Remnants of the Wild

Return to Medoh, Naboris, and Ruta.

That morning Jaune watched the townsfolk of Hateno Village emerge and start their day. The Ancient short sword was on his back under his Ancient Shield ++. He was greeted by Ivee, the daughter of the general store shopkeep, who mentioned how great the weather was. Jaune had to agree. The sky was blue, the sun shone down brightly which made him shade his eyes with his yellow Hylian Hood.

No wonder Impa said that Hateno had been spared devastation from the Great Calamity. As he felt a surge announcing Revali's Gale having recharged, Jaune decided that...no matter how much of a jerk he may be...he still should visit Revali and face his trials...if only to silence any doubts Revali had. Soon enough...he spotted Nebb and got the young boy's attention.

"HRM?! OH?!" Nebb shouted with wide excited eyes, "Isn't that...the ancient short sword? You remembered our promise! Thanks! Let me see!"

"Go ahead." Jaune said, activating the sword and placing it in the boy's hands.

"WOW! It's exactly like the one in the books!" He shouted, starry eyed at the ancient weapon.

"Go ahead and keep it." Jaune said, "Make your grandfather proud and learn to use it."

"Really?!" Nebb said, tearing up a little. "Thank you!" With that, Nebb handed Jaune a diamond. "That was from my Grandpa. He always said, 'Give it to the one who can show you the real deal.' So don't worry about it. Thank you for showing me all those weapons, and for the sword...I'm sure my grandpa is also super happy...wherever he is!"

He felt a hand on his shoulder and saw Ruby smiling at him with Pyrrha and Yang gazing at him lovingly after his actions with the young boy. The Sheikah Scroll signaled that the "quest" to show the boy the weapons his grandfather once talked about was finished. Heading out of Hateno, he saved the two hearty truffle hunting sisters from a red and silver bokoblin, gaining a Mighty fish skewer for his actions. He switched the ancient shield for an unenchanted Royal Guard's shield. After that, he teleported to Kakariko with the rest of the group.

He walked up to Koko, the little girl standing by the cooking pot whose silver eyes were downcast with sorrow. "Koko wanted to make a honeyed apple, but Koko forgot the courser bee honey?!" She said, slumping over sadly, "Koko is a bad daughter who can't do anything right. Koko will never be like Mother..."

"Voila! Honey!" Jaune said, pulling the honey out of the materials pouch.

"Wait..." Koko said, her silver eyes widening, "Is this...Courser Bee Honey! Are you sure about this? Really? Thank you so much! Koko means it! Just stay right there a second!" With that, Koko started cooking, giving Jaune an extra serving of the energizing honeyed apple. "Koko remembers...When Koko had a fever, Mother would always cook this just for Koko. When mother made her special dessert, she always put some of this in it." With that, Koko starting crying, sobbing the word mother repeatedly as Jaune held her and let her cry into his armor.

"Koko..." Jaune said soothingly, rubbing her back.

"Koko..." Koko started to say, wiping her tears, "Koko...will do her best and try to be as good as you one day! Koko will get better and better! Koko promises! Koko was able to re-create Mother's dishes! Koko...feels better now! It's all thanks to you! Koko had made a decision! Koko will become a chef when Koko grows up! That way, Koko can make everyone happy with yummy food! This whole time, Koko has been relying on Mother's recipes. But from now on, Koko will come up with her own recipes too! To be honest...coming up with recipes is hard!"

Leaving Kakariko, they teleported to the Shrine near Riverside Stable and gave the man seeking the royal recipes a slice of Fruitcake he had made...which wasn't like traditional fruitcake, but instead more of a cake topped with fruit.

"Simply...delicious...How could I possibly describe this experience?" The man said with wide eyes, "A refreshing aroma reminiscent of galloping across these majestic planes on horseback... No, that undersells the dish's complexity. It fills me with heart-thumping intensity that seizes your very soul when you're spotted by a Guardian! A truly elegant dish! I never thought I would taste something so thrilling!" In return for the slice of Fruitcake and the recipe, he handed Jaune a silver rupee.

"So...what now fearless leader?" Nora asked.

"Everyone, get your Snowquill armor on. We're going to Tabantha Tower so I will face Revali's trials." Jaune said, as they went into the table to change. Once they were changed, they teleported to the tower and paraglided over to the monument. Kass stood by it, playing his normal tune as he hummed thoughtfully. When they all heard the same message from monk Maz, and locations appeared on the monument, they smiled that they were on the right track.

