Remnants of the Wild
Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Eventide Island
With Revali back in action, it was time to return to Rito Village. Fortunately, it was only a simple teleport travel to reach. With their Snowquill armor, they were all ready for anything. After Jaune gave a man a piece of flint (who gave him a silver rupee for it) and gave his newlywed wife some of her favorite food- a baked apple (and she also gave him a silver rupee for it), they met with the chief of Rito Village.
The owl-like chief, towering over them, opened his eye. "Ah, visitors...Welcome to...oh. OH! Master Revali! Stories of your healing sleep weren't lies!"
"Like anything could bring me down." Revali bragged.
"And those objects on their hips..." He said, gazing at (R)WBY and JNPR, "Could they be...Forgive me. Where are my manners? I am Kaneli, elder of Rito Village. Now then...are those not Sheikah Scrolls dangling from your hip?"
"That's right!" Nora cheered.
"Oh, my! So it is true!" Kaneli said, "That means you are Champions like Master Revali-one of the few able to board Divine Beast Vah Medoh!" Kaneli whispered about healing sleeps and descendants under his breath. "Ah, forgive me...Champions, if you would listen to this old man's request, you would have my eternal gratitude."
"I'll listen." Jaune said before someone like Nora could protest.
"Thank you. Truly." Kaneli said, "Now that I know you have the blood of a Champion, there is something I must ask of you. How shall I put this...I would like you to deal with Divine Beast Vah Medoh. The giant beast circling above us. Only a chosen one, a Champion, can stop a Divine Beast. You must enter the beast and bend it to your will. I tried explaining this to the more headstrong Rito warriors, but they wouldn't listen to reason. Teba and Harth tried to confront Medoh, but it did not go well, and Harth was injured. Teba escaped unscathed, but I fear he now plans to face Medoh alone. Perhaps you could help us."
"Don't worry owl man!" Nora said, putting Jaune in a headlock, "Fearless leader here tamed three other Divine Beasts!"
"Is that so!" Kaneli said as he chuckled at the sight, "If you find Teba and work with him, you all may be able to tame Divine Beast Vah Medoh."
Ren talked to Harth, and found out he was a bow craftsman. Revali now had his Great Eagle's Bow back on his back after talking more to the elder. In the past, it was said that Revali's archery was unparalleled with that bow. Still, Ren managed to also learn that Teba ha a wife and a son...and then managed to find out the location of Teba.
The flight range slightly north of Rito Village; near a shrine Jaune visited earlier. It was a place where Rito warriors practiced.
Revali was seriously touched when she said the name of a platform; Revali's Landing. Jaune stared at the platform, and he gasped as a memory returned.
Divine Beast Vah Medoh flew over Rito Village as Jaune and Link looked on from the platform and Revali twirled up in an updraft, bragging about being able to create an updraft...and then complained about being merely and assistant to Link because of the Darkness Sealing Sword, asking to settle it aboard the Divine Beast, then mocked Link for having no way of reaching Medoh on his own.
"Revali's still a jerk..." Jaune muttered to himself as Teba's wife fussed over him as he had suddenly stared off into space and feared she said too much. After ensuring that he was fine, just lost in memories, they watched Revali fly off towards Medoh and quickly teleported to the Shrine near the flight range. When they arrived at the range, Teba tried to have them leave as he made adjustments to his bow.
"We can help you." Jaune said.
"Help me? With what exactly?" Teba growled out.
"Vah Medoh..." Jaune said.
"Let me get this straight." Teba said, nearly shouting, "Some random Hylian wants to help me Divine Beast Vah Medoh? I'm not buying it. What's your name, stranger?"
"I'm Jaune." Jaune replied, and Teba's eyes softened.
"Jaune, huh? Well Jaune. I'm Teba. But you already knew that. I'm guessing the elder asked you to come here and talk some sense into me. Am I right?" Teba asked.
"That's right." Jaune said firmly.
After Teba scoffed and whispered something to himself, he continued, "Look-you seem like an all-right guy, but let's make one thing clear: I'm not going anywhere. As a Rito warrior, I can't rest until my people are safe."
"I know your feeling, so let's get started." Jaune said as he stretched out.
"Are you serious?" Teba asked in disbelief, "Ha! Well, far be it from me to talk you off the ledge. Listen, we have to get inside it."
"Like I did with the other three beasts." Jaune said.
"WHAT?!" Teba said, turning to him in shock, "Ugh...listen. If we approach Medoh recklessly, its cannons will blast us out of the sky before we even get close...So I'm going to need to test you before I take you with me. We Rito warriors use the updraft in this ravine to hone our aerial archery skills. The updrafts are so strong here that a person could just open up a cloth over their head and float up easily. Now let's see what you're capable of. You have to maneuver through the air and destroy five of the targets set up in this valley in three hours."
