Chapter 46.5 A knight's devotion

The knight stood, gazing. He stood still, unmoving and motionless for almost an eternity, waiting. He stood, admiring his elder cousins sorted out to battle, living up to their name. He stood, watching his brothers and sisters, the best of his family, young, strong and noble, roaming the battlefield. He stood, watching and admiring, collecting dust on his once shiny armor.

A knight of steel he was, the best of knights, the strongest knight. But what of a knight without a master to serve. What of a tool without a purpose. In the end, they are useless junk, people said.

Nevertheless, the metal knight stood tall, unyielding in the face of contempt and mockery. He stood there in the usual spot, waiting for one arrival, the one that would change it all. He waited with an unwavering faith, that that day would come. That day would come, his fated one would come to claim him, accepting him as that person's one and only knight, the knight believed. His faith was strong and solid. And so he stood, waiting.

The cherry trees started blooming when he began waiting for his destined one. Since then, cherry petals scattered through the wind thrice. The cherry flowers blossomed and faded thrice. Still, the knight stood, waiting.

The dust collected on his armor was thick, layered. The spiders weaved their webs, making the once shiny armor their home.

Still, the knight stood. Still, the knight waited.

PS

Merry Christmas, everyone.

A very short chapter, I know. My laptop is currently on a full maintenance trip so I typed this chapter with my phone. I intend to include this chapter further in the future but… oh well.

On a side note, can anyone guess the identity of the knight in this chapter? I hope you all do.