"Did that stone monument just start glowing?" Kass asked himself as he stopped playing, "I suppose that proves I didn't imagine it the first time." With that, he turned to the group. "Hm? How long have all of you been here? I didn't even notice your arrival! Ah, we meet again! And it seems you caught me...well, talking to myself. Look at that! There's one here too! One of the monuments mentioned in my teacher's unfinished song."

Kass let out a pleased sound. "Ah, sweet joy! How glorious to sing this song in front of the real monument...~Wind's ally soars the land of cloud. Medoh's champion ever proud. The hero's power shall grow. Seek trials monuments show! One, shoot the flame dragon's horn. Two, race down a peak rings adorn. Three, shoot four targets to win. Champion, the trials begin~"

Ren, with his keen eye, took a glance at the images and placed three marks on the map. After that, they teleported to Rito Village. Hopefully, they could get more clarity about the trials from the locals. As luck would have it, they saw the Rito who distracted Vah Medoh for Jaune carrying his son on his shoulders heading for the Flight Range, and told Jaune that it was "shooting four targets at once". That was important information for one of the trials.

After that, they met up with Elder Kaneli. "The Flame dragon? I heard it was here." Jaune asked.

"Hoo hoo! So you wish to hear about the blazing dragon?" Kaneli asked, "Well, you're in luck. A dragon was recently spotted near Tanagar Canyon. It's acting a bit odd, so we're concerned it may eventually cause trouble for our village. That is why I have asked the village guard, Mazli, to keep a close eye one the creature."

Checking their maps, they saw the canyon was next to the location Ren marked. On the way, they cleared out a lialfos lookout platform and Jaune switched his Royal Guard's Shield with a Royal Shield. Finally arriving to the pinned location, they found Mazli standing on a cliff, who told them that the dragon always flies through the canyon at night...and there was a strange light around its horns. Seeing that it was now 15 minutes after midnight, they stood besides the guard and waited. They could see Dinraal approaching from the left. Seeing a blue glow surround Dinraal's horns, Jaune paraglided over and shot the horn with an arrow, which made the glow vanish as a Shrine appeared.

He made his way into the Shrine, appearing within a half hour with the first of three Medoh Emblems. With a nod to each other, they teleported to a shrine near the peak of the Hebra Mountains. It was the only place that made sense that was near Rito Village, and Ren had marked it. Exiting the shrine, they saw a glowing ring on the trail. Jaune gave a smile; it was time to shield surf. He slid through the pathways down the mountain; twisting and turning to follow the rings that appeared. Once, he had to pull out his paraglider and stick his boots into the handles of the shield to keep it from falling as he paraglided. Eventually, he came to a cavern and a Shrine rose from the ground nearby. Upon activating it, once he was heading inside, the rest of the group teleported to the Shrine. He emerged with the second Medoh Emblem, with the last obviously being at the Flight Range.

They teleported to the Shrine closest to the Flight Range, and grinned when they saw a blue glow with a Sheikah Symbol above it on the targets. Jaune gulped down an Enduring Elixer and hopped into an updraft, pulling out a Falcon Bow and shooting four targets within 30 seconds while closing his right eye and letting his instincts take over. As soon as that happened, the glow from the other targets faded and a Shrine rose from the ground. It was actually hard to spot, as it was at the bottom of the range, but Jaune eventually made his way into it. He eventually emerged with a Sheild of the Mind's Eye and the last Medoh Emblem.

After that, they teleported to the Divine Beast Vah Medoh. Hearing Maz starting to repeat the words he said at Vah Rudania, Jaune closed his eyes as the Medoh Emblems were ripped out of him and his heart thumped loudly in his ears. He had saved his Champion Abilities just for the challenges ahead. Jaune opened his eyes to a misty version of Medoh's back. WindGrimm Ganon staring him down as it growled in anger. He quickly checked his inventory; he was wearing ordinary Snowquill armor; and had a Falcon Bow, Duplex Bow, Phrenic Bow, 100 arrows, 5 bomb arrows, a feathered edge, raw bird drumstick, an endura shroom, and wildberry.

