}Chicago Hospital

"No! You can't be serious! Why!!!?" Izzy cried. A nurse looked at Izzy nervously while her friend Luna sighed at her antics. Izzy Kimi, twenty years old , American/Japanese, with stage four cancer or more specifically angiosarcoma which is a form of heart cancer. Symptoms include heart failure, shortness of breath, extreme exhaustion, chest pain and fainting. Yeah fun times. It's extremely rare but sadly Izzy was the one with the bad luck. What's worse was her own family abandoned her at the young age of sixteen when she was first diagnosed. She was in a swim meet in high school. She was just doing her long strokes like usual until she had a sharp pain in her chest. Izzy thought it was nothing and kept going but it got worse and worse till she had a heart attack in the middle of the swimming pool. Her coach saved her from drowning and took her to the hospital. That was when everything went to hell. Not that she blamed them, they used to be a family of six and were already stretched thin on money. So adding a daughter who has an incurable disease and has to go for many treatments to help with the symptoms was too overwhelming for them.

So with a broken heart they left her at the hospital and never came back to get her. Since then she had been jumping from foster home to foster home until she was eighteen and was able to live on her own. You would think after all that she would be cold and bitter… but you're wrong. Izzy just smiled through all the pain and suffering and that didn't stop her from being a total otaku and living life to its fullest. In fact, learning that she was dying fueled her determination on doing things on her bucket list that she never thought that she could do!

First on her list was travelling the world. Check! Back at her apartment her walls were covered in photos of her many travels, she even painted a map on her bedroom walls and connected the photos on the map.

Second on her list was going to every convention possible with her best friend. Check! Luna looked at Izzy with an exasperated look. "Alright, which anime character died this time?" Izzy looked over at her beautiful best friend with tears falling down her face and quiet sobs passing her lips.

She wasn't joking when she said her best friend was beautiful, her face was full and spotless. Her eyes were pure blue like the sea, her skin was pale as snow, her hair was long, wavy and bright silver in the sunlight. Her lashes were full as well as her red lips. Luna was wearing a school uniform with a dark blue buret on top of her head. 'If I wasn't so upset right now I would totally marry you Luna!' Izzy thought as more tears came down her cheeks. "Rengoku died!!!" Izzy wailed while throwing her manga across the room.

Luna just sighed and slowly got up from her chair and went across the room to pick up her book. Luna can never understand how she became friends with this little weirdo. Wait she did know, it was at a Disney con and you both got into an argument over a beauty and the beast figure. Friends at first fight. Luna was used to her little tantrums about her favourite characters but sometimes she could be a little over dramatic. She looked over at her wailing friend and frowned. An oxygen tube was placed over Izzy's nose, her light tanned skin looked pale, her chestnut brown eyes looked dim from the bags under her eyes, and her long curly brown hair was frizzy and dry. Luna hated the fact that her best friend was going through this and that there was nothing she could do except comfort and support her.

To Luna, Izzy was a special glass that needed to be taken care of and if she wasn't careful the glass would break into tiny pieces. Luna got up and placed the manga back onto Izzy's lap. "Please be more careful." She muttered. "How is this fair Luna?! He was taken way too soon. His family still needs him! The world still needs him!" Izzy's voice grew louder after each sentence. "The world is always unfair." Luna patted Izzy's back in comfort.

"God! What were the writers and artists thinking?! I mean don't get me wrong it's beautiful work but…"

'There she goes again, going onto her little rants.' Luna sweat drops . But she shouldn't complain, these little things help distract Izzy for a time, instead of facing reality. "I mean, not only is he a powerful Hashira, he's a son and a big brother! He is passionate and has a love for food! Extremely loyal and huge sense of justice!" Izzy gushed, Luna was only half listening and kept patting her back. "He was taken too soon! His family still needs him, the Demon Crop still needs him!" She wailed and covered her face with her hands.

Luna nods, just waiting for Izzy to calm down which she hoped was soon since Izzy can't get too excited and over work her heart. "Well, still be as lively as ever I see." Both Luna and Izzy looked up at the door to her room and saw a tall, female doctor giving them a small smile. "Hey doc!" Izzy smiled, acting like her melt down never happened. Luna can never get used to her mood changes.