"I'm ready." Jaune said, before running off the platform and destroying them in a little over a half hour.
"You're...a skilled archer." Teba complemented, "It was as if time stopped with every arrow you let fly. I've got to tell you, Jaune...When you first showed up with your friends, I thought someone was pulling a prank on me. But after seeing you handle that bow, I can tell you're the real deal. You must have seen a battle or two."
"Hundreds of them, with the monsters around Hyrule." Jaune said.
"I believe it!" Teba said with a chuckle. "Jaune...I feel like I've heard the name somewhere before...Well, if you really want to help me bring down Medoh, it's now or never. I'll get you into position so you can give its cannons all you've got. Inside that treasure chest is a bow I've modified. Take it, and let me know when you're ready."
"Well guys. Seems it's just Revali and me this time." Jaune said, handing his attack boosted enchanted Royal Bow to Ren, "You'll need this, just in case brother." Inside the chest was a Falcon Bow, augmented to increase it's attack power.
"OK. It's time to face Divine Beast Vah Medoh." Teba said, "Normal arrows won't put a dent in those cannons. You'll need to hit them with bomb arrows. These are a precious commodity, so don't expect me to o this again, but...take these bomb arrows." With that, Teba handed Jaune 20 bomb arrows. "Also, it'll be cold up there."
"I've got my Snowquill outfit. I'm ready." Jaune said.
"All right." Teba replied, "But let me ask you something. Why are you doing this? Why risk your life to bring down Medoh?"
Jaune glanced at the Divine Beast, before looking at Teba and replying "I just can't watch..."
"I understand that feeling too well!" Teba said. "All right, get on." Jaune climbed onto Teba's back and he flew off into the sky.
"Good luck..." Pyrrha and Yang whispered quietly.
"All right. It's showtime." Teba said as he joined up with Revali circling Medoh. "Man, even I feel like I'm going to freeze up here! There's Divine Beast Vah Medoh."
After he said that, a glowing red energy shield surrounded it. "It has it's barrier up again. What a pain..." Revali said.
"You see those cannons? I'll draw their fire." Teba said, "While I'm doing that, both of you use your bomb arrows to destroy the cannons. Got it so far?" Both Jaune and Revali nodded. "Jaune, if you need to withdraw for a bit, just spread your cloth and float straight up in the updraft for a while. I'll take that as a sign that we need to regroup. Don't bother aiming for anything covered by Medoh's barrier. It's impenetrable...and don't get close enough to touch it." Jaune jumped off and fired a few bomb arrows at the closest cannon to destroy it before deploying his cloth to gain some altitude, repeatedly deploying and lowering it as to not confuse Teba.
Revali moved to the left and quickly dispatched that turret. At this time, Jaune got within striking distance of the right turret and destroyed it as Revali moved and destroyed the cannon on Medoh's beak. Teba had flown around drawing it's fire, swarming like a fly around honey. After the cannons were blown up, the barrier dropped and Medoh let out a screech as Jaune and Revali landed on it's tail. Teba winced in pain, his left leg scorched.
"Bad news, Jaune...looks like I got hit pretty bad back there. I have to head back to the flight range. I just hope I can make it back." Teba said, "Don't give up you two, it's all you!" He said, flashing a "thumbs up" with his left wing before flying back towards the flight range.
Revali activated the travel gate. "Well now...you've come back." A voice echoed. "I had a feeling you would show up. As one of the Sheikah, I knew this day would come...even if it took 100 years. Medoh will be taken away from Ganon at last. I can't do much...but I can activate the Guidance Stone that will give you a map of Medoh." Entering, Revali shot a Malice Eye.
"Listen here. You may be the Knight Chosen by the Sword that Seals the Darkness, but in here, this is MY Divine Beast." Revali said, "So for now, you're MY backup."
"Fine." Jaune said, not really wanting to get into an argument with the headstrong Rito Champion. Flying his way across, Revali put his Sheikah Scroll into the pedestal to download the map to their scrolls. Once Revali flew back to Jaune, he sneered at the Hylian.
"We have to activate every terminal in Medoh. Think you're up to it?" Revali sneered.
"Yep. As I was with the other three beasts." Jaune replied, and Revali blinked.
"Touche." Revali said, nodded at Jaune's point. Revali tested Jaune by tilting Medoh a few times with his scroll, but Jaune just used it to his advantage to collect an ancient core from a chest. Making their way to the right wing (if you looked from behind the Divine Beast), Jaune used Magnesis on a metallic bow with a fan on it as Revali shot down a Malice Eye and activated a pedestal, allowing wind to blow onto the windmills.
