaster properly", Blake staying behind-catching up on a book, Ren deciding to meditate after being visited by the spirits and Nora not wanting to be separated from her boyfriend; it was just Jaune, Yang, and Pyrrha heading to the snowy mountain. They were all glad they had the Snowquill armor now, as the temperature plunged lower the farther up they got; even on the mountains below Lanayru. It hit 0 degrees F by a cedar tree on Madorna Mountain. And yet, even with skin exposed, the Snowquill armor kept them warm.
After finding a Korok, and having Yang give up on trying to figure out how they could be in any environment, they continued onto what had to be the Spring of Wisdom on the map, seeing a faint purple glow around Mount Lanayru. Going further up the mountain, they saw it was a snake-like dragon...
Coated in Malice, with Malice Eyes glaring at them from all over the dragon's body.
The dragon watched them, moaning pityingly, as a Goddess Statue spoke to them with a voice from the air.
"You have done well to find your way to this spring." It said, "You who have overcome numerous trials and obtained Spirit Orbs...The one you see before you is an attendant to the Spring of Wisdom. This is Naydra, the blue spirit of Lanayru. This servant of the Goddess has looked over the spirits of this land for ages, unknown to the world of man. However, the dreaded Malice unleashed by Calamity Ganon has possessed its body and reduced it to this state. You who have received the Spirit Orbs...Free Naydra from this Malice. Show what your power can achieve!" With that, a gigantic Malice Eye opened on it's forehead.
Jaune destroyed one on Naydra's tail with a fire arrow, and Naydra roared, taking to the skies. Jaune followed it, riding updrafts to the top of Mount Lanayru as Yang and Pyrrha fought off encroaching black moblins at the Spring of Wisdom. He stood on the peak and destroyed a Malice Eye on Naydra's belly, the dragon moaning as it flew along in circles. It moved forwards towards the cedars as Jaune followed on the updrafts, shooting another eye on it's back. All that was left was the Malice Eye covering Naydra's head, as it thrashed it's head side to side. Jaune lined up his shot, after finding another Korok, and destroyed the eye just before Naydra ran into him. It moaned, shivering, and then a burst of purple light shone from it as it became white with blue glowing crystal horns.
Yang and Pyrrha watched in surprise as the black moblins they were facing vanished into smoke as that happened, and Jaune climbed back up to the Spring of Wisdom as Naydra sat curled around it with it's head leaning over the Goddess Statue.
"Thanks to your efforts, Naydra, the spirit of Mount Lanayru, has been freed from the grips of an evil power. But a single ceremony remains, Now...Loose your arrow through the body of Naydra to free the spirit of this region!"The Goddess said. Jaune switched to a normal arrow and shot it's ear, not wanting to actually seriously hurt a benevolent spirit. It roared as the place where the arrow hit glowed and it flew upwards in a spiral, before the glow split off and landed at Jaune's feet.
"That is the spirit Naydra's scale. It fell when your arrow struck." The Goddess said, "It serves as proof of the courage you received from the one who served the spring since ancient times. Come...Offer a scale from the blue spirit Naydra to the Spring of Wisdom."
"So...do the other dragon spirits serve springs?" Jaune asked.
"Indeed, courageous one." The Goddess responded, "Dinraal, the red spirit, serves the Spring of Power. Farosh, the green spirit, serves the Spring of Courage." Jaune held Naydra's scale and placed it into the water after walking on a path in it. The scale glowed before vanishing, and a door behind the spring opened, revealing a Shrine.
"Your path has shown itself. Now go forth." The Goddess said before she went silent. Jaune came out not only with a forth Spirit Orb, but a Frostspear- which is what the boy in Hateno Village wanted to see next. Jaune then prayed at the Goddess Statue and unlocked another chunk of his Aura. Afterwards, the three held each other in a hug as they laughed. They had stared down a DRAGON!
"Why don't we spend time exploring. Just us?" Pyrrha asked, and both of them decided to agree with her idea. After that emotional memory and reunion with those spirits, they could take some "down time" to explore.
The first shrine they found had Jaune emerging with a Spirit Orb and climbing boots to go with his bandana. After they wandered around for a while, they teleported to a shrine near Zora's Domain, tired of below 0 temperatures. There, they were treated to the sight of Naydra flying by them, keeping a fond eye upon the trio as it passed by, letting out content hums that echoed through the air. It's six arms reached out and retracted, as if grabbing air like a mountain climber grabbed rocks. As they crossed the southern border of the Lanayru Great Spring, they came across Kass playing is accordion in a rocky island chain surrounded by winds going multiple directions.