He dodged the first strike, but was hit by a blue beam as he aimed with the Falcon Bow. Watching it, he stunned it with Urbosa's Fury before he slashed at it, only hurting it slightly. After dodging a few more blasts and a tornado, he went to Medoh's air fan and launched upwards, time seeming to slow as he let multiple arrows fly into the Grimm's eye. After unleashing Urbosa's Fury a second time, it screeched and released the missile-shaped weapons it used to launch smaller Guardian Beams. Jaune was only down three chunks of his Aura; still well within green on everyone's scrolls. He used Revali's Gale to launch upwards as it prepared an attack, landing more arrows into it's eye, but a harsh landing after his grip on his paraglider slipped took a decent-sized chunk from his Aura. He did this again, landing four arrows into the Grimm, landing nicely this time. He then scanned the darkened realm, and saw blue streams of the Grimm's teleportation moving to a blind spot, so he unleashed Urbosa's fury.

Urbosa's Fury went dormant to recharge, and the Grimm recovered before Jaune could slash at it, so he used Revali's Gale to launch himself upwards while turning to the beast and hit it with seven arrows. It was wounded badly, as Malice dripped from it's eye and body in a sludge-like manner. Both Urbosa's Fury and Revali's Gale were now recharging. He pulled out the bow, watching it's erratic movements, and let and arrow fly, making it's eye explode before the rest of it followed in a ear-piercing screech.

Jaune opened his eyes to see Kass playing near Medoh.

"Perhaps meeting you here was no coincidence." Kass said, "~Recall Medoh's champion of flight, before he met a frightful plight. Revali's wonders were a sight to see, so the Princess made her plea~"

Jaune's eyes met Revali's and a memory was shared between them.

Revali was working on mastering his skill, scolding Zelda for eavesdropping. Telling her not to come crying to him when Link loses his confidence after seeing him in action after quickly destroying every target in the range with his bomb arrows.

"Hmmm...It seems the Rito Champion was not one to share his feelings." Kass said.

A green orb hit Jaune's chest. "I never thought you would do so well. Nevertheless, Revali's Gale should be more efficient now. Theoretically, as you are now, it should be possible for you to...best Ganon..." Revali said from on top of Medoh, inspecting his wings with a hint of pride in his eyes.

Jaune's version of Revali's Gale was now Revali's Gale +.

By the time they teleported home, it was already 3:50 in the morning. Jaune sat on his bed, drumming his fingers on his legs as he thought.

"We should do Urbosa's challenges next." Jaune said suddenly, "Her skill was extremely useful against the other challenges, and I wonder if WaterGrimm Ganon would be weak to it..."

"That sounds lovely!" Pyrrha said, as Ruby made an annoyed face.

"I think I'll stick here with Ren and Nora...they'll want some...alone time and Purah needs my help on an experiment." Ruby said, "We're testing to see if we can make other versions of Sheikah Scrolls for public use." He smiled and ruffled her hair, before standing up and leaving the house suddenly.

He hadn't said anything then, but he could have sworn he heard Kass on a rocky outcropping on the way to the Eventide Island Shrine. Sure enough, as the sun was rising, Jaune climbed up the formation and saw Kass there.

"Why, Hello! I certainly didn't expect to see anyone else up here. How fortunate to cross paths with you again! Did you come to see the sea? This oddly shaped rock pillar we're standing on is the subject of a song. Would you like to hear it?" Kass asked him.

"Yes, please." Jaune responded with a smile.

"~An ancient hero spoke these words: 'One day I'll return to fight evil. My cache is at 17 of 24. The rock will point at it's reveal'~". Kass sung, "My cache? Could it be a hidden stash of money?" Jaune stood there, watching the shadow of the rock move counterclockwise until it hit Jaune a little after noon.

The shadow would point to where the cache was hidden, and he estimated the shadow's movement and went to a rock, where Magnesis revealed a chest with a gold rupee-worth 300 rupees.

"What? So the hero's savings amount to nothing more than a single gold rupee?" Kass said in disappointment as Jaune climbed back up, "Hmph, well, hero though he was, he was much more rich in character than wealth...Still, that is a fair sum. I hope you'll make good use of it." There was a certain knowing gleam in Kass's eyes. "I will be heading back to Rito Village after visiting the other two Divine Beasts. I hope to meet you and your friends someday, I am preparing a special song." With that, Kass put the accordion on his back and took to the skies.

Teleporting back home, Jaune collapsed into his bed and slept until the next morning. After that, he visited the Great Fairy in Kakariko to have his rubber armor and stealth mask enhanced. Nora had locked the door to her and Ren's room (thankfully it had an attached bathroom), Blake was playing a two person video game on her scroll with Pollux, and Weiss was trying to get Poseidon over his fear of large bodies of water. Jaune threw on his Gerudo disguise as Yang and Pyrrha took turns changing in the bathroom, before the three of them teleported to Naboris before heading along the cliff to where the Scroll marked the monument location, putting a warm doublet over their outfits. A decayed Spider Guardian attacked them, shattering Jaune's Shield of the Mind's Eye as he blocked it when it targeted Yang, but Jaune equipped his unenchanted Royal Guard's Shield and deflected it's beam back to it's eye three times; causing it to explode.