"Tilt it!" Jaune said, "It looks like that structure has to hit that in order to open the room to the terminal. I'll hold the fan in place to keep the door from blocking it!"
"Absolutely." Revali said, taking some pleasure as Jaune stumbled slightly against the weight and Revali activated the terminal after the door opened. They then, seeing no way to open the door blocking the next terminal in the wing, flew or paraglided into the other wing. Revali shot a Malice eye, bumping into Jaune and knocking him into the Malice, which drained a couple chunks of his Aura before the Malice vanished. With a glare to Revali, Jaune activated the terminal. After that, Jaune used his bomb rune to clear some rubble from a puzzle, which had Revali tilting Medoh to move a ball into range so Jaune could move it into position with Magnesis for Revali to tilt Medoh back so it hit against a switch and opened the door.
Revali then activated the next terminal. After making their way to the main body, Revali flew on ahead under Medoh's right wing; destroying a Malice eye before using a ramp to get to the locked room and activate the terminal.
Just one terminal remained.
Revali tilted Medoh back so Jaune could walk along it's body and ride an updraft onto Medoh's back. Jaune ate some mushrooms to recover his lost Aura, and continued on. Jaune stayed on Medoh's back as Revali flew to the underside of Medoh's left wing and activated the last terminal after shooting the last visible Malice Eye. After Revali landed by the Main Control Unit, Jaune grabbed his shoulder.
"If it's anything like the last three Divine Beasts, there'll be a Grimm of Ganon's making that we have to fight." Jaune said, and Revali gasped as he remembered a beast...the beast that nearly killed him.
"Well, at least I have backup this time." Revali said, hiding his fear as he pressed his scroll to the unit.
Swirls of darkness emerged from it and swirled together. A Guardian Cannon formed on it's right arm. Sharp claws formed on it's left hand. A white squarish bone mask formed around a blue eye as it's red mane spiked behind it like it had been pushed by the wind. Four protrusions spiked out from behind it. It was...
WindGrimm Ganon.
WindGrimm Ganon let out an ear-piercing shriek as a tornado formed in front of it before dissipating.
"I remember this thing. It plays dirty." Revali said, "It nearly did me in 100 years ago...but only because I was winging it." Jaune drew the Master Sword, it's sacred glow shining bright and expanded the protector's shield. With a swipe of it's hand, both Revali and Jaune had to dodge to the side as a small tornado formed and moved towards them. Revali shot at it's eye, before Jaune jumped in front of him and deflected a blue laser back at it with Daruk's Protection.
"Nicely done." Revali said, his ego having taken a hit after nearly being injured and needing protection. Revali rode on an updraft and managed to hit it's eye three times with an arrow, but it was too far away for Jaune to reach before it recovered and teleported. Jaune protected Revali, using up Daruk's protection as it's shots were deadly accurate before a blast hit Jaune and sent him skidding backwards.
"Jaune!" Revali shouted, switching to bomb arrows. Jaune took another hit for Revali before a few more bomb arrows made it screech and it shot what looked like missiles hovering around it.
"Watch your blind spot, it can use those things to attack." Revali said. As tornadoes closed in, Revali shouted "CAREFUL!" and shot a bomb arrow into the Grimm's eye, stunning it enough for it to drop and Jaune to cause massive damage to it with his Master Sword. They both had to dodge as the missile-like structures opened and deflected it's laser wildly around an area around them. Jaune's Falcon Bow shattered from the onslaught as he smirked when it teleported close to the ground. Ducking under an attack, he unleashed his fury upon the Grimm and it floated upwards, screeching with a deafening sound. It curled up as black ooze gushed from it as purple light shone from it before it exploded into purple light and smoke.
Jaune dropped to his knees, sheathing his Master Sword after collapsing the shield as he felt his Aura increase by a chunk. With a nod to Jaune, Revali activated the Main Control Unit as Jaune started glowing gold. Medoh's markings changed from red to blue.
"Well I'll be plucked..." Revali said, shaking his head, "Well done. I suppose I should thank you...but don't preen yourself for doing your job, but you've proven yourself as a warrior worthy of my sacred skill I've dubbed Revali's Gale!" With that Revali launched a green orb of Aura into Jaune's chest and an updraft formed around him.
"It's time to make preparations for Medoh's attack on Ganon...that is if you still think you'll need my help." Revali said, before Jaune vanished into golden sparks. "Or, just leave, like I would have done." Revali chuckled.
Medoh tilted into the air and outstretched it's legs, latching onto the rock above Rito Village. It stood upright and stretched it's wings and it's beak expanded and a red beam shot into Hyrule Castle.