Dr. Feather was by far the most favorite doctor Izzy had ever had, and she went to plenty. With her tall height, medium build, bronze skin, and cold charcoal eyes you can tell she was a very strict doctor but once she opens her thin mouth, her voice tells you everything will be alright and lure you to sleep at the same time. Dr. Feather only smiled and walked in with a clipboard in hand.

"I didn't expect to see you so soon." Izzy's smile dropped and the look of guilt took over. "Yeah…" she whispered. "Looks like your heart rate is extremely high, you had shortness of breath and fainted."

"She also coughed up blood." Luna added. Izzy looked down, her hair falling and hiding her face like a curtain. Dr. Feathery didn't say anything and just placed the clipboard down on the end of Izzy's bed and took off the stethoscope around her neck. She calmly walked over to Izzy and stood over her. Izzy could feel her intense gaze that her body shivered. "Sit up straight Izzy, I need to listen to your heart and lungs."

'What's the point in that?' Izzy thought bitterly. She knew that her stupid cancer has probably spreed to her lungs now, which was not good but she excepted it. Regardless she lifted her head and straightened her back and felt the cold steel of the stethoscope against her chest. Deep breath in and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In-

A terrible cough escaped Izzy's mouth, leaving her dry heaving. She quickly covered her mouth to stifle the cough but it still kept going. "Izzy? Izzy!" Luna cried out, holding her hand in a way of comfort. Dr. Feathery quickly grabbed an oxygen mask and hovered it over her face. "Breath Izzy." She gently pulled her hand away from her mouth and replaced it with the mask. Slowly but surely Izzy was able to control her breathing. Looking down she could see splatters of blood on her hand, she clenched her hand into a fist and closed her eyes in exhaustion.

"Your breath sounds irregular and your heart rate is dangerously high. I'd like to run a few more tests and-" Izzy raised her hand to stop her doctor from talking. "Izzy…" Luna whispered. Izzy grabbed the oxygen mask and pulled it down so she would be able to speak. "Doc, we both know what's happening here." Dr.Feathery's lips thinned but didn't say anything.

"You told me… that this damn tumour would spread. And now it has." Luna had tears on the corner of her eyes but held them back. Dr. Feathery sighed deeply. "I did, the tumour in your heart is a nasty one. Clever and tricky. It seemed to have spread to your lungs. And maybe in other parts of your body. But we won't know without an MRI. We can try different medications or we can do surgery to cut out some of the tumour to give you more time. " Izzy only shook her head. "We had a deal… I had agreed to your medicines and surgeries. Eight times as a matter of fact. Now it has reached this stage… you promised I could sign a DNR." Luna squeezed Izzy's hand harder.

"Iz.."

"You have tried… and I thank you. But we reached the limit. Please give me the papers." Luna couldn't hold her tears anymore and let them trickle down her cheeks. Dr, Feathery just stared at her and sighed again. What could she do at this point? Tell her no and to keep fighting? She turned away and looked at a nurse who they completely forgot was in the room. "Get the DNR papers."

"No!" Izzy looked up at Luna, exhaustion present on her face. "Luna…"

"No! You can't give up now! You have finished the bucket list yet! You can't! You can't!" Luna wailed. Dr. Feathery and the nurse left to give them some privacy. Izzy took a couple more breaths from her mask while Luna looked at her like she betrayed her. "Luna. We both knew this would happen." Luna let go of her hand and paced around the room. "You knew getting into this that I didn't have a lot of time. Hell, my family knew before me."

"Your family are assholes! They didn't deserve you."

Izzy just gave her a disappointed look. "They didn't have a choice. They had my siblings to consider." Luna stopped and glared at her. "You are too kind for your own good." She growled. Izzy couldn't deny that. It was probably her biggest flaw and the fact she was too forgiving but she wouldn't change that for the world.