Approaching the monument, they heard the words Maz said at the earlier monuments. "This stone monument has survived for 10,000 years. What secrets does it hold..." Kass said to himself. "Oh! How embarrassing. I'm afraid traveling on my own encourages me to talk to myself on occasion. As, such a rush of happiness I feel at being able to sing while the Divine Beast watches over us...~Lightning king of the desert. Naboris's Champion, the stalwart. The hero's power shall grow. Seek trials monuments show. One, fight the brute of the sand. Two, chase rings upon the land. Three, throw the orb underground. Champion, trials abound.~"

Yang and Pyrrha took a good look at the images, before marking down what they thought the locations were. Nevertheless, the three teleported to the Shrine outside of Gerudo Town, taking off their warm doublets. They saw Captain Teake talking to a door guard to Riju's palace.

"Sav'aaq!" Teake greeted Jaune, "To think that the Gerudo would be able to learn something of combat from a Hylian...Will you consider joining our forces?"

"I'd love to!" Jaune said, slightly embarrassed.

"That's reassuring to hear, but I already spoke to the chief about you...she said you're already on a very important mission. Once you've finished that task, we'd gladly accept you alongside us. By the way...I hear a strange type of Molduga was spotted near the East Barrens recently. A Hylian named Traysi went there looking for...how did she put it... 'a hot scoop'. I hope she didn't bite off more than she can chew."

Once they approached Lady Riju, as soon as she heard that Jaune was attempting the same trials Lady Urbosa did, she admitted the orb was stolen by the Yiga Clan.

"Perhaps it is fate, as that orb was made to be used for the very trial you are challenging. I wish you luck in finding it." Riju said. First, the three of them rented a sand seal to attempt to seek the only trial without having a location that had been confirmed; chasing the rings. They traveled a fair distance before Jaune hid behind a dune to change into his Desert Voe outfit before reattaching himself to his sand seal. Still, he thanked every God and Goddess of Hyrule and Remnant for Pyrrha and Yang...

Because they had accurately guessed the chasing rings trial location.

Eventually, the trail of rings ended at some ruins, and a Shrine appeared from the ground. After Jaune emerged from the Shrine with Rudania's Emblem, they teleported to the Shrine near the Yiga Clan hideout. Feeling the temperature drop drastically, they took turns going behind the Shrine and changing into their Snowquill armor before continuing on the path. They were ambushed by a few Yiga archers, but they were quickly defeated with no loss to their Aura. Arriving at the doorway, they found it blocked off.

"How are we supposed to get in?" Yang asked.

"Through the back, I guess." Jaune answered, and they climbed up the cliffs around the door. Reaching the location Jaune defeated Master Kohga at, they dropped down, seeing the brother and sister Hylian Treasure hunters standing at either side.

"I hear the Yiga Clan were taken out by a traveling swordsman." The brother-Mils-said, "And yet...There are still an awful lot of 'em around! They seem to be hoarding bananas too. Maybe they're still up to no good?! I know one thing for sure...the orb they stole from the Gerudo tribe is in their second floor storage area. But getting there is too dangerous."

"Whatever you do." Mina-the sister- said, "Do not throw the sacred orb into that big, gaping hole like that old legend says."

The three exchanged looks. Now they knew the location of the orb and how to complete it's trial. Once inside, they felt a strange Aura blocking their Semblances. There were four Yiga bladesmen patrolling, so they sneaked by the first two and hid together in a gigantic hollow barrel to move to the ladder. Unfortunately, they were spotted as they tried moving the barrel, and a Yiga swordsman whistled, making wooden bars fall down blocking the doorways and two Yiga archers to appear. However, that strange Aura blocking their Semblances vanished and Yang's hair lit up as Pyrrha deflected swords with her Polarity as Jaune charged forward with the Protector's Shield and Master Sword.

To say it was one-sided in the heroes favor was an understatement. Each Yiga member was sent fleeing without their Aura and the doors opened up.