"We've been artfully patient, haven't we Medoh?" Revali asked the mechanical beast from it's head, "After all this time...I simply must admit the truth. Even without the power of flight, Jaune made his way onto the Divine Beast and delivered the finishing blow on an enemy that almost killed me. Guess I was wrong about...how lucky he could be..." With that, Revali sighed and sat down, "I hope that luck holds out...for everyone's sake."
Jaune reappeared at Revali's Landing as Yang and Pyrrha grabbed him in a tight hug. "You did it Hero!" Yang said.
"Jaune." Ozpin's voice said, "Thanks to you and your teammates, the Divine Beasts are now free. Finish gaining power from the shrines to return to your full strength, and then you must clash with Ganon."
The group glanced at each other, a smirk forming on Yang's face.
"Well, it had turned out to be the start of a Jaunesome journey." She joked, making Nora boo her. After all, there were 36 shrines left. After Jaune found another Shrine thanks to a Rito song, a familiar voice seemed to whisper in his ears.
"Jaune. I have witnessed your journey. You have overcome every challenge laid before you." Ozpin said, "With the strength you have obtained, I'm sure you can unlock the hidden power within. Once you finish the shrines, return to the Shrine of Resurrection, and return your Sheikah Scroll to it's terminal." As they headed to the next Shrine location, Warbler's Nest, Nora hopped onto the back of a bear. This made Ren sigh, recalling the time she did it when an Ursa managed to get into Hyrule. They found a little Rito girl named Kheel moping about her sisters not coming to practice for the recital. Jaune rested overnight, then got ingredients to cook Hearty Salmon Meuniere, one of the sister's favorite dishes for her, before the sisters went to join Kheel. Jaune made an extra dish for later, just in case.
He thought Blake would enjoy it for dinner one day.
As they finally entered the Hebra Mountains after passing the Serenne Stable, they were glad for the Snowquill armor, as the found single digit and below zero temperatures...and rumors of a skeleton horse-monster known as a Stalhorse. They also saw an annoying monster known as an ice kesee. One wouldn't be blamed for thinking the Hebra Mountains were expanses of gray and white, as rocks protruded while covered in snow. However, there were bits of blue and green as pine trees stood and ice coated some structures. After a long, and slow journey, Weiss climbed and activated the Hebra Tower. They each pulled up their scrolls, glad to have a complete map of Main Hyrule.
They continued for a couple weeks in Hebra, finding every shrine they could. This, to (R)WBY and (J)NPR's frustrations, included another labyrinth. Of course, nearing the labyrinth they had to fight off a fearsome white-maned lynel, armed with a savage lynel spear and a five shot savage lynel bow armed with shock arrows. Jaune handed Pyrrha his damage boosted golden bow as he picked up the savage lynel bow; knowing Ruby would want to study it and find out how one arrow could turn into five.
Fortunately, this maze was somewhat less confusing than the first, as Jaune actually could check the map to get somewhat of an idea on his placement instead of every section appearing closed off like the first was, so it only took him a few hours before he emerged with a Spirit Orb and barbarian leg wraps. During their trip, they even found a hot spring in the snowy mountains, which Jaune used to make a couple hard-boiled eggs.
Once that was done, they went back to Hateno and got their Stasis rune upgraded by Purah, which could now freeze enemies in place for a minute. They then spent a few days at home, warming up and drying their Snowquill armor while planning their next move. It was decided that they would explore the Lake Region next; as they hadn't explored a lot of it; only the tower and Jaune finding the Spring of Courage. Jaune expanded his Aura reserves, and after that he only felt two chunks of his aura left locked away. He felt empowered and eager, so close to having ALL of his Aura finally unlocked.
Still, they had only found 98 of the 120 Shrines so far. There were still many left to find. Jaune put up the 5-shot savage lynel bow onto the display for Ruby to find. It only took her a minute to spot it and rushed it off into her workshop with a chuckle from everyone.
It was fortunate they waited a few days, as those days were rainy and unpleasant to go out in, so they killed time with Jaune cooking some seafood dishes for Blake, banana-centered dishes for Pollux (who was spotted upside-down eating a mighty banana on the rafter), and cookies for Ruby.
He also figured out how to make non-alcoholic Strawberry Sunrises and Wildberry Sunrises.
After they teleported early one morning to a Shrine on the Great Plateau, realizing with a start that, according to the map, the "forgotten" temple was the Temple of Time, where Jaune, Zelda, and Link once prayed to Hylia regularly. They paraglided to the largest island on Lake Hylia, as Farosh circled around them and let out calls once it spotted Jaune. Their shrine sensor was going off like crazy on the island as Jaune paused to watch Farosh dip it's body into and out of Lake Hylia as orbs of electricity circled it's body with winds blowing multiple directions around it. He recalled collecting a scale from Farosh, and knelt down as he lowered his head.