"I know a song about this place." Kass said after greeting them, "Would you like to hear the ancient verse passed down in this region?"
"Sure!" Jaune said.
"Excellent! Without further ado...~He breaks the rocks that serve to bind, Above the tempestuous bay. On wings of cloth and wood entwined, He lands on the alter to open the way~." Kass performed. While the Rito bard didn't know what "wings of cloth and wood meant", the trio did.
Paragliders.
Jaune went from island to island, using the Bomb Rune or a bomb arrow to destroy rocks blocking the wind flow. Once they were out of the way, the alter activated. After finding a Korok, Jaune rode the wind from the center of the lagoon to the alter, making a shrine rise from the ground.
"Ah, so the 'wings of cloth and wood' referred to a paraglider. Of course." Kass said to Yang, "The way he soared on the wind made it look as though he truly had wings. I feel the stirrings of a new song about his deeds here..."
"He is pretty amazing." Yang said.
"I must be off. Take care, and may the light illuminate your path." Kass said, before he put his accordion away and flew off. After Jaune emerged, they teleported to the Ke'nai Shakah Shrine in the Akkala region. This was for a reason; Pyrrha and Yang had spotted four uninhabited islands rising from the sea and they wanted to scout possible vacation spots. As they approached the first island, Tingel Island, they were attacked by an octorok and two fire kesee. While the monsters, and flying guardians made it not a decent vacation spot, they did find a shrine in it.
Leaving the island, they moved to some ruins overlooking a spiral-shaped stretch of land in the water. After revealing a hidden Korok, Pyrrha read a stone tablet in front of a stone orb with glowing orange designs. "Only a hero bearing this ancient orb shall be granted the right of trial on Rist Peninsula."
"Crud..." Yang griped, "But at least we can help take out the trash on his path!" Yang's Stone Smasher and Pyrrha's Milo soon found themselves in their hands as Jaune picked up the orb. First, there were three black moblins sitting around roasting fish. The second obstacle were two bokoblins on horseback...and thunder made Pyrrha and Yang put away their metal weapons. They made sure to try to avoid the black lizalfos fishing or the octoroks in the water, since Jaune only had metal bows; which would attract the lightning to him. However, the octoroks soon became annoying as they would pelt Jaune with rocks or knock the orb out of his hands. Thus, when the storm stopped for an hour, Jaune quickly pulled out a golden bow, equipped the shock arrows, and dealt with the annoying monsters. Even with Yang and Pyrrha destroying any monsters in their path, the sheer walk took a couple hours alone. Not only was the shrine in the middle of the spiral peninsula, but a Korok was as well!
After Jaune emerged, the trio started to head back Tarrey Town; where the closest Goddess Statue was. Of course, another thunderstorm started on the way back. Lightning struck all around them as they ran towards the town-in-construction. A fox ran off after Pyrrha almost stepped on it's tail. Upon reaching Tarrey Town, the storm died down and Jaune prayed at the Goddess statue, Yang and Pyrrha watching as a Stamina Vessel descended onto Jaune and he glowed green for a moment as he felt his stamina increase. Now, the town had two complete houses and they saw Greyson the Goron swinging his pick-axe away at the rock.
Next, Jaune gave Hudson 20 bundles of wood for building more houses. Then, Hudson asked for a tailor to repair clothes...of course, their name had to end in "Son". He did say that someone among the Gerudo could be good at tailoring. After Jaune made an Enduring Elixir, they teleported to the Rota Ooh shrine, remembering someone at the stable wanted raw gourmet meat. Jaune had some, and he had ensured it was properly stored just for this person. For a piece of raw gourmet meat, the man- Trott- gave him a silver rupee which was worth 100 rupees. After that, Pyrrha brought him to the lady who wanted to meet the "Hero of Hyrule". She was extremely happy to see him with the Master Sword, handing him a star fragment she found. To Pyrrha and Yang's relief, she also decided Jaune "wasn't her type".
With morning arriving quickly, and having been away from home for a few days, they teleported back to Hateno Village. Happy after journeying together and exhausted from the trip, they collapsed into bed and fell asleep.