"Heh...Good warm up!" Yang said, posing proudly with Ember Celica. Still, now they were free to pick up the twelve mighty bananas and sacred orb from the second floor storage. Jaune then threw the orb into the pit, and heard an alter ring; signaling the orb went in and a Shrine appeared. As Jaune went into it, he thought he could hear Pyrrha and Yang yelling at the travelers who wanted to sell the orb sacred to the Gerudo. After Jaune emerged with the second emblem, they quickly changed into their Gerudo Vai and Voe-in Jaune's case-outfits behind the shrine and teleported to the desert at the Misa Sume shrine, which was closest to the location reported to have that strange Molduga. As they traveled, they spotted smoke coming from a rock formation; obviously Traysi had made it safely, and a gigantic Molduga jumping from the sand as Yang and Pyrrha tightened their grips on Jaune's shoulders.

"You...faced something...like THAT?!" Pyrrha whispered harshly in his ear.

"Hop onto the ruins. They can't sense you through stone." Jaune said, before they continued their journey to the beast. Seeing a massive molduga with yellow scales and red underbelly swallow the bomb before Jaune attacked it with his Royal Broadsword, the weapon dealing little damage before it broke on the beast's rock-hard scales was very intimidating; as were the multiple weapons jammed into it's back that it didn't even feel. He changed for one of his two Thunderspears and continued attacking it by luring it with a bomb to stun it before the Thunderspear shattered, making him draw the Master Sword. Soon enough, the beast roared and turned black before vanishing into smoke, leaving behind the rusty weapons stuck in it's back and two chests it swallowed.

Pyrrha picked up an attack enchanted Gerudo spear and throwing spear, while Yang picked up an attack enchanted golden claymore. As they picked up supplies, with Jaune finding two Royal Bows in the chest-one max durability enchanted, one quick shot enchanted, a Shrine rose from the rock formation nearby. Seeing that the sun was starting to set, they thew on their warm doublets over their tops and Jaune went into the Shrine, emerging with the last emblem.

With a determined glance shared between the three of them, Pyrrha and Yang's hearts still racing from the sight of the Moldugking, they teleported to Naboris. Hearing the once again repeated words of monk Maz, Jaune closed his eyes, letting the Naboris Emblems be torn from him. He awoke to a misty version of Naboris's interior, staring down LightningGrimm Ganon. Jaune had Desert Voe armor, Urbosa's Daybreaker shield, a Shield of the Mind's eye, Urbosa's Scimitar of the Seven, an Edge of Duality, a raw meat, zapshroom, and volt fruit. This put Jaune at a disadvantage, as most of his gear was metal. Plus he didn't have a bow.

Still, Jaune paid no attention to it, dodging it's attacks and unleashing Urbosa's Fury once to stun it until it screeched and flew upwards, electrifying it's weapon and shield. Jaune's Aura was taking a beating, dropping nearly to half; obviously in the yellow, but still he did not back down, turning it's Guardian Beam against it with Daruk's Protection after shocking it with it's own attack by using a bar as a lightning when it landed a slash on him, dropping his Aura to less than half, he used it to his advantage, slashing at the Grimm until it exploded.

Jaune opened his eyes to see Kass paying near Naboris while Pyrrha and Yang looked at him in relief.

"~Recall Naboris's champion of sand before she vanished from the land. Chief Urbosa's heart was strong, so the princess came along~" Kass sang, as Jaune's eyes met Urbosa's and a memory was shared between them.

Urbosa agreed to help Zelda, both being formal, then laughing that night with her, calling her "Little Bird". Urbosa and Zelda were attacked by two Yiga assassins, with Urbosa driving them off effortlessly. She then told Zelda that the nickname "Little Bird" came from Urbosa's friend...Zelda's late mother...that sometimes she forgets herself and gets lost in the past.

"You are an impressive Voe." Urbosa said from Naboris, "You may now wield Urbosa's Fury more often. You are the Pride of Hyrule, hero. Take care of our land, and rescue our new King. I'm leaving that honor in your hands." With that, a yellow orb of Aura struck Jaune's chest...

His version of Urbosa's Fury was now Urbosa's Fury +.

Teleporting back to Hateno, they changed into their night clothes and went to bed. The next morning, everyone teleported to a Shrine near Vah Ruta, in their normal outfits. Jaune used his upgraded Revali's Gale to create updrafts for everyone to ride on up to the mark on their map of where the monument was. Hearing the same words Monk Maz spoke at the first monument, they watched as images appeared.