Farosh let out a loud call after seeing Jaune's actions. After Jaune went into and emerged from the Shrine, he used Revali's Gale to create an updraft for everyone to be lifted up with their paragliders and paraglide to the hill south of Lake Hylia, towards the Tower. The weather that day, though cloudy, felt like a nice warm Spring day. On the way, following their shrine sensor, they found a traveling husband and wife duo and saved them, gaining a Fairy Tonic. They were traveling in search of the flower called the Silent Princess; wishing to pluck one and say vows of unending love over one when freshly plucked. After Jaune found the Shrine and emerged with his fourth Spirit Orb, they continued onward. That night, they saw three stalhorses, and despite their frightening appearance, they acted just like regular horses. Continuing on towards pins Jaune placed based on hints from other monks, they smiled at each other; pausing to reflect on just how far they've come.
Jaune looked at Pyrrha and Yang, with Princess Mipha and Ruby also coming to him mind. His...girlfriends by choice...He didn't want to upset them, he was raised better than that, but still didn't know what they saw in him.
But did he love them?...
Yes.
He couldn't even imagine a life without one of them, and it hurt that Mipha was still on Ruta while they needed to finish gaining enough power to launch a full-on attack on Hyrule Castle and Calamity Ganon.
After they killed three blue bokoblins on horseback (doing what they could to avoid the horses themselves), there was an interesting reaction from the stable manager when Nora rode in on a stalhorse.
"WHAT IN HYLIA'S NAME?! THAT'S A MONSTER, NOT A HORSE!" The stable manager shouted in fear, recoiling at the sight of the stalhorse. "Sorry, but we can't board that...thing here. It might eat the other horses." With a huge frown, Nora took it to the field and dismounted it. At 5am when the sun rose, the stalhorse suddenly reared up and died, dissipating into smoke.
"NO! Skeletor!" Nora shouted, crying over the horse monster as Ren consoled her. Heading back to the stable where she could cry in a building as it was about to rain, Jaune quickly cooked an Enduring Elixir, Hearty Fruit and Mushroom Mix, and Simmered Fruit before heading to the Shrine nearby. After he emerged, Yang wanted to investigate the pin on a nearby beach, but the downpour of rain really put a damper on things. Inside the stable, Nora perked up as an older lady talked about a giant horse in the Taobab Grassland west of the stable.
"Oh! Fearless Leader! A horse Renny and I can ride together! Let's go there next! PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEE!" She said with wide, watery eyes. Not being able to stand that look, Jaune agreed to do so after resting for the day. That night, as they rested...
The Blood Moon rose.
The next morning, the group set out to find the giant horse. In their usual outfits, they were ready for anything. They got lost once, finding the ancient saddle. This was a saddle that would allow a horse to teleport to the rider when called; regardless of the distance. On the way, Pyrrha tamed a brown horse she named Achilles (after finding out it was a boy from Jaune) and took back to the stable to register. On the way to the grassland, a small group of bokoblins on horseback attacked them, but were dealt with when Jaune used Urbosa's Fury twice, allowing the skill to recharge and taking out the monsters without hurting the horses.
As they moved farther into the grassland, they encountered a white-maned lynel weilding a metal club-like weapon with a chain attached to the end called savage lynel crusher. During this battle, Mipha's Grace sprung forth as the peculiar weapon got the best of Jaune a few times, the lynel's extreme strength also adding a lot of force behind it's blows. When Jaune was knocked down a few times, Nora smashed it's leg with her sledgehammer, only for it to send her reeling back into Ren by kicking her face. Yang jumped onto it and started wailing blows upon it's rock-hard skin, but eventually was forced to jump off. Blake slashed at it with a soldier's broadsword, only for the savage lynel crusher to shatter it. Weiss tried freezing it with Myrnaster, only for the layer of ice to be shattered instantly by the strength of the lynel.
Their "Hearty" meals were disappearing fast, as the blows would drain their Auras to less than half or bare minimum. Jaune even scarfed down an attack-boosting meal, nearly choking, before jumping back into battle. Finally, after Jaune choked down a couple energizing meals, the lynel fell. Jaune picked up the savage lynel crusher.
"Yang. Nora. Before you protest, I'm going to give this to Ruby. Maybe she could look at this for your weapons." Jaune said, making both ladies close their mouths. After resting for about a half-hour, they continued on. Jaune moved to the nearby shrine, just to have a point "close" to the other shrine. After emerging with his 6th Spirit Orb, he paraglided down to the grassland where the others waited.
"There's possibly the worst cook in Hyrule up there." Jaune said, shaking his head.
"Worse than the Ice Queen who doesn't know drapes are flammable?" Yang asked.