Luna wiped her eyes angrily. "You're my best friend. You think I'm just going to let you die on me? Or watch you die?! I won't allow it!" Izzy just shook her head. "It's not up to you." Luna just stared at her angrily, steam literally coming out of her ears and her face flushed red in pure rage.

With a big huff Luna quickly grabs her bag and coat from a chair and stomps her way to the exit. "Well I'm not staying to watch you die!" She opened and slammed the door so hard that Izzy thought that the door would break. Izzy just stared up into the ceiling and began to cry. 'I should've excepted this. Everyone leaves me in the end. My parents left me, why would I think Luna would be any different.' She placed her hand over her eyes as a dry sob left her lips.

}Hawaii

The waves crashed against Izzy's feet as the sand swept back into the sea. The wind carried a faint smell of salt and hibiscus that instantly made Izzy's body relax. The sound of people yelling with joy and excitement made Izzy look out further at sea.

Surfer's riding out a beautiful wave, so carfree that Izzy wanted to join and she would've but she knew she shouldn't. She sighed in content. "What a beautiful day."

"Hey baby! Looking good." A surf guy cat called. Izzy only looked at him with a small smile. Granted she was wearing a pretty cute bathing suit. A red bikini bottom and top with white hibiscus flowers on them with a long red skirt that reveal only one leg. But she didn't think it was worth being catcalled. She nodded her head in acknowledgment and walked away. "Hey beautiful! Where are you going?" He quickly ran and grabbed Izzy's arm but in a flash Izzy grabbed his wrist and twisted it around his back.

"Ow!Ow! That hurts you bitch!"

"You were just calling me cute and beautiful a minute ago. I thought we're going to be friends? Oh well." Izzy tilted her head and gave a tight smile. She let go of him and quickly left before he could retaliate. 'I just gave him a Shinobu vibe. Great.' She sighed.

Soon she came up to a local village that was covered in beautiful plum trees and wildflowers. It also had an easy connection to get to the beaches. The house's were small but homely. Most of the people lived out their lives whether it be opening up a local restaurant, going to school, doing chores, surfing, hula dancing, ect. Izzy would've loved to just take all of it in but her chest was giving her a bit of a problem.

'I shouldn't have run.' She thought, rubbing her chest in small circles to relieve the pain. "Aloha Isabella!" She looked up and saw the village chief come to greet her. "Aloha chief and please call me Izzy." The chief smiled at her. He was a young man, maybe in his twenties, big. Not fat but big with muscles. He had beautiful bronze skin, chocolate eyes, and thick, black curly hair. A few tattoos on his arm but that was the norm in Hawaii. "Ahaha! Alright. You well Izzy? You seem paler than usual." Izzy laughed his question off. "I'm alright chief. Just a little out of breath."

"Well if you're sure, your home is ready for you." Izzy bowed in thanks and followed the chief. The house Izzy was staying at was small but it had a view of the ocean which was enough for Izzy. It had the essentials. A bed, kitchen, bathroom, your average home. Izzy was gifted with this house for as long as she could remember for this wasn't the first time she came and stayed in Hawaii. Ever since watch Free! And Moana as a kid, Izzy dreamed of swimming and surfing as her career. But as always her condition stopped her in pursuing that career.

But that passion still burned in her heart. So on her travels she stopped in Hawaii. She learned to surf and learned the culture while she was there. One day she saved the chief's sister from drowning and ever since then they have been friends. Even gave her a house as a gift, telling her 'Even if you go back to America, your true home is here.'

She had been forever grateful and came back to Hawaii every chance she got. After thanking the chief again he left her alone to her devices. She waved goodbye as he left, not knowing that this would be the last time he would see her smiling face ever again. She slowly lowered her hand and frowned when she was completely alone.

Izzy felt bitter and cold in her own home but pushed it aside. She walked outside to her balcony and stared out into the ocean. No matter how many times she comes here the sight of the ocean takes her breath away. She sighed leaning her body over the railing . Izzy longed to just go out there and swim to her heart's content. "Soon Iz… Soon." She whispered.

Unnoticed by her, a lone figure was watching her from afar with an evil grin on his face. "Very soon indeed, my beloved."