"That light..." Kass spoke to himself, "Is it a reaction to someone nearby? Is it me...or is it..." He turned to see the group. "Ah we meet again. Ah, sweet joy! How glorious to sing this song in the very land it describes...~Reaching skyward from waters blue. Ruta's champion, a heart so true. The Hero's power shall grow, seek trials monuments show. One, find what light's path shows. Two, conquer the ancient foes. Three, chase rings of the waterfall. Champion, the trials call!~"

Ren took a close look at the images on the monument, pulling up the map on his scroll before placing three pins. While this was happening, Jaune jumped down a bit behind rocks and changed into the Zora armor. They debated before deciding to go to the first pin; near Mikau Lake. On the way, however, Jaune paused to look out at the East Reservoir Lake; the location he had gone into Vah Ruta to free his first Divine Beast. He frowned, looking at his hand, recalling how...weak he was when he went into Ruta.

"You've come a long way, huh?" Ruby asked, placing a hand on his arm.

"Not just me..." Jaune said, gazing at the Sheikah Eye on Ruby's forehead, "All of us have grown together."

"Yeah! Team RWBY and JNPR! The best teams in Hyrule!" Ruby said, clapping her hand onto his as they grinned; silver eyes staring into blue. Jaune gave one last glance at the lake and continued to Mikau Lake. First, they would stop at Zora's Domain, and pick up another Zora Sword for Weiss. Besides, they would run into the Zora's home before Mikau Lake at their current location as a fox ran along, darting around Jaune's legs. However, this was put on hold when he heard that Mei, Fronk's wife, had been washed away to Lake Hylia during Ruta's rampage and had yet to come back, so he teleported to Lake Hylia in order to find her.

That evening, he found her swimming north of the island the Lake Hylia Shrine was at, humming to herself.

"~We got a big haul today! Fishing is so much fun!" She hummed to herself.

"Excuse me. Do you know Fronk?" Jaune said, pulling her from her thoughts.

"Hm? Fronk? Yes, he's my darling. My love! Why, is something wrong?" Mei responded.

"Yes...You've been missing for about a month now and he's worried sick." Jaune said, probably underestimating the time it had been since Ruta was appeased.

"...WAAAAAH!" Mei screeched in shock, "My darling! I'm Sooooorry! I completely forgooooooot! I got carried awaaaay! I-I-I've gotta get back home right away! Here, you can have these!" With that, Mei gave him five Staminoka Bass and quickly swam off in the direction of Zora's Domain. Just as he was about to head back, he heard a familiar groaning sound as the wind picked up around him. He climbed onto the island on Lake Hylia the Shrine was located on and knelt as Farosh flew in a circle around him, the electricity surrounding its horn as it's eyes stared at him, the Triforce of Courage glowing through his gauntlet on his Zora Armor in it's presence. With a final roar, Farosh dove beneath the waters of Lake Hylia. With a respectful nod in it's direction, he teleported to the Shrine in Zora's Domain.

As night fell, Jaune saw Kilton's shop on a hill overlooking the domain, and quickly moved over and sold some monster parts in return for a monster saddle for a horse. As he continued on, a female Zora guard named Torfeau called him over asking for help. There was a Hinox at Ralis Pond. Jaune agreed to help, knowing it would be on the way back from his second trial. After he found a Silverscale Spear and a Silver Shield, he was ran into by Ruby.

"Hey Jaune! This place is even cooler than I heard about!" Ruby said as the rest of RWBY and JNPR approached them, "Did you know the glow is due to the Luminous Stones they put into their columns!" Reunited, Jaune stretched as he ran to Mikau Lake where he saw a glowing ring.

"Good luck! You've got this hero!" Yang said, giving him a thumbs up. They watched as he ran through the first one before swimming up the waterfalls through the rest leading to Shatterback point. When a Shrine appeared on their maps, they knew Jaune had done it. The first trial was over, and Jaune would have the first of three Ruta Emblems.

Jaune emerged and went up and faced the Red-maned Lynel after receiving the orb. He was confident in his abilities, and there was no better test than a Lynel. Sure enough, with Master Sword in hand the red-maned Lynel fell without even a single blow to Jaune's Aura.

"Nicely done, Jaune." Pyrrha said while clapping while Yang whistled. After that, they all headed to the pin near Knuckel Island. After finding another Korok and clearing out a Lizalfos camp, they arrived at the location, seeing a group of Zora camping nearby, including Muzu.

"Ah! It is you, Jaune." Muzu greeted warmly (a drastic change from their first meeting), "What brings you to this place?"

"I heard about a trial here, what about you?" Jaune asked.