"THAT WAS ONE TIME!" Weiss screamed at her.
"She thinks the way to get better dishes is to add monster parts, gems, and ancient parts." Jaune replied, and everyone scrunched up their faces in disgust. Halfway through the grassland canyon, they came across another white-maned lynel with a savage lynel spear. Jaune groaned as Mipha's Grace, Daruk's Protection, and Revali's Gale were recharging, leaving only Urbosa's Fury. This time, Jaune took as few risks as possible, using up Urbosa's Fury to stun it and down a few mighty elixirs and a hearty meal. Even with the boosts, Jaune was still nearly two chunk of aura down a couple hours later when Pyrrha arrived and Milo dealt the finishing blow to it's skull.
His guardian spear ++ damage boost had broken against the rock-hard skin of the beast, and his royal guard's shield had shattered. Yet, the Master Sword had not come out.
It wasn't time...He was mentally preparing to face the final Trial of the Sword. With those examples, it became obviously clear how lynels were some of the most-feared beasts among Ganon's army. They had power rivaling the strongest Grimm species...and they had something frightening.
Intelligence.
Sure, it was limited, but they could use different attack patterns and alternate attacks rather than the Grimm's straight-forward approach.
As they approached the end of the canyon, Nora let out a loud cheer seeing the massive black draft stallion with an orange mane and tail. Seeing that it ran when they got close, Nora chased after it. She jumped onto it's back and held on for dear life while patting it as it leaped completely off the ground. Soon enough, it let out a nicker and looked back at Nora. "Come on Renny! Join me on Crusher!" Nora called, and Ren sighed with a small smile as he jumped onto Crusher's back behind her.
Crusher was...slow, going just faster than Jaune sprinting, but he made up with sheer power and unending endurance. Those would be needed with NORA as his rider. The rest of them followed as Nora rode Crusher toward's the stable.
"That horse! It's huge!" A man at the local mounted archery camp said. "Hey, we're out here doing an ecological study on the wildlife of this area. Specifically, we're doing a report on the giant horse. Can I take a good look at it?"
"Certainly, just give it back." Ren said, as he helped Nora off Crusher's back. Within a few minutes-allowing the rest of the team to teleport to the Stable- the man returned, giving Crusher back with a silver rupee for helping his research. After an hour, Nora arrived and registered Crusher before boarding him. Jaune, Yang, and Pyrrha headed to the Shrine marked on Faron Beach. That evening, he felt a surge announcing that all his skills were recharged, the last being Urbosa's Fury. Even after Jaune went to Korok forest once to expand his shield inventory, they still had eleven seeds by the time they reached the location of the shrine...
Only to find that it was out of reach as a Hylian refused to give up the orb she named "Roscoe" until she saw pictures of a walking Guardian, small Guardian, and flying Guardian.
After a quick conference, they decided to teleport back to Hateno so Jaune could unlock a chunk of his Aura. Taking a glance at the map, they spotted a shrine on an island...and Eventide Island seemed to resonate with Jaune.
Jaune handed the savage lynel crusher and a savage lynel spear to Ruby, who nearly crumpled under the heavy, durable metal before she slid it into her workshop in the basement. Gazing at it, she knew she was close to finishing the Teams' custom weapons. The chain could attach the bomb arrow launcher on Blake's shroud, and the metal was the perfect type to use for Yang's Ember Celica and Nora's Magnhild!
By bringing this back for her to study, Jaune had provided the means for Yang's, Nora's, and Blake's custom weapons to be finished. As the group headed to bed, Ruby got right to work.
The next morning, Ruby groggily came out and fell asleep in her cereal.
"She must have gotten into a weapon making frenzy last night." Yang said.
"We can watch her." Ren said, "Nora wants me to make pancakes anyway, and Weiss has plans with Poseidon. Blake is going to be reading with Pollux, so she'll be here as well."
Pyrrha, Yang, and Jaune gave Ren a grateful smile as Jaune patted his back with a nod. The three teleported to a shrine on the tip of a cliff in the Faron region that Jaune found earlier; that was past the skull-shaped rock. They then paraglided to a lone island that held the Chaas Qeta Shrine and a lone raft. Jaune placed a pin in the map marking the location of Eventide Island before going into the shrine. He emerged with a third Spirit Orb and the climbing gear. After that, Jaune, Pyrrha, and Yang got onto the raft and Jaune pushed it forward by creating a gust of wind into the raft's sail with a Korok leaf.
As the island loomed closer and closer, Pyrrha and Yang got excited. "It looks like an island from a tropical vacation!" Yang said. The raft slid onto Toronbo Beach and they hopped off it.
