Chapter 27

Well it has been a very long time since you all have heard from me. I'm really sorry about that, I've just been very busy and didn't have much free time left to keep going. Not much else to say besides hope you enjoy this chapter.

(Matthew POV)

I was desperately trying to get Nicholas to stop, but he wasn't listening. He just kept heading towards town.

"Come on Nicholas, we can't just walk into town, we'll get arrested. Please just stop!" I begged him.

"Relax Matt, nothing is going to happen, besides, we're not actually going into town." He said, trying to calm me down.

"What do you mean, Magnezone is in town isn't he, how are we going to get to him without going into town?" I asked him.

"He hangs out near the city limits or the café during these hours." He responded.

The two of us had finally made it near the entrance of town, and sure enough, Magnezone was standing near the front gate talking to a Blastoise. I frowned when I saw his face, he had seen us, and he wasn't very happy.

"What in the world do you two think you're doing? What point of do not come into town do you not understand!" He yelled at us.

"We were wondering if we could talk to you in private." Nicholas asked quietly, still stunned from the angry police officer.

Magnezone floated quietly for a moment before speaking in a normal voice.

"Look, I know what this is about, but I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do. I'm doing this for a reason, for your safety." He told us.

"It's not fair." Nicholas complained, "We didn't do anything wrong. You can't do this!" he started to raise his voice.

"Enough!" Magnezone yelled, "I am not arguing over this, I have far too much to do. My decision stands, now go home!" He ordered us.

Nicholas kicked up dust before turning around and storming off, Mumbling to himself.

"That means you to Matthew, get lost." He said, turning to face me.

I nodded before turning around and running after Nicholas, who was going attacking a tree, still mumbling things to himself.

"Come on, you didn't really think that would work did you?" I tried to calm him down.

"Of course I didn't, but it was worth a shot." He answered, taking deep breaths and pacing back and forth.

"Come on, lets head home and get something to eat, I'm starving." I started heading down the path.

Nicholas let out a small chuckle and started following close behind.

We arrived home to find William sitting on the couch glaring at us, I could already tell this night wasn't over yet.

"And just where did you two go?" He questioned us.

"We went for a walk, I wanted to calm down a little bit." I answered him.

"Oh really, so you weren't just in town begging Magnezone to change his mind." He said, raising his voice, angry that I was lying.

"What are you talking about William?" Nicholas asked him.

"I heard you slam the door, so I decided to follow you and see what you were up to." He responded, getting a little bit closer to us.

We both got quiet and just stared at the ground, I knew we shouldn't have left, now we were really in trouble.

"Why can't you two just listen for once in your lives. You two are so hard headed in should be in a story book, I don't think I can do this much longer. If you two can't listen to what your told, I'm afraid I'll have to think about suspension from the team, or worse." He scolded.

"What, no please William, don't kick us off the team, We'll listen from now on, I Promise." I begged and pleaded, Nicholas did to.

"Relax Matthew, I'm not doing anything, I'm just telling you this needs to stop okay." He smiled and patted me on the back.

We smiled and agreed, William got up and stretched and started to head up the stairs for the night. Nicholas and I decided to do the same, it wasn't late, but I was very tired and didn't feel like doing anything else. I stayed up and helped William with some teamwork before heading to bed for the night. I didn't know what would happen tomorrow but I wasn't really excited to find out.

When I woke up the next morning I got up and stretched. My back didn't hurt anymore and I felt like I could take on the world. I ran downstairs and found Nicholas in the kitchen eating breakfast. I sat down next to him and started eating as well. My mother had made a special breakfast for today, it was a special type of pastry mixed with mixed berries with some sort of glaze on top. It was something her mother had taught her how to make when she was young, I always thought it was more of a dessert thing, but she'd never agree.

Nicholas had already eaten several and had reached more another, but I swatted him away before he could grab it. He yelped before shouting at me and reaching for it again, this time I pulled it away from him.

"You had your share already, this one is mine." I said before putting it on my plate.

"No it's not, you took like five you liar!" He yelled at me.

"Yeah, well you took more than me, so it's mine." I yelled back.

He shouted in disagreement and jumped at me, almost knocking me out of my chair. The two of us continued fight until William came in and made us stop.

"What are you two going on about? You're going to wake everybody up." William sighed in frustration.

We both started explaining about why it was ours and not the others.

"Look that's all fine, but figure it out quietly, I'm sure you can handle that right, good. I'm heading off early to take care of some things, meet me in the usual spot in a couple of hours." William said before heading out the front door.

The two off us sat in silence for five minutes before Nicholas finally said something.

"Hey Matthew, why don't we settle this outside." He suggested.