"We are here at the behest of Prince Sidon, who tasked us with keeping watch on this area. This is the land where Princess Mipha completed her sacred trial. Now, the signs that appeared 100 years ago have returned... Princess Mipha said this about this plot of land..'While the morning sun is newly born, follow the path of light to the trial.' I'm not sure where they came from, but she repeated that often about the trial..." Muzu said, and the group looked at each other.

The trial would appear at sunrise. Sitting by the campfire, they awoke the next morning to see the reflection of a sunrise illuminating a blue ring. Jaune paraglided to it, dropping altitude occasionally, before swimming through the ring, making a Shrine rise from underwater. He soon emerged with a Ruta Emblem, and made a call to Pyrrha with his Scroll.

"Pyrrha, can you have everyone teleport to the Dagah Keek Shrine by the Veiled Falls? I'll meet you there." Jaune said, before ending the call and teleporting with Pyrrha quickly relaying the message, RWBY and JNPR following suit. As Jaune swam up Veiled Falls, the others climbed up the cliff. Jaune waited at the top, helping everyone up over the top. They followed the grassy hills on the top of the mountains, heading in the direction of Ren's pin.

As they ran, Jaune handed Weiss a spare Frostblade. Finally arriving at the pin, they saw multiple Flying Guardians moving about. Not only that, but it started raining, meaning that bomb arrows wouldn't detonate. Ruby looked a little conflicted; not wanting to see such ancient technology destroyed but enjoying collecting the parts it left behind as Jaune destroyed the first one, badly damaging his Lynel bow and deflecting its beam back into it. After the last Guardian was destroyed, Jaune had used Mipha's Grace and still had a decent chunk of his Aura gone. A shrine rose up from a nearby hill, and he went inside and got the last Ruta Emblem.

However, they didn't head straight for Ruta. Instead, they headed back for Zora's domain to let Mipha's Grace recharge. Plus, it was the perfect opportunity to find the Hinox at Ralis Pond. Upon finding the blue Hinox, Jaune showed Ruby how to take one down by demonstrating it's attacks and how to dodge it, all without getting hit. Behind them, Yang eyed him while waggling her eyebrows and Pyrrha beamed in pride. The first Hinox he came across hurt him, and now he could take it down without a hit!

Weiss ran behind a rock, gagging at the horrible smell from the destroyed beast. As an apology, Jaune gave her one of his spare Royal Broadswords, while taking the Royal Halberd and sword from the remains of the Hinox. The next morning, they arrived at Zora's Domain. They went to visit Torfeau first, as Mipha's Grace still had 10 hours left to recharge.

"Hey!" The Zora guard greeted, "Hm...that stench...Did you perhaps...defeat that Hinox by Ralis Pond?"

"Yes." Jaune said, eyeing a nearby bathing pool hoping to wash the stench off his armor.

"Whaaaat?! You really did?!" Torfeau asked in shock, "I just...I can't...Wow! Th-Thank you. Really! I knew it...The Champion who saved the domain is in a whole other league! Please, take this. Consider it a small token of my immense gratitude." With that, she handed him a silver rupee. Once he got into a changing room, he switched into the Tunic of the Wild, which made Nora giggle, and hopped into the bathing pond and started cleaning the Zora armor.

Once that was done, he went back and changed back into his Zora armor, now smelling a lot better. Once that was done, he went to a public cooking pot and made Enduring Meaty Rice Balls, Energizing Salt-Grilled Crab, Hearty Salt-Grilled Greens, Hearty Mushroom Skewer, Energizing Fish skewer, Enduring Elixir, Mighty Seafood Skewer, Mighty Simmered Fruit, and a Tough Seafood Skewer. Knowing how Yang's Semblance worked, he made her a Mighty Seafood Skewer while he made Pyrrha a Mighty Simmered Fruit and Ruby a Hasty Mushroom Skewer.

Watching the sun start to set, they headed to the East Reservoir Lake, where Jaune showed them the spot he rested before facing Ruta. He placed Ruby, Pyrrha, and Yang in the bed and laid down on the hard ground next to it, quickly falling asleep.

That night, the Blood Moon rose.

He awoke the next morning and hopped out of bed, eyes widening as he did not remember falling asleep in the bed. Yang laughed at his expression while Pyrrha smiled while holding back her laughs, and Ruby giggled. He gave them a glance, conveying his destination without as much as a word. Mipha's Grace had recharged...they were going to Ruta.