"To you who has traveled to this island, I present you with a challenge." A monk's voice said. "In your travels, you have relied on the equipment you've found along the way. Here, you must cast this equipment aside and face this trial with only your wits and whatever you can scavenge." The sky turned black, and when it cleared, the voice continued "Offer up the orbs to the three altars on this island. Only then will I acknowledge your skill and return your items."
"So it's like the Trials of the Sword." Jaune said, angrily feeling where the Master Sword once sat, "That monk is so lucky they die after giving me the orb...I bet Pyrrha and Yang are steaming mad."
"WHY ARE WE NAKED?!" Yang's voice shouted, and Jaune covered his eyes. He was raised better than to peek on a woman when she didn't want him looking.
"We have our scrolls, empty pouches, and belts." Jaune said, keeping his gaze in front of him, "It's like what I face in the Trials of the Sword."
"Hmm..." Pyrrha said thoughtfully, and Jaune felt them place a hand on his shoulders and he felt their gazes on him.
"Can you look elsewhere, please?" Jaune said, very self-conscious about being exposed in the open.
"Nope." Pyrrha and Yang said at the same time, their eyes drifting downwards as their faces became as red as Pyrrha's hair. As they started by collecting tree branches, Korok leafs, mushrooms, and crabs along a beach, Jaune was surprised by their lack of anger...although, he reasoned, that may be due to the...distraction. Still, this was made easier than the Trials of the Sword due to the fact Jaune could still feel his abilities he received from the Champions.
Urbosa's Fury would be a lifesaver while encountering enemies with tree branches.
Also, fortunately for everything on the island, Yang had not received Ember Celica from Ruby. If she had, only for it to be stolen by the monk...she would have torn apart the entire island with her Semblance. They eventually found the first orb on a bokoblin lookout that was easily cleared using Urbosa's Fury. After claiming the orb, they headed back to Toronbo Beach as they had spotted an altar near it. The spotted it near the water and Jaune paused, thinking of how to reach the altar.
"Hey Jaune!" Yang said, "Look over here!" After he turned, two clicks went off, and he realized that Yang and Pyrrha had taken a picture of him since he was holding the orb above his head.
"You wouldn't want me to take a picture of you two, would you?" Jaune threatened, only to falter when they both shrugged. "No fair...using my manners against me..." He grumbled, turning back to the altar. Eventually, Jaune just used Cryonis to lift up the orb once it was in the water, and threw it onto the altar.
Not wanting to face the hinox yet, they climbed up Koholit Rock. Another camp was cleared with Urbosa's Fury, and Jaune felt it go dormant to recharge. After Yang's pure strength moved a rock covering the altar, Jaune took the orb and placed it in the altar. Now the only orb left was the one on the hinox. Still, with Urbosa's Fury recharging, they decided to scope out the location of the last altar. They found it on a nearby hill with a pathway. After clearing out the bokoblins and electric chuchus, they decided to no longer postpone the inevitable and face the hinox. Just as they decided to do that, it started to thunderstorm. With only wooden weapons on them, the metal in inventory, they were fine. Jaune, instead decided to paraglide onto the hinox, grab the orb, jump off it, and run off the hill and throw the orb into the altar.
"You've done well to complete the trial." The monk's voice echoed, "I will return your items as promised." The sky went black, and they found their own inventory and armor on them, "Come, Hero chosen by the Sword, enter the Shrine." Jaune tucked the Master Sword and protector's shield into his pouch as lightning struck nearby and the hinox angrily stormed up the hill. It almost gulped seeing three fully armed knights, but roared out a challenge.
Twenty minute later, it burst into smoke. Not a single one of them had their Aura hit at all. Jaune quickly changed into his Hylian tunic and trousers, as to not let the metal on his armor attract lightning. Completing that trial had only taken two days.
"Thank you." Jaune said, surprising Yang and Pyrrha, "I'm sure it would have taken longer if it was just myself." Pyrrha blushed as she looked down from the picture on her Scroll and then let out a gasp and "Sweet mother of Nayru!" as she noticed what her finger had brushed against and paled.
"What's wrong?" Jaune asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Yang...please don't kill me... I accidentally sent a copy of our picture of Jaune from earlier to your sister." Pyrrha said, looking away.
Yang's hair shone brightly and her eyes turned red before she ripped a couple trees from the ground and tossed them into the sea; unintentionally killing a few octoroks. After a while, she sighed and her features returned to normal. "As much as I hate it...She would eventually see it after her wedding night...and it's not like you did it intentionally."
In her workshop, Ruby had fainted with a massive blush while drooling with her scroll in her hand.
"Gotta watch what you're pressing, Pyrrha." Jaune said teasingly, "Now if you excuse me, I have a shrine to reach." With a blast of Revali's Gale, he was launched upwards to the top of Koholit Rock where the Shrine was. After he emerged, they saw a Rito lounging on the cliff of Koholit Rock. However, wanting to get out of the storm, they teleported to Hateno Village.