"you want to fight over a stupid pastry, are you crazy, what about your injuries." I asked him.

"Don't worry about me, I feel like normal again. Besides, it won't take much energy to kick your butt." He said before heading out the back door.

"Joke all you want, cause you're the one who's going to lose." I retorted and followed him outside.

The two of us walked away from the house so that we wouldn't cause any damage. When we finally decided we were far enough, I turned to face him. Only to have to jump out of the way of a water gun.

"Really attacking me while my back is turned." I Complained.

"Stop complaining, all is fair in a battle Matthew." He said before I attacked him with the same attack.

He managed to dodge my attack and was charging straight for me. I looked down and saw he was charging a razor shell, I had to think fast before he could hit me. I didn't have any physical attacks so I quickly tried to jump out of the way, but he was too smart for that, he quickly shifted and hit me from behind. I was sent flying forwards but managed to recover quickly. I stood back up and managed to launch a sonic boom in retaliation. If he wasn't busy mocking me, he could have dodged it, but unfortunately, he couldn't be bothered. The attack hit him square in the chest and knocked into a tree. I took advantage of the situation and charged up an aqua jet. Nicholas had just gotten up when I slammed straight into him, he was sent backwards yet again, but this time, he was mad. He managed to get back up and was glaring at me with determination.

"That was pretty good Matt, but you'll need to do better than that." He said, laughing.

I was surprised, I had already hit him twice but he didn't even seem to show it, this was going to take longer than I thought.

(a few moments later)

I was fell backwards and my back slammed into the fence. I looked up and saw Nicholas mocking me from above.

"Come on Matthew, that really can't be all you got." He taunted me.

I jumped up and tried to hit him once again, but ended up back on the ground again. He laughed at me again and started to suggest I give up.

All of a sudden, something hit me, I looked up at Nicholas and felt anger deep inside me. All I could see was us back as young kids, him standing above me, hitting me as others watched and laughed. Without even thinking, I stood up and charged straight into Nicholas causing us both to fall backwards. I started hitting him over and over again. I didn't even notice what I was hit in the face by a blast of water.

I shook my head around and before long, everything was starting to come back to normal. I looked around until I saw Nicholas, he was sitting up staring at me with a looked of worry mixed with fear.

"Nicholas, I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." I begged him, trying to help him up.

"It's fine Matt, I'm all right." He reassured with a smile before it quickly changed to a frown, "What was that all about though, I've never seen you act like that ever?" He questioned me.

"I don't know, I just became so mad for some reason, I just lost control of myself." I answered.

I really didn't know how to explain what happened, nor did I really want to. What was I supposed to say, you happened to me Nicholas? Even though I didn't say anything, I kind of felt as if he already knew what happened, he just didn't want to say it. We sat in silence for a moment until Nicholas helped me to my feet and we started back towards the house.

"Hey Matthew, I'm sorry." He said quietly to me.

"Yeah, me too." I told him.

"No, I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry I was always such a jerk, I'm sorry I never listen, I'm sorry I'm such a failure." He started to sound as if he wanted to cry.

I stopped walking and grabbed his shoulders, turning him around to face me.

"Nicholas, you are not a failure, and you have nothing to be sorry about. I'm not mad at you anymore, I told you that the last time you said this."

"How could you possibly forgive me, I made your life torture, I made your life feel like it wasn't worth living." He asked me.

"Nicholas, I'm only going to tell you this once, that was the past, this is the present. I want to start new, I want to believe that the past never happened. I willing to forgive, I just want to hear that you will promise to forget." I started to feel like I would cry myself.

He looked me straight in the eyes and shook his head. "I promise." He said in a shaky voice.

We quickly hugged and went back inside, when we did, the pastry was gone. We walked back into the family room and saw William sitting on the couch eating it.

"What, I forgot to eat myself." He said before finishing off the thing and walking back out the door.

"Well that was a waste of time." Nicholas huffed in frustration.

"No, I don't think it actually was Nicholas." I smiled straight at him. "It brought us a little closer." He smiled back before heading upstairs to get ready. I sighed and started up the steps myself, feeling energetic and ready to face the day.

Well, I'm finally back after a very long hiatus. I apologize, but again, I have been very busy with everything going on in my life. I haven't been doing this for such a long time that I think I've lost my touch. Now that I'm back, maybe things will get back to the level they were at.

To be honest, I was kind of rushing to get this out, just so you knew I was back. The real work begins as soon as this goes up. I will immediately get back to work on SSP and Rise, I will also be getting one or two new stories going as well. One of those may be on my DA account so you may want to check that out to.