Hearing the monk begin to speak, Jaune closed his eyes, feeling Ruta's Emblems ripped out of him. He awoke in a misty version of Ruta's interior, in blue Zora armor, facing WaterGrimm Ganon. Quickly checking over his inventory revealed he had Mipha's Lightscale Trident, two Ceremonial Tridents, a Silver Bow with ten arrows, a Hyrule Bass, Hylian Shroom, and Fleet-Lotus seeds.

Once again, he was at a disadvantage.

Dodging it's initial strike, he sped forward and dealt a decent deal of damage with the Lightscale Trident, inwardly thanking Pyrrha and Mipha for the polearm lessons. He switched with a Ceremonial Trident before damaging it with Urbosa's Fury, causing it to flood the room and raise platforms. He quickly moved to a platform and unleashed Urbosa's Fury again, damaging it badly as Malice oozed from it's body before it teleported, giving Jaune a chance to strike it with Urbosa's Fury again. Watching it teleport, He surrounded himself with Revali's Gale and launched upwards, seeing a red beam follow him from the Grimm's eye, he took a breath and time seemed to slow down as he pulled out the Silver Bow and fired two arrows into it's eye. It fell down and Jaune stabbed at it with the Ceremonial Spear, but it got up, Malice pouring from it's body as it teleported and Jaune crouched as Revali's Gale formed around him. However, he dodged an ice attack from around him and flew upwards, aiming the tip of the Ceremonial Spear downwards into the Grimm's head.

It screamed and exploded, and Jaune awoke in front of Ruta. Kass was playing nearby.

"Are you still adrift in thought?" Kass asked, "Ah! Wandering around here and listening to anecdotes about Champion Mipha and talking to her has truly invigorated me. ~Recall the Champion of Ruta's wrath, before she walked her chosen path. Mipha's kindness was known to all, which is why the princess came to call.~" Jaune's eyes locked with Mipha's and a memory was shared between them.

Zelda was informing her who the other champions were, and Link was part of them, aided by Jaune. She gazed down to her baby brother swimming at the bottom of the Veiled falls before she slid down the waterfall and had him hold onto her back while she swam up the waterfall so he could get a feel of how to scale waterfalls. She spun in the air, landing gracefully while setting Sidon gently on the ground.

"Sweet Sidon, should anything ever happen to me, I'm trusting on you to protect our home. Understood?" She asked, with Sidon nodding.

"Now...how about we go one more time?" She asked, with Sidon giving a huge grin and making a pose he would later be known for; making Mipha laugh.

"Hmm...Though she was known for her kindness, it seems the Zora princess could be quite strict when necessary." Kass said, as Jaune emerged from the memory.

"You're so strong...so much stronger than before." Mipha said as a blue orb of Aura hit Jaune's chest, "Mipha's Grace will recharge faster than ever. As powerful as you are, I am certain you can save Hyrule. I believe in you."

Jaune's version of Mipha's Grace was now Mipha's Grace +.

"I will be going to the Great Plateau, overlooking Hyrule Castle to try and complete my late teacher's song." Kass said, putting his accordion on his back, "After that, I would like all of you to meet me at Rito Village." With that, Kass flew into the sky.

"I am Maz Koshia. I commend you on making this far. Your final Trial awaits at the Shrine of Resurrection. Place the Sheikah Scroll in the pedestal. Go and face your destiny." Maz's voice echoed in the air.

"Yes! We're so close!" Ruby cheered as Nora threw Magnhild into the air, catching it as she whooped.

"That Giant Pig won't know what hit him!" Nora said.

Now with the Four Divine Beasts conquered, they headed home to Hateno to prepare. While Ren and the girls rested, Jaune teleported to Hyrule Castle...he wanted to see something and make sure it was there for Ruby. Sure enough, there, in a stone pedestal, was a Royal Guard's Sword...the closest thing the Sheikah could make to a replica of the Master Sword.

He knew Ruby was disappointed that the legendary Master Sword refused to even be usable by Ruby, as she lifted it once and it's power went dormant; making it about as useful a weapon as a paperweight, only coming back to life when he grasped it. So, the Sheikah replica should make her happy. With a grin to himself, he teleported back to Hateno, heading this time to the Ancient Tech Lab. He bought the remaining enemy pictures, so he would know what he would find around Hyrule and where.

He also bought some bomb arrows for Nora and Blake at the general store. Once he made it back home, it was early morning.

Everyone was tired, yet excited at the same time...For Hyrule's freedom was finally within their grasp!