Once they were back, they went to the Goddess Statue and Jaune traded the four Spirit Orbs for the last chunk of his Aura. With all of his Aura unlocked, they could literally feel it humming around Jaune...it felt...empowering to them, like they could do anything by his side...
Was that an effect of the Hero's Adaptability Semblance?
They returned home that night, hanging their wet clothes above the tub to dry as they changed into their night clothes. After a nice simple dinner of stir-fry with seared steak, they went to bed feeling very accomplished of themselves.
Jaune's Aura was fully unlocked. The Four Divine Beasts were freed from Calamity Ganon's power.
The next morning, Jaune left alone as Yang was talking to Ruby and Pyrrha to find the Shrines at Gerudo Mountain (between Gerudo Wastelands and Lake Region), Akkala Labyrinth, West Hyrule Plains, Ludfo's Bog, Ridgeland, and Typho Ruins.
"What was that picture yesterday?!" Ruby hissed at Yang and Pyrrha in her workshop.
"That was an accident." Pyrrha said, "We went with Jaune to Eventide Island, only to encounter a trial where we put three orbs in three altars with no equipment until we completed the trial."
"And HOW did I get that picture?!" Ruby breathed out as her cheeks turned red.
"THAT...was an accident." Pyrrha said, "I pressed the wrong button."
"So...you wanna delete that picture from your scroll?" Yang asked.
"I...I finished Nora and Blake's weapons; Magnhild and Shroud respectively, and I finished Ember Celica for you Yang." Ruby said, handing bronze, gold and red gauntlets coated in metal with a large circular area around it and visible black leather under it. "The savage lynel crusher formed the plates around the fingers and palm, knowing how powerful your Semblance is. I also combined it with metal of the Flameblade to light it on fire. The circular area is for you to load fire arrows and shoot it when you press a button on it."
"Nice! Momma likes!" Yang said, pulling Ember Celica on, "But don't change the subject."
"NEVER! IT'S MY SCROLL!" Ruby yelled, holding the scroll close to her as she ran with Yang chasing her. Blake was inspecting what looked like an Eightfold Blade that had a chain attaching a bomb arrow launcher (which looked like a small crossbow) to it, and Nora was holding what looked like an iron sledgehammer with a metallic handle and bronze colored hammer with an opening on one side like a drillshaft and an opening that fired bomb arrows with the power of the Falcon Bow.
After a few days, Ruby, Yang and Pyrrha teleported to the shrine closest to his location, and saw him sitting naked by a fire sleeping, a great Flameblade on his back.
"Momma likes..." Pyrrha and Yang said at the same time, drooling a little.
"Hey. Listen to this." Ruby said, pulling up her scroll to the Adventure Log which had a new mission under the setting "Shrine Quests." "Kass sang another song for Jaune. It says 'When the moon bleeds and the fiends are reborn/The monks will invite you as they have sworn. But first you must stand on the pedestal bare/With nothing between you and the night air.' So that's why Jaune's doing that."
"He has to be naked on the pedestal on the night of the Blood Moon." Pyrrha said.
"So...Wanna climb that mushroom-shaped rock Kass is on and spy on him?" Yang asked, and the two hesitantly nodded as Jaune stirred when night fell, quickly moving to the other side of the rock and climbing it out of Jaune's view. It took a few weeks for another blood moon to appear. Immediately after the Shrine, Jaune got dressed and went to the Great Fairy Cotera and got some of his armor enhanced; with his soldier's armor and greaves fully enhanced. He then prayed at the Goddess Statue to increase his stamina. During that time, Yang, Pyrrha, and Ruby teleported back to Hateno...with a few more pictures. He then went to the Tabantha Region and found a shrine hidden under a rock slab he moved away using kinetic energy during Stasis. Afterwards, he went to Typho Ruins.
He was glad he didn't bring Ruby to that one, as it was pitch black with monsters lurking everywhere, even a hinox. He didn't know how she'd react to such a...spooky place.
He came back with the Spirit Orbs, travel medallion, rubber armor, and barbarian helm. Praying at the Goddess Statue in Hateno, he soon entered his home (Master Sword out of power) and smiled as he saw everyone, with Ren slumped down on a couch as Nora was guzzling syrup. He placed the travel medallion on the floor by the table.
"With that, we can teleport right to home." Jaune said as Ruby hugged him with Yang and Pyrrha looking at him happily. "But tomorrow...it's time for the final Trial of the Sword."
They were close. Only eight shrines left before they could follow Ozpin's advice to open that "hidden power" he spoke about.
They couldn't wait!
